ok the nascar COT sucks and i'm pretty sure thats why nascars ratings have been way down in past years.if things don't get better is it possible they may switch to another design or just go back to using stock body style cars.in my opinion i hope they do.this damn COT looks like a truck with a plow hooked to the front.
thank you ice.i completely agree with you

Answer
The COT is not the only reason ratings are down. It's some of the people in charge, how they make the decisions they do, the lack of consistency in their rulings, and their negative targeting of drivers who will not do what's in the best interest of what NASCAR wants them to do. The fact of the matter is Dale Jr is the most popular driver. It is well understood that the France family has long been threatened by the popularity of the Earnhardt family. NASCAR even tried to force Dale Jr to make a business deal with a sponsor that NASCAR was working with instead of Dale Jr using his own choice of sponsors. NASCAR was very upset and now you see what has happened to Dale Jr. They have negatively targeted Dale Jr to the point they ruined the ratings of the sport. There is nothing wrong with the sport of stock car racing. The only problem with stock car racing is the people who run NASCAR.

The COT is safer. The aerodynamics are off.

-----------------
Quote from article

When Dale Earnhardt Jr. was selecting a primary licensee for his merchandise three years ago, he narrowed his choices to Motorsports Authentics, the main player in the industry jointly owned by track operators Speedway Motorsports and International Speedway Corp., and VF, a more mainstream producer and distributor.

With the decision still up in the air, France and Helton visited Earnhardt and his sister, Kelley, at their JR Motorsports shop in Mooresville, N.C.

France made it clear that Earnhardt should go with MA because it was best for the industry. Since the France family is the primary stakeholder in ISC, one of MA's owners, it was also best for the family business.

Another time, France scolded the Earnhardts inside the NASCAR hauler for striking a deal with Adidas when NASCAR's licensing office had been working on a deal to aggregate driver rights for Nike's Starter brand. When Earnhardt signed with Adidas and was no longer available, Starter ended its pursuit of a deal in NASCAR and exited the sport.

That's a side of France that hasn't been exposed as much.

----------------
When you keep the sport's most popular driver down you kill ratings. Brian France is trying to play the fans for fools.

Jeff Gordon fans, what do you think of Gordon's chances at that elusive championship?

Gordon #24

This is Gordon's words from the following article on what he thinks of his chances.. Read it and tell me what do you think:

http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/headlines/cup/09/12/cup.preview.loudon2/index.html

"I've had big leads before wiped away when the Chase started, and we're on the flipside now," Gordon said. "While it has not been a stellar year for us so far, that could change in the final 10 races. We just need to give it our best effort every single weekend and hope that we surprise them in the Chase."

- Jeff Gordon

What do you think?
Hey mo:
Thanks for noticing..
It's cool, huh?
I like it...
Well, to get it, you have to get a Yahoo 360 Account
You can upload a personal picture from your computer there and on your "Edit Yahoo Answers" thing, just change picture to "Use 360 Picture"... I don't understand why Yahoo Answers! doesn't allow us to do that!??
Caution: I dunno why, but there is two types of 360? I don't get that... The first one I got, I was able to download the pic but it didn't appear on Answers.. I tried the second one, and it worked!
Tall Man:
Exactly my view...only
Before he retires, I wanna see 2 or more championships!

Answer
This year he will not win the title. Last year had so much speed in every race and whenever the car came off the hauler on Friday it was fast and immediately a top ten car for the race. This year something has gone terribly wrong. I think the 24 has not adjusted to the tire combination and has not found the sweet spot on the 1.5 mile tracks.

Eventually before he retires I would like to see him win a title under the chase but I am not sure if that will happen. We'll see. I want him to win race before the season is over.

I'm proposing 1 week before christmas. that's when she flies up from school in FL. i live in michigan. what are some good ideas? what are your stories?

Answer
Need more info on you two..!! Maybe you should post it here and say you need some help with answering a question..and show her LOL!

Are you meeting her at the airport? There might be an opportunity then, or she might just be very tired.

If you guys do karaoke or something at a bar you could sing it to her..

You must be fairly sure she'll say yes (i.e. talked about it already).. so you could take another leap of faith and do it infront of other people like at the theatre..?
maybe take her somewhere- just say youre going somewhere special.. and maybe take her to the place you want to get married (say her local church, or a reception venue..).. just stand and look, and when she says 'what are we doing here?'.. you say' i'm just scoping out venues for a wedding. What do you think about it?' and when she says 'oh yeh its a pretty building' you can say' no I meant about getting married.*get down on one knee.' and that is your cue to elaborate..

Or If she isnt staying in your room, you could write a message on the ground outside her window...

Or set the ring in a model train or car or something.. or a boat (although it wouldnt be good if the boat capsized!!

A quick search on michigan shows you have 90 native species of Trees.. Is there a tree museum or something? Take her there.. Or to some really really boring museum..she might get a bit hacked off but it would make an interesting story.. after you propose.

You could follow her and tell her she dropped something.. when she turns round you have bent down and presented her with a ring.

Or tll her there is a bear on the loose/next doors kid has escaped..some random story so that she goes into the (safe) forest/ark to look, her mind will be on finding the missing kid (whatever, so the proposal will be out of the blue.

You could do a Treasure hunt.. this will take a lot of planning, but basically make up and print out a sheet of clues. Attach it to some charity, with a prize to be won (just say Big Prizes to be won or something).. then you have to follow the clues on foot round the town..? and at each place there is a letter and a number. Obviously the letters are out of order... so once you guys have all the letter (obviously you play along so she thinks you are a team..) then you have to order the letters with the numbers.. and it spells out.. something like "will you marry me?".. or maybe just another location..

One of the most romantic proposals i remember was off ER when Ant proposed to Dr Corday.. he hid the ring in the ice machine of the fridge in a house he was showing her (for thm).. and he said 'Will you do me the honour of letting me be your husband?"

I also liked Friends where Chandler told Monica he didnt ever want ot get married, so she got worried. He intended to ask her, he was just winding her up, only she nearly finished it with him.. sort of back fired, but all worked out ok in the end.

Have you asked her parents permission..?

Good luck, I hopr you find your perfect moment, and that everything goes amazingly.
If you grew up in the same town then you must have lots of memoies/special places..

Where is my coolant leaking out of?

Alison

Background info: This is a 2002 Saturn SC2, 4-cylinder engine, with about 150k miles on it. It has had no mechanical issues in the time that my mother or I owned it, from 2003-2012, requiring only routine maintenance, and body work once after a collision with a deer, over two years ago now, after which it had no mechanical issues.

My sister has it now, and she is, for lack of a nicer word, a total dumbass. About a week ago, she came to work and told me that a light in her car came on and described it, and I told her it was her low-coolant light. She HAS THE DAMN MANUAL and checked in there and confirmed this. She said it had not overheated nor even gotten higher on the temperature gauge than usual. A few days later, we were going about 12 miles outside of town in her car and she mentions that she still hasn't filled it. I grab the coolant out of MY trunk (same kind we've always used in her car) and top it off. On the ride, I did not smell any antifreeze.

A few more days later, she tells me that the light is still on and the reservoir is empty. In this car, you cannot access the radiator directly (at least, I can't), so we filled the reservoir and started the car until it stopped sucking everything out of the tank. At one point, she spilled about a cup over the edge of the tank. I had her back up so I could see if she was leaking and there was about a 4-ounce puddle where she'd been. I had her leave her car there for a minute and back up some more, and there was a new, slightly-smaller puddle. I crawled under her car and coolant was gathering and dripping off of what I assume to be part of the frame. It was a flat piece of metal, not a drip-pan, with no openings and it was cool to the touch. It was below (on the bottom of the car) and about 6 inches behind the coolant tank. However, we started her car several more times over the day and the coolant level decreased only slightly, and was still full in the tank.

This morning, she has arrived to work and told me that the tank is again empty. Can you tell me where it is leaking out of? If you know right away, could you tell me what the repair will cost? This has been a great car, and if SOMEONE keeps up on the maintenance, I am sure it will keep running for several more years and I would not hesitate to put a $300-500 repair into it. I would appreciate it if only people with some kind of mechanical knowledge--more than that of this 22-year-old girl--answer, as answers such as "could be a bunch of stuff," and "I don't know, take it to a mechanic," are just frankly going to hack me off.

Answer
Hi! Your most likely answer is (and you're not going to like this) that given the age of the car, and the miles on it; your water pump. Other candidates for problems could be a leaking hose, assuming they have never been replaced, and the fact that some front-end damage has occured in the past. The worst case scenario is a warped cylinder head, or blown head gasket allowing coolant to enter the cylinders. Saturns had a problem with warping heads for a while and were known for it. Any of this can usually be corrected by a good repair shop, unless the warped head is too far gone. Find one you trust, and ask them to run a coolant trace if the leakage cannot be readily seen.

Can a decent electric car or truck conversion be made using a 9.8kw gas/generator with batteries?

Philip

I read about it in an old Mother Earth news (1993?) The car was mainly powered by the gen. The batteries would only kick-in for hills, boost of power, etc. I am interested in this design, anyone know if it works well? Can I use a 480volt 3ph gen-set to power motor/Drive for more efficiency/power? I already know about the volt, prius, leaf.

Answer
On the web a few years ago, and this was ultimately sold on Ebay; was a Geo metro that was modified to run strictly on a 10 horsepower/7500 KW Lister clone/"Listeroid" Diesel engine imported from India.

On a level surface, it could get to 55 Mph/88KPH if you did not mind the slow acceleration. Going up hill it would slow down considerably. They ran it with WVO and did better than 75 MPG.

If you stick with a lightweight car, or light small pickup truck like a Chevy Luv, or similar vintage Mazda or Datsun, you could see reasonable results. You would have tradeoffs to consider as well, since batteries are heavy.

Options to consider for your use- Aircraft starter generators for the drive motors. Diesel as your fuel for your genset. If you opt for one that has limited external monitoring circuitry, that will lighten the load some.

Hey there i just got a ford mustang 1998. Now obviously since its a 1998 it doesn't have an auxiliary input. Which i would like so i can play my iphone through the cars speakers. What can i do to get an auxiliary input in my car/how much would it cost just any info you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Answer
Does it have a cassette player? You can buy an adaptor that has a dummy cassette on one end, and a small stereo jack plug on the other. Place dummy cassette in player, connect jack to sound source, and your problem is solved. You should be able to pick one up in a shop or online for around £10.

Otherwise, you can buy a small radio transmitter that plugs into your audio device, which can send the sound to your car's radio. Just turn on and tune in.

Okay. I've been looking all over the internet trying to figure out how much it will cost to open a car dealership. But can you get any franchises for opening a dealership? By the way I am 15 and have no clue what it'll cost. So say for instance. I wanna open up a new car dealership. How much will it cost and is there any franchise for it? I heard opening a business with a franchise cost $20,000-50,000. Or what about a used car dealership? Say like if I wanted to open a lamborghini and ferrari dealer or a mercedes or Ford dealer or a bmw dealer and is there a franchise? How much will it cost opening that? Please give me some info and number.

Are there any websites that provide info on local car dealership offers?

fleepflawp

I know a lot of websites like this have sprung up recently in various sectors, from amalgamating info on drink specials at local bars to deals on local electronics, etc. Does anybody know if there are any for car dealerships? Thanks!

Answer
I don't know about your area, but in my area, LA (Lower Alabama), many of the local dealerships have their own websites. Grab a newspaper and look at the ads in the automobile section. Or, look in the yellow pages of the telephone book. It's possible they'll have their web address there.

Why do illegals deserve more attention from our President than US citizens?

They should all be deported so we US citizens can find work and pay taxes.

Answer
I cant agree more with you...I hate illegals, last week a fucking mexican bitch backed up into my RANGE ROVER with her "modified honda civic" with mexican flag decals all over it, she had 4 kids in the car ranging from ages 1 to 5 that im sure IM paying for their HEALTH CARE, FOOD and RENT SUBSIDARIES..and she didnt have any fucking imsurance so I have to burn a whole through my pocket to fix my shit

I wrote a letter to the president, I hope you like sarcasm, heres a copy of it:

heres a letter I wrote to the president:

"Dear Mr. Obama:

I'm planning to move my family and extended family into Mexico for my health, and I would like to ask you to assist me.

We're planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and we'll need your help to make a few arrangements.

We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws.

I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here. So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Calderon, that I'm on my way over?

Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.

2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.

3. Please print all Mexican Government forms in English.

4. I want my grandkids to be taught Spanish by English- speaking (bi-lingual) teachers.

5. Tell their schools they need to include classes on American culture and history.

6. I want my grandkids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school.

7. Please plan to feed my grandkids at school for both breakfast and lunch.

8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.

9. I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico, but I don't plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won't make any special effort to learn local traffic laws.

10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from their president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer.

11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my housetop, put U.S. flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.

12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.

13. Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy.

14. I want to receive free food stamps.

15. Naturally, I'll expect free rent subsidies.

16. I'll need income tax credits so that although I don't pay Mexican taxes, I'll receive money from the government.

17. Please arrange it so that the Mexican Government pays $4,500.00 to help me buy a new car.

18. Oh yes, I almost forgot, please enroll me free into the Mexican Social Security program so that I'll get a monthly income in retirement.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all his people who walk over to the U.S. from Mexico . I am sure that President Calderon won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

Thank you so much for your kind help"

what are some good vaction spots for a family of four?

We want to spend about 2000 dollars. The week we will be going is around the first part of August. We can drive or fly. We don't want to go to Gatlinburg, TN

Answer
Consider visiting New Orleans!

NOLA is one of the world's special places with an ambience unique in North America, and remains so even after Katrina devastated it in 2005.

Katrina flooded about 80% of New Orleans with salt water, and the water stayed for almost a month. Much of the city is still struggling to recover and all you have to do to see devastation is drive around. It will take years for NOLA to fully recover from Katrina.

However, the parts of the city that tourists usually visit were not flooded. It's not a coincidence - the French Quarter and other old parts of the city were built on relatively high ground and only suffered wind damage from Katrina. Almost all of the damage has been repaired and you have to look closely in the FQ and city center to see that Katrina happened at all. You should visit and see for yourself.

Note that the City of New Orleans is only part of the greater New Orleans area. The GNO area had a population of about 1,400,000 before Katrina and is estimated at about 1,200,000 now (July, 2007). The absent 200,000 are mostly from the City of New Orleans and the parishes of Plaquemines and Saint Bernard, which were the worst-flooded parts of the metro area. Jefferson Parish - juast to the west of the City - suffered relatively minor flooding and has fully recovered.

You can drink the water, the electricity & phones work, and services like the post office, hospitals, schools, and police/fire/EMS are operating. Restaurants, stores and shopping centers are open.

Municipal services like street cleaning & trash collection collapsed after Katrina. Those services were fully restored in late 2006 and it is no longer an issue.

I recommend staying in the French Quarter (Vieux Carre") if you can. There is a very wide range of selections available, from moderate guest houses to very exclusive "boutique" hotels. Search Yahoo Travel and Travelocity for ideas and also check the hotel websites. Go to www.frenchquarterhotels.com for some non-chain hotels.

You don't need a car to get around in the French Quarter, Central Business District, or Warehouse District. Also, the parking regulations are Byzantine and there are lots of Parking Control Agents. If you drive or rent a car, leave it in a lot or garage unless you are traveling away from downtown.

The regional transit authority (www.norta.com) sells 1 and 3 day passes that offer unlimited use of buses and streetcars for the day(s) you select. There are also lots of taxicabs.

Regarding crime, use the same common sense necessary in every major city in the world and there is little chance you will be a victim of anything except a need to visit the gym.

New Orleans has mild weather from late October to early May and the city stays green all year most years (rarely freezes and almost never snows). We pay for the mild winters with hot, humid summers â particularly in July & August. The good news for summertime visitors is that hotel rates are lower.

Things to do:

There are many sightseeing opportunities in the greater New Orleans area, including carriage rides/tours, plantation tours, swamp tours, ghost tours, and even Katrina disaster tours. The steamboat Natchez also does a harbor tour. There are numerous tour companies and your hotel can help with the arrangements. Try to avoid scheduling an outdoor tour until you know the weather forecast for the day in question.

The Saint Charles Streetcar is the oldest continuously operating street railway in the world and is a "tourist attraction" in its own right. It is part of the public transit system, as are the Canal Street and Riverfront streetcar lines: http://www.norta.com/

There is always music, but the bands change: Go to www.bestofneworleans.com and click on Music then Listings or to www.offbeat.com and click on Listings, then Music. Note that music clubs often advertise "No Cover", meaning there is no charge for entering. However, clubs with "No Cover" often require that customers buy a beverage each for every "set " of music (which can be every 20 minutes) so know the price before you sit down. The clubs do that because some people will sit in the club all evening drinking water or nothing. It is also a good idea to pay for each round of drinks (in clubs on Bourbon Street) as it s delivered so there can't be any confusion at the end of the evening.

About certain alcoholic beverages: Realize that some famous drinks are VERY potent compared with regular cocktails that have only 1 to 1 ½ ounces of alcohol. For example, a Hurricane is basically 3 or 4 ounces of rum in something like red Kool-Aid, and a Hand Grenade has at least 4 ½ ounces of Everclear + rum + vodka mixed with melon liquor. They donât necessarily taste like an alcoholic beverage and it is easy to over-indulge.

Wander around the French Quarter, enjoy the architecture, watch the street entertainers (do tip), and visit some of the historic buildings that have been turned into museums (go to www.frenchquarter.com and click on Historic Attractions).

Assuming the weather is good, you can collect a sandwich lunch and eat in the riverfront park (watch the shipping) or in Jackson Square (a very nice park).

The Riverwalk shopping center has an air-conditioned food court with dining overlooking the river (www.riverwalkmarketplace.com). The Canal Place shopping center is in the French Quarter and has a cinema and higher-end shopping (Saks 5th Avenue, Brooks Brothers, etc.)

The lobby for the Westin Canal Place Hotel is on the 11th floor and overlooks the French Quarter. It is a great place for an afternoon drink/snack:(www.westin.com).

Cafe du Monde is in the French Quarter and you shouldn't miss having cafe au lait & beignets (www.cafedumonde.com). Another great coffee shop is the Croissant d'Or (at 615 Ursulines Street), which is open from 7:00am to 2:00pm and has food in addition to pastry.

The Palm Court restaurant is very nice, has moderate prices, and traditional live jazz starting at 8:00pm: 1204 Decatur Street, tel 504-525-0200 (reservations are important and they are not open every day). The Palm Court is closed from about July 25th to about September 25th each year.

All of the famous restaurants (Antoine's, Arnaud's, Brennan's, Commander's Palace, etc.) have reopened. The Pelican Club (on Exchange Alley in the FQ) is not as well known but is the same type experience. Reservations are a good idea, and probably essential on weekends. Tujaques Restaurant (823 Decatur Street) is very traditional and has moderate prices: http://www.tujaguesrestaurant.com/

Cafe Degas is a very French restaurant near City Park at 3127 Esplanade - which is not within walking distance of downtown (5 to 10 minutes by taxi). They are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays (504-945-5635).

The Napoleon House restaurant is at 500 Chartres Street in the FQ, and has a menu of great local dishes: http://www.napoleonhouse.com/

Preservation Hall has traditional live Jazz, and doesnât serve alcohol so all ages are welcome: http://www.preservationhall.com/

There is a free ferry across the Mississippi at the "foot" of Canal Street. It is a short trip but like a harbor cruise w/o a guide: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/canal_street_ferry

The Aquarium and Audubon Zoo are world-class attractions (www.auduboninstitute.org) and you should see them if you can. The Zoo is several miles from downtown. You can drive to the Zoo (which has free parking) or take public transit from the French Quarter.

The Louisiana State Museum is in the French Quarter: http://lsm.crt.state.la.us/ New Orleans is also home to a number of other museums, such as the National World War II Museum (www.ddaymuseum.org) and the New Orleans Museum of Art (www.noma.org). Both can be reached by public transit: The WWII museum is in the central business district but a long walk from the French Quarter. NOMA is not within walking distance of downtown but has free parking. Go to http://www.neworleansmuseums.com/ for info on more museums.

Harrahâs Casino is in the Central Business District: http://www.harrahs.com/casinos/harrahs-new-orleans/hotel-casino/property-home.shtml

New Orleans City Park has an amusement park with rides and attractions for children + free parking (www.neworleanscitypark.com).

Check www.frenchquarter.com for ideas about other things to do.

Hope you have a great time, wherever you go!

Common sense tells everyone but liberals and democrats that ALL human predators dearly hope their targets are unarmed, whether the predator is a home invader, Stalin or Hitler:
-Thomas Jefferson, "Commonplace Book," 1774-1776: ââLaws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

Even pacifists like Mahatma Gandhi "got it," saying: "Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest." An Autobiography, pg 446.

But liberals and democrats always religiously cling to their dogmatic faith that âmore guns leads to more crimeâ no matter how much evidence you shove in their face, including:

According to the latest FBI statistics, Kennesaw recorded 31 violent crimes â mainly robberies and aggravated assaults â during 2008. The reason for the decline is obvious to all sentient Americans: laws regarding safer construction and the operation of cars were strictly enforced.

That means the people illegally selling or transporting guns are almost never being charged under the firearms statutes.

Isn't this how Muslim extremists start the 90% of the civil wars they are involved in?

holeymoley

5/1/13 http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-05-01/six-men-admit-plot-to-bomb-right-wing-rally/4662776

Six British men have pleaded guilty to a potentially deadly bomb plot that targeted a public rally of a prominent right-wing group.

One of the men was under police surveillance, but the plot only came to light after the would-be terrorists' car was stopped in a random traffic check.

In June last year, the English Defence League was holding one of its regular rallies, railing against the dangers it says are posed by Islam.

Five men from the West Midlands packed the boot of their car with a small arsenal of weapons: a homemade bomb containing hundreds of nails and ballbearings, sawn-off shotguns, knives and swords.

The men and a sixth accomplice had also prepared a long letter outlining their motivation.

The document referred to the Queen as a "female devil" who was fooling a nation of "blind sheep".

The English Defence League (EDL) was referred to as the "English Drunkards League".

"O enemies of Allah," the letter said, "we have heard and seen you openly insulting the final Messenger of Allah."

The penalty for this, the letter said, was death.
------------
Then our extremists blow some Muslims up and civil war begins.

-Bing/Google search âcivil wars in the worldâ and determine where they are being fought; then research each civil war and determine who is fighting in them. The results are startling: 90% of them involve one combatant-religion -- Islam. Muslims extremists fight in civil wars against Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, Shamans, Copts, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Christiana, animists and Confucians and all other non-Muslim entities. They fight in China, Russia, Bosnia, Cyprus, Macedonia, Israel, Pakistan, India, Indonesia-Ambon & Halmarhera, Côte d'Ivoire, Kashmir, Algeria, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Kurdistan, Kirghizia, Nigeria, Philippines, Somalia, Turkey, Chechnya, Sudan, Yemen, Thailand, Uganda, Azerbaijan, Mali, Chad, Libya, Bangladesh and East Timor.

-2011 FBI Annual Report on Terrorism, http://www.nctc.gov/docs/2011_NCTC_Annual_Report_Final.pdf, page 11: Of 12,533 terrorist deaths 77 were committed by Neo-Nazi, fascist or white supremacists; Muslims committed 8,886.

Answer
What is so ironic with Britain is it's losing ground with Islam, and there are some high up politicians there that fear Britain could be controlled by Islam in the next decade or two because of the Muslim growth that is happening over there. That is scary stuff coming from a politician, but I am not to surprised about the comment because Canada and the U.S. are following Britain's path and politicians are blind to the Islamic threat to the western world in my opinion.

Is CCP-China becoming a chaotic state as repeated plant explosions occurred in front of CCP headquarters?

Freely

Following last Monday's self-immolation explosion in front of Mao's picture in Tiananmen Square, yesterday a devastated explosion was planted in front of Taiyuan, Shanxi CCP office buildings.

It's said that over 50,000 of similar chaos recorded in CCP offices all over China in 2012.

What does this tell of the Chinese People?
@ Cutie, no evidence nor proof that the planted bombs are "foreign funded". However the self-sacrificed heros did say they did it out of revenge of CCP's cruel and corrupted oppressed rule.
The bombing going on in CCP-China are all planted by Chinese Nationals to show their dissatisfaction towards their own rulers and government while those in the US and India are done by foreign extremists. Haven't DL, crawlwid, elementaryeiji......etc been telling us that Chinese People are very happy under CCP?
@ Mr Liu, The fact that these bombings occured right before the CCP 18th Garbage Meeting is a strong signal to Xi and his corrupted team to cut off all bull$hIt. For instance reforming the hukou or residency permit system has been raised in each and every Garbage Meeting but nothing ever laid down for the last 20 years. Chinese Nationals obviously are fed up with the CCP.
@ Defende of faith "Great Tibetan"

Surely more serious bombings would be seen in front of CCP offices across the country. Over 50,000 chaotic protests in front of CCP offices are raged by Chinese Nationals in the past year, many of them are unreported and covered up by CCP.

Answer
I would say yes, I can see the sign of CCP's ruling decline from the car crash incident at in front of the Tiananmen Square. And I also can see the result of CCP's chaotic rule from this type of suicidal car crash incident.

Those poor Uyghurs who commited suicide in front of the Tiananmen Square are trying to give a warning signal to the CCP. And they are trying to express their displease towards the CCP by committing suicide at in front of the Tiananmen square.

And by the way, there is a news about CCP's provincial headquarter office in Taiyuan, Shanxi being bombed by the homemade bomb. There were 8 people who injured from the Taiyuan bombing, two cars were damaged, and one was died from the Taiyuan bombing. Seven small explosions were occurred at Taiyuan's Yingze street and the Police officers found steel balls, circuit boards and similar explosive materials at the scene.

For a further information about Taiyuan bombing, check the links bellow:
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/china/2013-11/06/c_132863556.htm
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-24830724

It seems the Tiananmen Square car crash and the recent bombing at CCP's provincial headquarter office in Taiyuan, Shanxi can tell us the possible decline of the CCP's ruling regime.
The 2 incidents that I have mentioned above finally show the consequences of CCP's horrible ruling. The people's displease and sentiment towards the corrupted CCP can be shown from the Tiananmen car crash and the recent Taiyuan bombing.

The people who committed the recent bombing in Taiyuan are actually trying to show their displease towards the CCP regime. And they are trying to give a warning signal to the corrupted CCP by bombing CCP's headquarter office at Taiyuan, Shanxi.

The news said actually those people who committed the Taiyuan bombing are actually trying to protest to the CCP regime about the social inequality in China.

I hear about this kind of thing all too often. How is it possible for something so egregious to occur? I can understand a mistake repairing a car, for example, but a human life? Do the perpetrators just shrug and say, "oh, well"?
How forgiving would you be if it were YOUR kidney?

Answer
First off i'm Irish, born and bred and we don't do things backwards here, yes it was a mistake and it was very unfortunate. It has obviously made headline news, as for how they messed up i honestly don't know. The boy now needs to actually find a kidney donar, the only outcome i would be happy with is for the surgeons in charge of that operation to be fired so this kind of error will not happen again.

Best place in Ireland for a family to live?

Sarah M

We are a young family with 2 children and one on the way. We are thinking about moving to Ireland, but need a family-friendly city with good job prospects and a decent hospital near-by. Any suggestions?
Although we have never lived in Ireland before, my husband and children are Irish citizens.

Answer
I'm not Irish but I live in Ireland. If you are from Canada or America, you will not be satisfied raising your family in Ireland. I'm doing it now and I wish I had looked more in depth before we moved here.

If you HAVE to move to Ireland, I would recommend anywhere but Dublin. It is not a child friendly place. Ireland has the largest number of child pedestrian rates in the whole EU (mostly in Dublin), because there are few places for kids to play and unless you have a lot of money you will be stuck in a house that is attached to another having a postage stamp garden. Our standard of living went way down when we moved here. The food prices are the second highest in the EU and we pay about 1,000 Euro ($1,250) a month for 4 people just in groceries. Our average gas bill is 300 ($325) Euro and we don't use it very much. There is a problem with large school class sizes in Dublin (if you can find a school who isn't full to capacity), very bad medical care all over and almost non-existent jobs. They are really feeling the pain of some very bad decisions their politicians made, then retired to live off their high-paying pensions. If Ireland had any b*lls, they would demand that the last two presidents and their cohort's pensions go instead to pay off the debts of homeowners who are teetering on the brink of losing their homes, the failure of its banks and the bailing out of these banks by the taxpayer (yet giving multi-million bonuses to those who helped create the problem through greed (friends in high places), the massive debt to other countries because of the gov't not taking their responsibility to those who voted them in seriously, fixing the schools that are substandard and the medical care that is worse than all of the 3rd world countries I've lived in.

My wife and children are Irish citizens, as well, but we have a hard time finding any real friends here or feeling welcome. We've had to deal with stereotypes, isolation and a general disdain from the day we set foot here. Our children were bullied to a point that we had to remove them from school and home educate. I mean bruising and torn clothes bullying. I saw it happening to other kids in the presence of their parents and the school and parents did nothing. They are much more tolerant of child on child violence than I am used to. Mortgages start (in Dublin) at about $300k and that is for a very poorly constructed or in a bad area house, that is if you can even get a mortgage. The banks are being very stingy at handing those out due to the financial mess Ireland is in.

Edit: Police protection is almost non-existent. I don't know what the police do, but they sure don't stop motorists, motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestrians from doing illegal things, so they pretty much do what they want on the roads and park whever they want (including the end of our driveway). They have not caught the burglar who broke into our house a few years ago.The police will not investigate a home alarm going off, and there is an alarm going off (loudly) every day (if not two or three) for hours in my neighbourhood. Our car was stolen from out driveway, in broad daylight, with us sitting in our living room 5 feet away with the window open, but because we are so desensitized by the noise of our neighbours, we didn't realize it. One of our neighbours got the license plate/registration number of the thieves, but the police told us that it would do no good. They knew who did it, they had done it before, but the police could never prove it. The neighbour who got the plate number would not appear in court, he said, because he was afraid of repercussions, due to the ethnicity of the thieves. When I called back a week later to see if there was any news about our car, they hadn't even filed a report. I had to remind the policeman who I was and why I was calling him. All this and we live in what is considered by the Irish as a good area.

The schools are cutting programs, yet keeping the Irish language and religion programs. So our children will be able to speak and write an almost dead language, taught by one of the highest paid teaching professions in the world who often cannot correctly pronounce or write the language themselves; and a program that is more suited for parents/churches to supply. But because most schools are run by the church parish they cut (although the Irish taxpayer subsidized it) other subjects like physical education and science.

I strongly urge you to think long and hard about this decision.

WHY CANNOT A SCANNING CAMERA DEVICE BE USED TO FIND ROAD BOMBS IN iRAQ?

news 40 car pile up on this morning involved with three others was standing edt vehicles
news 40 car pile up image

scubber1

subs have asdic .planes and ships have radar,if a laser bomb can go through windows .do something to protect our boys

Answer
I use to work in IRAQ as a Contractor Engineer for Haliburton and have seen the destruction and loss of life because of roadside bombs first hand. This is a very good question. However, there are multiple answers primarily because there are many types of IED's (Imprevised Explosive Devices) being used for roadside bombs.

Each type of bomb can be made of different explosive material (dynamite, C-4, fertiiizer, gasoline, etc.). the explosive material is covered with nails, metal shavings, BB's, bits of broken glass, and anything else they can scavange to cause death. In addition, there are many types of triggering devices used to detonate the bombs (electronic, mechanical clocks, fuse, impact/contact, etc.)

Now to answer your question a scanning camera can be used but it is just that - a scanning camera. These cameras only give you a visual of an object. While on a convoy to transport food, water, medicine, fuel, war materials or people, the roads from the green zone (safe area) to the red zones (anywhere outside the green zone) are very long and are used by regular Iraqi citizens. You can't tell whou is a friendly and who is an insurgent. You don't know if a person is bending over to tighten the foot strap on his sandal or placing a bomb. A bomb can be placed there one day and removed the next. They (the insurgents) don't know when our convoy's are going to run, but they do know the major raods we use.

During the war we bombed the hell out of towns and roads. These roads are littered with all kinds of debris, large stones, metal objects, tires, used water cans, wooden crates, abandoned cars, trash piles, and thousands upon thousands of tiny sand mounds. If we were to use a scanning camera we would get just a visual of the object. In order to detect the material within the object requires a special camera with special equpiment to find the explosive material. The problem here is that different cameras are needed for different types of explosve material.

To find IED's a humvey would have to loaded with thirty different types of cameras and detection equipment, each with their own power source. Each vehicle of this type woud cost about a million dollars per vehicle. Even then the success rate would only be about 20 - 40 percent accurate. Sand storms happen all the time (day and night) and come up out of nowhere. These storms impair the vision of the cameras making them even less effective. Using infra red doesn't work because most of the IED's used don't have a heat pattern, and the heat generated by the triggering device is the same size as sand bugs or beatles commonly found in the desert. There are millions and millions of these.

IRAQ has thousands of roads we use and the cost would be prohibitive. In addition, this vehicle would inevatibly have to be the point vehicle in the convoy, and searching for IED's is a very, very, very slow process. This makes this vehicle a prime target for a low tech bomb (fertilizer and ammonia), a RPG, or snipper attack. Once this vehicle was taken out by the insurgents the rest of the convoy would be sitting ducks. This is why you see on the news that convoys are driving down roads at an accelerated speed hopping to drive past the IED's before they explode.

For the remote controlled IED's some (not all)our vehicles do have RF (radio frequencey) jamming devices to scramble the signal used by the insurgents to remotely trigger the device. But because these are typical garage door type triggers, there are thousands of frequencies and sub-frequencies that can be used. On a daily basis the Army Corp of Engineers does a RF signal sweep using a specrtun analyzer to determine which frequencies are in use, and we tune our jamming equipment to those range of frequencies. This kind of works but it doesn't work against triggers that use cell phones, fuses, or impact triggers.

To make things more complicated Iraq is a very large country with lots of splintered factions of insurgents. The insurgets that make bombs in one city use different frequencies in different cities. Depending on who provides the insurgents with equipment (IRAN, Afganistan, Saudai Arabia, etc.), they may only have very low tech IED's that can't be detected until a hummer drives close enough causing the vibration to triger the device. When I was there they found that insurgents would place multiple types of bombs (high and low tech) on the road each with a different frequency. This way they can set them off at different times during the day, week, or month. Unfortunately, because of the harsh environment the Army's equipment does suffer from malfunctions and sometimes our troops aren't trained properly to use them.

These are some of the reason we can't use scanning cameras to find bombs. It's like searching for a single grain of light gray sand on a ten thousnand mile light gray beach. It would slow us down making us a easy target for hit and run attacks and that is what they want. Hope this answer helps.

Pictures of fiery crash on Pennsylvania Turnpike?

Craig N

I remember coming across a webpage once that had pictures of the aftermath of the multi-vehicle pile up that ocurred on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in April of 2003. This was the wreck that involved some 40 cars and left 25 injured and 4 dead just west of the McConnellsburg exit. The wreck was caused by poor visibility due to heavy fog, and prompted the PTC to install the fog warning system that is now in place. The webpage was either a news site of some kind or the website of a volunteer fire department, I think. I would like to find the pictures again for a presentation I am making. Any assistance would be tremendously appreciated.

Answer
I have not been able to find anything on the net, however the local, and most major newspapers would have carried it, and you might find what you are looking for in their archives on microfiche.

No, thank you George W. Bush! Those statistics were culled from 2000 to 2009. Obama wasn't sworn in until 2009. Up until then, Bush baby was the prez.

Read the article -- about half way down it says when those figures were taken.

And what fish carry the most mercury and why?

Answer
The NRDC (National Resource Defence Council) has a great piece on this:

Know Where It's Coming From

Each year power plants and chemical facilities create many tons of mercury pollution, which makes its way into our homes and bodies in fish.
Two of the biggest sources of mercury pollution are chlorine chemical plants and coal-fired power plants. Chlorine plants, which use massive quantities of mercury to extract chlorine from salt, "lose" dozens of tons of mercury each year; power plants emit around 50 tons of mercury pollution annually. Facilities that recycle auto scrap are another big source of mercury pollution, pouring 10 to 12 tons of mercury into the air every year. The most common way Americans are exposed to mercury is through tuna fish.

Power Plants

Coal is naturally contaminated with mercury, and when it is burned to generate electricity, mercury is released into the air through the smokestacks. The bulk of this mercury pollution could be eliminated with the installation of pollution-control devices. Similar devices have proved very successful on municipal incinerators, which were once a significant source of mercury pollution.

But in January 2004 the Bush administration proposed to weaken and delay efforts to clean up mercury emissions from roughly 1,100 coal-fired boilers at more than 460 electric power plants. Essentially, the administration's plan treats mercury as if it were a run-of-the-mill air pollutant instead of a hazardous air pollutant, allowing the Environmental Protection Agency to avoid requiring power plants to reduce emissions by the maximum amount technologically achievable.

Chemical Manufacturing

Big mercury polluters also include older mercury chlorine plants, also called chlor-alkali plants. These plants use mercury to convert salt to chlorine gas and caustic soda (better known as lye), which is used in soaps and detergents, in plastics, and in the paper-making process. More modern chlor-alkali plants use a cleaner, mercury-free technology, but eight U.S. chlor-alkali plants continue to use mercury. (Two of these have announced plans to shift to cleaner technologies.)

At any given time, each of these plants has an average of 200 tons of mercury on site. In virtually every year since records have been kept, chlor-alkali plants have "lost" dozens of tons of mercury in the manufacturing process. These plants cannot account for where the lost mercury goes. Nor can the Environmental Protection Agency, but the agency has failed to set restrictions on these emissions. NRDC air quality tests have detected high levels of mercury in the vicinity of four chlor-alkali plants.

Automobile Scrap

Mercury pollution also occurs when mercury-based light switches from automobiles are scrapped and melted down for recycling. As the switches melt, the mercury they contain vaporizes into the air.

Following considerable public pressure, auto manufacturers stopped using mercury in January 2003. But as long as older cars are incinerated, mercury pollution will continue to escape into the air. To prevent this, mercury-based car switches should be removed at the scrap yard, before cars are shredded and sent to steel mills for recycling. Removing the switches would take less than a minute per car, on average -- a cost that should be borne by the companies that installed them in the first place, not by the scrap industry. Some states have passed or are moving toward legislation or regulations requiring the removal of mercury switches from automobile scrap. But the EPA has yet to introduce standards that will curb switch-related mercury pollution nationwide. More information on mercury in automobiles is available on the Clean Car Campaign's website.

Global Sources of Mercury

Chlor-alkali plants are among biggest users of mercury worldwide. The good news is that the chlorine industries in both India and the European Union, where a large number of mercury-based chlor-alkali plants are located, have made voluntary commitments to phase-out the mercury process completely. Unfortunately, other uses of mercury are on the rise. High demand for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from China's booming construction industry has fueled growing demand for the mercury catalyst used in PVC production. Small scale (artisanal) gold miners around the world, especially in Asia, Africa and South America, use mercury to bind with gold contained inside ore, and then burn off the mercury, leaving just the gold behind. This low-tech practice releases a significant quantity of mercury to the air, causes severe damage to soils, water bodies and wildlife near the mining sites, and results in heavy mercury exposures to the miners and their families. Mercury is also still commonly used around the world in batteries, measuring devices, electrical switches, dental amalgam, and some traditional medicines and arts.

Coal-fired power plants are the largest source of mercury air emissions worldwide. As the price of oil rises, coal becomes a more economically attractive source of energy in countries where it is abundant and inexpensive. Currently, coal-fired power plants supply seventy-five percent of China's energy; in the next eight years, China is expected to add more than 560 plants coal plants -- a pace of more than one new plant each week.

Mercury in the Food We Eat

The most common source of mercury exposure for Americans is tuna fish. Tuna does not contain the highest concentration of mercury of any fish, but since Americans eat much more tuna than they do other mercury-laden fish, such as swordfish or shark, it poses a greater health threat. (For more, see our guides to mercury levels in fish and to eating tuna safely.)

Subsistence and sports fishermen who eat their catch can be at a particularly high risk of mercury poisoning if they fish regularly in contaminated waters. Across the United States, mercury pollution is known to have contaminated 12 million acres of lakes, estuaries, and wetlands (30 percent of the total), and 473,000 miles of streams, rivers, and coasts. And many waterways have not even been tested. In 2003, 44 states issued fish consumption advisories, warning citizens to limit how often they eat certain types of fish caught in the state's waters because they are contaminated with mercury.

I'm going on a road trip with a friend ... from Indiana what are the states good to go through?

Dustin C

I live in Michigan and I'm meeting up with a friend in Indiana. From there we are going on a road trip. We don't know which way we are going to go east, south or west. I'm thinking that the west would be more fun. What states are good to go through? And what direction is better for a road trip?

A very inexpensive option is the India House hostel: http://www.indiahousehostel.com/

Louisiana is the only US state that offers a tax refund program for international visitors:
http://www.louisianatravel.com/shop/tax_free/

Clubs do that because some people will sit in the club all evening drinking nothing (clubs only make money from the drinks they sell - not from the music).

Check www.frenchquarter.com for ideas about other things to do.

Hope you have a great time, wherever you go!

When should I buy a new hybrid car?

Jordan H

I am in the market to buy a new car in the up coming year or two. I want a hyprid becuase of the gas milage ect... I don't really want a super small car Honda insight or Toyota Prius more of a standard size, unless it will get wicked good gas milage. Does anyone know if there will be any new hybrids coming out within the next year or so that I should look for?

Answer
Unfortunately, most manufacturers so not announce their upcoming hybrid release plans. Not all hybrids are created alike (some are more geared towards performance (acceleration and available power) than to fuel economy), and some have more hybrid features than others (full hybrid vs. mild hybrid). So, just because it says hybrid doesn't mean that it has "wicked good gas mileage."

So, you would be best to find the best fuel economy vehicle in the vehicle class that you are looking at. For your choices in the US, I'd suggest:
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/
http://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/

I'm not entirely sure what size of vehicle that you are looking for. The Honda Insight was discontinued in the 2006 model year, so you'll only find that 2-seater in the used market. Meanwhile, the Toyota Prius is currently a midsize hatchback, which is the same size class as the popular Toyota Camry, or Nissan Altima, or Chevy Malibu, or Saturn Aura (all of which also have hybrid versions available) or the also popular Honda Accord (which had a performance-tuned hybrid option available in the past, but is now discontinued and only available used). In fact, of the currently available hybrid vehicles in the US for the 2008 model year, the only ones that are smaller than a Toyota Prius are the compact-sized Honda Civic Hybrid and the Lexus GS450h.

If you are planning on the US Federal income tax credit for your hybrid purchase, the sooner you purchase, the better, as there is a sunset phaseout provision set for after a manufacturer has sold a certain number of hybrids. The Toyota/Lexus credits have passed this sunset already (so no more credits), and Honda is currently in the phaseout period...

Hybrids do cost less in the long term than their conventional counterparts. (Intellichoice used a 5 year ownership comparison in 2006) See http://www.intellichoice.com/press/Hybrid-Survey-2006 and http://www.intellichoice.com/carBuying101/HypeOverHybrids )

While Consumer Reports in 2006 only found the Toyota Prius and the Honda Civic Hybrid would pay off within the same 5 year frame. The Honda Accord Hybrid, the Ford Escape Hybrid, the Lexus RX400h, and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid were also studied. (I'll note that there was a mathematical error in the initial publication of Consumer Reports' hybrid vehicle cost analysis, which a retraction was published later... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11637968/ ) Since this publication, many more hybrid models have become available, so I can't use this to say about hybrids "in general." However, in the US, the Toyota hybrids have sold so many that they no longer qualify for the US Federal hybrid vehicle income tax credit, but Honda and others still have theirs.

Check out the April issue of Consumer Reports if you want reliability information. Here are their top picks for both new and used vehicles:
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/new-cars/top-picks-for-2007-4-07/overview/0704_top-picks-2007.htm
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/used-cars/used-cars-best-and-worst-406/index.htm
and the Prius was just rated top Green Car for the 5th year in a row: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/new-cars/news/2007/04/top-picks-for-2007-4-07/overview/0704_top-picks-2007.htm

The Prius is also in edmunds' used cars best bets list as well, and their lowest true cost to own list (2007 and 2008).
http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/bestbet/articles/index.html
http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/tco/2007/index.html
http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/tco/2008/index.html

Announced hybrids to keep an eye out for are the upcoming plug-in hybrids due out in 2010, a plug-in capable version of the Toyota Prius and the new Chevy Volt.

The hybrid batteries are typically placed behind the rear seat/above the rear axle, and are not prone to damage in a vehicular accident. (Nor is it easy to cut the bright orange HV cables that run under the car, either.) The hybrid battery is disconnected from the rest of the car when the vehicle is off (SOP for first responders is to turn off/remove key to disable vehicle in an accident) and also when the air bags are deployed. Only a poorly-trained emergency department will not approach your vehicle in an accident. (Emergency Responder guides are available from all hybrid manufacturers for free, and most manufacturers also provide free training sessions when asked.)

The hybrid batteries are warrantied (Full, not pro-rated) for at least 8 years/80,000 miles or longer, depending on manufacturer, out to 10 years/150,000 miles if an AT-PZEV model in a CA emissions state.

my dad is really boring and doesn't laugh much and ignores me please give me a funny but HARMLESS PRANK NO GROSS PRANKS OR GROSS ANSWERS

Answer
sneak lemon juice onto their tooth brush

brush your hair or your pet with their toothbrush & leave the hair in it

a glob or smear of peanut butter on their toilet seat or bed sheet looks like poo

White liquid shoe polish washes off easy & looks like bird poo when splattered all over car hoods, roof, trunk, rear window & windshield or on on bikes, 4 wheelers, lawn chairs, anything left outside. Use a water gun or medicine dropper.

Squirt Silly String into the toes of their shoes, making sure none of the string shows where they slip their foot in. Or save hair out of hair brushes & pet brushes & tuck a fluffy wad into the toes of shoes. It feels alive! Just don't make the wad too solid, like cotton cuz that doesn't feel weird.

Smear KY lubricant or vaseline on their door knobs, cabinet or drawer handles that you know they'll open.

A big glob of KY looks like someone hacked up & spit out snot. Drop the glob on their bathroom sink, night stand or someplace you know they'll see it.

A wad of toilet paper with peanut butter, chocolate syrup or smashed chocolate bar in it, left laying on their floor, by their door, on their toilet seat or bed.

Stick mini pads all over their door, mirror, bookbag, window, etc.

Super glue coins on their night stand & watch them try to pick them up or super glue soda can tabs on the bottom of their shoes to make noise when they walk on a tile floor or sidewalk.

Fill their bed with packing peanuts then cover them up. When she pulls her covers back, packing peanuts will fly everywhere.

Carefully remove a dead moth or butterfly off the grill of a vehicle, trying not to crush it, then put a glob of KY on it's belly (or other wash off adhesive) then carefully stick the bug on the bridge of their nose while they're sleeping (during daylight) then wake them , gently, so their movement doesn't knock the bug off & tell them with concern that there's a bug on their nose. You can also use a live earthworm without adhesive or waking them cuz the earthworms movement wakes them. Or you can put a dead bug or earthworm in their food, drink, shoes, etc. The bigger, the better. Handsfull of earthworms work best in shoes, or even in the toilet and it doesn't matter if they get flushed, they'll most likely get out at the other end.

Take something from their room or bathroom that they use everyday & place it elsewhere in the house or car. When they look for it, they'll whine about finding it someplace they don't remember taking it. Then the next day, move the same item to still another location. Do that everyday with the same item till they get smart enough to hide that item from you.

Prank phone calls to pull on boys:
1. a client from Birthright (or Family Planning or whatever free clinic you have in your town) who has identified you as the father of her baby. How soon can you make an appointment to come in for a dna test?" Then play it by ear depending on what he says. In reality, the pregnant girls info is private so you don,t have to tell him a name if he ask.

2. Or, tell him you're calling from a health clinic on behalf of a client who has an std who has named him as one of her sexual partners so when can he come in to be tested? Be prepared to respond according to his unpredicted remarks & questions.

3. Or, tell him you're calling from the Child Support Enforcement Agency on behalf of a client who has named him as the father of her child & he is to appear in court at (a time) on (a date) so he can establish with the judge how much child support can be ordered. Be prepared to respond according to his unpredicted remarks & questions.
April Fools Day pranks:
4. Sneak outside & knock on the door or ring the door bell then run to another door & do the same thing then run back to the first door & when they open it, say "thanks, I thought no one would ever let me in, April fool!"

5. Knock on the door from the inside, yell "I'll get it" then open the door & yell for you sister or brother, saying someones at the door for them. Walk away but where you can watch them look around for 'nobody there' & when they say no ones there, egg it on like someone was, describing a person, then tell them April fool.

6. Write April Fool on a note, wrap it in a box, either gift wrap or shipping paper with used stamps glued on it, cut from old envelopes. Address the box to your family member or put a tag on the 'gift' with their name on it. Watch their face when they open it & find the note but pretend you don't know anything about it. You can leave the gift where they will find it or you can knock on the door, yell I've got it, then tell them the shipping box was dropped off to them. You can also put the April Fool note in an envelope with old stamps glued to it + family members name & address & leave it with the rest of the mail.

7. Get to the daily news paper before anyone else, put a small smear of glue at the corners of each page so they all stick together, rolling

*ROARS LAUGHING*

Ah yes, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, my old Alma Mater of D-3-1-3!!, also known as "Old Hollywood"

Unless "Slackin' Jackson" has changed in 30 years- possible, but not probable- ideally the following will happen.

You want the world war 2 barracks- after 65 years, no mater how well you clean them they still look dirty because they're worn out. So how do you get in trouble if it looks dirty and its not? You can't- and thats good!

Next you want the "Old Hollywood" Barracks- they're about 40 years old, and while they're well maintainted, they still look dirty.

New Hollywood, aka "The Spaceship" is now about 30 years old, should be slackin now due to the same thing.

I miss the rifle ranges at Jackson, they're great.

Chows good, I liked it- on the other hand my mom can't cook.

I was picked up at the Airport in a White Limo! Its probably been scrapped but thats a nice way to join the army. Come to think of it, it was one of the few times the Army treated me like a human.

Bring a baggie with you to basic when you get your hair cut if you want to keep it.

Cattle cars are comfy if you're in a convoy and the FIRST in line. Cattle cars massively suck if you're in a convoy and you're the last as all the dust comes in.

If you shoot expert on your rifle qualifications, as an "attaboy" they'll send you back to the barracks by helicopter- unless you get screwed out of it like I did, because of sumemr thunderstorms made it too dangerous to fly.

CQ is hard work to stay awake from 11 to 2, or 2 to 5 am- but its good for writing letters home.

Fire guard sucks- but it has been a tradition for over 250 years. Orginally it was to feed the fire to keep everyone warm in the barracks back from around 1775 to about 1947ish. Then everything was changed from coal to oil fired furnances- so instead of feeding the fire you simply watched for fire. If you can- get a watch with an alarm and if you can find a place to snooze IF YOU ARE A VERY LIGHT SLEEPER you can set your alarm and snooze on the toilet.

Fire Guard is punishment. I shot my mouth off at AIT and my Drill Sgt punished me- cause he knew I had a g/f I spent in town in a motel having.....intimate relations. Anyhow, SSGT Williams had me pull fire guard from 2 am to 5 am on a SUNDAY morning.

Oh- the most important thing. ALWAYS keep track of your clothing. ALWAYS keep track- the army runs your butt ragged monday through friday and then lets you off easy on Saturday and Sunday. Guess what days the clothing PX is open on? That used to hack me off,,,,whats the use of having a store if the solders can't get to it?

When its CAT 4 outside,,,,,its fun getting hosed with a fire truck! =) That was awesome- its 102 degrees,,,,we had just passed in review in front of our commanding general,,,,,and about,,,,,400 feet away we were hosed down. That was nice.

When you go to the PX, get some WD40 and a few cans of choke cleaner- you can clean an M16/M4 in 10 minutes rather than screw around for an hour.

Never lose your weapon; never forget your weapon. Dying is the second worse thing that can happen to you in life. Losing your weapon IS the worse thing that can happen to you.

My Serial number for my weapon was 3214547- if you see it, remember its been overhauled and rebuilt probably 10 times in the past 30 years.

I forgot the name of my first wife, sometimes forget the name of my second wife. The name of my Senior Drill Sgt was Sargent First Class Pashall, the name of my Assistant Drill Sgt was Sargent First Class Torerees. The name of the most inept, unprofessional, loser dirtbag FILE CLERK WHO BECAME A DRILL TO GET PROMOTED TO E6 was a guy named Sgt. Day.

I'm 50 years old now. I absolutely HATED basic training some 30 years ago. Getting up before the buttcrack of dawn. Screamed and yelled at was a NORMAL morning.

And I'd do just about anything if I could do it again, this time it'd be a blast, it'd be fun. I miss it :(
