Car inspection - get in trouble if you do it a day late?

If you get your car inspected the day after your yearly inspection sticker expires, can you get in trouble for being a date late? I know you could if you get pulled over by a cop with the expired sticker. But what I'm wondering is will the state's computer systems know that you let your inspection sticker expire? Is all this info linked up via computer systems or do they have no way of knowing?

In Texas we have 5 days of forgiveness to get it done. I ALWAYS wait until at least the 2nd day to get it inspected, because the way they do them here, that actually gives you 13 months and you only pay for 12.

This is what Texas DPS website says:
Inspection Grace Period
There is a five (5) day grace period for motorists to get their inspection sticker. An inspection certificate expires on the last day of the month that is indicated on the windshield. Therefore, you have until the 5th day of the following month to have your car inspected.

Alright so my backwindshield wiper broke and I was wondering if that needed to be fixed in order to pass inspection?

BQ: My brother is the one who got pulled over today because our car hasn't been inspected since November, when my brother was pulling out all his info out of the glove box..the cop saw that I had my junior license in the glovebox and flipped out saying it needs to be with me all time. But it is my junior license, which is no longer valid. And he still kept flipping out saying that I had to have it on my person. Is this sheriff retarded or something?

you DEFINITELY do not need to have your back windshield wiper working.
it's not something that all cars have so it's not required.
& yes, that cop is obviously a douche, it sounds like he just wanted something to yell at your brother about. because his reasoning for pulling him over in the first place was probably something minor.

i have a car that im tryin to buy its 1 grand its a 1991 honda accord and i need to know exactly what need to be done for it to pass inspection so if anyone has the actual code of regulatios like ride height emissions and all that i would greatly appreciate a site for it

Well older cars are having a hard time right now passing the emissions inspection. I'm not sure how they do it in older cars because 1996 and newer have the computer thing that automatically checks it. I think they check with some sort of chemical paper or something, the emissions have to be within a certain level. I strongly recommend not buying a pre 1996 car because you might only get to drive it a year or two before failing the inspection, that is if you don't fail it the first time. It's not worth paying to replace the exhaust or the catalyc converter just to pass the inspection. It's completely up to you. As for the official info, google virginia dmv and you will see the link. Hi Dennis,

The answer depends on your state division of motor vehicles and how they classify your car. In some states a classic car is a vehicle over 20 years old, in others it is a vehicle over 25 years old.

For example, my car is over 25 years old and is not required to be inspected according to the rules fo rmy state. However, it DOES have to have all of the safety components available as delivered from the factory intact and in working condition. My car came from the factory with lap and shoulder seat belts, so I am required to have those in working condition in my car. I am also exempt from annual emissions inspections.

Don't forget to check on the insurance regulations for your car as well. They can be different for classic cars depending on if they wear classic car tags or standard tags.

Differences in Car Inspections?

Hi I'm not 100% sure so I'd thought I'd ask. What is the difference in the amount of points in a car inspection? I know that the more points, the more detailed it will be. But at what number is it bordering on excessive/non important info? For example the main differences between a 20/50/80/100/200 point inspection are what? For independent contractors who loan/rent use their car for either personal or commercial purposes, what is an average/acceptable car point inspection? Please advise. Thanks!
This would be in regards to a dealer/insurance inspection, not a state inspection.

The number of points is really not important. Places give a higher point to make it sound like they do more but generally when someone does an inspection they look at everything. Or at least the most important, safety related things.

Seriously, unless you have a very expensive car, it does not worth shipping it. Just sell it and buy one in Europe.
