How might I import a Nano car from India?

Baby_Astro

This website has info on the car, $2,500 and 50 miles per gallon: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=17984516

Answer
Different countries have different laws.

In Canada you can import, insure, and drive any car from any country (regardless of it passing the Canadian stipulations for it's class and year) that is I believe ten or fifteen years old.

However that varies with each Country.

I would contact your automobile insurance office, your local government transport office, and your local customs office (to see the costs involved).

As this car does not appear to be available in the country in which you live I would imagine you would have a great deal of difficulty importing and insuring it for use on your public streets.
If you are able to import it, you might be restricted to private property use. However, as it's less costly then many golf carts it might still be worth it.

Just for fun, visit the Tata Nano mini site, you can virtually customize a Nano. This will allow you to see all of the interior and exterior colors and options to see what is available and what you would like the best on your possible new car.

Best of luck, I love seeing imported cars in countries where they were never available.

P.S. Talk to a lawyer as a last case scenario, there's always the "Grey market" option that might be available. Your lawyer should know what I'm talking about.

The Nano convertible car?

Hi, I am thinking about purchasing the Nano car. I see it here in the US. Do you know where I can buy them? Do I have to go to Canada? Where do americans buy them? If you can please tell give me any info. you may have. Also do you know how fast they can go on the highway? Thank you.

Answer
Unless you want to go to India, spend thousands in flight costs and transportation of the vehicle costs, only to get back to the states and get crushed by an SUV, you are SOL.

Sorry!

I'm hoping to find out what time the Arctic Monkeys began their set at last years T in the Park? Although i was there i've forgotten. I need to know because it will give me a good idea of when the Kings of Leon will start their set this year. I have a long journey on the friday, and need to see if i should ditch my car and fly up or do the drive.

I got home from the airport and realized my suitcase has a huge rip in it! What do I do?

BradJC4

It was a Delta flight from Atlanta to Cleveland. I just threw my bag in the car and went home when I noticed it; the info says I have to go back to the airport within 24 hours, but its too damn far.

Answer
i do not see any chance of getting reimbursed for the damamge if not notified upon arrival to the airline staff.

i had my suitcase totally damaged a few months back and inspite of the damage report issued by their staff at an overseas airport they wanted me to take the bag to their ny office ( i leave in nj ) for visual inspection.

as i had discarded the bag in india there was no way i could
have taken it to their office.

i will get reimbursed but they try to make it difficult.

again,if you keep on calling them they might but that is a long shot.

good luck

What is a good way to travel through the southwest of india ie: goa and two provinces below and lakshadweep???

I am travelling with my wife and son. I have travelled through southeast asia and other third world regions. i love the culture , the food, and the lifestyle. I am looking to travel safely through Goa and the states below and possibly go to the lakshadweep islands . if you have any info on this area please help.

Answer
You can travel by air, road or rail.

There are plenty of airlines doing these routes now and bookings need to be done well in advance to avoid any holiday rush.

Road is another good way to travel (car or bus). There are a lot of privately run Volvo luxury buses which are very comfortable.

Railways is another option and you can travel by the Konkan railway line.

There is no catamaran service at present doing the Bombay - Goa route but some cruise lines offer 15 day packages or shorter (to and fro) on the routes ....departure Bombay or Goa .....and cruise down to the Lakshadweep islands with halts on the way.

If you are halting in Goa and want more info on this state you can contact me.....

Where can I go in San Diego for a day without a car?

Q. I'm 23 and will be flying to San Diego for a day with my younger sister, and rental car companies don't rent to people under 25. So I was wondering which places I can visit from the airport and have time to make it back for my flight. I plan to fly in on early saturday morning/ friday night, and stay till saturday evening when I get my flight back.
I have no family or friends there so I am pretty much looking for stuff to do around the area and places that wont take too long to travel by public transport.
I want to do some photography there so where are the best places?
Are there groups or organisations that would be able to take us around?
And renting a bike would be too tiring.

This is a serious question. Please do not ask "why would you go only for a day?"

Answer
Take the 10 minute bus trip (route 992) from the airport terminal to the Santa Fe Depot train station. From there you can catch the trolley which takes you close to a lot of tourist sites.

Some must see attractions are the world famous Zoo, Sea World, and Balboa Park. Known as the "Smithsonian of the West" Balboa Park is the largest urban cultural park in the country. You can get a park passport which allows you entry to a dozen museums as well as the zoo.

Other attractions in the park are the Air and Space Museum, Ruben H. Fleet Science Center, the Natural History Museum, the Museum of Man, the Automotive Museum, the Old Globe Theatre, the Hall of Champions, the Botanical Gardens, and the largest outdoor pipe organ in the world (free concerts on Sunday).

Take the trolley from Downtown to Old Town. There is a state park there that recreates life in the Mexican and early American periods of 1821 to 1872.

The USS Midway is an aircraft carrier turned into a museum

The Maritime Museum offers a hands-on look at San Diego's days as a bustling seaport. You can tour the Star of India, the world's oldest active merchant sailing ship.

Seaport Village is on the harbor and has some interesting shops as well as a great view of the ships on the harbor. Kansas City Barbeque is located at the Seaport Village trolley stop. Best BBQ in town, inexpensive, and it's where they filmed the bar scene in Top Gun. Plenty of interesting memorabilia on the walls and it also has outside dining.

For nightlife, the Gaslamp Quarter offers dining, drinking and dancing. It's also the home of Petco Park and the San Diego Padres major league baseball team.
