Can somebody please give me the general breakdown of car insurance for teens?

tyler

I want to get a sports car. Money is not a problem I just want the details.

Answer
Breakdown and details of what? You didn't say that part. How much it will cost? Forget it. This place isn't an insurance company website, so you can't get an accurate quote here. You have to contact an insurance provider (online, on phone, whatever) and get an actual quote for that info. Then you have to contact another and then another so you can compare the prices.

You just want to know what all that stupid-sounding coverage is on the policy? I can help with that, but it won't be in great detail. Here's a breakdown of the coverage you can buy...

Liability: Covers loss or damage to other people and their property that your vehicle causes. This is the stuff you're required by law to have.

Accident Benefits: This covers your injuries, medical bills, lost income etc. if you're hurt in an accident, even if the accident was your fault. It goes by many different names depending on where you live.

Uninsured Motorist: Covers your damage if the other vehicle is at fault but has no insurance.

Collision: Covers your vehicle for at-fault accidents, hit and run damage, and the vehicle spontaneously flipping over.

Comprehensive: Covers your vehicle for 'non-accident' damage like fire, theft, lightning, falling objects, hail, and other stuff. Always look up the list of what is and isn't included.

Loss Of Use: Covers the cost of a rental if your vehicle is in the shop due to an insurance claim.

There you go, that's a very basic rundown of the very basics. You'll still need to look into things like limits, deductibles, conditions and exclusions yourself, and there are a few possible options I didn't even mention, but that's how the coverages under your policy work in layman's terms.

Ho much for my car insurance? How do I add to moms plan?

Josh

I am turning 16 and need to know about the cost of car insurance. Can anyone give me an estimate 2,000 a year???
here is some info:
*16 years old
* Male
*Live in Tampa
* Sedan few years old
* Good grades
* Summer Job
*Student
*car fully paid
*has alarm ant ABS
Also my mom cannot add me to hers because she gets a special insurance from her company and you have to be 21 to be added to her plan. So I would have to do my own? I thought legally you have to be 18 to have your own insurance. So does she cancel her company insurance and do different company and then add me under her? Sorry if this doesn't really make sense I am confused.

Answer
Call a local agency. Try State Farm. We can't give you a quote my dear.

What is the Australian equivalent of a New Zealand full driver's licence?

I've just moved to Queensland, Australia and have my New Zealand full licence. I've held it for over 6 months and had a different licence for a year before that. Does anyone know what sort of licence I'll be transferred to over here in Aus?
Thanks.

Answer
Ok, if you have a NZ full drivers license you can just do a transfer over to a Qld one.

3 years ago Qld Transport changed the rules and exempted New Zealand license holders to resit a test, so good news on your part !

But ... when you go in, do the paperwork they will fax a request off to NZ Land and Transport for confirmation you do have a license. This isn't instant, you will have to go back in a day or two. (Yes I know, showing them your license is not enough!) Also take ALL your ID's with you, they are very picky. Also proof you live here, like rent receipts, lease, power bill in your name/address etc. If you don't have all this, they will turn you away.

They will transfer your license over to a Qld one on whatever you have in NZ. So if it's car, you will get the same here.

Did you hear the breaking news from Australia?

Ian Ferguson has been sacked from Perth Glory after adopting Rangers European tactics and having lost 5 games in a row and not scoring a single goal in over 6 hours of football. Ferguson has appealed the decision saying he wants to hear his sacking in English before accepting it. Ach well suppose Fergie will be back in Scotland soon selling second hand knocked off cars with his fellow neds.

I see you are keeping the Celtic tradition of telling pork pies alive in upside down land eck. Ferguson leaves the club by mutual consent.

Can an electrical engineer work in a car company or dealership?

car news toyota on New Toyota Supra

chenjack90

I want to major in electrical engineering technology and my friend wants be to work in a car dealership with him,but I'm afraid that car companies or dealerships only need mechanical engineers. Can an electrical engineer work in a car company or dealership? I was planning to get a job in sony while I'm in college, but I love cars.

Answer
Automotive manufacturing companies (eg, GM, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, etc) have all employed electrical engineers. There are opportunities in vehicle design, manufacturing and facilities engineering.

As a practical matter, the number of jobs in facility engineering is declining as automobile companies are trying to focus more on their core interests (cars) and outsourcing non-core work (facilities) to contractors. But the good news is that cars are becoming far more complicated - in the last 20 years, most of the major technological advances have resulted for the application of digital technology to vehicle design. For example, fuel efficiency is tied very closely to the ratio of weight and speed, and the only practical of improving efficiency is enhanced engine control, which really means microprocessor technology, or electrical engineering. Other applications include things like vehicle stability systems, anti-lock braking systems, etc.

And then there is the matter of electric and/or hybrid vehicles. That's heavy-duty electrical engineering.

In the field of manufacturing, the car companies are trying very hard to reduce production costs, which means that they are applying more and more manufacturing automation and robots - all of which means electrical engineering.

Now - that's the manufacturing side. Local dealerships are another matter. Of course, all that electronic technology in vehicles means that dealerships will need people to service that equipment. Unfortunately, having a four-year degree may overqualify you for one of those jobs.

Should I worry about the miles my car have?

???

My dad just bought my a new used car that has 165k miles on it. Now all of a sudden, he's experiencing "Buyer's remorse". He thinks he spent too much money on the car. Good news runs VERY well and there's nothing to worry about in the present time being. He has me paranoid now and I don't know what to think.

Answer
For a lot of cars, 300,000 miles is the usual EOL (end of life) point -- not just mechanically, but to a point where the car costs money to run and doesn't use gas as efficiently. If you bought a Honda or Toyota or any other brand that originates from Japan, you probably will be fine up until 300,000 or even more; as long as the car was maintained consistently.

If you got a Pontiac or a Chrysler or a Ford, it could run until 300,000, but may be less likely to due to reliability issues that are commonly found in some cars.

Tips for going to India for 18 year old girl?

car news in india image

Kiran

Hi, I am Indo Canadian and 18 years old, I have lived in Canada for all my life and will be visiting India for the first time. I speak fluent punjabi and will be staying at my grandparents house there. Does anyone have any tips for my trip? Do I have to dress a certain way? Can i wear Canadian clothes (short shorts, tanktops, dresses) ? What can i expect while visiting a village in punjab? Is there anything i should avoid? All advice is appertiated, i am really nervous for this trip.

Answer
Do not wear tank tops, shorts, dresses to the village.

You might be able to get away with this in Delhi or Chandigarh, but I would get yourself measured in Canada at a suit tailor, and send your measurements to India ask your family to have some clothing made for you in your favorite colors. This way, you will have clothing ready for you when you arrive (it can take a week or two, depending on the season/holiday). In the mean time, nothing less than a Tshirt with sleeves (the longer the shirt and sleeves the better) or tunic and jeans/full length skirt.

If you are leaving soon, Punjab can be warm at noon, and very cold at night... and sometimes the houses feel cold, because of the concrete construction they are often not heated in the way we are used to in North America.

You may also find a good wool hat, gloves, and a cardigan (to wear over everything) will be useful in the Punjab winter. If you go for indian-style clothes, there is almost always a "dupatta" -- which is pretty useful in hot weather (for shade) and in cold weather (as a scarf)

As for the speaking fluent Punjabi, this will be helpful in getting around, and I suggest a lot of these modest clothing options because you will actually be able to understand the insults that could be said about you... Some foreigners (myself included) have the luxury of being language/slang ignorant, so its easy to ignore and continue on, unphased.

Other tips include: learn how to clean yourself in the bathroom without using toilet paper... do this at home, while you are in your safe/happy home, so that you can master it in the village. (Many toilets are "indian style" and are holes in the ground, with footpads to stand on!) One other tip about girls that these style toilets, is that our center of gravity isn't designed for this position... you can rectify this by wearing short - 1 inch,chunky-heel sandals... you will be able to squat with more balance and less fear of falling over backwards! (try it!)

You can expect there to be absolutely no nightlife. Unless this is a festival time, everyone goes home after dinner.

Boys and girls are not friends. You will see boys holding hands, they aren't gay... and making long eye contact, talking to a boy, as a friend, especially alone, may inspire comments, about your virginity, or propriety, because you aren't married to him -- This is something that has taken me a while to get used to... and I wish I could have more friends of any gender, but gets awkward, as things get left open to unexpected interpretation.

You can also expect your grandparents to be very warm, welcoming, feed you a lot, and the way they operate may be considered "strict" by your home standards.

Hopefully you will be able to make some friends while you are there (even though you won't stay out at night). A 18yr old girl who came through my program, really felt lonely, because friendship didn't look the way she was used to. Bring a hobby, book, game etc. You can also expect that life will move very very slowly. Take the time to enjoy the new pace, because it will take a cup of chai, and maybe 15 minutes of chat about life, the news or the weather, before you can ask... "so what about my visa/clothing/tailoring?"

The concept of "me time" doesn't exist. Privacy as we know it in the west, doesn't either. Doors open, you grandmother will know when you are sleeping and know when you are awake, as she is likely tuned in every sound in the neighborhood. (My Indian auntie knows the sound of my employee's car, and predicts his arrival!) Another example is that when I have been sick, and want to me miserable alone in my room, they want me to come out and be miserable with them! Being alone is one fear that many Indians highlight -- and they want to comfort you in a way that is familiar to them!

Other than that... the best advice I received about this kind of travel was given by a muslim woman who traveled all over countries where Muslims weren't welcomed, or women couldn't go by themselves... I asked her how she did it, and she said... "Go with god, and go." There are a lot of doors that were closed because I was a single woman traveling alone... but there were also many doors that were open. :-)

Good luck and have fun!!

Why don't people know about Moteur Development International, France who make cars run on compressed air?

Stuart Had

Is the answer to keep people ignorant so that greedy manufacturers can go on polluting the planet and fighting wars for oil? The answer is to spread the word about the Tata Motor Company in India and MDI in France and another company in Melborne, Australia who are all producing the cleanest cars on the planet that cost very little to run using compressed air. You are either part of the solution or part of the problem. Go green today. Stop using gas guzzling, polluting vehicles and get a really clean car that uses only air. If you are really so concerned about pollution get entrepeneurs, engineers and scientists to produce compressed air cars of your own in the greedy polluting United States of America before the whole world is brought into a war because of the silly short sighted need for oil. Make sure you vote green and inform all Democrats about the green solution. The Republicans are past help. They are mostly selfish greedy mean warmongers who think money is better than people.

Answer
They don't know, because if it was a reliable, long-distance vehicle, it would be all over the news. It probably isn't, it's probably a short-distance car with no stamina, so it is <practically> useless for most American driving.

There used to be compressed air locomotive engines, but they could only go so long a distance before needing a recharge of pressure ( EXTREMELY high pressure ). So I doubt there is any service station available that can do THAT yet anywhere.

As far as mean, money-hungry politicians, why don't you ask about Mr. Jefferson, the $90,000-in-the-freezer Democrat, or the other Earmark specialists in the DNC, who are so anti-money? Huh? Because they're ALL hungry for money ( mostly taxpayers ). Republicans don't have the history of tax-and-spend of the Democrats, but they're catching up. Stupid idiots. All of them.

Anyway, your air engine probably won't work long-term. Might be a high-density urban partial solution, but needing external power to be provided for it's fuel, it's already doomed due to it's non-independent operational needs. If you can get a ready supply of high-pressure air available, ok, sure, it might be doable. But I doubt it right now.

Answer
!st site below gives info on nearest hotel. Most others are in Carlsbad...25 miles away. The caverns are fantastic, but you will MELT! In the caverns the temp is cooler, but extremely damp. Go on a guided tour, but you will find that your calves will be sore for days from walking down the rough paths...you get to ride back up in an elevator. You will head straight for the swimming pool when you return to your hotel!

How do I stop a manual car when driving uphill without using a hand break?

Q. Hi Guys

I have heard there is one more method of stopping a car when driving on a steep hill using cluth and accelerator.

Could you help me guys?? I have always got this fear in my mind when I am driving uphill

Answer
Base on my experienced, to stop a manual car using clutch and accelerator (without apply the hand brake) when driving a car uphill, I will use this step...

Step 1: Slowdown the car and shift to low gear (do not release the clutch and do not apply the accelerator, just apply the break pedal slowly). Normally when your car speed is less than 35 KM/h. Shift to the lowest gear.

Step 2: About 5 second before your car is going to stop then release the brake pedal and press down the accelerator slowly and at the same time release the clutch pedal half way slowly until the car is stop (do not release the clutch 100%, the engine will stop) ... make sure the clutch and the accelerator is balance just nice to make sure the car won't moving... you need to practice this frequently before get use to it

Do you agree we should tax bicycles for CO2 emission?

Chemist. W

Bicycling produces more CO2 than driving, says Wash. GOP lawmaker

(Seattle Bike Blog) Representative Ed Orcutt (R â Kalama) does not think bicycling is environmentally friendly because the activity causes cyclists to have âan increased heart rate and respiration.â This is according to comments he made in an email to a constituent who questioned the wisdom of a new bike tax the legislature is considering as part of a large transportation package. We spoke with Rep. Orcutt to confirm the emailâs authenticity and to get further clarification.

âYou would be giving off more CO2 if you are riding a bike than driving in a car,â he said. However, he said he had not âdone any analysisâ of the difference in CO2 from a person on a bike compared to the engine of a car (others have).

Answer
If Representative Ed Orcutt thinks that cycling produces more CO2 than driving, he's a grade A moron.

Q. I need to get just the name of the car owner of the vehicle with license plate DMZ5703. New York License plate.

I know some sites can give you info for a price, but most are too pricey for me. Can anyone help me out with this? Maybe if you already have an account for people's records?

Answer
Those sites are a scam, unless your in law enforcement or employed by a government agency such as the DMV you can't get that information, anyone in law enforcement or employed by the government that passes that information to someone not authorized will be subject to prosecution and lose there job,

Can someone call the cops if the only thing they probably got is your license plate?

What are great accessories to add to a classic car?

Gman

Hi, I'm looking into buying a classic car that is already mostly restored. I'm looking into staying original. What are great exhaust brands and the cost for a good exhaust system? Will it be hard to install electronics like cd/ mp3 players? How much does it cost for a good paint job? I'm purchasing a 1969 chevelle locally

Answer
cool car, the best way to keep something as special as that an investment is to buy the best of the best parts, You can add any electronics you want easily, there are even companies who make original radios that are all modern high performance electronics, type year one in your web search box, and take your time this is one company that specializes in high quality reproduction parts, they are often better quality than factory, and you will pay for it too. There are many other companies that specialize in 69 chevelle parts, you can also check at an online magazine called hemmings motor news www.hemmings.com there should be many magazines made for that specific car, in fact with just the vin numbers and a fresh title, you can buy a completely new car with the hugh quantity of reproduction parts available.
Money is the only limitation for what you want to do as to a paint job, it depends on who much prep work needs to be done, If you want top dollar, than at the very least you need a first class factory color laid down by a good shop. you need to start asking the locals who live and breath these cars, where to go, you may end up at some guys garage in the back of his house, surrounded by totally awesome cars, just like you want yours to be for a reasonable price 3 to 5 grand should be plenty for what a classic of this calibre needs. Also auto traderclassics sometimes has parts, same with hemmings website there are many links to many things, it just takes time playing on the internet until you find what you want.

How much does it cost to transfer license plates to a new car in Massachusetts?

car info reg no on London to Brighton 2013: Entries 2012 Entries
car info reg no image

Shelly

I am asking this question for my uncle. I don't drive yet so I don't know the answer! I went on the Mass RMV site and didn't see any info on transferring plates. maybe it was on there but I didn't see it. lol
thank you for looking at my question.

Answer
Go to the nearest Insurance broker so that they can fill out the RMV1. Transferring plates goes for approximately 15.00 plus any weight difference. For instance if the new vehicle weights less then the weight of the old car you only pay the transfer fee. If It weights more then It is approximately $1.60 per 100 lbs difference in the weight. If the old car weights 2400 lbs and the new car weight 3100 that equals 700 lbs so@ $1.60 per 100 lbs that is a grand total of $11.20 + 15.00=26.20 plus any tax title and local fee. The broker (your uncle has to have gotten the Insurance somewhere.) In Mass Is the only place to get a reg form. Not at the DMV.

Based on public law 103-322 Driver Privacy Protect Act prevent the dissemination of license plate reg info?

c

Does this law or act (18 U.S.C 2721) prevent third parties from getting your reg info? Why then to all these websites offer a search for $30 - 50?
What is the law in a rural state like Alabama or Miss?

Answer
Because some states do allow you to opt in to others getting information. All states allow you to get your own information, and some allow it with the written permission of the owner. All the web pages want is the money for the search, they really don't care if it showed nothing, they did do the service and will get paid regardless.

The "B" part of the act says what information is available, and to whom. Generally it's law enforcement, tow companies with possession, and insurance companies with claims.

Some DMV's have a procedure where they will write to the person saying who is asking for their information and what is being asked, and ask if they want their information released upon getting a request, so sometimes they actually do get you the information, which allows them to stay in business.

If you notice, most of the web pages also claim to find unlisted numbers, or cell phone numbers, something else what is not available.

And even here, ask a question about getting a loan with bad credit to buy a new car, and watch the spammers come out in force.

How does the Britax infant car seat compare to others?

car quality info on Auctioneer What is it?--For good being to auction house must first ...
car quality info image

trish g

I just had my third baby boy and need to purchase a new car seat. I think I want to get the Britax from target because of the side impact feature. I'm just wondering how other parents feel about it.
Thanks in advance.

Answer
Infant seats are all pretty similar - so in my opinion it really doesn't pay to get a pricier one. Especially considering it will only last 5-7 months anyway. However, I'm a bit biased b/c I don't think infant carriers are good at all. They are way overused. Check out the links and info below, if you're interested in what's happening to our babies spending all their time in these seats outside the car.

Britax makes high quality products and their infant seat is no different. Easy to install (but then so is the Graco SafeSeat1). However, the very side impact protection drawing you to it actually poses a problem with some infants, pushing their head so far forward it falls forward cutting off their airway.

If I were going to spend that much money on an infant seat, I would get the Graco SafeSeat. lasts a lot longer b/c it goes to a whopping 30lbs instead of the usual 22lbs. And even better the base has built-in locking clips making it THE easiest to install base out there and assuring you never have to use a locking clip with it. Definitely a better buy, easy to use seat. The only potential problem with it is that it takes up more room (front to back) than standard infant seats. So if you have a tiny car, it might not be the seat for you.

How much would it cost to get a paint scrape on a car fixed?

Reckless

My sister has an expensive car (2009 white audi a4) and i scraped the bumper while backing it up. She yelled at me cause she knew it was me but i didnt know at the time that i had scraped the bumper. The paint is ruined and it is white and i feel really really terrible about it how much would it cost to get it fixed?

Answer
Cost of getting a paint scrape on a car fixed is between $100 to $500. The detail cost depends on the size of scrape, auto shop, material, and so on.

Call some of your local auto shops, you will get all answers directly. Go to Yahoo Local to search auto shops. Search results should contain contact info and comments of auto shops. Then call them to check the final price you need to pay for fixing car scratches.

By the way, an advice for protecting your car paint.
Better prepare a quality car cover for protection. When you park your car outdoor, it will keep your car against rain, dust, scratches from pets, tree branches and slight collision, bird droppings and so on.

Not those expensive sports cars; a regular car that can be tuned up for racing. I was thinking the old honda civics maybe? I heard any car can go fast, but each car has there limit of going so fast before they lose control or something, what car is capable of going fast without losing control?

Answer
If you want to go fast its easier to start with a car that is already somewhat fast. A Civic isn't fast. Even the Si isn't fast.

What car would anybody recommend for a first timers drift car?

Shady Geni

Im looking to buy my first car and little by little modify it to use for drifting.Im looking to spend 5-10k on a used car.Would anyone have any good advice or can point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Answer
haha! first things first bro, a 1991-1994 240sx is perfect but, you gotta get the fast back (the coupe is ugly). now remember you need power. the car stock is 150hp. not enough to drift on. you need to get an engine swap. most commomn is the SR20 which is the japanesse engine for this car pullin 205hp. now remember its a light car so that is plent of power, specially for a begginer, now before you start going sideway n crash you new motor. you need stiff suspension CRITICAL in drifting. you can get this car in goog condition for 2k-4k (shop around) the engine will cost $1500-2k plus intallation bout $600. you can get coilovers (suspension) for about $800. this is one of my favotite cars, you can fit some fat tires on it, n the turbo sounds nice. look into it, you can change the front pop up light to the S15 front. it looks sick, now possibilities with engine swaps n mods on this car are endless. if you feel the need for it, you can even fit a SKYLINE engine in this car. good luck bro...
