Answer
Find out if the green/orange wire going to the coil pack has a positive 12 volts when the engine is being turned over.If you unplug the coil pack connector then use a 12 volt test probe, ground it's negative/ground lead wire to the negative on the battery and touch the green/orange connector while the key is in the run position the test light should of came on for a second and then go off.Next try the key in the start position if the test light comes on and then stops lighting up while the engine is turning over that means the ECM has detected either a short or a problem either with the camshaft or crankshaft sensor or the circuit and it's shut off the automatic shut down relay that feeds the coil power.

If no power at all is at that green/orange wire either in run or start that means the automatic shut down relay fuse maybe bad or the relay is no good or you've problems in the wiring.Note their known to have wiring issues in the engine harness especially in the green/orange wire circuit that feeds the injectors and coil etc.

Now if the light stays on while turning the engine over this means you have to check the coil pack for spark and it's a common problem on those vehicles to have a bad coil pack.If you look online at autozone.com under repair info or ask part source stores for the resistance tests you could perform on the coil pack with a ohms meter.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if you're getting gas to the engine after trying to start it a few times you should be able to smell gas by the fuel rail, injectors and the air filter housing.Note I do have the factory service manual for that vehicle so if you need anymore help or advice feel free to contact me.

Has anyone had experience converting a car to run on grease or electricity?

governorho

I am looking into getting a kit to convert a used car to either run on grease or to run on electricity. I'd like to know of the experiences that some others have had going either of these two routes. Thank you.

Answer
governor

i converted 1 car to run on ethanol, a truck tor un on biodiesel 2 cars to run on hydrogen and one electric. here's what info i have for you...

Ethanol doesnât go bad like petroleum itâs just Alcohol. Itâs what preserves your wine and gets better as the years go by.
Ethanol is a much cleaner fuel than petrol (gasoline):
It is a renewable fuel made from plants
It is not a fossil-fuel: manufacturing it and burning it does not increase the greenhouse effect
It provides high octane at low cost as an alternative to harmful fuel additives
Ethanol blends can be used in all petrol engines without modifications
Ethanol is biodegradable without harmful effects on the environment
It significantly reduces harmful exhaust emissions
Ethanol's high oxygen content reduces carbon monoxide levels more than any other oxygenate: by 25-30%, according to the US EPA
Ethanol blends dramatically reduce emissions of hydrocarbons, a major contributor to the depletion of the ozone layer
High-level ethanol blends reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 20%
Ethanol can reduce net carbon dioxide emissions by up to 100% on a full life-cycle basis
High-level ethanol blends can reduce emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) by 30% or more (VOCs are major sources of ground-level ozone formation)
As an octane enhancer, ethanol can cut emissions of cancer-causing benzene and butadiene by more than 50%
Sulphur dioxide and Particulate Matter (PM) emissions are significantly decreased with ethanol.
Lastly and my favorite.. It can be made at home.
It will cost about $1.10 to $1.20/gal to make the alcohol from various feed-stocks like corn, barley, potatoes, or Jerusalem artichokes. You will also have by-products which you can sell or use as animal feed, reducing the total cost down to about $.95/gal.

I currently run Bio Fuel (straight vegetable) in a 1999 Dodge 3500 truck. But all Cummins engines were modified from the factory to run on BioD since around 1992 without any modification.

Biofuel is recognized by both the US Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy as an alternative fuel, and qualifies for mandated programs under the Clean Air Act Amendments and the Environmental Protection Act of 1992 (EPAct).

USDA Clears Air with Biofuel: Buses and other diesel-burning vehicles run cleaner if they mix biofuel with regular diesel fuel, said the US Department of Agriculture at a biofuel fuel seminar at a USDA research center.

Conversely most major automotive manufacturers (Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors, etc) recommend the use of bio fuels, and nearly every car manufacturer in the world approves ethanol blends in their warranty coverage.

In fact your probably even driving an ethanol car and didn't even know it.

The trick is finding fuel.

I've been producing biofuel for about 3 years now, it's not extremely difficult. Basically you need general household ingredients, a processor (or still for ethanol) and some used oil. Blend it, let separate, screen and use. I complied a guide a while back to help walk you threw the process step by step, just email me or check out..

Hydrogen is a great option for the concept of free energy. I built my first hydrogen cell about 5 years ago and now currently run 2 trucks, my home hot water heater, home stove and home generator on hydrogen for free with caught rain water and the help of a $10 solar panel. I offer a step by step DIY guide to walk anyone interested threw the process. You can find it at http://www.agua-luna.com/hydrogen.html or you can email me.

There are basically 3 safe ways to make and use it... chemically, electrically and molecularly, the first 2 being easier so I'll only discuss them here. The fallowing steps were taking directly out of a DIY guide I offer to those who would like to run their vehicles or home on hydrogen safely. The entire guide is available at http://www.agua-luna.com/guides.html

On demand h2 generators are a bit different from the Hollywood versions like seen Chain Reaction with Keanu Reeves, that tend to explode violently every time a film is being made. However when used in an on-demand system there is no storage of hydrogen and oxygen in its gas form, only liquid (water) and is only transformed into gas âon-demandâ in small cylinder size amounts. Itâs actually safer then gasoline as it doesnât evaporate, creating explosive fumes in the tank like gas.

Chemically

1. Youâll need a 6inch x 1ft schedule 40 pvc pipe. With pvc cement glue a cap on the bottom and use a screw on cap for the top. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, screwing in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).
2. Now crunch up a couple aluminum cans (beer cans, soda cans etc) and drop them into the pvc pipe, along with a couple cups of lye (Red Devil drain opener has lye in it, some Clorox and Dranoâs do to).
3. Then simply add water, screw on the top and wait a few minutes.

What happens in simplicity is that aluminum and lye donât really get along so they battle, and as always the innocent civilians (water H2O) that the most casualties, by giving up its hydrogen and oxygen. This then builds up in the void of the pipe and is ready to be vented into your engine, by opening the valve. You may need to start your engine on gas then switch it off after the hydrogen starts burning.

Electrical is a bit easier then Chemically.

1. Simply take a small solar panel 1.5 amps is what I use ($9 at harborfreight.com), connect the 2 wires from the panel +- to 2 conductors (carbon cores of batteries work well, just be careful removing it from the jacket), but any conductive material will work ie. Copper, aluminum, steel, etc.
2. Drop the wires into a water tank (I use 55gal drums), make sure they donât touch each other.
3. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, screwing in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).
4. Then simply add water, screw on the top cap and wait.
After a few hours tiny bubbles will form and rise off one conductor (thatâs hydrogen) and even smaller bubbles that just looks like foam will rise off the other (oxygen). I donât remember which likes the positive and which likes the neg hydrogen or the oxygen.

The third method is more complicated and is what I use for my vehicles. Itâs just a modified Joeâs Cell, thereâs a step by step DIY guide available to walk you threw the process here http://www.agua-luna.com/hydrogen.html It also covers the other 2 methods described in more detail.

The one EV car I currently have (have 2 vehicles that run on hydrogen also) I converted from a vw bug and is free to charge. As I live completely off the grid all my electricity comes from solar panels and 2 wind generators, which I a;sp built.

However I did charge up at Costco in Carlsbad California (I actually only drove up there to fill up) if I remember right it was around $2.00

Hereâs a list of other places you can charge up, donât know if there are any prices though.

http://www.evchargernews.com/#regions

Not sure if youâre interesting in doing it your self, but Iâd be willing to walk you step by step threw the conversion. I've converted 3 of my own cars (a datsun truck, ford ban, and a vw bug) and a few for neighbors. I've also converted cars to run on hydrogen, ethanol and biodiesel, by far EV is the easiest.
If youâre interested hereâs what it would entitleâ¦

- The engine compartment is first cleaned out of any gasoline components.
- Electric components are then installed in exchange.
- A battery bank is built and incorporated.
- Existing starter and driving systems are connected.
- Turn the key, step on the gas pedal sending more energy to the electric motor, & thus more power to the drive system, which in return creates more speed, more acceleration.
- The system has normal automotive top speeds and acceleration, typical to the vehicle your modifying. If your top speed was 85 mph and your acceleration was 1 mile per min, then this will be what your left with after the conversion.

The methods are extremely simple, making the process possible for anyone, everyone, ANYWHERE.

Typical tools, hardware & supplies are used, making access to parts available for all.

Electric Conversions can be easily accomplished in ANY model vehicle, even tractors, Generators, types of machinery, etc.

Project lengths range from 1 day to 1 month.
If youâre interested I wrote a guide on it which is available at http://www.agua-luna.com/guides.html

Hope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions if youâd like assistance in making your first self sufficient steps, Iâm willing to walk you step by step threw the process. Iâve written several how-to DIY guides available at http://www.agua-luna.com on the subject. I also offer online and on-site workshops, seminars and internships to help others help the environment.

What is your take on maket socialism, like in the former Yugoslavia?

yugo car info on CAR Blueprints / 1978 Saab 900
yugo car info image
Q. I think it's the most practical, open and free of the communist systems.

Worker control of the means of production on the context of a market economy appears sound policy.

Your take on it?
@ Miwa: As it's owned by the collective of the workers and they garnish their income from the results of their cooperative, odds are it's better managed than capitalistic enterprise.
@ Farmer: Yugoslavia is the end result of centuries-old tribal and ethnic hatred, not the end result of market socialism.

Yugoslavia had an economic crisis in the late seventies, just like everyone else except the oil oligarchs.

Answer
Well I was born and lived half of my life in the ex Yugoslavia.

The things were very black an white. On one hand, it was really cool to have free health care for everyone, totally free schools, including colleges and all the universities, free social security, pensions and all that...

On the other hand, it still WAS a totalitarian country. Speak against the government and you could wake up in a nice barb-wired courtyard on an island somewhere far out on the sea where you went through a very rigorous program of systematic physical abuse and brainwashing. Have you read "1984", the book where the idea of Big Brother comes from? Those things really did happen. They weren't pretty.

Goli Otok was one of the places like that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goli_otok
But that article on Wiki doesn't really give you an idea what went on in there.

Worker control and part-ownership is a great idea in theory, but it didn't work so idealistically well in real life. You always get some people who are lazy and want to get the same share as everyone else without working so much; and you always get some people who are greedy, work more but try to get more wealth, too. Social differentiation is inevitable. And if the political system doesn't provide a vent for all those desires, they happen illegally. Even in that system, there were people who got very rich by abusing the poor. There were the laws and the system for the poor, and the rich were usually above them.

Another thing: the closed-in market economy meant hardly any import and export. I don't know about you but I like to wake up to a cup of coffee (imported from Brazil), eat some chocolate (imported from Switzerland), get dressed and put on my jeans (imported from Italy) and drive to work in my car (imported from France or Germany).
Under the ex Yu, you didn't have all that. You had tasteless locally produced coffee-substitute, home made cookies, jeans that were OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive because they were smuggled from Italy illegally and you had "Yugo" brand of cars. That was it. No choice at all.

Don't get me wrong, Yu had its good points. Living there was pretty easy. You didn't have to work nowhere nearly as much as we do now in capitalism. Everything was much more... leisurely.
If you worked in a state-owned company you could pretty much fall asleep at work and you were in no danger of loosing your job cause the syndicate organizations were so strong (and they owned the company anyway) that you wouldn't get fired. This kinda impaired productivity a bit sometimes, though.
Just like Miwa said, if something belongs to everoyne, it belongs to noone- Everyone will use and abuse it, but nobody will take care of it, repair it, maintain it.
That's how factories got neglected, the machines broke down and people didn't care to repair them. "They belong to everyone, let somebody else do it."

On the other hand, people were idealistic. There were a lot of voluntary actions, such as building railways and similar - you went there just because you were SO SURE that the country you lived in was the best, and deserved your work even if you didn't get paid, and you wanted to help the country and the people and you loved Tito and everyone was one big happy family. Yup, that's how far the brainwashing got to you. But you actually didn't mind, cause it was FUN. A bit like the Americans nowadays, they are still dead sure they live in the country of the free and the brave, despite Guantanamo and economy downfall and censorship of the media.

Blaaah, what a novel. :)
Anyway, if you want any more info about living in a socialist country from firsthand experience, message me.

What do yall think about these k98 Mauser rifles?

Hey I want to get a k98 not for collecting i want one for shooting and hunting so what do you think of theses? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=204836574 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=204707428 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=204650836#PIC http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=204894944#PIC What do yall think of Mitchell's Mausers ? Thanks!!!!

Answer
Mitchell's Mausers = avoid. It's like going to a used car dealership that sells cars that look like new for dirt cheap. If it looks too good to be true, it is...it's a fraud.

As for the others:

1st one - Russian capture, so the markings may have been changed. Kind of kills the history of the gun.
2nd one - Nice one, but no matching #s. Probably a good shooter.
3rd one - Matching numbers, but a capture.
4th one - Not matching numbers, but probably also a good shooter.

The 4th one shows no signs of pitting on the receiver (compared to the second), so that would be my choice of the four. And if you're going to get a 98k, you might as well get one that has the original markings intact. I know you're not looking for a collector gun, but if you want a Mauser strictly to shoot and nothing else, save yourself some money and get a Yugo Mauser 24/47 for cheaper than a 98k can be purchased for...

Answer
I actually don't give a damn. That's his problem. I feel sorry for his wife, mother, and two children 'cause they're gonna have to deal with (and try to recover from) his dumb*** behaviour/drug problem. But, I do think that what he did was extremely embarrassing and damaging to his organization. Because when you fu** up real bad like that, the rich conservatives that donate money to Invisible Children are gonna be closing their wallets from now on. It's kinda hard to recover from the whole masturbating and screwin' with cars in public thing. I mean, it wouldn't have been all that bad if he had done the typical "get high, throw up/pee on yourself in public" bit. Then, we would've just shook our heads and been like "That poor man needs help." But now, we're all like: "He nasty! And he crazy!"

Poor dumb***

How was it that United Way offered Sandy Hook families their condolences 3 days before the shooting occured?

ceaseless

More twists to the Sandy Hook narrative. On December 11 Google indexed the United Way website that offered condolences to the familyâs of Sandy Hook.

This is a full three days before the actual shooting that took place on December 14 2012.

Below is a excerpt from the December 11 united Way page. Donât we all love a good conspiracy?

United Way extends our most sincere condolences and prayers to all those families affected by the devastating events in Newtown/Sandy Hook, Connecticut. While the eyes of the world may be on Newtown/Sandy Hook, to several staff, volunteers and contributors, Newtown is home. We will stand with the community and everyone affected directly and indirectly by this tragic event as we face the days and weeks ahead.

United Way of Western Connecticut is committed to providing support and resources where and when they become identified and needed. As people from our area and beyond respond to this heartbreaking tragedy, they are turning to United Way looking for ways to help. In response, United Way of Western Connecticut in partnership with Newtown Savings Bank has created the âSandy Hook School Support Fundâ that will be able to provide support services to the families and community that has been affected.
See the United Way article here: http://govtslaves.info/three-days-before-shooting-united-way-extends-our-most-sincere-condolences-to-sandy-hook-families/

Answer
I was quite blind until I started searching things myself. There is too much questionable info for it all to be just photoshop. 1) What happened to the other shooters that they had on video the first day? 2) How many guns were actually found on site? and where were they found, in the trunk of his car? 3)They can't even decide if the shooters mother was involved with the school! 4)There's a news video of a father "preparing" to be sad for the interview even though he is laughing off camera. 5) Why did not one of the funerals have an open casket? All of these questions (and more) have come from a couple days of watching different news reels from different dates and different stations. If the media cannot, after nearly a month, have factual information about a horrible event, I fear what kind of accuracy they have about all issues.

any way i can fix my car having electric problems after driving through a puddle?

Michael

about 2 weeks ago it started flooding in my area due to some bad storms. i was going home from work and went about 50mph straight through a deep puddle in the road. i didnt to it on purpose i couldnt see it. but waves shot well over my entire car and dimmed my headlights and the backlit stuff on the inside like my guages and the air conditioner settings. this was only momentarily and it started working normal again seconds later. a day or two later the water that had soaked up into my carpet started molding and smelling gross. i had to scrub my carpet with pine sol and it got rid of that problem. but now just today, my car electronics just started going crazy. my stereo, fuel guage, temperature guage, and even my headlights keep randomly dying then coming back on. sometimes 5 or 6 times consistently. that light that comes on when someone isnt wearing their seat belt stays on and wont go off. but heres the thing. its just me and 2 of my buddies who just graduated with me and we are on our senior trip. its 2 18 year olds and a 17 year old who know next to nothing about cars. and we are 5 hours away from home. if my headlights go out while im driving at night again i could get into a serious accident and potentially really hurt or kill one of us or another driver. if i get pulled over for it the cop will make me fix it immediately and i dont have the money. is there something i can do to fix it or at least delay the negative effects til we get home? any help or info to whats going on with my wiring would be helpful. thanks.

ps the car is an 05 chevy malibu classic
dont go through the carwash with a malibu? why not? i did that this morning actually, could that have caused it instead of the puddle?

Answer
That's why I wouldn't have a Malibu. If you ever get it fixed, never go to the carwash.

It should eventually dry out. There may be corrosion. Tighten all electrical connections you can see and spray with WD40. Maybe you should just file and insurance claim.

Can I get a material helping me to learn and understand car mecahnics /electronics in the net free of charge?

What to say when buying a used car from owner?

thisguy93

Well this is my for my first car and I am using Craigslist. so yeah sounds incredibly dumb but i have no idea what to say, any help would be great.
btw i could only find this car on craigslist cause of the price range given to me, so yea..
Also What to ask?

Answer
I agree with the others
check the vin to make sure the car is being sold legit. Then ask...

1.Ask for the condition of the car
2.If it still needs repairs or what was the last repair needed.(this determines if you have a dying car on your hands)
3.Has there been any accidents (I had to get a copy of my driving record to get insurance on my first car b/c the previous owner had a wreck and it showed up under me :/ )
4.Also I would ask if I can get my mechanic to take a look I don't have one but that scared off so many scam artist.
5.You really don't have to ask about the mileage most post will tell you and if this is your first car it's going to have a few good miles on it unless you by it new so you have to accept that. 70K is up there but ok for a first time car that you will replace in 2-4 years. If they don't post the miles I would ask what ever info a poster don't give there is usually a (fishy) reason they didn't

HELP! PARKING FOR UNIVERSAL STUDIOS ORLANDO QUESTION?

Anarkai27

Need advice from a denizen of the Orlando area, or former... or frequenter... lol! Going to UNI. tomorrow NIGHT... need some info. on ANY good places to park within a 1 mile ... or if coughing up $20 to park there is a better idea? Thanks!

Answer
Go with self-parking. It is only $12 (not $20).

The enclosed parking garage utilizes moving sidewalks, escalators and elevators, on-site wheelchair rental, and an on-site kennel. Vehicles can leave the garage and return the same day by stopping at the toll plaza upon re-entry and presenting their parking ticket.

Daily parking fees per vehicle:

- Cars, Vans, & Motorcycles: $12.00
- Buses, RVs, & Cars with Trailers: $15.00
- Preferred Parking: Available for automobiles for just a few extra dollars.

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2009
Parking from 6pm - 10pm will be $3.00.

Parking rates on Halloween Horror Nights event nights are
- Before 8pm: $12.00
- 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM: $3.00
- After 10:00 PM: Free

Whichever entrance you use, you will arrive at the tollbooth entrance to the two huge parking structures; one is five levels high, the other six, and they hold a total of 20,000 cars. At the booth, an attendant will collect your daily parking fee of $12 ($15 for RVs, buses, and trailers). Annual Pass holders can show their pass for free admission to the parking lots. Parking is free to everyone after 6:00 p.m., which offers an extra incentive to visit CityWalkâs restaurants and clubs or see a movie on a day you donât have a ticket to the parks. Donât bother asking the booth attendants for maps to the park or parks youâll be visiting that day; they donât have them. Youâll be able to pick up these guides later as you enter the parks.

Once you have paid the parking fee, you will be directed to your parking space. Your parking options are virtually nonexistent. You will be directed in such a way that the two parking structures are filled in the most efficient way possible. The parking structures are ingeniously designed so that as one level fills up cars are routed directly to the next level, without having to corkscrew upwards as you do in most multistory parking lots.

One of the great things about Universal Orlandoâs parking is that most of it is covered, thus protecting you and your car from the broiling Florida sun and those sudden afternoon downpours. During the busy summer season, however, the open roof is filled fairly early in the day to spare the lot attendants the worst of the sun and heat. Great for the employees, not so great for you. That means that if you arrive at midday you may find yourself parked on the roof. I am told that if this is not acceptable to you, you can ask the attendant to direct you to sheltered parking on one of the lower levels. It may take some polite persistence but it can be done.

The various sections in the two structures are named after movies or characters (Jaws, Jurassic Park, Cat in the Hat, and so forth); rows are indicated by numbers, with the first digit indicating the level. Thus âJaws 305â would be on the third level. As always in these situations, itâs a good idea to make a written note of your parking lot location. Better yet, take a picture of your row number with your cell phone or digital camera!
Universal Orlando claims that the farthest parking space is just a nine-minute walk from CityWalk. That may be stretching (or shrinking) the point, but moving walkways speed your journey.

Handicapped Parking. Handicapped parking spaces are provided close to the main entrance on Level 3. Follow the signs for handicapped parking and you will be directed accordingly.

Preferred Parking. If youâd like to shave a few minutes off your walk, you can pay $18 ($5 for annual passholders) for a parking space thatâs almost as close to the main entrance as the handicapped spaces.

Valet Parking. Get in the Hollywood spirit by having an attractive young attendant park your car for you as you pull up right at CityWalk. The fee is $10 if you stay for less than two hours and $20 for over two hours. Overnight parking is not permitted. Annual Pass holders pay a flat rate of $10 no matter how long they stay. Just follow the signs. If you are coming just for lunch Monday through Friday, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., you can have your parking stub validated at most full-service CityWalk restaurants (Emerilâs sometimes validates at other times including dinner and on weekends). A stay of under two hours is free and two to four hours is $10, but a stay of over four hours will cost you the full $20, even with validation.

Passenger Drop-Off. If youâre in a generous mood, you can drop your family off near CityWalk before you go off to park the car. Look for the signs directing you to the drop-off area, which is just across Universal Boulevard from the Valet Parking area.

Parking for Resort Guests. If you are staying at one of the on-property resort hotels, use any of the entrances and follow the signs to your hotel. All of the hotels have separate gates, with separate, paid parking facilities for guests. Non-guests can also use these lots but at rates higher than those charged to guests and considerably higher than the fee levied at the main theme park par

The NAFC is BUGGIN me!!?

Bruce

First of all, I'd like to say I am glad to be back! And I hope I am welcome back. I really really missed posting! And seeing all your posts too. I missed you guys, and I'm happy to be here! Now here is the kink in the road of life I see ahead. The NAFC is bugging!!

That's right folks get YOUR FREE Welcome aboard gifts are rattlin rapala lure, $20 in gas rebates AND the fishermans weigh and fillet set!

Guess what I say to that?! Hell no! I allready know this club is a load. Just their writing style tells them off, aside from that I've read so many answers on here with negative feelings toward them.. Why would I be stupid enough to try?

But guess what?! I'm keeping the bass car decal (Throwing out the one that says NAFC) The lisence holder (Even though it looks flimsy) I'm keeping these field test stamps AND the cool looking holo card with my name on it... Why? JUST FOR KICKS! cause... Its FREE, FREE FREE!!!!

Now I suppose my real question is, how do I get these bastards off my back? They say (If you dont respond in 10 days, we will have to give it to another nominee!) But they allready sent two of them! (The previous ones were with no free junk) and this new one I got today with the junk in it. How do I send them to hell?! Thanks guys!
I am back! Absolutly! I'll try to answer (And ask) As much as I can. And I'll try to do it at least a few times a week if I'm really jammed.

Anywho, you mean to tell me they are going to spam my mailbox for the rest of my life?!
1st, thanks for the hello... 2nd, good idea... 3rd, thank you for the warm welcome. Lastly.. Should I keep calling you enuf?/... Or do you have something more forest related?
Wait... The bigfoot username threw me off.. Re-reading your answer, Enuf certainly does not write in that manner... Andee??
GoS) Thanks for the welcome... So now I get how they got my info

* Gets Energy sword * Gander Mountain!!!!! I WON'T FORGIVE YOU!!!
A little late there Andee, I knew that two months ago
Mike) Whew... Okay thats good. Thanks for telling me that. I was afraid I'd be a spam target. Oh and thanks for the welcome!
Brian) Not to be rude... But if somone sent you a chocolate bar in the mail with a turd filling you would keep it? (Actually thats a pretty good idea... I could send it to my worse enemies! And they wouldent notice the crap till they bite into the evil center!!) I wonder if thats illigal..

Answer
They'll stop after awhile. I had someone tell me they get peoples info from fishing license sales and I don't know if that is true. I do know that some companies will sell peoples names and these companies do get peoples info from when they fill out a warranty card for a rod, or reel then send it in to activate the warranties. I always fill out the warranty cards for rods/reels and send them in just to see offers for magazine subscriptions, clubs like north American fishing club(NAFC) come in the mail later.

Is there any native hindi speaker willing to help me learn hindi?

stephen k

Is there any native hindi speaker willing to help me learn hindi in exchange for help with english? English is my first language and I also teach English as a foreign language so I will be able to help them with english.
People have been mentioning that the internet is a poor medium for learning.. while i agree, I also want to point out that communication is the key to learning foreign languages. having a degree in french, and teaching english as a foreign language, I often have to communicate in an immersion environment. Learning through communication is very effective and that's all I need. Grammar bogs people down, one only needs the basics of grammar to effectively communicate, and the rest can be picked up in context.

As for the script, I read and write devanagari.
Also, I didn't say i needed someone to TEACH me the language... just that I needed help learning. What i mostly want is a hindi speaker that just wants to practise speaking english with a native.. and in turn, we'll also have conversations in Hindi, for my benifit.

What is the date of birth of Priti Zinta?

Q.

Answer
Born31 January 1975
Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India
OccupationFilm actress
Years active1998âpresent
PartnerNess Wadia (2005â09)
Preity Zinta (Hindi: पà¥à¤°à¥à¤¤à¤¿ à¤à¤¼à¤¿à¤à¤à¤¾, pronounced [ËpriËt̪i ËzɪɳÊaË]; born 31 January 1975)[1] is an Indian film actress. She has appeared in Hindi films of Bollywood, as well as Telugu, Punjabi and English language films. After graduating with a degree in criminal psychology, Zinta made her acting debut in Dil Se in 1998 followed by a role in Soldier the same year. These performances earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, and she was later recognised for her role as a teenage single mother in Kya Kehna (2000). She subsequently played a variety of character types; her film roles along with her screen persona contributed to a change in the concept of a Hindi film heroine.[2]

Zinta received a Filmfare Award for Best Actress in 2003 for her performance in the drama Kal Ho Naa Ho. She went on to play the lead female role in two consecutive annual top-grossing films in India: the science fiction film Koi... Mil Gaya, her biggest commercial success,[3] and the star-crossed romance Veer-Zaara, which earned her critical acclaim. She was later noted for her portrayal of independent, modern Indian women in Salaam Namaste and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, top-grossing productions in overseas markets.[4] These accomplishments have established her as a leading actress of Hindi cinema.[5][6] Her first international film role was in the Canadian film Heaven on Earth, for which she was awarded the Silver Hugo Award for Best Actress at the 2008 Chicago International Film Festival.[7]

In addition to movie acting, Zinta has written a series of columns for BBC News Online South Asia, is a social activist, a television presenter, and a regular stage performer. She is the founder of the production company PZNZ Media and, along with ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia, a co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kings XI Punjab. She is known in the Indian media for publicly speaking her mind and openly expressing her opinions, and consequently has sparked the occasional controversy.[8][9] These controversies include her being the only witness not to retract in court her earlier statements against the Indian mafia during the 2003 Bharat Shah case, for which she was awarded the Godfrey Phillips National Bravery Award.

Early life and background

Zinta was born into a Hindu Rajput family from Rohru in Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh.[1] Her father, Durganand Zinta, was an officer in the Indian Army.[10] He died in a car accident when she was 13 years old; the accident also involved her mother, Nilprabha, who was severely injured and consequently remained bedridden for two years. Zinta called the tragic accident and her father's death a significant turning point in her life, which forced her to mature rapidly.[11] She has two brothers; Deepankar and Manish, a year older and a year younger respectively. Deepankar is a commissioned officer in the Indian Army, while Manish lives in California.[12]

Zinta, who describes herself as a tomboy as a child, has emphasised her father's military background as having a lasting impression on how family life was conducted. He asserted the importance of discipline and punctuality to the children.[13] She studied at the Convent of Jesus and Mary boarding school in Shimla. Although she confesses to loneliness in the boarding school, she noted that it was compensated by her finding a "... perfect set of friends" there.[10][14] As a student, she developed a love for literature, particularly the works of William Shakespeare and poetry.[10] According to Zinta, she enjoyed schoolwork and received good grades; in her free time she played sports, especially basketball.[11]

Upon graduating from the boarding school at age 18, Zinta enrolled at St Bede's College in Shimla. She graduated college with an English honours degree, and then started a graduate programme in psychology.[15] She earned a postgraduate degree in criminal psychology, but later took up modelling.[10] Zinta's first television commercial was for Perk chocolates, the result of a chance meeting with a director at a friend's birthday party in 1996.[10] The director persuaded Zinta to audition for the spot, and she was selected. Afterwards, she appeared in other catalogues and commercials, including one for the soap Liril.[11][15]

signing over a certificate of title in florida for a car i am gifting what to do where it asks for dealer info

stan l

what is a registration number? i have already filled in the vin number. what do i put in place of dealer info, since i am an individual. it asks for license and tax number. also, do i have to fill out the back?

Answer
I believe you only have to sign where it says
owner selling the vehicle - date it - mileage -
and you may have to get it notarized

but you are not a dealer - (are you?) nope

probably all you need is on the front - call DMV tomorrow

AND a "bill of Sale" - on your computer - a letter format
that it is given to XXXXXXX
describe the vehicle - VIN - mileage

you date and sign that (and keep a copy in your computer)

all the best

I'm selling my car due to our 3rd baby on the way and need to upgrade to vehicle with third row seating. I have a buyer interested in taking over my lease instead of purchasing my vehicle (its leased and lease isn't up until 2012) I discussed how to sell it with GM but never how to do a lease take over. Can someone please tell me so I don't have to bother my dealership just yet? What fees are there etc

Answer
Call GMAC (now known as ALLY) 1-888.925.2559 They will advise the details. there is a $250?? lease transfer fee and the will have to approve the transfer. The good news is that GMAC will formally transfer a lease and recognize the new lessee. Unless this has changed with their new owners ALLY? I did get GMAC to approve a lease transfer back in 2009.

Is there an alternative to using children car seats on airplanes ?

german car news on Auto-news' Top 15 Gasoline saving cars you can buy in Germany
german car news image

Agnes

I am travelling with my toddler soon who is 24 months old. I cannot bear the hassle of bringing his car seat with me on that plane, as it is very bulky and i heard you can be prevented from using it in the aircraft. Does anyone know of any alternative to provide seat safety/comfort for a toddler on an airplane ? Thanks.

Answer
I'm a former Flight Attendant and I now fly a lot with my own kids.

Yes there is an alternative to a car seat. It's called a CARES harness;

http://www.kidsflysafe.com/

Here it is on the FAA's website;
http://www.faa.gov/passengers/fly_children/crs/

It's easy to carry and safer than using an adult seat belt alone, which don't fit toddlers very well. People who have used it, really liked it. So far, I've never heard anyone complain...

The other plus is that it is now approved by a number of different national air authorities. This is still an issue with car seats.
http://www.kidsflysafe.com/in-flight-documents.php

One niggly complaint is that the child's legs stick out when using this. Other parents have countered that their children were very comfortable and simply sat cross-legged on the seat (I suggest bringing slippers anyway). Yes, children can sleep comfortably in it.

The biggest minus is the price. It's $75 for something that can ONLY be used for the flight. It's not approved for use in a car. Meanwhile, there are very light, easy to carry car seats for as little as $40-50, good seats that car seat techs like. It's a myth that seats have to big, bulky and expensive to be safe (although Britax does make some nice seats...)

If you search with "CARES harness Ebay" or "Craigslist", you'll see that some people have started renting these gizmos out. I can't tell you much more. I would actually suggest buying one and then selling it on once it's outgrown by your last child.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you need a car seat at your destination, it's really risky to check them. They are considered "delicate items" and the airlines wont take responsiblity for any loss or damage.

I'm making this point because on my last long-haul flight, three of our four bags didn't make it. I saw at least two car seats while I was looking for my bags but I had no worries. We had our car seat with us and my daughter was safe for the 2 hour drive home. The bags were brought to us two days later.

A CARES harness seems a good deal if you are leaving somewhere that you don't need a car seat, like visiting a big city where you'll be taking mostly public transportation. Or, many grandparents keep car seats for their visiting children and grandchildren. Never rent a car seat with a rental car company. They are infamous for being old, dirty, expired and you don't know the seat's "history" (like if it's been in an accident). I had a bad experience and I'm not alone. Don't risk your childs' safety this way!

Just to clear up some of what you mentioned, if you are in the U.S. and you have a seat for your child and bring a FAA approved car seat for that child, IT CANNOT BE REFUSED. Your right to use that seat is protected by LAW. This is not the case elsewhere in the world. I have had my American car seat removed by Lufthansa (German), Iberia (Spain) and Ryan Air (Irish but doesn't allow any car seats in any form anyway).

If you are flying a non-U.S. company, search with the name of the airline followed by "children" to get to the page with information on what they require in car seats. Sometimes too, I have "gotten away" with my American car seat on Lufthansa and once on Air France.

Since your child is 2 years old, they cannot sit in your lap. Almost all airlines have this rule, although some are flexible with round trip tickets. The FAA is strict about it. Someone mentioned double seat belts. Some foreign airlines still use these but they are dangerous and banned by the FAA in the U.S.

As far as getting a car seat through the airport, I manage it flying alone with three children since each was 4 months old. There are contraptions like this to get car seats through airports;
http://www.gogobabyz.com/products/gogo_kids.html

Some complain that it's hard to get on and off the cart. I saw one on my last flight and it does roll nicely and the child can ride in it.

Another product makes the car seat into a backpack and some parents get creative with bungee cording their seat to the stroller.

I simply use a small metal luggage cart and an extra bungee cord to secure it. My 3 year old could actually ride in this and it saved me major money and I check the stroller (she hardly needs it anyway anymore unless she's tired).

Honestly, it doesn't have to be too horrible taking the car seat with you but weigh up the facts and make an informed decision based on your specific circumstances, budget and needs.

About eight years ago, I wrote an article on flying with children for a local newsletter. I kept it on line, adding to it over the years and then put it on a blog to help other parents (and my flying partners). It's based on both my professional and practical experience as flying with my children. People have written in from all over the world and contributed. It's totally non-commercial, my little personal mitvah so feel free to visit;
http://flyingwithchildren.blogspot.com

My contact information is at the end.

Do what works for you and have a good flight!

I'm looking into getting a new car, any opinions on an Audi?

tom_carla

I'm planning on buying a car within the next 6 months. I really like Audis a lot but I've heard good and bad things about them. I like the A4, but if they're too much of a hassle I'll look at something else.

Answer
I'm assuming you like the Audis because of their looks, performance, interiors, etc. Yes, they are quite excellent in these aspects (especially the interiors, which are really attractive).

As far as reliability, maintenance, service - there's good and bad news. The A4 in recent years has become a more relia ble model, probably more so than the A6, its bigger brother. I think Consumer Reports has rated them to be at least average or better than average - which is based on ownership surveys. Are you buying new or used? If you can get new, or at least a certified pre-owned, you will have some things covered.

Whatever model you get, in any case, you will really need to pay strict attention to maintenance schedules. Audis aren't cars that you can just forget about in terms of regular maintenance - they are German luxury/performance cars. They are not cheap to maintain or fix. You can save quite a bit on service costs if you go to an independent garage as opposed to a dealer service center, but it will never be like getting a Honda or Ford serviced in terms of cost.

I would suggest you get in contact with local Audi clubs who can advise you about their experiences with ownership and where to find good service facilities. Good luck!

My friend has a 2007 Audi A4 Quattro that he wants to sell. He bought it off an ad on Craigslist a few years back. The problem is that he is an undocumented immigrant that does not have a title or a registration or any other documents. He is a licensed driver and bought it legally. He has a receipt from the sale. What should he do?

Answer
Tell him to contact the DMV to see what can be done.

It's bad news that he doesn't have the title. I take it he's been driving it unregistered for 6 years also?

God this is going to be screwed up. Only the DMV can help him get through these difficulties.

Can a thick plastic bumper dent a metal bumper on another car without cracking?

Katelynn

I had to call the cops because the neighbor hit my car and refused to give me his insurance info- I saw him do it.

BUT, the cop is saying that because the neighbor's bumper isn't bent or cracked that he doesn't believe us...

The neighbor's bumper is thick plastic, mine is metal.

Answer
it does depend on the gauge of the metal on your car, also the type of metal
the same goes for the plastic or composite bumper on the neighbors car, new composits are very resiliant and resist dents cracks and scratches
get a second opinion just because he is a cop does not mean that he is an auto expert
this is all to say it is extremely possible and you should get on top of it before its too late

Some questions about cooling system in the car?

Veraniego

So as I am having some issue with my car I'm after a bit more understanding, can you please tell me about....

The coolant temperature sensor and/or the radiator fan switch... the question here is, which of these 2 elements is the one who actions the radiator fan to work?

Can you please explain how these things work and how to find out wether they are working tr not?

Answer
I have to be honest with you about one thing, when asking questions on any site like this, complete info is required to give a proper answer. For example, your asking about coolant temp sensor and radiator fan switch and what operates what. Depending on the car make, engine, etc, depends on the answer to your question. Some engines use both and others use just one. The coolant temp sensor is the sensor that a cars ECM uses to help regulate fuel issues among other things, depending on engine temp, and one of those is sending a signal to the ECM so it can turn on and off the fan relay power/ground depending on car make.Yes, a radiator fan switch can turn the fan on and off, but auto makers realized as of 5 years ago or so that rather then have switch and extra wiring in a engine harness turning the cooling fan on and off at a predetermined temp that a simple signal from the ECM could do the same job with a relay in the power dist box. The coolant temp sender is how the temp gauge in the dash shows what the engine temp is, some engines the sensor/sender operate through the same unit. So now you are completely confused, year, make, model and engine size please. Thank you.

News volkswagon commercial using animated people?

car news vw on Volkswagen Concept T - Auto Shows - Car and Driver
car news vw image
Q. In the new Volkswagon commercial (where two people approach the car and a man looking from above sets the alarm off to keep them away) are the two people in certain scenes animated? Some friends seem to think they are, and some don't...any ideas?

Answer
Not main charecters.
The people in the background might be added in later to avoid getting lots of people for one commercial, but main charecters are too important to animate. Because it would stir up suspicion that VW is cheap and doesn't want to hire actors and actresses for their commercial.

Hope this helped.

What is a wiser buy, an Audi A4 Quattro or a VW jetta hybrid?

Lane

Hello! I am currently torn between these two cars. I realize theyre somewhat different. On the Audi, I love the luxury interior and the quattro AWD for trips to the snow or rainy days. I also love the A4s fantastic safety score. For the Jetta Hybrid I love the gas mileage, 48 highway with a turbo is pretty much unbeatable! Between the two cars, which would be more reliable and worthwhile in the long run? I'd get a top trim Jetta Hybrid which is about the same price as an A4, so price isn't much of a factor. I can't decide which to go for. Any advice helps! Thanks.

Answer
Both are German and both are VW's, so reliability is always going to be a concern after the factory warranty is expired.
The good news is you have a factory warranty for the first 3 years.

I don't know where you are getting your pricing from. You shouldn't pay more thant $30,500 for the highest trim of the VW Hybrid and the base model Audi quattro with a manual transmission ($35,595 MSRP) has a real sale value of about $34K (add $1200 for an automatic).

Apples to apples, the VW Hybrid is way less expensive.
And you can buy a better car than an Audi for $36K.

The mper

well the Democrats have promised everything. from Healthcare for all 47 million Americans who dont have one, more welfare, more prescription medication and foodstamps/vouchers for those who do not work because they refused to go to school, signing Kyoto Protocol, Law of the seas treaty from the UN and using the cap and trade system to end global warming.
All sound like good ideas. But how will it all be paid for??

Raising Corporate Income tax
America collets 35% of coporate incomes. China is 25% and india is 30%. Hong kong which is part of China is just 16.5% http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_rates_around_the_world So what do you think will happen if the American Corporate Income tax is raised??

Do the Rich really not pay enough taxes??
http://www.taxfoundation.org/files/wp1.pdf WHO PAYS TAXES AND WHO RECEIVES GOVERNMENT SPENDING? UPDATED IN MARCH 2007.
To cut your time, refer to pages 22-25, 27-31, especially 34 and 38. you can read the whole thing if you want. Also see http://www.taxfoundation.org/news/show/250.html Latest Federal Individual Income Tax Data

Global warming. http://www.ecoearth.info/shared/reader/welcome.aspx?linkid=88838 Japan, Spain, Italy Face $33 Billion Kyoto Payments . Imagine what the US will pay.

America is in $56 TRILLION debt to its self and other countries that compounds at a rate of $2.5 Trillion a year.
The cost per U.S. household of unfunded promises made by federal, state and local government: $516,348. That means that every household in the US owes $516,348, then add you personal debt like credit cards and house/car payment. THINK I AM KIDDING?? http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-05-28-federal-budget_N.htm?csp=34 USA on the hook for $59 trillion</a>.

How will it all be paid for??

Answer
The top 5% income earners pay 85% of the total tax bill. As a small business owner, I can tell you that everything you list that the dems want to give away makes me cringe. My business does not make a profit after I pay my taxes. I'd like to be able to afford to hire some more employess, but can't because the gov't takes my money and gives it to the lazy bastards who don't want to work! It is not a dem issue, it is a generational issue of dope smoking baby-boomers wanting to make decisions based on emotion rather than intellect.

How to describe a crime scene?

car news gossip on ... , indossa una pelliccia eco: le foto - Foto e Gossip by Gossip News
car news gossip image

Jenna

I am writing a horror story where basically a stalker stalks a bunch of teenagers. This description will take place the next chapter after the first murder. Here's how I started it:
"As she approached his house, she could see something wasn't right"
And then I was thinking of mentioning the cop cars, crime tape etc.
Any help with what else you might find at a crime scene like this?

Answer
Elements of a crime scene (murder): evidence of forced-entry (or lack thereof if the killer was let in), evidence of violence and/or struggle (broken furniture, blood etc), usually a corpse, though sometimes there is simply enough blood and body parts that lets the cops know someone is dead. Around the immediate scene might be torn/crushed shrubbery or other evidence of a hasty get away.

There will be ambulances (in case there are survivors, and if there are none, to take the body to the coroner's lab). Police cars will be evident, but you will also find 'plain' looking police cars that detectives use. Detectives will sometimes not be in uniform and instead be wearing suits and ties. There will be a lot of police tape, lights and cameras. If it's a major case, there will probably be news helicopters overhead. Police will establish a perimeter with tape and prevent civilians from entering the crime scene. Usually family and friends who are visiting will be taken to the ambulance for counselling and questioning.

There may be survivors or eyewitnesses being questioned by police and journalists. If it's at night, the lights will be particularly glaring, but the crowd will seem more furtive, and most people on the street will probably be inside their homes instead of going out for a look. During the day, the journalism presence would be stronger, and there might be several news vans parked up and down the street. If there are other trails of the killer, those pockets of evidence will also be taped off and may gather a small crowd. Young teens are most likely to want to get a closer look, as well as any particularly nosy 'neighbourhood watch' people. Some people will also start to gossip about the family. Some will be upset, some will want any attention they can get from news cameras.

Why is it that everytime I go to Yahoo Philippines, the front page is always about celebrities?

Rooster

Isn't there something more important to report on the headlines of the days than angel locsin gaining weight or some 30 year old pinoy kissing some 17 year old conception gal in his car? Is entertainment and celebrities the focal point of the country's news????

Answer
I don't know if this is a ranting question or whether you sincerely are looking for an answer but here it goes:

Gossip/Celebrity fads is a technique used by various corporations (inc. Yahoo, Broadcasting companies, Fox etc) to maintain the desired reaction of the public, in this case, glued to TV screens and any associated programming/event. This leads to higher viewer ratings and funding, the technique works best with an unemployed, house-based, low-income demographic.

More importantly, global issues that have an indirect effect on the Philippines are shunned since it'll enable lower-income filipinos to make wiser investments. This leads to higher incomes and a growing demand for an acquired form of entertainment. Broadcasting corps then search and invest in expensive writers and producers to fill in the time slots, haggle their sponsors to invest in new/non-tested material, leading to a higher risk of financial loss.

If i want to move to the USA from Hungary, how should i start the whole thing?

I mean the house, the furniture. i want to live in a big city, like new york, in a flat. where should i get the furniture, and everything. how does it go in the usa? and how much money i need to move in?

Answer
Are you sure you want to move to the USA in the state it's in? I mean Obama's ruining our country, and you, your children, your grandchildren will all be inheriting this country's problems and debt if you move here legally. Try reading some news about what's going on here, it's pretty grim, and jobs are minimal.

If your sure you want to move here, you should try to contact the US embassy in Hungary, where they can give you more information about becoming a legal citizen or to live here legally on a work visa , and the steps you have to take to obtain either. That is the first thing you have to find out, and the most important. You will probably need to sell your house (if you own it), and you will have to have your furniture and belongings shipped (which can be more expensive than buying new stuff when you get here). We have been looking to move to Germany, and it'll cost about $8000 US dollars to have our stuff shipped, and we don't have very much, just to give you an idea. Before you move anywhere, you need to have a job already lined up. You can't just move (especially to another country) with no job waiting for you when you get there. And I have no idea about prices to rent flats in Hungary, but in NYC (or any other large city), expect to be paying $1200+ a month, plus utilities, depending on where and what kind of apartment your renting. Our rent is $586/mo +utilities (about $100), we live in a tiny one bedroom apartment in a rural area in a not-so-nice part of town. It is very expensive to live here, and gets more expensive the bigger the city, and the better the part of town you live in. You can also expect to earn about $10/hr at an entry-level position job (unless you have education and a lot of experience, you'll be starting at entry-level). Expect over rent and utilities, for an average single person, about another $500-$800/mo in expenses for food, household items, and other necessities. If you own, or plan to buy a car, you can figure a $200/mo payment (if you get a nice used car, it'll be more for a expensive car or new car), then figure gas at around $2.80-$3.20/gallon, and you must have auto insurance, which will be about another $100/mo depending on your age/driving record. It is also a smart idea to have health and homeowners/renters insurance, which is an additional $100+ a month depending on pre-existing medical conditions and lifestyle (like smoking), and if you live in a bad part of town or have really valuable things. Then if you want any non-essential things, such as a cell phone (aprx $70/mo depending on plan), cable tv and internet ($100/mo for a both, r about $60/mo for just one), or a home phone (about $30/mo), expect these costs as well. Then you finally have taxes. Sales tax (on every item you purchase), is between 7%-9%, depending on what city and state. Then you have yearly income taxes, which depending on your income, marital status, if you have children, if your a student ect... will be roughly 20% of your income (as I said, depending on many factors, but typically most people pay around 20%, some more some less). Other cities and states also have income taxes, as well as property taxes, road taxes, school taxes, an taxes are not optional not to pay. Depending on where you live, many cities have other taxes to fund project too. All these taxes simply depend on where you live, and with Obama's huge spending, expect even higher taxes soon.

It is very expensive to live here. All the numbers I gave were in US dollars, and may me higher or lower depending on where you move in the US. It's a huge step, be sure you want to make it.

what are the advantages and disadvantages of a electric poered car?

LaurenLove

are they likely to become the car of the future in the United States?

Answer
I think we'll be hearing about a lot of electric cars in the near future. Electric cars are clean, very inexpensive to operate, and someday they'll be cheap, too.
*
Here's a site with about a thousand EV owners and their cars:
*
http://www.austinev.org/evalbum/
*
Thanks to new battery research, there are lots of new EVs in development, mostly in Asia. Here's a partial list:
*
From China: The Happy Messenger - only costs $10000, goes 150 miles per charge:
http://www.greencarcongress.com/2005/12/chinese_ev_comp.html

Also from China: the BYD car, designed to be affordable, with a 250-mile range:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=106930

The GEO EV, from Korea. It goes 155 miles on a three hour charge:
http://joongangdaily.joins.com/200505/18/200505182238171109900090609062.html

Also from Korea. The ENERGINE Electric-Pneumatic hybrid.
It runs on air and electricity. No gasoline:
http://www.energine.com/e_main.php

From Japan. The Subaru R1E. Charges to 90% in 5 minutes, costs under $18000:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8995780

Also from Japan. The Mitsubishi Colt EV. It can charge in 20 minutes, and is priced under $20k.
http://aftermarket.autoblog.com/2006/10/12/mitsubishi-looks-ahead-with-an-electric-i/

A chinese EV slated for import to the USA next year. It gets 200 miles/charge, and costs $28,500.
http://www.milesautomotive.com/products_xs200.html

The Tesla sports car:
http://www.teslamotors.com
*
And if you don't want to wait - and if you don't mind not having the very latest technology, there are many small entrepreneurs doing electric car conversions right now, that you can buy for as little as $5000. Details are on this page:
*
http://www.squidoo.com/cheap-electric-car/
*
Even better technology is in the works. Supercapacitors, for instance will enable charging in as little as 5 minutes. That technology may be ready as soon as next year.
*
Also, don't believe what you read about polluting EVs. It's not true. Electric vehicles are many times more efficient than gas cars. That means they make far less pollution per mile even when power plants burn dirty fuel (and don't forget that gasoline refineries spew pollution. And refineries use lots of electricity too!) Plus the EV is the only car that refuels by wire (the electric grid is 95% efficient.) Other cars must have fuel shipped by inefficient and polluting trucks.
