Someone was telling me about a new car that costs around $2900?

Sushilove

i guess it was on the news lately, whats it called

Answer
$2500.

TATA Nano.

Tata is an Indian car company. This car is only sold in India. It will nver be legal for America since it is glued together instead of welded so it is not safe.

TATA is the company that bought LandRover and Jaguar from Ford almost 2 years ago.

Is there a technology to run automobiles (cars, trucks etc) on Compressed Air?

Police Off

Answer
" BBC News is reporting that a French company has developed a pollution-free car which runs on compressed air. India's Tata Motors has the car under production and it may be on sale in Europe and India by the end of the year.

The air car, also known as the Mini-CAT or City Cat, can be refueled in minutes from an air compressor at specially equipped gas stations and can go 200 km on a 1.5 euro fill-up -- roughly 125 miles for $3. The top speed will be almost 70 mph and the cost of the vehicle as low as $7000.

The car features a fibreglass body and a revolutionary electrical system and is completely computer-controlled. It is powered by the expansion of compressed air, using no combustion at all, and the exhaust is entirely clean and cool enough for use in the internal air conditioning system. "

Why don't they make afordable cars for lower income people?

Zenkai

Why doesn't the big 3 do this? I asked this question a month ago and got a lot of hate replies saying how it's impossible (and I know it isn't) and boom India does it first!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090323/ts_afp/indiacompanyautotata_20090323144905

So my question stands why does the big 3 feel they need to sell something that cost half the price of an average home and loses values every year and has a lot of maintenance. Why would anyone buy an overpriced new car just to get them from point A to B?

Answer
Well we do have some cheaper cars here (like smart cars).

http://www.smartusa.com/

BUT...while smart cars are similar to the ones made in India (only more expensive) people have stopped buying them. Since gas prices have dropped no one wants them anymore and a lot of people are canceling their orders (on that $99 reservation thing on the website).

http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/news/dpgo_Economy_Gas_Prices_Orphaning_Smart_Cars_SAB_032420092310329

Basically, unless a ton of people are going to buy these cars, no one is going to make them, and the poorest families probably can't afford ANY type of new car. So until we make super cheap cars like those in India, it isn't going to work, and even if we did that I'm not sure they would be too popular in this country. Those types of cars just don't appeal to most Americans.

What country makes seat cars?

RedR

What country makes Seat cars? And I found that Tatas are Indian is that right?

Answer
Seat cars is originally a Spanish car, but was bought by Germany`s Volkswagen.
The first seat car that rolled into production has a Porsche engine not because it was manufactured by Porsche but because it was design by Porche.
And yes Tata is from India. recently it was on the news that they manufacture the most cheapest car on the market.

Tips for going to India for 18 year old girl?

Kiran

Hi, I am Indo Canadian and 18 years old, I have lived in Canada for all my life and will be visiting India for the first time. I speak fluent punjabi and will be staying at my grandparents house there. Does anyone have any tips for my trip? Do I have to dress a certain way? Can i wear Canadian clothes (short shorts, tanktops, dresses) ? What can i expect while visiting a village in punjab? Is there anything i should avoid? All advice is appertiated, i am really nervous for this trip.

Answer
Do not wear tank tops, shorts, dresses to the village.

You might be able to get away with this in Delhi or Chandigarh, but I would get yourself measured in Canada at a suit tailor, and send your measurements to India ask your family to have some clothing made for you in your favorite colors. This way, you will have clothing ready for you when you arrive (it can take a week or two, depending on the season/holiday). In the mean time, nothing less than a Tshirt with sleeves (the longer the shirt and sleeves the better) or tunic and jeans/full length skirt.

If you are leaving soon, Punjab can be warm at noon, and very cold at night... and sometimes the houses feel cold, because of the concrete construction they are often not heated in the way we are used to in North America.

You may also find a good wool hat, gloves, and a cardigan (to wear over everything) will be useful in the Punjab winter. If you go for indian-style clothes, there is almost always a "dupatta" -- which is pretty useful in hot weather (for shade) and in cold weather (as a scarf)

As for the speaking fluent Punjabi, this will be helpful in getting around, and I suggest a lot of these modest clothing options because you will actually be able to understand the insults that could be said about you... Some foreigners (myself included) have the luxury of being language/slang ignorant, so its easy to ignore and continue on, unphased.

Other tips include: learn how to clean yourself in the bathroom without using toilet paper... do this at home, while you are in your safe/happy home, so that you can master it in the village. (Many toilets are "indian style" and are holes in the ground, with footpads to stand on!) One other tip about girls that these style toilets, is that our center of gravity isn't designed for this position... you can rectify this by wearing short - 1 inch,chunky-heel sandals... you will be able to squat with more balance and less fear of falling over backwards! (try it!)

You can expect there to be absolutely no nightlife. Unless this is a festival time, everyone goes home after dinner.

Boys and girls are not friends. You will see boys holding hands, they aren't gay... and making long eye contact, talking to a boy, as a friend, especially alone, may inspire comments, about your virginity, or propriety, because you aren't married to him -- This is something that has taken me a while to get used to... and I wish I could have more friends of any gender, but gets awkward, as things get left open to unexpected interpretation.

You can also expect your grandparents to be very warm, welcoming, feed you a lot, and the way they operate may be considered "strict" by your home standards.

Hopefully you will be able to make some friends while you are there (even though you won't stay out at night). A 18yr old girl who came through my program, really felt lonely, because friendship didn't look the way she was used to. Bring a hobby, book, game etc. You can also expect that life will move very very slowly. Take the time to enjoy the new pace, because it will take a cup of chai, and maybe 15 minutes of chat about life, the news or the weather, before you can ask... "so what about my visa/clothing/tailoring?"

The concept of "me time" doesn't exist. Privacy as we know it in the west, doesn't either. Doors open, you grandmother will know when you are sleeping and know when you are awake, as she is likely tuned in every sound in the neighborhood. (My Indian auntie knows the sound of my employee's car, and predicts his arrival!) Another example is that when I have been sick, and want to me miserable alone in my room, they want me to come out and be miserable with them! Being alone is one fear that many Indians highlight -- and they want to comfort you in a way that is familiar to them!

Other than that... the best advice I received about this kind of travel was given by a muslim woman who traveled all over countries where Muslims weren't welcomed, or women couldn't go by themselves... I asked her how she did it, and she said... "Go with god, and go." There are a lot of doors that were closed because I was a single woman traveling alone... but there were also many doors that were open. :-)

Good luck and have fun!!

Why don't people know about Moteur Development International, France who make cars run on compressed air?

Is the answer to keep people ignorant so that greedy manufacturers can go on polluting the planet and fighting wars for oil? The answer is to spread the word about the Tata Motor Company in India and MDI in France and another company in Melborne, Australia who are all producing the cleanest cars on the planet that cost very little to run using compressed air. You are either part of the solution or part of the problem. Go green today. Stop using gas guzzling, polluting vehicles and get a really clean car that uses only air. If you are really so concerned about pollution get entrepeneurs, engineers and scientists to produce compressed air cars of your own in the greedy polluting United States of America before the whole world is brought into a war because of the silly short sighted need for oil. Make sure you vote green and inform all Democrats about the green solution. The Republicans are past help. They are mostly selfish greedy mean warmongers who think money is better than people.

Answer
They don't know, because if it was a reliable, long-distance vehicle, it would be all over the news. It probably isn't, it's probably a short-distance car with no stamina, so it is <practically> useless for most American driving.

There used to be compressed air locomotive engines, but they could only go so long a distance before needing a recharge of pressure ( EXTREMELY high pressure ). So I doubt there is any service station available that can do THAT yet anywhere.

As far as mean, money-hungry politicians, why don't you ask about Mr. Jefferson, the $90,000-in-the-freezer Democrat, or the other Earmark specialists in the DNC, who are so anti-money? Huh? Because they're ALL hungry for money ( mostly taxpayers ). Republicans don't have the history of tax-and-spend of the Democrats, but they're catching up. Stupid idiots. All of them.

Anyway, your air engine probably won't work long-term. Might be a high-density urban partial solution, but needing external power to be provided for it's fuel, it's already doomed due to it's non-independent operational needs. If you can get a ready supply of high-pressure air available, ok, sure, it might be doable. But I doubt it right now.

What do you think about Obama Stimulas package?

Sean N

I hear alto about it on the news it seems like it can do some good. I don't really know much about polotics. But I just want to know what you think about it?

Answer
I love this stimulas package... and let me tell you why!

The United States of America is no longer a Super Power, the reason we are not... is because we don't invest in our own people... our schools suck and we have the worst health care in the world..

Our cars suck... I personaly owed many American cars and all of them failed me.. I now drive a used Luxus.

We send billions of dollars to other countrys a year and we don't want new computers, health care, jobs, tax breaks, fix the dams , roads.. to our own people... then Japan , China , India will always have the best engineers, and techonology..

We need to invest in our country , work hard, creat products here., make better cars , radios, laptops, high speed rail way, we need health care.. we need help!!

WE NEED JOBS

How come India never does anything on the world stage?

car news from india on Honda Accord | Reviews | Specifications | Price and User Comments
car news from india image

Hi.

I mean, India doesn't seem to give a crap about anything that goes on in the rest of the world...I hear about countries like the US(obv.) the UK, China, and Russia seem to be in the news, but never about India...

Do they even have any allies or relations with any other countries?

Answer
1.The average IQ of people in India is around 81. Weirdly enough they do not realize this and they think they are much smarter than the rest of the world. This causes countless incidents in which Indians embarrass themselves to the rest of the world without even realizing this
2.The Indian education system is the very worst on the planet. If you enroll, you get your diploma. Most Indian "engineers" are not even able to read, write or speak proper English. Even the French speak better English than "educated" Indians.
3.People from India will always agree with you, no matter what. If you ask them if they will finish a job on time, they will always say yes, not to insult you with something silly like the truth. The end result of this is that nothing gets finished, ever.
4.Somehow Indians convinced themselves that wearing gay clothing and shaking your behind a lot is entertaining. They call this Bollywood. This Hollywood wannabe silly excuse for entertainment is only entertaining in India, the rest of the world completely ignores it.
5.Indians consider a hole in the ground to be proper sanitary facilities. Unsurprisingly, there is not a single person in India who does not have dysentery!
6..Another sanitary disaster is that Indians just throw their dead into the Ganges river. The bodies then get eaten by a very large turtle population. Just never eat turtle soup when you are in India!
7.The Indians invented honor killings! Just looking at some girls behind, which is impossible to prevent in Bollywood India anyway, is enough to get yourself killed. Don't forget to wear sunglasses when in India and never take photographs!
9It is well known fact that Indians love animals more than they love people. Only in India can drunken (!) elephants rampage and kill.
9..Since corrupt Indian cops are very cheap to bribe, India effectively has no traffic violations. You can kill as many people as you like with your car without ever getting into serious trouble! Not that the Indian babus bureaucrats would ever notice someone died anyway.

After all this, how can indians find time for doing anything on the WORLD STAGE??

Why were there no pictures of the tortured and murdered women and children in Bombay, India?

Steel Rain

The media bombards the news with pictures of dead and injured Palestinians where were the pictures of the tortured and murdered Jews in Bombay?

Answer
Why just Bombay? Why not the sight of burning cars in France (caused by young Muslims), people being attacked by terrorists in Iraq, or people being blown up in nightclubs in Bali?

The newspapers are on the side of radical, violent Islam. I can't understand why, but that's the only explanation.
