can someone tell me info about electricity powered cars or engines?

Carlos

i just need a paragraph about the important facts and info about the electricity powered cars or engines

thanks

Answer
Well, as an investment, it's a good thing. Because the power you spend is much cheaper then petrol. Also, electrical engines are far more efficient then petrol because there is minimum energy loss then petrol engines, or any engines that run on fossil fuels for that matter. It's ecological, you don't have any CO2 emissions. However, there is a big con on these types of cars. For an example, since these engines are electrical, they need electricity to power them, and a lot of energy is required for that. You need to store that energy somewhere. That is, you need a large battery with enough Ah capacity to hold the el. energy as much as it can. Whats the con?
First, all battery's have a number of charge cycles. For example, a typical Li-Polymer battery has 1000 charge cycles, which means when you (in total) discharge and recharge the battery for 1000 times, the battery losses it's capacity. And then you need to buy a new one. The ones you use for el. cars, are pretty expensive. Price range is from 1000$ to 10000$, depending on the capacity of course. And since you, I suppose, drive a lot, the battery will run for a few years and then dry out. And since you need a new one, it "seems" that it's even cheaper to run on petrol. This of course depends a lot, but I think it's better to buy a hybrid then completely convert the engine to electrical. And you also need "gas" stations where you would have fast chargers so you can "fill up" your battery. The whole electrical cars concept is still new and it's developing really slow.

Nevertheless, if you own 2 cars, I would definitely convert one of them to electrical. Use one for city drives, and the other for long distance drives. You could save a lot of money by this method.

car engine?

sherman213

could i put a V6 engine in a hundyai elantra that has a 2.0L engine in it now or would everything have to be change everything? If yu need more info to figure out what i have to do email me at sherman2131@yahoo.com.?

Answer
It probably won't fit without extensive modifications to th engine bay, front wheel drive cars are much more difficult when it comes to engine swaps of different size if the new engine isn't native to a trim level of the car

Eric

I'm researching how to convert a small gasoline car engine to run on (uncompressed) natural gas the kind you use for your gas stove at home. Im not trying to put it in a car, simply run it and probably use it as a generator. Im having difficulty finding sources of info on this. Has anyone done this or have a good reference? Im mostly interested on how and where we connect the natural gas line, before the carburator or after.

Answer
google impco, yes you can run it on user end pressure. as i stated yes you can, ive converted many stand still powerplants in the past to both ng and lpg. itll burn twice as clean as any gasoline or diesel.

What should I do if the check engine light in my car comes on and then turns off a few days later?

Car Info: 2001 Toyota Camry CE

I noticed that it seems to lurch a little bit when idling at a light or in park.

I don't know much about cars but could it have something to do with the idling control sensor (if such a thing actually exists) ?

Answer
it's something minor. a sensor most likely. you can go to a local autozone and have them read the code for you and it is free of charge.
maybe a..
idle control valve
o2 sensor
throttle position sensor

Can Vegetable Oil Be Refined And Used To Run A Car?

I've been able to find info on the internet about biodiesel for use in diesel engines, but I was curious if anyone knew if vegetable or corn oil could be refined in any way and used as a fuel for an unleaded car engine.

Answer
Wncan47, the person was asking about FUEL, not lubricants. Corn is mostly used in the states to make ethanol, some stations use 10 percent in gas, which all vehicles can use. The highest is e85. 85 percent ethanol, for use in flex fuel vehicles.... note Brazil makes they're from sugar cane. A diesel can be converted to run off straight cooking oil (veg oil, canola, etc. that's used in frying) OR the oil can be converted through a bunch of processes to be turned into bio diesel. Which can be used without conversion (you may see diesel pumps, and then bio diesel pumps at gas stations)

What do you do if you are 13 and built an engine? (I haven't yet bu I'm working on it.?

I have been working on building a lawn mower or car engine. I can't seem to find a website that can help me.

Answer
best yo start with a lawnmower engine to start getting down the basics. Hereis a Briggs and Stratton Website that somewhere in it has the engine's parts breakdown:
http://www.briggsandstratton.com/maint_repair/repair_parts/index.aspx
Then there is a website called How Things Work or something like that. And you can surf that for lots of engie info.
Good Luck
