what info dose your license plate give cops?

Duck

I got puled over a few times for my inspection being out and I cant get my car fixed enough to pass. so i gotta drive it as is. but the last time i got pulled the cop only saw my car for a few moments and then disappeared in my rear view.(i was turning right as he was traveling left) ad then about a mile down the street i see the cop in my rearview with his lights on to pull me over. so what exactly dose a cop get from a short incounter with my car? like what kind of info?
would my driving record indicate weather or not my inspection is out?

Answer
Depends on the jurisdiction.
Mine the name, address, drivers license information f any registered owners, status of plates (such as inspection status) wants and warrants on registered owners.
That stuff comes real fast if things are working right.
From the name & b date info on dl can get basic criminal background.
If needed given a few more minutes if the names match any names, victims or offenders, in any police reports made locally but by that time you are normally stopped.
Once stopped lots more can be found out but you just asked about plates.

Where can I rent a childs car seat in cleveland?

Jude's mum

Is there any place where I can rent a babys car seat in cleveland? I am going too be visiting there, and unfortunally I can't take his car seat because I can't afford too buy him his own seat on the plane. He has too be on my lap. Or where I can buy one for cheap? Thanx a bunch
Thanks too everyone for their input. I got a seat for my son.

Answer
Well, I'm going to be the bearer of major bad news here, but please understand it is in the interest of keeping your baby safe. :) So don't hate the messenger. lol

1st off - he really should use a car seat on the plane. Think about it - when he's 2 years old you won't have the option of even saying I'm not going to buy him one. Its ludicrous that a baby is allowed to be less safe than a toddler or adult. Some people use the argument that plane crashes are fatal what good would a car seat do? Well - plane crashes are extraordinarily rare - its not the crash you want him in his seat for. Its the severe turbulence, rocky landings and such. You will NOT be able to keep him in your arms in the event of bad turbulence or any other problems. Its for this reason that flight attendants refer to lap babies as 'missiles'. That's right - you're precious child is a missile. They give the count as 120 pax and 2 missiles. B/c in any problems, lap babies go flying like missiles and will get injured and injure other people as well. Airlines only even offer the lap baby option b/c they figure it helps ticket sales to families with young children.

You aren't required to, but its a really good idea to take one. Kids do better when they have their seat on the plane, same as in the car. They are less likely to want to run around and such since they are used to being put in a car seat whenever traveling. And believe it are not, they are safer. Should turbulence happen, they are less likely to be injured or scared.

Another thing to consider: will you be doing any traveling by car once you get to your destination? Then you will need the car seat anyway, or you will have to purchase one when you get there. Do not rely on a car seat from a rental company! Its dangerous. Car seats expire 6 years after the date of manufacture, and are not safe if not taken care of properly. It must never have been in a wreck, never dropped, include all the original pieces and manual, and be installed correctly, something the rental staff will not help you with. On that note, remember too, that it is better NOT to check car seats as luggage. Think of how your luggage gets banged around - well, if your car seat gets banged around, it is no longer safe to use. A car seat is only made to withstand being dropped/in an accident once! And if it gets dropped and you don't know about it, you unwittingly put your child in danger. Better all around to take the seat on the plane.

And the airline is very unlikely to replace the seat if they do damage it. Just check to make sure that your car seat is FAA approved for aircraft use, should say so somewhere on a label on the seat.

And on to the next piece of bad news - rental seats are a major no-no. They are frequently expired, missing pieces and/or instructions, or not even the correct car seat for your child's age/size. A car seat tech with a 9 week old baby was handed a front facing only car seat to put her baby in. And it was old and nasty.

Saving money is NOT worth your child's life. If you can't afford to keep your child safe, you can't afford to go.

"Professor at Claremont McKenna College Found Guilty of Staging Antisemitic Hate Crime

On March 9th of this year, psychology Professor Kerri Dunn created a huge uproar in the usually quiet campus of Claremont McKenna College, located a few miles east of Los Angeles, when she reported that her car parked on a campus parking lot had been vandalized. What websites should I go on to get reliable information on the JFK conspiracy?

Cat_Lover

I need some sources for a research project, and I have been looking online for websites. I was just wondering if there was any one website that would be best to find information on this subject.

Thanks to anyone with helpful answers ahead of time.

Answer
There are none at all. There simply was no conspiracy. Therefore no "reliable" conspiracy websites.

All websites and books on the subject always begin either with some litany of facts which swiftly devolves into the author's personal diatribe on the subject with the transition from fact to fiction being done sometimes as well as a Paul Harvey transition from news to commercial but usually to some lesser degree of skill OR they just start out ranting and toss a few facts in here and there.

I prefer the latter as they are easier to spot and guard one's brain against. The former are much more insidious, akin to reading a Neo-Nazi's diatribe against the brown races of the world so as to understand your enemy but picking up a few things in your head as you read that a couple years later you don't remember the source of: they just float around in the general mass of knowledge you have and you regard them as facts BECAUSE you don't remember their utterly spurious source. "Good" JFK conspiracy work is exactly that. You pick up some things as facts that are nothing of the sort and lose track of how you "learned" them and gradually you come to believe because more things you read tally exactly with the "facts" in your general store of knowledge: it all becomes so clear...

Every single one of the main characters pushing this garbage: a) is in it for the money: it's just simpler than working for a living as they cannot take orders from a boss and Dairy Queen (their competence level in actual work) doesn't pay as well as books and speaker's fees, and b) has had enough contact of their own with spy agencies and other government figures to qualify as much as the nutjob Oswald for anyone else's conspiracy theories: If one of these authors ever assassinated a government official, those contacts would easily let a whole new generation of theorists to pose that guy's conspiracy genre.

Personally, I'd like my chance to point out my guess about things IF, and only if, something more actually did occur. I am certain the evidence actually only supports Oswald doing the killing so I'm not presenting it as something to replace that.

IF, and only if, there were more gunmen I say Kennedy certainly had many enemies, his own personally and his father's, and the path and speeds taken that day were unique in their vulnerability and the publicity about them. The switchback the car approached as Oswald shot was the most vulnerable a US President has been since that day probably. The car was coming directly toward Oswald, an amateur marksman (military training to shoot is pretty basic and so the skill needed to win shooting medals from the military is about the level of the skill needed for winning a Purple Heart), and had to slow to almost a crawl to turn. As an amateur, you'd expect Oswald to pick the book depository. I would have. I have the skill to easily shoot better than he did and I have less training than he though probably more practice as I've lived longer than he managed. That's part of why it's so clear the Oswald really did it. Part. However, the point is, people claimed to have seen two other gunfire sources. No one claims both mind you, all witnesses claiming other sources claim only one or the other but leave that aside. The two other sources, if real, were where you'd expect professionals to be, behind the car. Same essentially straight shots, but without everyone looking at you, seeing your location instantly, and pursuing you immediately. Organized crime is charged with one, the CIA with the other.

So. Why couldn't there have been THREE different, unconnected, attempts on JFK that day? Even an amateur who never assassinated anyone else in his life like Oswald saw the value of that corner. Maybe there were three different gunmen and maybe each of the pros were aware of Oswald and so picked a compatible weapon. Though not likely aware of each other until events played out, they could have been waiting for Oswald the nutjob to fire and then both opened up to make sure a bullet really ended up where Oswald intended. Perhaps that's why Oswald stuttered his fire rather than Bang-aim-breathe-Bang-aim-breathe-Bang his way through it. Maybe he just really expected his first shot to be perfect and only fired two more times when he found the real world didn't work like Westerns.

No one else suggests that! My theory is just as valid as theirs and can explain every false issue they bring up. Every. Single. One. Yet you aren't going to regard mine as valid. Examine that and you'll find the only difference is that I stated going in that I don't believe it. I don't push it. I don't mix in falsehood, innuendo, poor reasoning, and lots of confidence in my theory and certainty that there are many somewhat unspecified powers out to get me for it. So mine, which explains every single falsehood they propound and presents an even juicier "plot" environment is still poo-poo'ed and theirs are still honored.

Hi Gays and Lesbain friends, dou you know that gay sex is punishable by death...?

Q. In 7 countries, and another 70 it's still illegal and you might go to JAIL? Or be castrated or have to perform community service (thats picking up rubbish to the uneducated)

Answer
Yes,
and in some a women can be put to death if her husband says she had an affair.
Some places they kill women who are victims of rape.
In other lands the family decide who the children will marry, the children have no say in it.
I saw a video of a 6 year old boy who was caught stealing, his arm was held as a car drove over it.
There are also many examples of western people in third world countries trying to ease the suffering, but the local government feeling pressure say these people are spy's so have them killed.

I was mildly amused by a news report where all these Christian missionaries were shot dead.
The driver begged to be spared, he only escaped a bullet to the head because he told them he is a Muslim and then he was able to say several passages from the Koran.
It was this that amused me. If he was a true believer he would not have begged for his life as he would have had no fear of death. What he in fact did by begging and grasping at possible ways to save his life was he prove he is an infidel.

I say. The silly Muslims killed the wrong people. Despite the Christian missionaries not being Muslim, at least they believe in God.

So yes your right. The world is full of nutters.

How might I import a Nano car from India?

Baby_Astro

This website has info on the car, $2,500 and 50 miles per gallon: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=17984516

Answer
Different countries have different laws.

In Canada you can import, insure, and drive any car from any country (regardless of it passing the Canadian stipulations for it's class and year) that is I believe ten or fifteen years old.

However that varies with each Country.

I would contact your automobile insurance office, your local government transport office, and your local customs office (to see the costs involved).

As this car does not appear to be available in the country in which you live I would imagine you would have a great deal of difficulty importing and insuring it for use on your public streets.
If you are able to import it, you might be restricted to private property use. However, as it's less costly then many golf carts it might still be worth it.

Just for fun, visit the Tata Nano mini site, you can virtually customize a Nano. This will allow you to see all of the interior and exterior colors and options to see what is available and what you would like the best on your possible new car.

Best of luck, I love seeing imported cars in countries where they were never available.

P.S. Talk to a lawyer as a last case scenario, there's always the "Grey market" option that might be available. Your lawyer should know what I'm talking about.

How do I get info on a car with no title?

Preacher w

Someone who lives at my house has a friend who wants to sell me a car, a 81 nissan maxima, but there is no paperwork. I can get the id number and it has plates, but I am suspicious is there a way I can research this car and see if it is ok to buy it? thankyou

Answer
If you don't get the title, you didn't buy the car. You paid someone else to let you hold on to someone else's car.

no excuses. No title, no sale.

The seller can get a replacement tile from the DMV, assuming the seller really owns the car.

Here are a few possibilities:
The seller doesn't own the car.
The seller owns the car but took out a loan, and the lender has a lien against the title.
The seller is too lazy to go to the DMV to get a replacement title.
There is a defect in the title that the seller is trying to hide.

While the third possibility is the least toxic of these choices, it's still not great to buy a car from someone who can't be bothered to take care of it.

Unless you're paying less than $200 for the car, and so you don't care if it turns out to be junk, don't buy a car without paying a mechanic to check it out.

Even if it is possibility #3, you will still have problems because you can't register the car in your name without the title. The plates on the car now are part of someone else's registration, and when they expire, you will not be able to renew them. You will not be able to get your own plates unless you register the car in your name, and you can only do that with the title.

No title, no sale. No excuses. Even if this is a completely honest transaction, without the title, the DMV will not register the car in your name.

Car title?

JESSiCA MA

We are trying to sell our car, to get something bigger.

We bought the car from my sister, The title is still in her husbands name.

We signed it, Just didn't get it titled in our name.

What will the person buying the car, Have to do, In order to get the title in their name?

Need answers fast - the lady is on her way to look at the car now. :(
Currently, My brother in law is not capable of going to the DMV with this lady.

So unless that's our ONLY option, It isn't one right now.
We signed in the 'Buyer' area on the front.

Answer
You just fill out the info on the back of the title - there are instructions for transfer, and no, she can go to the DMV to have it switched on her own.

Answer
wiki says:

The De Lorean DMC-12 is a sports car that was manufactured by the De Lorean Motor Company for the American market in 1981 and 1982 in Northern Ireland. It is most commonly known simply as the De Lorean, as it was the only model ever produced by the company. The DMC-12 featured gull-wing doors with a fiberglass "underbody", to which non-structural brushed stainless steel panels were affixed. A De Lorean was featured as a home-made time machine in the Back to the Future trilogy.

The first prototype appeared in March 1976, and production officially began in 1981 (with the first DMC-12 rolling off the production line on January 21) at the DMC factory in Dunmurry, Northern Ireland. During its production, several aspects of the car were changed, such as the hood (bonnet) style, wheels and interior. About nine thousand DMC-12s were made before production stopped in late 1982. Today, about 6,500 De Lorean Motor Cars are believed to still exist.[1]

A total of about 9,200 DMC-12s were produced between January 1981 and December 1982.[3] Almost a fifth of these were produced in October 1981. About 1,000 1982 models were produced between February and May 1982, and all of these cars had the VIN's changed after purchase by Consolidated International to make them appear as 1983 models. There are the 15XXX, 16XXX, and 17XXX VINs which were originally 10XXX, 11XXX and 12XXX VINs.

So if it was made in late 1982, it may well be considered a 1983 model

However, Prices for DMC-12s vary widely and are dependent upon supply and demand. As of early 2007, a De Lorean in good to excellent condition can be had for around $20,000 to $29,000. Mint-condition cars can fetch up to $50,000. There are an estimated 6,500 surviving DMC-12s today. Some of the larger parts carry a steep price tag, such as the fiberglass underbody. Most parts are reasonably priced and readily available.

So - the $13,000 price tag is what makes me raise an eyebrow. If the car is in good condition, it should fetch almost double that. So, I am the kind of guy who says "Why so cheap?"

Can all cars be good cars....?

Xzyle

if taken care of properly or is it with some cars no matter what they will give up on you

Answer
If all cars made around the world were designed and built by the same manufacturer and all cost the same amount of money, you could assume that the same things would happen to all of the cars within a similar period of time......depending on where and how they are driven.

Regularly maintaining a car with services, correct tire pressures, correct fuel octane rating and NOT modifying the engine, will result in the vehicle being more reliable.

Obviously, if you drive any car as though you're a Nascar driver, it won't last as long.

The bad news is: Some cheap cars are designed to last for a short period of time - no matter how well you take care of them........they're like disposable cigarette lighters. When they give up on you - throw them away.

Toyota 4runner question...car seats?

Mark H

Does anyone know if you can fit three car seats in the middle bench of a 2007 Toyota 4runner?

Answer
Almost ANY car can fit 3 child seats across. It matters more what child seat you have or are willing to buy. Sunshine Kids Radian65 is the narrowest car seat you can buy and touts getting 3 across even in tiny vechicles like Honda Civic and Chevy Cavalier. Here's thread with tons of different combinations in different vehicles, some including pics. http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=33226 You can even searcht the thread for your vehicle to see what other people may have tried. Its not a list of everything possible, just what other people (mostly car seat techs) have gotten. HEre's an equally informative thread with people posting whether they got the Radian65 to work in their cars: http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=18235 b/c the Radian65 can be difficult to install. Here's important thigs to remember (via a smart Tech on the forums1) for doing 3 across:
1. don't assume.

A big car seat may fit in a 3 across in a small car. Even in a space where a smaller seat did not fit.

A combination of seats that seems impossible may work if you change what goes where. Or what child uses which seat.

Driver and passenger outboard positions are not necessarily identical.

2. Don't be afraid to try something someone else found impossible.

3. Don't measure. The numbers NEVER add up to enough space, but that doesn't mean squat.

4. You may end up with a car seat brand you said you would never buy. (I may have to buy another d@mn Radian in the near future)

5. Don't attempt a 3 across when you are really hungry/tired/annoyed with the world. You'll end up throwing something expensive down on the driveway in disgust.

6. Do keep your sense of humor when the cop stops to ask you what you are doing in your bathrobe throwing stuff around in the driveway at 2 AM.

7.Remember that new seats are almost always cheaper than new cars. Practice saying this in the mirror before breaking the news to your SO.

8. Find a car seat buddy to play 3 across with. ( JULIE!!) Make sure to have lots of ice cream and root beer on-hand to see you through it.

Please tell me the full story of Kaitlyn Lassiter!?

ezgrl95

I am sure you all know what happened to Ms. Lassiter at Kentucky Kingdom. Her feet got chopped off. Even though she went to my school, I did not know her very well, altough I had talked to her before she was homeschooled. How much money does she get now? I know she got like 20 million when she sued KK and for medical bills. Please tell me every detail and website you know about her. Because my friends want to go there with me tomorrow........

Answer
Kaitlyn Lassiter, the 14 year old teenage girl, who had both feet severed on a Louisville amusement park ride on 21st June 2007, is speaking out publicly for the first time.

She and her family are pushing for better ride safety.

Lassiter had both of her feet severed when a cable broke loose on the Superman Tower of Power ride, at Kentucky Kingdom. Doctors were able to re-attach one foot, but could not save the other one.

âThis accident has affected my life dramatically,â said Lassiter. âI wonât be the person I was before because now Iâm scared of stuff. I fear for my life when I get in a car, I fear for my life when I get on an elevator. Itâs hard for me to live my days like I used to.â

âThe accident took my legs being taken from me, which people take for granted every day, to have something changed,â she said. âAnd thatâs sad.â

Lassiter and her family have filed a lawsuit against Kentucky Kingdom.
There has been a ton of media coverage concerning the 13-year-old girl who lost both of her feet when The Superman Tower of Power at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville, Kentucky malfunctioned on June 21st. Now nearly two weeks after the terrifying accident, more details about the victim are emerging, including her current condition.

We now know the victim was 13 year old Kaitlyn Lassiter. According to a June 27th news report by WLKY News Channel 32, Kaitlyn is a Louisville resident who recently moved to the area from Florida. According to the same report, Kaitlyn was taken to a local hospital after the accident, and was then transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. In a statement released to WLKY TV on July 3rd, Kaitlyn's parent's Randy and Monique Lassiter state that Kaitlyn remains in stable, and that doctors were able to reattach her right foot. In that statement Dr. Douglas Weikert , who is the assistant professor of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at Vanderbilt, explains that they were unable to reattach the left foot due to the severity of the injury, and that her recovery is progressing as expected.

Kaitlyn's parents claim that they have not been in contact with anyone from Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom since the accident. A June 27th report by WLKY TV quotes a statement from the family as, "Kaitlyn's parents would like to state for the record that despite claims in the media by representatives from Kentucky Kingdom Theme Park, at no time has any representative of the theme park been in touch with members of the family."

Are roller coaster safe to ride anymore?

Melissa

In June 2007, a teenager's legs were severed when cables snapped on the Superman Tower of Power ride at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville, Ky. Doctors were able to reattach Kaitlyn Lasitter's right foot, but she had to have some of her left leg amputated and subsequent surgeries.

State officials blame a faulty cable and slow response by an amusement park ride operator in the accident. Her family is suing Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, claiming the park failed to maintain the ride and equipment and ensure riders' safety. The amusement park has denied liability in court filings.

Answer
you are more likely to have a car accident than to have an accident in a roller coaster. plus, that was not really a coaster. it was the type of ride were you are shot straight up and then dropped.

there was just an accident in georgia but that was the failure on the ride but a person climbed over two 6foot fences, passed a bunch of signs stating that the area was off limits and dangerous and was hit by the coaster. rules are made to keep people safe and if you don't follow them.

What is the Best Car Audio Setup?

Nick

I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse and I really want to upgrade the sound as well as put a touchscreen navigation system in it. I am very indecisive with the navigation systems so I need a little help finding the best one for the best price, I have an iPhone 5 which I will use to listen to music so the navigation system must be iPhone friendly, but I also want the regular fm tuner. Like I said before, I want it to have built in navigation as well. Aside from that, I want really good sound as well, this is the part where I am absolutely clueless... I am by no means an expert on car audio so I want to know, what should I install in my car to make the audio sound crisp while having good bass at the same time.... So basically, what speakers are the best, front and back, as well as an amp. Help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Answer
That's a lot of questions packed into one but I'll do my best to answer them all. Keep in mind though that all brands sound slightly different (amps, speakers, subs, head units) from each other and it varies by person in what they like. Sound tests are the ideal way to tell which can be done at places like Best Buy without making a purchase.

First some basic info on your car that may help you decide should you not go with my recommendations:

- Your dash has the option of either 2" or 4" head units (DIN or double DIN styles). To fit the 4 you may have to remove a non-essential item like a storage area from above/below the original.

Your car has apparently only 4 speakers (i expected 6, 2 being in the front dash). Two 6x9's that sit in the rear deck above the trunk in the back seat, as well as two 6 3/4" that go in your doors. Since you don't have the dash speakers it's even more important to cover the high notes well and I would recommend 3-way speakers for every slot. 2-way would sound okay, but you may miss out on certain frequencies that the cones weren't designed for.

As for the FM tuner I can't think of a single head unit that doesn't support that or better, so you shouldn't worry about that feature.

It sounds like the main expense of your system will definitely be the head unit since you want a GPS in there. Most every gps made in the last few years are plenty good and accurate for daily commutes, the only features you'd have to explore for yourself are whether you want voice-assist, streets listed by voice, an overly big screen size (flip out screen which allows you to fit a screen bigger than the slot), and traffic alerts for avoidances, which you'll probably need a paid subscription for.

About the cheapest you're going to get a good name-brand unit like that is 500 dollars:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_110VM9726B/Jensen-VM9726BT.html?tp=20212
This unit is all around good and states that it's friendly with iphones and androids alike.

If you're unable to clear out the second dash location for the full 4" unit then you might consider something like this:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020NZ503/Clarion-NZ503.html?tp=20212
This one also supports Iphone controls and internet radio in addition to a full sized touch screen despite being only a 2" dash slot. Obviously you'll need a little bit of extra clearance above the head-unit to use this effectively. Of the two brands I would go with Clarion, but there are many other brands if you shop around. The site I linked to has many good models and none of them are likely to let you down. You'll only need to look out once you go to sites like Amazon or Ebay, as cheapies start to emerge, but you can use those two to compare features and reviews.

As for speakers and an amplifier I personally think that in nearly all systems you'll get far better increased sound quality by getting a subwoofer with a dedicated amp BEFORE getting custom speakers and a custom amplifier for those speakers. Since there are so many options for these set ups I'll simply say: Ignore max wattage, it doesn't mean squat. RMS is the only wattage that matters and is rarely the wattage that's advertised. Try to match your amplifier RMS to your Subwoofer RMS and keep in mind that different wiring to the voice coils on the subwoofers affect the overall power going into them. Basic rule of thumb: Series connections double the ohms while parallel connections half the ohms. An example: two subwoofers with 2 voice coils each can be connected in 1, 2, 4, or 8 ohm configurations. 1 ohm would be every voice coil connected to the same terminal, while 8 would be every voice coil running to another voice coil in series and only 2 wires would lead back to the terminal inputs on the box (compared to 8 wires on the 1 ohm setup). Amplifiers give different power ratings at different ohm amounts and the better amplifiers allow for operation at lower ohms (2 minimum is entry level, 1 is high quality, and 1/2 is very high quality) You'll notice that the lower the ohms the higher the wattage it's rated for, so make sure you're not on a low ohm setting on speakers that can't handle the higher wattage that the amp is throwing out. They should be matched or as close to matched as you can get. Amplifiers come in different classes, the important one for subwoofers is class D. It has somewhat low sound quality but very high efficiency (less draw on the battery for the same boom), the low sound quality makes no difference on subwoofers because it's passed through a low pass filter which strips the interference before it reaches the subwoofers, however don't use a class D on non-subwoofers. As for enclosures you're goin to have to do your own research on that as there's too much info on different types. Crutchfield has good tutorials on that which you may find enlightening as well as other topics.

If you're completely sure that you want new speakers and an amplifier before you add a subwoofer (no trunk space etc) then you're going to need a 4-way amplifier. This is where you really need to go to best buy or something to witness the sound of each brand and then make your purchase (probably not at best buy since their prices are kinda crappy). Speakers and amplifiers sound as good as their brand mixed with the price you put in. Just because a set of pioneer speakers that costs 500 dollars sounds amazing doesn't mean their budget 60 dollar pair will sound good.

There are dozens of both good and bad brands out there, but as a rule of thumb... if they sell them at walmart they're probably not good. Alpine and pioneer being the exception, but even those companies have their bad products (always on the lowest end).

Here's a full list of good and bad brands made by someone smarter than I:
http://www.caraudioforum.com/showthread.php?p=2789088
There are exceptions of course, but stick to the list and don't buy products under 60 dollars and you'll be fine.

Wiring is very important, but all I'm going to say about that is fuse low, the fuses are there to protect, if you blow one and move up you're just going to blow your gear instead next time. Check out this gauge guide, always buy cable rated for CAR audio, and always run the signal cables on the opposite side of the car as you run power cables.

Anything else you want to know I'd recommend using youtube, there's thousands of audio nuts on there and it's where I learned 50% of what I know about car audio, the rest was trial and error.

Is there an android app that would allow me to track (preferably in real-time) my phone?

Mike

I want to see if i could put the phone in my parents car to see how long I could have an open house for ( I would track the phone and therefore their car from the computer). Is this possible? The phone doesn't have service and 3g anymore because its my old phone but it was GPS and Wifi. Is it possible?

Answer
There are phone tracking gps tracking apps for android like phonesheriff and mobilespy.
Check monitoring-softwares.com for more info about those tracker tools.

Should I buy a 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport for about 19 Grand?

DramaX

I want to know whats good and bad about the car.
Thank You!
Its FWD.

Answer
Outlanders, sport or full sized, are arguably Mitsubishi's strongest offering besides the Lancer. I'd own one if I didn't already have 4 or so Mitsus. I'd go all the way for the SE AWC if you ever encounter winter weather. Its arguably the most advanced all wheel drive system on the market, behind its big brother S-AWC and Nissan's ATTESA system. You wont be disappointed. Mitsubishi isn't going anywhere....besides, rumor has it Suzuki is on there way back in a couple of years.

Per Nov 21, 2012

Mitsubishi Lancer named, and I quote, "Most reliable car of the last 15 years."

Shocker. #6 right behind acura and way ahead of any american competition.

Per Jul 25, 2012 in UK ratings
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2179067/Land-Rover-revealed-UKs-reliable-car-71-cent-years-old-break-year.html

Tied for 6th ahead of all american companies and 1% behind subaru. The Euro line-up only differs from the american in that they offer certain models in a diesel format AND most importantly, they sell the Evo FQ400, the most powerful Evolution variant able to be obtained. One could argue these options can easily add to maintenance and reliability concerns. Seems they did pretty well there huh?

Not sure where you got transmission issues from. I worked in a junkyard when I was younger. If I remember correctly, over the course of the year I was there, 3 Mitsubishis were dropped off. What we did keep getting plenty of in were chevys, fords, and gmcs all with bad trannys.

Don't hate what you don't know kiddies. It's fun to pass on misinformation, but sometimes it just gets old and makes you look ignorant.
I should know, I work on them every day.

im scared of roller-coasters and we are going on a trip tosix flagsgs this summer should i get on?

Byron S

answer should i get on really scared

Answer
Yeah rollers are fun and you can speed in a car and if you get in accident
you have ton of metal on most sides of you to protest you or close to a ton..
Now have that same accident on a motor cycle and the end result is one in a hundred gets away with it.
The other 99 pay the price for the rest of their lives.
Roller coasters are fun but like a plane crash it's been 40 years maybe 50 years for Someone Like captain "Sully" to recently land that airbus in the river and have 149 people all live Bravo Sully you are a example of striving for perfection and attaining it congratulations to Sully.
Also they go to google.com enter Great adventure now six flags N.J. Newsday , or channel 12 Cablevision news L.I. N.Y. person flies out of roller coaster attendant blamed for not securing saftey lock.
Sorry it's the same old thing every time a plane crashes the company and the F.A.A. and the corporation says pilot error.
Never lack of maintence to save money. Remember Eastern airlines got 9 million dollars in fines due to bad cheated lack of maintence on their planes it was reduced 90 percent from 9 million to 900,000 so all the saftey regulations set by the F.A.A. to keep the public safe.
people and justice prevailed and Eastern airlines went out of business they were a flying nuts and bolts wagon. Pilots that complained were harrassed but the knowledge by the public caused them to loose rider ship and go under. Thank you whew!
Except for a band-aide type skin Boo Boo of you hand or what ever any injury of any signifigence is life altering negitive event on a roller coaster. Forget a lawyer 95percent of them are bought out by the rich insurance companies that insure the amusement parks.

Recommendations for car mats?

Wizardo

I got really shitty ones from Autozone for like 10 bucks and they are absolute trash.

I just need the front really, no one ever sits in the back

Don't want to spend more than $30 really...I'd prefer under $20.

Answer
I bought some Kraco rubber mats at Sams Club and they were pretty nice for about $24. I also browsed around and found some nice carpeted mats - but they were more than $30... Anyway here's a site with lots of car mat info including info on universal fit mats - which are the least expensive kind to get.

what happen to the electric car?

kid_dj

I see the hybrid idea but what about having your own personal solar panal that you plugged the car into? (just a idea)

Answer
------------------
The electric car never went away. But the best battery technology for electric cars, called NIMH, was purchased by some big oil companies, who are refusing to license NIMH batteries for electric cars. This stopped the electric vehicle movement for several years.
*
Now, however, a new battery technology for electric cars has emerged, the lithium-ion battery. And many new electric cars are in development. We may even start to see some of these cars in the next year or two. A sampling:
*
From China: The Happy Messenger - only costs $10000, goes 150 miles per charge:
http://www.greencarcongress.com/2005/12/chinese_ev_comp.html

Also from China: the BYD car, designed to be affordable, with a 250-mile range:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=106930

The GEO EV, from Korea. It goes 155 miles on a three hour charge:
http://joongangdaily.joins.com/200505/18/200505182238171109900090609062.html

Also from Korea. The ENERGINE Electric-Pneumatic hybrid.
It runs on air and electricity. No gasoline:
http://www.energine.com/e_main.php

From Japan. The Subaru R1E. Charges to 90% in 5 minutes, costs under $18000:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8995780

Also from Japan. The Mitsubishi Colt EV. It can charge in 20 minutes, and is priced under $20k.
http://aftermarket.autoblog.com/2006/10/12/mitsubishi-looks-ahead-with-an-electric-i/

A chinese EV slated for import to the USA next year. It gets 200 miles/charge, and costs $28,500.
http://www.milesautomotive.com/products_xs200.html

The Tesla sports car:
http://www.teslamotors.com
*
And if you don't want to wait - and if you don't mind not having the very latest technology, there are many small entrepreneurs doing electric car conversions right now, that you can buy for as little as $5000. Details are on this page:
*
http://squidoo.com/cheap-electric-car/
*
Don't believe what people are saying about batteries. Even the old tech batteries (lead-acid) are very affordable. The battery pack in my EV costs under $1000, and lasts for 20,000 to 30,000 miles. That's only four cents per mile. Electricity to charge the batteries only costs one cent per mile. That's way, way cheaper than gasoline.
*
Best of luck!

Is Credit Karma and Quizzle useless?

Q. I have used Credit Karma for a while now and loved it. That is until I went to lower the interest rate on my vehicle. Same with Quizzle. I have been rebuilding my credit and my husband has been doing the same. Last year we bought a brand new car. It is a little to soon to refinance but we went down to see if we could lower the interest rate and get our payments lowered. I have been monitoring our credit and according to Credit Karma it had improved a lot and was pretty good. Go down there and we cant. They use equifax to determine credit and our equifax score was way lower than credit karma which uses transunion. Quizzle uses experian. Is there any use to use these two? Everywhere I have applied for credit used equifax. Why even bother with them?

Answer
CreditKarma and Quizzle do not give you actual FICO scores. They are both Fakko scores. CreditKarma is generally within 50 points of your FICO. These sites only give you a general idea of how your credit/score is doing.

Not all creditors report to all three credit bureaus. Since the credit bureaus were once regional, certain areas of the country tend to use one credit bureau more than the others. You may want to pull your actual credit reports (AnnualCreditReport.com) and see what shows on each. If the same info shows on your Equifax and TransUnion reports, the CreditKarma score should be within 50 points of your FICO for either one. But it is very possible that the reports are different and that could mean a huge diffference in scores.

Can Tow Truck Drivers Follow You Home and Tow Your Car?

elyk111

Hello all:
My friend was parked behind a business and there were no visible "No Parking" signs anywhere. However, a crusty-old security guard STILL called a tow truck to tow his car away.
As he was arguing with the security guard, I noticed the tow truck driver taking down my friend's license plate number.
He's worried right now and wondering if the tow truck driver can look up his address, go to his house, and tow the car from there.
I told him it might be illegal for them to tow his car from a different location; even IF he parked illegally in a different location and got away with it.
But he still parked the car in his dad's garage for tonight (he lives only a few houses down).

Now then, I want to know if I lied to him or gave him correct info. He's very scared and wants to know as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Have a great night and a beautiful morning.

Answer
It is illegal to tow a car when there is not a sign warning or it is blocking an important entrance or something. Once you arrive to remove your car, then it is also illegal to try to continue to tow. Definitely towing from your house in secret is absolutely illegal, and you could sue the pants off them. They would like to make the money from towing, but I don't think they would risk towing from a home. They would lose their license for that. When the tow truck shows up, I would give him $10 or $20 for not towing. Otherwise he made a trip for nothing, and it is bad karma.

This isn't an "if" about committing suicide, it's "when"?

Heather U

Sent a random letter out to a site that proclaimed they will listen to my problems and help me out. They did listen and they wrote back. It's nice, but it doesn't take these feelings away.

I want out. And the only reason I'm still here is because of Hell.

I always wish that it were me in the car accident on Highway 69, or the one on FOX news who got murdered, or even the one who died of cancer. Those people want to live, I don't. Let me have their way out.

I can't go on. I know I'm only 21 and I've heard many times that life will get better. But it hasn't since I was 13. It got worse.

I love my friends and family and they're the second reason I haven't done it yet. I don't want them to hate me for doing this selfish thing. They just wouldn't understand.

I've searched and searched trying to find the answers. The easiest way. The quickest way. The smart way. How to do it. Where to do it. Should I leave a note behind?

But something keeps me holding on when all I want to do is let go. Why?

Public - 5:31 PM - 1 view - add eprops - add comments - edit it - email it

Answer
Just hold on to what you love. You love your family. Hold on to them with all that you have. You would not be selfish for doing that, but i can tell that deep down there is something holding you back. Maybe you have a purpose that you haven't filled, something that hasn't been lived. There is always hope, even in the deep crevices of sorrow. I know i don't have much room to talk, and I am sorry if i sound like some lame teen who has no idea what she is talking about...I have suffered from a mild version of what you are going through for awhile now. And honestly the only thing that has halfway pulled me out of it is my faith. Faith in God. But it doesn't have to be a spiritual thing. Just faith in anything...future love and relationships, just even something little like a future smile. Maybe talk to someone you can trust about your sadness...? i don't know. If you wanna talk here is my email. asoccer6@gmail.com.

what should you do if you think you ran overs someone's pet cat?

MtnResiden

I live in the mountains and there are a lot of wild animals (bears, fox, mountain lions, elk, deer, raccoons, coyotes) and there is always a danger that something is chasing something else and animals dart into the road running scared. Tonight, I was driving up the winding mountain road and a beautiful cat (didn't look wild) - black with white tipped paws and tail - that I saw just before it darted across the road about 5 feet in front of my car. I was instantly sickened because I feel certain I went over that cat and likely killed it. I came right home to get my husband (it was late and I don't know anyone along that section of country road) as I was so distraught I didn't think I would present well knocking on complete strangers doors crying at night asking if the cat belonged to them. Who do I call? What should be done? I am willing to find a replacement pet from one of the shelters, but I just don't know what should be done. Up here, there are not many cats outside except barn cats that people keep for keeping down the mice population, otherwise they keep their pet cats in since there are so many wild animals. Any ideas.
My dear husband went down to check things out/clean up, etc. for me while I sought guidance here. He didn't want me to have to re-experience the trauma as we travel this road every day to go to work/home. Happy to say that the cat has 9 lives and there is no evidence of any animal debris either on the road nor on the car so he must've been superfast! It happened so fast and
I wasn't 100% certain I hit the cat, but I didn't have any chance to avoid a collision so I thought I must have :-(

Answer
You are so kind to respect the cat and his family that way.

If I were you, and in a position to replace the cat, as mentioned, I would first look for the owner. I would post an add saying "Is your cat missing?", with a description of the cat, but not the details. You can mention where you saw him, like the road you were on, to be specific for the owner. If they message you, you can break the news to them. If I were the owner looking for my cat, I would not be mad at you. I would understand that it was an accident, and that the fact that you went through so much trouble to tell me would be greatly appreciated. I lost a cat once, looked for 4 months, and never found him. If I could only know what happened to him, it would have made my grieving period much quicker.

I you are in a position to replace the cat, I would offer it delicately. I would say that if there's anything I can do to help, I'd be happy to. I know when you just hear about losing a furry family member, the idea of replacing them is painful, so best to avoid it I suppose.

I do hope you do whatever you feel you need to. It can be so devastating, and it's no one's fault.

Good luck

what were YOU doing during the 9/11 attacks?

dannnyy

I was in class at school it was soo scary. Our teacher turned on the news and i remember not knowing what was going on at all until my mom picked me up from school and told me..i didnt understand that it was a big deal then and now it means so much. My question is where were you and what were you doing during the 9/11 attacks?
Travis: thanks. ill have to check that out
im so terribly sorry to everyone who lost someone that day. it was a terrible day that almost all of us will never forget.

Answer
I was at the dealership getting my car serviced. The first plane had already crashed into the first tower.

I was watching the TV with another customer and I watched the 2nd plane crash in the 2nd tower LIVE on TV.

I turned to the guy and ask "Did that just happen?"

Plane Crash's, bee stings, and shark attacks...priorities?

LovePinkPu

It is unfortunate of Cory Lidle accident, but I just don't see how this makes "news". It also makes the case why we don't have flying cars. The average person is incompetent.

More people die every year from bee stings than shark attacks, yet it's a tough sell for the networks to get you amped-up about a bee sting, so they feed us fear...

Plane crash's...MUCH more people die every year on America's hwy's due to alcohol(roughly 120,000 since 9/11), but we can't get "excited" about people who look like us, drink too much, and kill us driving drunk.

Think we as Americans have our priorities mixed-up?

Answer
Shark attacks make news BECAUSE they are unusual.

And when a plane crashes into a high-rise building in New York City -- no matter who is in it -- it's news. Especially after 9/11 when planes crashed into two high rises.

It's more news if someone killed in the crash is a celebrity, like a professional baseball player.

BTW: It was the second time a New York Yankees player has been killed in a private airplane crash. The first was catcher Thurman Munson, in 1979.

Organizational Design news?

paige

I have to find some news or article about Organizational Design , but since the teacher hasn't taught ANYTHING about it yet, i don't know what to look for...can you guys help me please???? thanks

Answer
Yes , think about a local organisation ( car sales, bakers, doctor surgery). Then think about how you would build the business to get to where it is today.

EG Doctors

2 trained doctors
raise funds
buy a surgery that is working
check out the staff
decide how to change it for the better
cost the changes
get money for the changes
implement
manage the new service

etc.

Organisations are designed from scratch out the start
but they always evolve . If they stand still they die. Good Change management is essential

Run your car on water?

Ahmadi Ahm

Did anyone know or any info? About run your car on water? Please provide me more info about this. Very-very need. I'm so exited right now..
Cheers.. thank and regards!

Answer
You can run your car on water! And in doing, so you double your gasoline and engine power increase of 25% or more! Let me explain how you can run your car on water.

It will not be good to draw in a gas station more than half the time you do it because you decided to run your car on water? Together, be able to pass the gas station more often, smile because you realize how much money you save, you know that you included in the increase in the number of people who take responsibility the improvement of our environment. Believe me, it feels good, personal and financial!

It seems strange that you can run your car on water, after all, gas and water do not mix really. However, hydrogen and oxygen when they are in the form of gas, hydrogen, oxygen and gasoline do mix quite well.

To turn the oxygen and hydrogen into gas, I was use my electrical car system to turn water into oxygen and hydrogen. Through the action of the electrolysis of water, I use a car engine to inject hydrogen and oxygen gas in a fuel-air mixture is combined with the piston engine to compress the mixture and spark plugs to ignite it, I now have a car that runs on water! And this is how you can run your car on water!

Benefits that easy to make changes to your vehicle so your car can run on water are many and include:

- The proper functioning of the engine(Smoother Engine)
- Less pollution
- Increase the fuel consumption of up to twice
- Remove carbon deposits in the engine
- Less wear on the engine
- Save money
- Repayment of the IRS
- 15 to 25 per cent increase in power
- Low operating temperature engine

When I started reading about how to ârun your car on waterâ, I read many articles and outline, and I came across a number of observations that cars running on water is a hoax, because the process used more energy than. The investigation continues into the charges that yes, I realized, he brings energy to the system works, and this time it is an irrefutable fact of physics that can not do more than the machine used. Ultimately, of course, the use of energy. I can not work if it does not. This is not a fake, and it does not work.

Think of how many resources an apple tree uses, the production of waste. We can see how mathematics is a good tree, and although I personally have not done that I think of efficiency, less than one percent. Who really cares? We are aware that we do not intend to use the food, the sun rays or radiation absorbed by the tree, and it is simply the cycle. We are pleased to produce the apple.

In an effort to launch a car on water, it will be the same process. Your car voltage regulator generator that die when the battery is charged and the generator is still not spinning. The potential loss of energy used to produce hydrogen. It saves money and gas and, yes, it works! It reduces pollution, carbon deposits in the engine, lower operating temperature of the engine, the engine 15 to provide a 25% increase in power and increase fuel efficiency twice. It is therefore natural to take advantage of the system and reap the fruits of that.

Are you ready to learn how to build your own device to convert hydrogen to power vehicles and hybrid cars to run your car on water? And heyy, when you run your car on water, just go and enjoy an apple tooooooo!

good pranks to play on my brother?

~*Official

i need a good nonexpensive prank to play on my 15 year old brother at home ASAP!! hehe

Answer
sneak lemon juice onto their tooth brush

brush your hair or your pet with their toothbrush & leave the hair in it

a glob or smear of peanut butter on their toilet seat or bed sheet looks like poo

White liquid shoe polish washes off easy & looks like bird poo when splattered all over car hoods, roof, trunk, rear window & windshield or on on bikes, 4 wheelers, lawn chairs, anything left outside. Use a water gun or medicine dropper.

Squirt Silly String into the toes of their shoes, making sure none of the string shows where they slip their foot in. Or save hair out of hair brushes & pet brushes & tuck a fluffy wad into the toes of shoes. It feels alive! Just don't make the wad too solid, like cotton cuz that doesn't feel weird.

Smear KY lubricant or vaseline on their door knobs, cabinet or drawer handles that you know they'll open.

A big glob of KY looks like someone hacked up & spit out snot. Drop the glob on their bathroom sink, night stand or someplace you know they'll see it.

A wad of toilet paper with peanut butter, chocolate syrup or smashed chocolate bar in it, left laying on their floor, by their door, on their toilet seat or bed.

Stick mini pads all over their door, mirror, bookbag, window, etc.

Super glue coins on their night stand & watch them try to pick them up or super glue soda can tabs on the bottom of their shoes to make noise when they walk on a tile floor or sidewalk.

Fill their bed with packing peanuts then cover them up. When she pulls her covers back, packing peanuts will fly everywhere.

Carefully remove a dead moth or butterfly off the grill of a vehicle, trying not to crush it, then put a glob of KY on it's belly (or other wash off adhesive) then carefully stick the bug on the bridge of their nose while they're sleeping (during daylight) then wake them , gently, so their movement doesn't knock the bug off & tell them with concern that there's a bug on their nose. You can also use a live earthworm without adhesive or waking them cuz the earthworms movement wakes them. Or you can put a dead bug or earthworm in their food, drink, shoes, etc. The bigger, the better. Handsfull of earthworms work best in shoes, or even in the toilet and it doesn't matter if they get flushed, they'll most likely get out at the other end.

Take something from their room or bathroom that they use everyday & place it elsewhere in the house or car. When they look for it, they'll whine about finding it someplace they don't remember taking it. Then the next day, move the same item to still another location. Do that everyday with the same item till they get smart enough to hide that item from you.

Prank phone calls to pull on boys:
1. a client from Birthright (or Family Planning or whatever free clinic you have in your town) who has identified you as the father of her baby. How soon can you make an appointment to come in for a dna test?" Then play it by ear depending on what he says. In reality, the pregnant girls info is private so you don,t have to tell him a name if he ask.

2. Or, tell him you're calling from a health clinic on behalf of a client who has an std who has named him as one of her sexual partners so when can he come in to be tested? Be prepared to respond according to his unpredicted remarks & questions.

3. Or, tell him you're calling from the Child Support Enforcement Agency on behalf of a client who has named him as the father of her child & he is to appear in court at (a time) on (a date) so he can establish with the judge how much child support can be ordered. Be prepared to respond according to his unpredicted remarks & questions.
April Fools Day pranks:
4. Sneak outside & knock on the door or ring the door bell then run to another door & do the same thing then run back to the first door & when they open it, say "thanks, I thought no one would ever let me in, April fool!"

5. Knock on the door from the inside, yell "I'll get it" then open the door & yell for you sister or brother, saying someones at the door for them. Walk away but where you can watch them look around for 'nobody there' & when they say no ones there, egg it on like someone was, describing a person, then tell them April fool.

6. Write April Fool on a note, wrap it in a box, either gift wrap or shipping paper with used stamps glued on it, cut from old envelopes. Address the box to your family member or put a tag on the 'gift' with their name on it. Watch their face when they open it & find the note but pretend you don't know anything about it. You can leave the gift where they will find it or you can knock on the door, yell I've got it, then tell them the shipping box was dropped off to them. You can also put the April Fool note in an envelope with old stamps glued to it + family members name & address & leave it with the rest of the mail.

7. Get to the daily news paper before anyone else, put a small smear of glue at the corners of each page so they all stick together, rolling

Do you still have this item for sale ?

Answer
This is 100% a SCAM
1 - Paypal does not protect you on vehicle sales, this is one category specifically excluded from payment protection
2 - Paypal does not protect you unless YOU arrange for shipping to the buyer's verified address AND have proof of delivery. You have no recourse from Paypal if the buyer picks up the car from you or arranges their own shipping
Scammers know this but hope you don't
3 - the term 'pick up agent' is one used only by Craigslist scammers

What they do is pay you, have their "shipper" (them using another fake name) pick up the car then file a chargeback with Paypal claiming their account was hacked and there was an unauthorised transaction. Paypal then contacts you to provide proof of delivery to the buyer's home address. If you cannot provide this, Paypal debits the money from your account.

The scammer now has your car for free which they either sell to a chop shop or quickly resell on Craigslist in another city for a cheap price for cash.

Just google the first few sentences - it's already been reported as a scam by your same Daniel Lewis
http://www.kingmandailyminer.com/main.asp?SectionID=36&SubSectionID=73&ArticleID=48555 -- this guy got THREE emails from "buyers" all starting out exactly the same as yours

This is why Craiglist is very clear in their warnings when they tell you to only deal with people you can meet face to face and never give your paypal details to anyone http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams
"DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one rule and avoid 99% of scam attempts on craigslist....

NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.) "

Craiglist is only for local cash transactions
