I am doing a one page paper in the invention of the car radio in the 1920's! I have searched google and a few other search engines. I really need to find this info so if you can help me that would be greatly appreciated! Thanx!

Answer
WILLIAM P. LEAR (1902 - 1978)

Audio, automotive and aircraft apparatus

Bill From the 1930s to the 1960s, William Powell Lear earned over 100 patents for groundbreaking electronic devices in three industries, including the first practical automobile radio, the airplane radio-compass and autopilot, and the eight-track tape player.

Born in Hannibal, Missouri in 1902, Lear attended public school in Chicago only through the eighth grade. During World War I, at age 16, he joined the Navy; after the War, he became a pilot. Here, Lear received the training that fueled a lifetime of invention in electronic technology.

At the age of 20, Lear founded Quincy Radio Laboratory, the first of his many companies. In the late 1920s Lear was contracted by Galvin Manufacturing Corporation in Chicago to assist Galvin engineers with a car radio design project. Later, a car radio patent was issued to Lear (U.S. patent 1,944,139). In 1930 Galvin Manufacturing introduced this car radio as the "Motorola." It was one of the first commercially successful car radios, and the first major product for the company that later became Motorola, Inc. Paul V. Galvin created the Motorola brand from "motor" (motorcar) + "ola" (sound).

Meanwhile, Lear turned his attention to airplanes. By the beginning of the Second World War, he had invented the first reliable aeronautical radio compass, as well as the "Learmatic Navigator"âan automatic pilot system, which kept planes on course by locking into whatever radio broadcasts the apparatus picked up.

During World War II, Lear's companies were a major source of the technology that helped make an Allied victory possible. Lear followed up his War effort by perfecting miniature autopilots for fighter jets, and by developing the first fully automatic landing system. This latter invention won Lear the FAA's Collier Trophy, bestowed on him by President Truman (1950). In 1962, after he made possible the first-ever completely automatic blind landings of passenger flights, Lear was also honored by the French Government. In the same year, Lear formed Learjet, which soon became --- as it remains, under different ownership --- the world's foremost supplier of corporate jets.

But Lear moved on to yet another challenge: the perfection of an endless magnetic loop recording and playback system. As early as 1946, Lear had been interested in audio recordings; after experimenting more seriously in the early 1960s, he created the eight-track tape player. Lear's tape contained four stereo "programs," running in parallel on eight "tracks," for the entire length of a single, continuous tape loop. A solenoid coil detected the splice where the loop was closed, and sent a signal to the playback head to shift over to the next pair of tracks at that point. Because Lear's system had thinner tape and compact recording heads, this shifting process could be repeated indefinitely.

Lear's system was a great improvement on the esoteric four-track players that already existed; it was also a huge marketing success. From 1965 well into the 1970s, Lear's eight-track players made their way from Lear jets and Ford cars into the homes of virtually every music enthusiast.

Lear's projects in the 1970s included further small-aircraft design, and the search for an antipollutant steam engine. Before and after his death in 1978, Lear earned many other honors, including induction into the International Aerospace Hall of Fame (1981). He also acquired a reputation as an eccentric, since he --- like Samuel Clemens, another native of Hannibal, Missouri --- vividly envisioned time-travel, and even predicted "teleporting" (cf. "beaming" in Star Trek).

Critics should realize that the vision that earned William Lear sneers is the same vision that helped him transform the automotive, aviation and audio industries. If global technology has not advanced as quickly as Lear thought it would, it was through no fault of his own.

Is driving through the outback, Australia, safe for a woman to do alone?

I am planning a trip to Australia in a few months and would like to drive from Melbourne to Darwin. I am just wondering if this is safe to do alone, as I am a woman. From theft to car troubles. Also, any tips would be appreciated!

Also, I am planning on being in Australia for hopefully a year and I would need to be getting a cell phone and bank account. What banks and cell phone companies would be recommended for a backpacker? And is there cellphone service from Melbourne to Darwin? Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks : )

Answer
Well for a start about 40% of Australia is open highway so I'd probably get a real tough guy maybe a brother or someone related or a close friend to go with you just in case. Also, for mobile phone Telstra will work better in most places Vodafone won't work as good and 3 mobile and virgin and Optus mobile... Don't go there. With bank accounts you can get an and savings account which is where you save money in the card account and you withdraw what you put in. So once it's gone it's gone it's not a credit card, but with these you don't go over your limit plus there's a pin number. Good luck and have fun!!!

What is the cheapest way to travel around Sydney Australia with only 2 people?

Amanda M

My husband and I will be traveling to Australia for only about 5 days. There are a lot of places we want to go but have no idea how to get to any of them! Just wondering if theres is a bus system there or should we rent a car?

Answer
I wouldn't bother renting a car in Sydney for just a few days - especially if you are not use to high volume traffic.
There is abundance of tour buses/coaches, and the public transport system.

Will biotin make your hair grow a lot?

Um , wtf

1. Have any of you used it? If so how much has it grown?
2. Does it really depend on who you are?
3. My mom bought me biotin pills meant for adults and the pharmacist told her to just cut it in half and give me one. Do you think this is OK?

Answer
Biotin alone is not going to do that for your hair, that's like have a car and not use gas. You need all the healthy foods from Mother Nature, not just biotin. Do you know what's in the biotin?
Biotin - cauliflower, liver, salmon, carrots, bananas, cereals, yeast, and soy flour. Keep in mind that biotin content is reduced when food is cooked or preserved. One YA poster caused her to have major breakouts from supplements. Another poster said: "
i took biotin to grow my hair out, and it ended up falling out too!! it was worse around my bang area, like where you part it, there waas a huge patch of hair missing so i had to move my part for 5 months!" Another example, one taking Biotin & Zinc: "I have taken Biotin ( 300mcg ), Zinc (15mg) and Folic Acid(800mcg) and I realised my breast have gotten really sore, I didn't know what the reason was, but then I realised that I have been taken vitamins."

NEVER take supplements without your doctor's OK. Buy/use supplements at your own risk. "Many times patients will be taking over-the-counter medications or vitamins or homeopathic remedies not realizing that it can interfere with their regular medications or may build up unhealthy levels within in their body," said Dr. Rober Kershner, who's a surgeon with a background in biochemistry
If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" http://www.foodforhealthyhair.com/ http://sg.news.yahoo.com/food-for-health⦠- or 10 Best Foods for Your Hair.
http://www.channelstv.com/home/2012/07/0â¦
NO MATTER which link you picked, they all suggest the same foods. Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

"You find people oiling hair every single day, the hair sweats and it doesnât get washed. What do you think happens? It goes limp and becomes thin because it is not breathing,â Shamillah Mohammed, a hairstylist at SUQA, says.

5 Hair MYTHS - BUSTED
http://www.gilmermirror.com/view/full_stâ¦

âOld wivesâ tales and ineffective products that claim to treat or rehabilitate hair often have a placebo effect because people want them to work,â says Davis-Sivasothy, author of âHair Care Rehab,â (www.haircarerehab.com). âBut many of these ideas and products actually do the opposite of whatâs intended, and they delay the user from seeking out real solutions.â
Davis-Sivasothy debunks the following common hair-care myths:
â¢Â Myth: Thereâs a magic pill (or oil, serum or balm) to grow our hair faster, stronger or thicker. Unfortunately, no. Hair growth is genetically predetermined and controlled by our hormones. Unless the magic pill affects our genes or hormones, thereâs no hope that it might make our hair grow. (This includes prenatal vitamins. Credit the upsurge in hormone levels during pregnancy for those vibrant tresses!) Basic vitamin supplements can offer slight improvements in hair quality, but only if our body truly lacks the particular vitamin or mineral being taken.

Best answer comes from people with Avatars, showing their healthy shiny, soft, silky, smooth hair.

Any ideas about how to lease a car ? What's the best car to lease ?

I'm a college students and I need a car for college and work . At first I wanted to buy a used car up to about 5000 . But then I decided to lease a car. I work part time and I go to college full time so I don't make a big money to finance a car or something. Leasing would also work for me. I can't afford more than 200/ month by the way. Any ideas about what's a good car to lease ? Any info ? Thanks in Advance

Answer
well it depends how you want to look at it. You can do what the others are saying on here and dont lease so you have a $5,000 car that should last a couple of years but you will have to get one with high milage so with that being said there is a good chance it will have atleast one thing break that you will need to replace and after 3 or 4 years you will be out looking for another car. You can lease get a new car or with how bad the economy is im sure you can still find cars from 2008 on the lot, put down around 2000-2500 down for the car and im sure you have alot of cars to pick through that should fall in your $200 a month price range. Also alot of dealerships offer free oil changes for the length of your lease. At the end of your lease you than have the option of buying the car and financing it for 4 years. So if you plan on keeping the car for years i would go with the leasing, less worry about anything going wrong with it. If you plan on just having a car for 3-4 years and then looking for another car then just buy what you can. I would personally go with leasing. You just look in y our local newspaper to see what companies are offering cars that would fall into your monthly range. If you have any family members that work for any auto company i would go with that company because then you get the family discount. Just fill out the paper work and enjoy your car.

If a car plunges off of a bridge into water what is the rate of survival?

car crash news articles on Lindsay Lohan Hospitalized After Car Crash
car crash news articles image

Kelly Lass

I'm wanting to know about the math and science.... Is there a certain height of a bridge that will lessen the impact of the crash? I know that many factors will contribute to surviving something like this. Also, what is the primary cause of death in car crashes into water? If the car is still completely in tact is the crash fatal due because of the impact? I can't find any articles that explain this... Other than news stories of actual events.;)

Please, no rude or condescending answers. Thanks!

Answer
Car crashes into water are so rare that I am not sure that they can compute a statistically valid "primary" cause of death.

Crashes into water can be roughly divided into three categories:

a. Shallow water. Water does not stop car; car impacts the bottom. Passengers do not go underwater. Situation is the same as if there was no water and the car just hit the ground. As in any other crash, fatalities are typically from head injury or blunt force trauma.

b. Deep water, person wearing seat belt. Water softens the impact, car floats for awhile. Seat belt prevents severe head impact, so person remains conscious and can get out of car before it sinks. Person often lives.

c. Deep water, person not wearing seat belt. Person hits dead, gets knocked out. Car eventually fills with water and sinks. Person drowns.

How can you find information about an accident that resulted in death many years ago?

Natty M

My uncle died in 1989 and even though I was 3 yrs old, I remember him very well, and they day he died too . He died in a horrific car crash. My parents told me alot about it, but they dont really like talking about it. I was wondering if there is any way that I can see pictures or reports about it? I know it was 1989 but it was such a bad crash that it was all over the news for days. There has to be something about it somewhere, right?

Answer
Your local library should have archived news articles on microfilm, so long as you know the exact date you should not have a problem finding any information. There are probably also archived news articles on line. You could probably even type his name into a search engine and something would come up. Good luck.

Why does my car make a constant ticking noise, even when engine is off or in neutral?

car wheel info on ... Car Racingwheels/Rims 586 - China Alloy Wheels, Fashion Wheels/Rims

Mark A

My car is making a weird ticking noise coming from the front. It happens when the car is moving, with engine on or off, or even in neutral. Whenever car is moving, and only when moving, the noise happens.

Gets faster when car is faster.

Thanks for any help!
Does not come from either wheel as we jacked each side up on left the other side on ground, and with only one side spinning at a time, it still made the noise.

Answer
The way you describe this makes it sound like it makes the noise only when the drive train it spinning, wether it be rolling down the road or up on a jack stand. Follow me here: car driving in D, everything is spinning, in N all is still spinning, engine off coasting in N it's all still spinning. Now with the car jacked up on one side, you only have one axle spinning but the transmission is spinning also, now with the other side jacked up and running the other wheel the trans is still spinning. About the only thing it could be by the way you describe it is inside the transmission, something internal. It has to be something that is spinning in every situtation you describe and the trans is the only thing doing that. Could be a loose torque convertor, where it bolts to the flywheel. That would be your simplest fix. If that's not it it has to be inside the trans. Does it make the noise when the engine is running and just sitting, idleing in park or neutral? If not, you can pretty much rule out the loose torque convertor. Your first description is pretty straight forward but your added info kind of makes it a little strange sounding. Good luck.

Paramedic patient steals ambulance

By ELIZA BARLOW -- Edmonton Sun

An out-of-control patient crawled from the back of a city ambulance into the driver's seat and - with lights and sirens blaring - led police on a high-speed chase early yesterday.

The drama began when paramedics were called to a report of a drug overdose at the Shaw Conference Centre, 9797 Jasper Ave., around 12:35 a.m. on New Year's Day.

EMS spokesman Nikki Booth said the two-paramedic crew got out and assessed the patient - reportedly in his mid-40s - and decided he needed to be transported to hospital.

Booth said the two paramedics were in the back of the ambulance trying to treat the patient when he became "extremely violent and dangerous."

"The individual went from being in the back of the ambulance to climbing into the cabin and taking the ambulance for a joyride with lights and sirens."

The two paramedics were able to get out of the ambulance before the man started his joyride.

Gerry Wiles, president of the paramedics union, said the crew had put cloth restraints on the man, who was acting "bizarre," but he managed to get out of them.

"The crew did the right thing. They feel threatened, they get out - let him have the ambulance."

Once he had control of the vehicle, the patient-turned-suspect took city cops, who were called at 12:53 a.m., on a dangerous northward pursuit.

A police sergeant told the Sun the ambulance was driven "at high speeds, erratically, through tons of red lights" as it neared the northern outskirts of the city.

A cop following in a police car eventually abandoned the chase and called in Air-1, the police helicopter.

Around 195 Avenue and 82 Street near Canadian Forces Base Edmonton, the ambulance went off the road and crashed through a gate. The suspect bailed out into a field.

He was nabbed a short time later by a police dog. His name and charges weren't available yesterday.

Booth said as the ambulance was fleeing north, some motorists apparently thought it was on a legitimate call and got out of the way. She said the ambulance may have been in a minor fender-bender along the way.

As for the two paramedics who were ambulance-jacked, they're somewhat shaken up but are doing OK, said Booth.

"They're seasoned professionals and have seen a lot of stuff, but this is definitely not a situation they thought was going to occur."

Wiles said this isn't the first time a patient has stolen an ambulance. "It happens once or twice a year. But this is probably the furthest it's ever gone - usually it's someone driving it around the block."

Wiles added that ambulances must be open between the front seat and back area so crew members can communicate.

Like in Australia when the guy drove the car over the cliff. I'm pretty sure it's too stop the mother getting the child. Hoe often does this happen and can anyone give me a famous case of this? It's for school. Thanks.

Answer
I don't know the statistics, but it must be quite rare. It's in the news every once in a while when it happens, but the other millions of situations with no murders aren't in the news. Also, sometimes the motive remains unknown so even if it happens on visits with the father, it's unsure of the visiting arrangements are his reason for doing it.

After she disappeared for several days, she was found in a car surround by illegal drug paraphanalia, which authorities chalked up to her having memory loss. Any suggestions??

Answer
How Marijuana Causes Memory Deficits

ScienceDaily (Aug. 4, 2009) â Memory loss associated with marijuana use is caused by the drugâs interference with the brainâs natural protein synthesis machinery, according to a study published in Nature Neuroscience.

Though it has been documented that marijuana impairs memory, the precise mechanism for this memory impairment was previously unknown. Andrés Ozaita, of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Spain, along with colleagues in France and Germany, focused on THC, the main psychoactive chemical compound in marijuana, which acts on a specific class of receptors known as cannabinoid receptors. These receptors are known to affect the connection strength between neurons.

The scientists found that THC increases the activity of a pathway that promotes protein synthesis in the mouse brain. This transient increase of protein synthesis was mediated specifically by cannabinoid receptors expressed on the brainâs inhibitory neurons, and correlated with long-term memory deficits in mice. Interestingly, the authors also found that inhibition of this signaling pathway by rapamycin, an immunosuppressant drug used to prevent organ rejection following transplantation, prevents THC-induced amnesia in mice.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/08/090803123240.htm

A new study finds those who've used a lot of marijuana have worse memories and don't think as quickly.

It's not the first study to suggest pot hurts memory, but the findings are stark.

In one memory test, long-time uses remembered seven of 15 words, on average. Non-users remembered 12 of 15. On a decision-making test, those who had rarely smoked pot had impaired performance 8 percent of time, while long-term tokers had 70 percent impairment.

The results are detailed in the March 14 issue of the journal Neurology.

The study involved 64 people age 17 to 49 selected from a larger study group. They were split into three groups: those who had smoked four or more joints per week for more than 10 years; those who'd been smoking for five to 10 years; and those who had smoked at least once but not more than 20 times and not at all in the past two years.

The middle group consistently scored in between the other two.

"We found that the longer people used marijuana, the more deterioration they had in these cognitive abilities, especially in the ability to learn and remember new information," said Lambros Messinis of the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital of Patras in Patras, Greece

A separate study in Neurology last year found higher blood flow velocity in the marijuana users even a month after they stopped smoking. Researchers said the change could help explain other studies that have revealed memory problems in pot smokers

A Harvard Medical School study in 2003 found lasting memory impairment in people who had started smoking marijuana before age 17, when the brain is still forming.

And research published in November indicated that heavy marijuana use might put adolescents who are genetically predisposed to schizophrenia at greater risk of developing the brain disorder.

Some 3.1 million Americans age 12 and older use marijuana daily or almost daily, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. In 2004, 5.6 percent of 12th graders reported daily use of marijuana

I'm confused and I can care less to actually watch ESPN. So there was a guy with a fake "perfect" girlfriend that he was in love with for 3 years, she died, and the entire world is like "OH NOES" even though fake relationships like that happen fairly often... But can someone please summarize it, whether or not he knew (cause I've read/been told he didn't even know?!) how it happened, why it happened, why it's so big on the news, and why do we have to care? Thanks, need to keep up with that particular lingo cause the idiots at my college are still abuzz with it even though it happened awhile ago.

Answer
On September 11, 2012, Te'o said that he suffered the loss of both his grandmother and girlfriend within the span of one day. Te'o told many media outlets that his girlfriend, Stanford University student Lennay Kekua, endured a car accident and died after battling leukemia. Te'o did not miss any football games for Notre Dame, saying that he had promised Kekua that he would play even if something had happened to her. Many sports media outlets reported on these tragedies during Te'o's strong 2012 season and emergence as a Heisman Trophy candidate. After receiving an anonymous email tip on January 11, 2013, reporters Timothy Burke and Jack Dickey of the sports blog Deadspin conducted an investigation into the identity of Kekua. On January 16, they published an article that said they found no record of a woman named Lennay Kekua and that the story of her death was a hoax. According to the report, the pictures published in the media supposedly of Kekua were actually taken of Diane O'Meara an acquaintance of Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. Ronaiah has been described as a family friend or acquaintance of Te'o

Notre Dame addressed the story on the same day as the report. The university said in a statement that "Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia." In a press conference, Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick confirmed the university had hired private investigators to uncover the source of the hoax, and he clarified that Te'o's relationship with Kekua was "exclusively an online relationship". This conflicted with Te'o's father's previous account of their relationship, which said they had met after a football game and that she visited him in Hawaii. Te'o had told a Sports Illustrated interviewer that she had seen him at a USC game when he was a sophomore when they were just acquaintances. Swarbrick said that Te'o informed Notre Dame of the hoax on December 26 after receiving a call on December 6 from the woman he knew to be Kekua claiming she was still alive. Te'o mentioned Kekua's death in at least four separate interviews in the days following the phone call

In response to the growing suspicions that he was involved in the hoax, Te'o agreed to a January 18 interview with Jeremy Schaap in which he maintained his innocence. Te'o explained that he had lied to his father and others about meeting her in person, because he thought he would be seen as "crazy" for having a serious relationship with a woman he had never met. Te'o said he was angered and confused by the December 6 phone call, and he continued to speak of Kekua because the situation was unclear to him. He explained that Tuiasosopo represented himself as the cousin of Lennay Kekua and that the two men had communicated online over the last several years and met once in person at the 2012 Notre Dame/USC game. Te'o also revealed that Tuiasosopo had confessed to him that he was the perpetrator of a hoax. On January 24, the New York Daily News reported that a lawyer for Tuiasosopo, Milton Grimes, told the newspaper that Ronaiah Tuiasosopo was the voice of Lennay Kekua. Speaking on-camera for the first time about the hoax with Katie Couric on January 24, Te'o thought that the voice played on three voicemails from Kekua "sounds like a girl", a sentiment with which many agreed. Relatives of Ronaiah Tuiasosopo later reported that the voicemails were left by Ronaiah's female cousin, Tino Tuiasosopo

Are Conservatives aware that there were at least 11 US embassy attacks under Bush?

The Equali

Probably not. Fox News didn't feed this information to the low-information bigots.

Further evidence that the Republican "outrage" is purely political.

And no, it wasn't the same the other way around. Democrats did not politicize the embassy attacks or try to attack Bush for them - before anyone tries a hand at the false equivalency card.

US Embassies & consulates attacked under Bush:

June 14, 2002, U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan
Suicide bomber kills 12 and injures 51.

February 20, 2003, international diplomatic compound in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Truck bomb kills 17.

February 28, 2003, U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan
Gunmen on motorcycles killed two consulate guards.

July 30, 2004, U.S. embassy in Taskkent, Uzbekistan
Suicide bomber kills two.

December 6, 2004, U.S. consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
Militants stormed and occupied perimeter wall. Five killed, 10 wounded.

March 2, 2006, U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan
Suicide car bomber killed four, including a U.S. diplomate directly targeted by the assailants.

September 12, 2006, U.S. embassy in Damascus, Syria
Gunmen attacked embassy with grenades, automatic weapons, and a car bomb (though second truck bomb failed to detonate). One killed and 13 wounded.

January 12, 2007, U.S. embassy in Athens, Greece
A rocket-propelled grenade was fired at the embassy building. No one was injured.

July 9, 2008, U.S. consulate in Istanbul, Turkey
Armed men attacked consulate with pistols and shotguns. Three policemen killed.

March 18, 2008, U.S. embassy in Sana'a, Yemen
Mortar attack misses embassy, hits nearby girls' school instead.

September 17, 2008, U.S. embassy in Sana'a, Yemen
Militants dressed as policemen attacked the embassy with RPGs, rifles, grenades and car bombs. Six Yemeni soldiers and seven civilians were killed. Sixteen more were injured.

The University of Maryland database also lists 64 attacks on American diplomatic targets during the George W. Bush administration, including car bombs at the US embassy in Yemen and armed attackers assaulting a US consulate in Saudi Arabia.
SCE2AUX2: Wrong again, you low-information fool. Obama called the attacks "acts of terror" the very next morning after the attacks. Romney was proven wrong on this at the debates. Get with the program.
Obama is the most: Show us any evidence that Obama altered Petraeus' reports. BTW, you've already made it clear in past questions that you hate Obama because of his race, so your opinions are invalid.
sister_: No, and neither did Obama. He called it an act of terror. And if Obama did blame a video, what does that mean exactly? Is that a crime? A scandal? You're scraping at the bottom of the barrel for anything.
Nikki: Why is that any different? People were killed (including Americans). US sovereignty was violated.
Two Lanes: "And you never hear of a republican calling liberals names or whining about MSNBC at every turn."

Probably the biggest lie told all year. Republicans & Conservatives call Liberals names and whine about MSNBC ALL THE TIME.
Trapped In The Wall: "Did George Bush ever have a CIA fire team on the ground, Marine quick reaction team only a few hours away on an airbase that was ready to support the SEALs trapped in the embassy, and then tell all of them not to do anything? Obama did. "

A complete LIE on your part. Obama NEVER told Marines not to act. You're a liar, and I invite you to provide a source showing that Obama gave an order for Marines not to intervene. You are a liar, and you hate facts almost as much as you hate Obama.
Ollicopter: Protests in reaction to the video occurred during the same day of the attacks - it's reasonable to make that mistake. Besides, why would that be a scandal whether Obama blamed the video or not? How is that a crime? You're an absolute clown.
SCE2AUX2: "No, YOU are the one who is wrong, you mendacious turd. Obama was referring to "acts of terror" IN GENERAL. NOT Benghazi."

He used the term "acts of terror" in a speech directly about Benghazi. Clearly that shows he implied that Benghazi was an act of terror. You hate facts.

But here's the thing - whether he blamed the video or not, how is that a crime or an impeachable offense? There is no proof it was deliberate. Many people thought the video was to blame because of the confusion over the fact that the attacks & protests of the video occurred on the very same day.

You are one low-information clown.
Trapped in The Wall: I read the entire article. I saw nowhere in the article it backing your claim that Obama told Marines not to protect the consulate. You just made that up. Again, I will repeat it - YOU ARE A LIAR.

Show me anywhere in that article that verifies your claims.
sister_: "Obama actually did blame a film for 2 weeks. He got his GF Rice to do the same plus his Press Secretary and others in the administration. You're the only person who seems to think it didn't happen."

No, you're just in the Republican bubble. The same bubble that told you Romney would win in a landslide. Many people don't side with your lies. Whether Obama blamed a film or not is irrelevant, because the allegation from the right that it was a crime/cover-up worthy of impeachment. Reporting faulty intelligence is not a crime. And mark my words, Republicans will come up short to find anything.
Paul: I don't see what your implications are - your videos say that the State Department knew of attacks while they were happening. A CIA security team was sent, but they were too late. Nothing you stated was a crime.
Trapped in The Wall: You wouldn't do anything, you coward. You're angry because I proved you to be a LIAR.

Answer
I have never seen so many straw man attacks in my entire life!!! Trapped in a wall, the Teams got there in 25 min from the attack. - According to the timeline, the first call for help from the consulate was received at the CIAâs nearby Benghazi headquarters â referred to as a diplomatic annex by U.S. officials â at around 9:40 p.m., which is when the attack began.

âFewer than 25 minutes later, a security team left the annex for the mission,â said the timeline, which added that the group spent about 25 minutes trying to take out militants firing heavy weapons as it fought its way to the walled compound and then entered it under heavy fire.

At 11:11 p.m., according to the timeline, an unmanned surveillance drone arrived over the complex while the CIA security team, which comprised about six officers, rounded up the approximately 30 staff members on the consulate premises and prepared to move them to the annex. The security team at that point had recovered Smithâs body but had been unable to locate Stevens, who local Libyan guards had spirited out a backdoor to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead from smoke inhalation.

The CIA security team and the mission staff drove out of the consulate under fire and returned to the annex, which had come under sporadic small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire

That's your article that is supposed to prove Obama did nothing

What is so stupid about these allegations is that Obama would have absolutely nothing to gain if he did hold back a rescue. Unless there is soon going to be a wild conspiracy theory cooked up.

What do you know about Carol Shepp and McCain's first marriage?

pdooma

She's John McCain's first wife. I know she was a model. I know they got married in 1965. She had 2 children before they got married and then they had 1 child together. I know they were only married a year before John got shipped out on a combat assignment and they'd been married less than 2 years when he became a POW. She was in a car accident in 69 while John was still away. Then John came home in 73 and was in recovery for two years. Apparently this is when the marriage started falling apart. He was stationed away. Had some affairs. The couple separated. Met Cindy in 79. The divorce was final in 80.

What have I missed? Does anyone have a picture of Carol? I'm curious.

Answer
You've shared more than I knew. But I knew the settlement was amicable and that Carol supported his political aims. That's really all I cared about.

And I could not care less what she looks like.

What caused the major economic recession in America?

Ryan R

Can you list the 3 biggest factors of the recession?

And a side question...when one looks at a stock chart...the graph is not a straight line, rather a "spiked line". Why is that?

Answer
I copied this from http://www.millionaireacts.com/432/what-caused-the-recession.html.

What i got out of it was, that peoples eyes were bigger that their pocketbooks, they bought a bunch of stuff they couldn't afford. Then they got into major debt that they couldn't pay off. so they stopped spending money. As for the side question i think its because the stock doesnt receive a constant stream of info. it just updated every couple of hours. Its like connect the dots. Hope this helps.

We are now living in one of the worst global financial crisis. This is proven by the fact that a lot of economies are going into recession and trillions of stock values were wiped out. Aside from these, a lot of companies have reduced their earnings with a lot of plant closures and job lay offs.
We often hear the word recession. Weâve watched news that Singapore, Germany, Japan, and New Zealand officially declared recession in their economies. But what is recession? And what caused it?
Recession, in economics, is defined as the contraction of an economyâs Gross Domestic Product for at least two consecutive quarters. That means the economy shrank.
We all know that the worldâs largest economy is that of the United States. A lot of countries depend on them most especially countries which depend on export products. Thereâs this popular saying that âwhen United States sneezes, everybody catches a coldâ. This is so true nowadays which is evident in the domino effect of the global financial crisis with a lot of economies caught colds.
What caused the recession? The problem started in the United States with the so-called Subprime Mortgage Crisis. The crisis was triggered by the rise in mortgage delinquencies leading to foreclosure of houses and ultimately a credit crunch leading to a freeze in liquidity.
Subprime Mortgage are mortgages given to high default risk credit borrowers. A lot of mortgages issued in US are called subprime which means that little or no downpayment was made by the borrowers to buy houses, cars, etc. Some credit were even given to low income families or with bad credit history. Because of the nature of these mortgages, a lot of borrowers defaulted on their loans which led to banks foreclosing securities of these loans including houses, cars, etc.
All these accumulated and led to the âcredit squeezeâ. There were no more cash available to other borrowers as all these cash were frozen to foreclosed houses with no willing buyers. The tightening of credit led to a slow down of the economy as there were no more loans available to other borrowers which they can probably use as capital in their businesses. Now, this led to a series of events:

Low Demand. Because of the tightening of credit, there was a slow demand of products of these businesses.

Decrease of Profits. Because of low demand, then there was a decrease in profits for these businesses.
Plant Closures. Because of decrease of profits, then companies need to shut down some of their plants to reduce costs. There was also a notable increase in bankruptcy filings.
Job Lay Offs. Because of plant closures and bankruptcy filings, then companies laid off a lot of their employees and unemployment rate rose.
Stock Market Decline. All these series of events led to the rampant fear of stock investors dumping their stocks which led to tremendous wipe outs of stock values.
The United States and other countries are all doing their best to combat this financial crisis by using different strategies including the recent US$700 Billion bail out plan to increase liquidity in the economy. US Treasury is providing millions and billions of loans to ailing companies to sustain this financial crisis and prevent further recessionof other economies.
The current recession have caused some companies to succumb and declare bankruptcy. Two of these companies include Six Flags, the worldâs largest theme park and CIT Group, the American commercial and finance company.

why is the Singapore dollar so strong?

bazbsg

When I look at what it costs to buy things in Singapore (SG) in SG dollars and compare that to what it costs to buy similar things in the USA with US dollars, I wonder why the exchange rate of the SG dollar is so strong. Housing, cars, groceries, restaurants, hotels, electronics all cost more in SG. I would have thought the exchange rate was basically a matter of the cost of goods in the different currencies. What other factors affect the exchange rate between currencies in general and what factors are making the SG dollar so strong in general?

Answer
Housing and cars are two things in Singapore you cannot compare to other countries. Because of its extremely small size, Singapore is very short of land, but the population is growing, so the property prices keep rising, which means that as time goes by, only the rich can afford private housing. About 75% of the population live in government subsidised housing. Also due to the lack of land space coupled with a dense population, the roads are clogged with traffic jams, so the govt slaps a very heavy charge to own a car, trying to drive down the car population. It costs a lot less to buy the same house or car in the US.

However other things are relatively cheap, like electronic goods and food (apart from expensive restaurants).

As to the exchange rate, perhaps this article would help:

car glass info image

Megan

This set of coins has dates on them from the beginning of the 1900's and ending in the 1940's. There are about 12 or 16 of them, I do not know what type of metal they are, but they are under glass, and I do not want to expose them to air if they shouldn't be. I want to know what they are worth, because I would like to sell them, as I am in some financial hard times. Please help me to make a good pricing decision.

Answer
Without a photo, no-one is going to be able to help you. They maybe coins, they maybe just tokens.
They could be worth a lot, or very little. Is there any printing on them such as the name of a country or other numbers ? Any more info would help. I collected coins for many years.

Where do people who make polymer clay charms buy the small silverware and sudae glasses at?

Pixie

I always see these polymer clay desert necklaces and stuff that are sundaes and in sundae glass and have small silverware to go with it, but neither the glass or the silverware is made out of the clay. Where do the people who make those find things like that, like the accessories they add onto the clay jewelry and don't make themselves?

I looked for miniature charms and this is what came up. I hope it helps you.

How to find new car prices from 5 years ago. and new car prices from 2010?

car price info image

She~She

i want to find listed new car prices from 2005, and then i want to find the price of the same new cars for 2010 and their prices, id like to do this so i can compare the prices. if anyone can tell me a web site for this id be very greatful. thank you for your time.

Answer
There is something called: "Blue Book" that gives price info. on all makes, models and year of cars in USA.

What should I look for in a car when I search for one on the streets?

icecream_l

I found this white Ford Mustang for sale, while i was looking for parking at my school. Its priced at $2,800 and its the older version of the new Mustangs. When I call for info what should I ask? Im a girl so I dont know much about cars! & the price sounds good!

Answer
1. do they have any maintenance reciepts that they could show you to prove the car has been taken care of?
2. how old are the tires?
3. has the car ever been wrecked?
4. Is the check engine light on?
5. Does is have a clear title?
6. Does it have recent emmisions testing papers(if your area requires emmisions testing)
7. When was the oil last changed?
8. Where does the car get taken when it needs oil changes/small repairs? Is there a mechanic who is familiar with the car?
9. Do the windows roll up and down?
10. Does the cruise control work (if equipped)
11. Does the heat/air work?
12. Has the car ever overheated? What was done to fix the car?
13. How many miles are on the car?
14. Does electrical components work well in the car? (door locks, lights on dash)
15. Do the headlights/tailights/blinkers work?
16. How old are the brakes?
17. Do the brakes squeel?
18. Does the car accelerate normally? If not the transmission might be going out!
19. Whens the last time the transmission fluid was changed?
20. When were all of the filters (transmission&oil) changed?
21. Is it an automatic or manual?
22. Has the car ever had a tune up?
23. Does the windshield wipers work?
24. Does the car leak oil?
25. Does the car idle smoothly? at what rpms does it idle?

these are just a few questions i would ask!
and if you buy it, you may want to get a tune up for it...get all the filters changed, all the fluids replaced.
AND ALWAYS RESEARCH THEIR ANSWERS!
like if they say the heat doesnt work, research why the heat doesnt work on the specific car you are looking at! This could help you see if their are going to be future problems with the vehicle and how much it might take to fix!

Details of Car crash death in sydney?

car news websites australia on nuns killed in car crash in north - Israel News, Ynetnews
car news websites australia image
Q. Hi,

My very close friend had a fatal car accident in sydney,Australia a month ago...is there any site which has such info?.I'm tired of searching regional nespaper sites & news channel ...they have no Info about it....

Answer
I'm very sorry about your loss. It's made even tougher when you just can't learn anything about the circumstances.

Can you find websites/phone numbers for local police stations? Do you know the name of anyone your friend was visiting with--can you get information through them? What about local (in Sydney) American (or whatever nationality you are) consulates/embassies--even if they have no information, perhaps they can direct you to someone who may.

Or...what about your friend's family? If they don't want to talk about it just now, simply thank them and let it be.

Good luck. And again, my sympathies.

importing a car with a "wrong side"(on the right) steering wheel in america?

Speed Rice

Ive always thought it was cool when i saw that one car every 3 years that someone brought overseas from britain (or japan). So sometime in my life, hopefully the near future, i want to get a car shipped over to america.

But, first off, i know there are laws concerning safety that i need to sort out first. I live in missouri. where can i find these laws? i heard that its not legal to have certain cars even shipped over here, i dont know if that's true or not...

secondly, I am assuming that a car from britain has similar safety features as a car from america, especially if they are of the same brand. what safety standards do i need to adhere to? i have heard about airbags and thicker windows, so far, but i dont know what else is necessary.

Thirdly, what would this limit me from doing? For example, i wouldnt be able to go through a drive thru anymore (some people might consider that a good thing though...) what else would i miss out on?

Lastly, what car should i import over? I want something that typically isn't seen in America. I thought about an older Nissan Skyline, but im not into the "tuner" scene, and they are expensive as it is.

Answer
I have some promising news :) ... and I have some disheartening news :(

First, the stuff that'll benefit you the most.

http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/elig010807.pdf

This website lists every car currently allowed to be imported to the USA from other car markets. What you NEED to know about this list is that simply being on the list does NOT mean you can legally drive it in the USA. This list includes every foreign-market car that has been shown to be modifiable to meet US standards. The modification process is long, slow, and rediculously expensive :( To the tune of tens of thousands fo dollars. And that's AFTER you buy the car and ship it. I was assigned in to an airbase in Japan for 4 years..I found a Porsche 968 I wanted to buy and bring back with me. They sold the 968 in the US as well but that wasn't good enough to make it importable. You'll notice it's not on the list. Simply being a similar car, even if they're built exactly the same, isn't good enough. you need to prove to Uncle Sam that it's acceptable...

The good news is that cars over 25 years old don't fall under these guidelines and are MUCH easier to import.

If you want something that will REALLY turn some heads and you don't mind muscle cars, ship a Chrysler Valiant from Australia. Chrysler's parent company, GM, made certain hot muscle cars in Australia that weren't sold here but are now old enough to be legally importable. They never fail to turn heads and in most cases, there may only be one or two of them in the entire country, yet they're still GM cars so working on them isn't that big a deal! Also, the old european luxury cars are always an amusing alternative!

You won't be missing out on ANYTHING by switching to right-hand-drive. It's easy to mix the turn-signal lever and windshield wiper lever up as they're backwards on right-hand-drive cars, but aside from shifting gears with your other hand, everything else is the same :) If you want a right-hand-drive car to practice in, buy an old mail car here in the USA. Those are all right-hand-drive because the driver needs to be able to reach mailboxes.

forza 4 car info image

Muss

I have an R8 with 9.3 or 9.6 Acceleration and Launch, just under 7 Handling and Braking and 8ish Speed. It doesn't handle very well but is very quick. I'm lvl 28 so my next gifted cars will be the Bugatti and the Viper. Either of those better than the R8?

Thanks All!

Answer
Hi Ok the R8 is a very nice car and is good for most of the purposes the closest cars to these will be the bugatti because it is AWD as well it is tricky in handling but very smooth and quick in acceleratiıon another car you will receive as a gift later is gt3 porsche again AWD this car is more of a superb handling car and very good acceleration in low speeds around up to 90 miles if you are looking for a very good handling car that is not gifted i would suggest you the RS4 or any s class audi or c32 amg which also has incredible acceleration or the m3 or m6 if you have the dlc both have good top speed and for the viper the car is a dissapointment in this game they kind of underestimated it about it's speed hope my info helps as a forza 3 fan and have a great time playing and don't forget the 4th one will be out soon

It can help stop pollution and preserve our environment! Plus, you would save money by not paying for gas..So why did GM basically "cancel" this innovative car? Why did people not support it?

I Don't necessarily believe there's any global cover up, don't get me wrong Iâm one for conspiracy theories, in fact I live 100% off the grid away from society / gov to prove it. But the technology is out there and has been for a longtime. I just think society isn't ready for it yet, almost but not yet. I don't think the government killed the EV1 or the super carburetor , either (though Iâve been wrong before) I think consumers did. Consumer's want their v8's with 33inch tires and speeds of 110+ min, just can't get that with âfactoryâ evs right now.

I currently have an EV and 2 vehicles that run on hydrogen also all that I converted. As I live completely off the grid all my electricity comes from solar panels and 2 wind generators.

The gov and car companies ARE trying to do something about it though.

Biofuel is recognized by both the US Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy as an alternative fuel, and qualifies for mandated programs under the Clean Air Act Amendments and the Environmental Protection Act of 1992 (EPAct).

USDA Clears Air with Biofuel: Buses and other diesel-burning vehicles run cleaner if they mix biofuel with regular diesel fuel, said the US Department of Agriculture at a biofuel fuel seminar at a USDA research center.

Conversely most major automotive manufacturers (Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors, etc) recommend the use of bio fuels, and nearly every car manufacturer in the world approves ethanol blends in their warranty coverage.

In fact your probably even driving an ethanol car and didn't even know it.

The trick is finding fuel.

I've been producing biofuel for about 3 years now, it's not extremely difficult. Basically you need general household ingredients, a processor (or still for ethanol) and some used oil. Blend it, let separate, screen and use. I complied a guide a while back to help walk you threw the process step by step, just email me or check out..

http://www.agua-luna.com/guides.html

also Honda has just released their first Hydrogen car (FCX Clarity).

http://automobiles.honda.com/fcx-clarity...

"The FCX Clarity is a next-generation, zero-emissions, hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle based on the entirely-new Honda V Flow fuel cell platform, and powered by the highly compact, efficient and powerful Honda V Flow fuel cell stack."

http://world.honda.com/news/2007/4071114...

It definitely has potential for "future car technology". In fact Honda just gave the first Individual Customer from Las Angeles a 2 year lease on the FCX.

http://world.honda.com/news/2005/4050629...

and of course you can stop waiting for them to anything and just do it yourself. I built my first hydrogen cell about 5 years ago, the ev about 3 years ago and now currently run the 2 trucks, my home hot water heater, home stove and home generator on hydrogen and offer a step by step DIY guide to walk anyone interested threw the process. You can find it at http://www.agua-luna.com/hydrogen.html or you can email me.

Hope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions if youâd like assistance in making your first self sufficient steps, Iâm willing to walk you step by step threw the process. Iâve written several how-to DIY guides available at http://www.agua-luna.com on the subject. I also offer online and on-site workshops, seminars and internships to help others help the environment.

What are some down sides to the India's Tata Nano Car?

kayla

I think it is interesting, but I want to understand what benefits are received by Canada to help produce this car to distribute to India, if so than how? I think it is great, but I would just like to know some negatives.

Answer
When a caravan starts with a mission of "new and innovation", each and every body wants to get a seat there.

Perhaps there might be so many reasons behind. May not say at the moment.

Kolkata High Court, INDIA in its judgement dt. 18-01-08 up-helds the land acquisition by the WBengal I.D.C in Singur, WB, India. The acquired land has been 'leased' to Tata Group for their "Nano" small car project and also for another complex for manufacture of Auto Parts. From the very begining this small car projectin the state of West Bengal, India is facing 'resisitance' from the vested interests( big Car makers behind ..?). The launch of this car might have to lead the Engineers to redraw their car design and start a global "Price-war"
