How do I get Siri to work on my iphone 4s?

I just bought a iphone 4s. When I hold the Home button down to access Siri, something called Voice Control pops up on the screen. Which is a way to access my contacts. Nothing related to Siri comes up. I tried going into location services under settings but could not figure it out. Please help me find Siri!!

Answer
The first thing you have to do with SIRI is add your name, if you want it to address you by name, and the language you want to speak, or rather listen to. Go to Settings>General>SIRI>My Info

Choose your name from the contact list and SIRI will address you by name. Choose the language you want to use and youâre all set. You can make other changes in the area too. They are very self-explanatory, so you wonât need step-by-step directions.

From far, far away â You can use SIRI by two different ways. If itâs across the room, on the dashboard of your car, or sitting on the table at home, press the home button. Hold it until there are two quick beeps. A microphone should appear on the screen. Start talking. Thatâs it! Pretty easy, huh? Just check to see if the microphone is on the screen and SIRI is ready for you to start talking and giving orders. You donât even need to yell or hold it close to your mouth.

From up, up close â Just pick it up and use is normally. Youâll still hear the two beeps that tell you SIRI is ready for your commands.

Remember, any voice recognition program has to be âprogrammedâ before it will work properly.

Itâs best if you talk in a normal voice but SIRI still needs you to enunciate (slowly say) many words before it will understand your voice. When you speak slowly and clearly it gets use to the way you speak and will deliver your commands better.

Always Have a Strong Connection â SIRI uses a remote server to process your words, so having a good connection will transmit your commands better.

Be Precise â In what you want SIRI to do. Instead of saying, âplay iTunesâ say, âPlay my playlist number 5â. Itâs easier for SIRI to understand specific command rather than general commands.

No Stuttering â Try not to stop in the middle of a command. Try not to use `ummmmâ or change the command in the middle of giving one. Use the whole command in one sentence or one go. SIRI can handle several commands but only if it/he/she has them all at once.

Speak Names Clearly â Say names clearly. When adding a contact you might have to repeat it several times before SIRI understands. Just say the name again and SIRI will give you an option box for the name. Accents need to be programmed into SIRI before it/he/she will understand the way your pronounce words.

Choose Relationship â When adding contacts, choose a relationship such as wife, son, daughter so you can say, âCall my wifeâ or âCall my daughterâ and SIRI will dial it right away.

How to get an auxiliary input in your car?

Chris

Hey there i just got a ford mustang 1998. Now obviously since its a 1998 it doesn't have an auxiliary input. Which i would like so i can play my iphone through the cars speakers. What can i do to get an auxiliary input in my car/how much would it cost just any info you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Answer
Does it have a cassette player? You can buy an adaptor that has a dummy cassette on one end, and a small stereo jack plug on the other. Place dummy cassette in player, connect jack to sound source, and your problem is solved. You should be able to pick one up in a shop or online for around £10.

Otherwise, you can buy a small radio transmitter that plugs into your audio device, which can send the sound to your car's radio. Just turn on and tune in.

Whenever I go car shopping I get anxiety as soon as the salesman walks to me. They always suck me in with their sweet talk and I am a genuinly nice person so I have a hard time being tough. How do you haggle with a salesman when you are anxious and timid? Also, on new cars, how much can you expect them to shave off the price. I am looking at a car that is ticket price 22195.

Answer
Educate yourself so you dont have to feel vulnerable. check out edmunds.com and read all the tips and advice until you know the difference between MSRP, invoice, dealer incentives and holdbacks. you can even get an idea how much the options cost in your area using the zip code/pricing options. you should be able to get a car for invoice ( which is still not what the dealer paid for it- they are still making money on it then!) this is why you need to know what is actually going on behind the salesmans pitch. and beware when he has to go and "ask his manager" about giving you a deal. he knows just what he can sell it for and it is a power play. Beware.

Also, Consumer reports, has a service that for $14.00, will give you a reasonable price for what you are looking for. They also have excellent reviews and ratings for new and used cars, repair history, way better and more knowledgable than what i would ever know what to look out for in a new car.

Also, check out the websites for the manufacturer/dealer of whatever car you are looking for. We bought a Mazda 3 a few years ago and saved money by purchasing one from a dealer that had just the model/ options we were looking for right on the lot. buying off the lot is always cheaper. I did have to drive 3 hours to go pick it up, but actually bought it over the phone as i already knew what i wanted and what i should pay- i had also made (ridiculously low ) offers to other dealers that had what i nearly wanted, to see what they would go for. then i used this info to play the dealers against each other - "well so and so will sell it for "X" etc", and they all wanted to make the deal. BTW, never purchase the additional things they try and talk you into after the price is set. it is a rip off, you can scotchguard your seats with a spray can from the store and it works just as well..... GL and happy shopping. ..... oh, and dont be in a hurry, make a good choice.

How much does a car seat cost?

Splendidly

I need to buy a car seat for a toy drive i'm participating in for a child who really needs one- how much do they usually cost and where can I find an affordable, nice one?
The child is 3 years old Btw.

Answer
Most important is do *not* buy a used car seat. It may not be an option with a toy drive... but it is important to keep in mind in any case. You should only use a used seat if you know it's history and have run it through the 'checklist' found on the website in my 'source' box below.

I would also avoid a seat with an 'overhead shield'... these have proven to be less safe but they sell so they are still on the market many places. Beyond that any new carseat you buy will be safe for the child *if used correctly*... so I would focus on trying to find one that is easy to use.

Myself... I can only afford the most basic seats, but I work very hard to use them properly. I tend to get mine at Walmart for $40-50... but of course you really need to decide just what age/size child you are shopping for before you get an exact brand/price recommendation.

I'd go here: http://www.cpsafety.com/default.aspx And check out their 'shopping guides'. They are fabulous for giving the 'basics' on shopping for a good affordable seat and giving info on some of the nice features that are available if you feel you can afford to go a 'step up'. :)

What was your scariest moment/experience? (vehicle related)?

My scariest moment was last years christmas road trip to gold coast queensland from sydney(australia).
My dad was driving at 120km/hr (about 75mph) on the Pacific Highway (Route 1). There were about 9 cars following my car because we were the car in front leading the way. About 650 km into the trip there was this straight stretch of road that goes for 1km+. Anyways a truck was coming towards my car in the oppsoite direction and then out of no where this purple car overtakes the semi trailer truck from behind, crosses into my lane heading straight for my car.

The car somehow overtook the truck and cut in front of the truck back into his lane at the very last second missing my car by inches. We were lucky that my dad was alert and slammed on the brakes when he saw the car coming (120km/h down to 80km/h in a second or 2). At that moment when the car was in my lane, i was thinking 2 cars heading for each other in the same lane with cars behind my car= Head on crash+10plus car pile up+semi trailer truck crashing through car pile up like dominos = Death.

Funny thing was, from that moment on, everyone in the car stayed awake for the remaining 400km of the trip.

For those of you not from Austraila, heres a pic of the exact road i was reffering to

Answer
WOW.....I have had some real "heart stoppers".......
First one in 1964.....was a passenger with my brother and his friend....(No seat belts in those days).
The idiot was driving too fast and showing off. We ended up fishtailing all over the road and in the ditch sideways..Lucky we weren't ejected from the car and killed...I was 17 at the time. BUT....that was nothing compared to my Father's wrath! Four months later. my brother was killed in the same car.....He was a passenger with the same friend...only it was not his fault...They were hit head on by a drunken driver and my brother was ejected through the windshield (no seat belts) Took me until I was 21 years old to get the courage to get my license.....Has made me very aware of the fools on the road and cautious. Always make sure I am courteous to my fellow travelers and don't take chances in bad weather

Answer
It was a nice fall day, a little warm, and me and my friend were driving through the mountains just looking at the foliage when we came upon a group of hikers walking down the side of the road. It was kind of warm and one of the hikers decided to take off his shirt. Well, being the gay tramp that he is, he practically broke his neck watching this guy do it as we drive past, and he kept on watching turning around to strain to see and he drove us right off a cliff. It was only about a 20 foot drop but it totaled the car, he hurt his neck (served him right), and I had to have one stitch put in my finger.

The cops laughted really hard when he told them what happened. I wasn't too happy.

What would it take for a cop to abandon a traffic stop to catch a different driver?

rondoggnut

I am not arguing that my assumptions are correct. But it seems to make sense, to me. When a cop is in the middle of a traffic stop, would he abandon it to catch a different traffic violation? What type of violation would motivate this? Speeding? Unlikely. But what about if he witnessed someone blow through a red light? Would he pursue it then?

========================================================================
EXTRA INFO, FEEL FREE TO IGNORE

In 17 years driving, I have always kinda chuckled at people who slow down when they see blue lights at a traffic stop, as if they are more likely to get stopped. I've always seen the opposite: the cop is most likely busy with the current stop, unless it's ending, so you should have a BETTER chance to get away with it, no? Especially on the freeway, it's probable that only one patrol car is in the area, so it seems safe to assume that one can speed freely, no?

But even on your standard 35 mph road, I tend to think that very few things would motivate the officer to abandon his current traffic stop. Particularly with speeding, I find it very unlikely that another cop is assisting in an operation. It's certainly possible, but in many cases like tonight, it's midnight and the roads are clear. So, as long as the current stop isn't wrapping up, it should be perfectly safe to violate most traffic laws, no?

I took it a step further tonight. A traffic stop was in progress about 100 ft from the next intersection. The light turned yellow as I approached it, but I knew I would definitely not make it in time. I was right, because it turned red when I was about 20 ft from the stop line.

The funny thing is that I would have stopped if the cops WASN'T there, on the basis that he would have to witness it, and then abandon his current stop, just to get me instead. My reasoning is that he likely won't even pay attention to trivial things like that, particularly because he THINKS that no one is brazen enough to do it. But supposing he DOES witness it, would he pursue it? A near miss? Sure. But on the basis of boldness? I can't envision it? Another possibility is he can simply tell the first driver to stay put, then go after me and come back to the first driver. Is that even possible? It's not like he can order me to follow him to his first stop. I wouldn't comply if he tried anyway.

To top it off, two intersections away is my left turn. But because I knew that at least one cop was preoccupied, I went ahead and ignored the red light, instead making sure that no one was nearby (both cars and pedestrians). In fact, I'm so confident that my analysis is accurate, that I did all of this while under the influence of alcohol. Not excessively, but there's a good chance I was over the limit, though a cop would never get a sample from me unless he arrested me. An unlikely occurence because my actions hardly constitute probable cause for DUI.

In fact, I've been pulled over 4 times in my life (for equipment violations, and once, 30 in a 25), and I readily admitted to drinking all 4 times. I submitted to HGN all 4 times, but was never asked for more. Which is fitting, because I would refuse all other tests anyway, including the roadside breath test. Instead, I was free to go, and I tested my BAC at home after 2 of the 4 stops, and got 0.18 and 0.22%. Alcoholic? Certainly. But dangerous? No, according to the professional judgment of 7 officers.

I pulled over 4 times, but I was lit up 5 times. The fifth was when I *safely* blew a stop sign in a residential area, and I saw him too late. But due to the fact that it wasn't unsafe, I decided to ignore him, instead hiding on the LEFT side of the next cul-de-sac. Sirens blaring, a homeowner came out, so I fled the scene about 2 minutes later, NOT going back to the scene of the "crime." My heart was racing for about a week after, because I just committed a felony. But in the end, I did the absolute most virtuous thing I could. I wasn't unsafe, so I didn't morally deserve to pay for it, even though the law requires that I do.

I'm sure that nearly everyone disapproves, but it doesn't prove that I was unsafe. Likewise, not everyone is being unsafe when they break certain laws. And don't even try the "slippery slope" argument, as if I will gradually get worse and worse. My driving and criminal records are spotless, btw.

Answer
Officers on my department average two warnings for every citation. If an officer is on a stop and in the process of giving a warning and sees something that would warrant a citation, he would certainly abandon the warning in favor of the more dangerous driving that would result in a citation.

As far as your personal history, I suspect your luck is due to change. Especially since refusal to do field sobriety is probable cause for arrest.

As far as your self administered test for BAC, I would certainly be interested on how those tests were performed.

How do you go about buying a car from ebay and not getting scammed?

Tears are

i have a friend who wants to buy a car from ebay but he is afraid of being scammed. How do you go about paying for it without doing it in advance? And seeing the car first then paying? And getting the car? Thanks for the info

Answer
You winning the car is not necessarily a commitment to buy. It depends on the situation. Most reputable sellers are dealers and they will let you bid, then come in for financing and a test drive knowing that it may not work out. If it is an individual selling a vehicle, I would be more skeptical. I would contact them up front and ask if they would let you test drive and take it to your mechanic before paying. Do NOT pay through PayPal as soon as you win and without seeing or driving the vehicle first. Also, you can ask for the VIN number and go to Carfax.com to see what the car's history is. I did this and found that the car I was interested in EBay was a former lease with a clean record. I bid on a brand new Monte Carlo that had only 10,000 miles on it. My max bid was 10,000 and it went for a little over that to another buyer. I was disappointed, but later found that the person who had bought it had paid for it right away only to go pick it up and find that it had dents and body damage. They obviously left negative feedback and I was thankful then that I hadn't won! On the other hand, we know a couple who got a great deal on a van and it worked out great. Just be careful and watch our for scammers on Ebay motors. After the Monte Carlo experience, I got a second chance offer on it that asked me to log into my PayPal account and pay if I still wanted it. I have been a buyer and seller on EBay for years and knew it sounded suspicious. I contacted ebay and they told me it was fraudulent and it was reported. I guess my point it take it slow and don't get too wrapped up in it. Treat it the same way you would if you were looking at cars as usual to buy. Good luck!

Why don't people know about Moteur Development International, France who make cars run on compressed air?

car news from india on Vehicle registration plates of India - Wikipedia, the free ...

Stuart Had

Is the answer to keep people ignorant so that greedy manufacturers can go on polluting the planet and fighting wars for oil? The answer is to spread the word about the Tata Motor Company in India and MDI in France and another company in Melborne, Australia who are all producing the cleanest cars on the planet that cost very little to run using compressed air. You are either part of the solution or part of the problem. Go green today. Stop using gas guzzling, polluting vehicles and get a really clean car that uses only air. If you are really so concerned about pollution get entrepeneurs, engineers and scientists to produce compressed air cars of your own in the greedy polluting United States of America before the whole world is brought into a war because of the silly short sighted need for oil. Make sure you vote green and inform all Democrats about the green solution. The Republicans are past help. They are mostly selfish greedy mean warmongers who think money is better than people.

Answer
They don't know, because if it was a reliable, long-distance vehicle, it would be all over the news. It probably isn't, it's probably a short-distance car with no stamina, so it is <practically> useless for most American driving.

There used to be compressed air locomotive engines, but they could only go so long a distance before needing a recharge of pressure ( EXTREMELY high pressure ). So I doubt there is any service station available that can do THAT yet anywhere.

As far as mean, money-hungry politicians, why don't you ask about Mr. Jefferson, the $90,000-in-the-freezer Democrat, or the other Earmark specialists in the DNC, who are so anti-money? Huh? Because they're ALL hungry for money ( mostly taxpayers ). Republicans don't have the history of tax-and-spend of the Democrats, but they're catching up. Stupid idiots. All of them.

Anyway, your air engine probably won't work long-term. Might be a high-density urban partial solution, but needing external power to be provided for it's fuel, it's already doomed due to it's non-independent operational needs. If you can get a ready supply of high-pressure air available, ok, sure, it might be doable. But I doubt it right now.

What do you think about Obama Stimulas package?

Sean N

I hear alto about it on the news it seems like it can do some good. I don't really know much about polotics. But I just want to know what you think about it?

Answer
I love this stimulas package... and let me tell you why!

The United States of America is no longer a Super Power, the reason we are not... is because we don't invest in our own people... our schools suck and we have the worst health care in the world..

Our cars suck... I personaly owed many American cars and all of them failed me.. I now drive a used Luxus.

We send billions of dollars to other countrys a year and we don't want new computers, health care, jobs, tax breaks, fix the dams , roads.. to our own people... then Japan , China , India will always have the best engineers, and techonology..

We need to invest in our country , work hard, creat products here., make better cars , radios, laptops, high speed rail way, we need health care.. we need help!!

WE NEED JOBS

What are those widgets mounted to the PATH train tracks in Newark NJ?

It looks like this.
https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/s480x480/529104_10151314475641863_1947428012_n.jpg
Originally I was thinking "signal system" but these grey boxes are only show up in the Newark area, so I'm not sold on them being used to improve the signal system. Perhaps they're used to report their location to stations and give passenger an accurate arrival time?
Here's a similar device:
http://www.clearsy.com/wp-content/uploads/kpva-250x150.jpg

Answer
It is called a transponder.

It is part of the signal system and is intended to be used with a Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) system that will be instituted in the near future (by 2017)

http://www.metro-magazine.com/news/story/2010/01/siemens-venture-signs-321m-path-rail-deal.aspx.

The NYC Subway already has this on the L line and is currently installing on the 7 line.

A CBTC system allows trains to communicate with a computer system allowing for a more automatic operation of the trains and allow trains to be operated closer together. It will not (at least for now) do away with the person at front of the train (Engineer or Train Operator) or the conductor.

EDIT:

It is part of the signal system (you don't have to believe it but it is true). The new PATH cars (PA-5) are equipped with computers which will allow the trains to automatically communicate with a signal system that will allow for trains to be operated closer together. That is what the CBTC system is.

PATH installed them in the Newark area first because that area is all outdoors. They will be proceeding southward to Journal Square. Once that is done they will concentrate on the underground portions. Those will take longer because there is less room to work in when you are underground.

Where Do I gain the knowledge to Run a successful used car dealership?

car dealership info on ... & Regulations Governing Auto Dealers at DMV.org: The DMV Made Simple
car dealership info image

o

I am currently a college student and I thinking of starting a car dealership after I graduate, but I have Completely NO Idea how to gain the knowledge to do so effectively.

1) Where would I learn stuff like how to negotiate good deals with auctions and customers, & general biz operations etc.

2 Also, how much do u think it would cost to start a used dealership?

To all the dealership owners/employees/knowledgeable people what advice would you give me? Thanks!

Answer
quick answer. get a job at a dealership as a saleman. you'll learn the basics and some of the inside info. maybe a few basic business classes. the car biz is hit or miss....good luck

Is it legal for car dealerships to keep info from you?

Tabitha

Is it legal for a car dealership not tell you how much you have left on your car when buying it from them? For example I am buying a car from our local dealership.. I asked them today how much I have left on it.. They replied I can not tell you that?!? Is that legal? Why can't they tell me if it is legal??? I am paying quite a big for a car and I want to know what I have left on it.

Answer
Otto is exactly right and it's obvious that you are involved with a bad buy here pay here lot. I suggest that you gather whatever paperwork you have from this deal and have someone who understands the business review the agreement. Apparently you have a contract that is either open ended or never ending. I'll bet the registration is not solely in your name. The debt is likely in anothers name too. An attorney or consumer advocate may be a helpful option. As far as the legality: There are many situations in business that are governed more by ethics than law. Big brother can't protect everyone from everything, and that's good. Too many laws make for too many criminals. But there are other avenues to seek justice from unethical people. Your deal smells bad. Get help.

What US law was recently passed that ties into the Bali Conference and has something to do with cars?

Answer
Congress passs the law:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/environment/july-dec07/bali_12-17.html

From the conference:
For now, the U.S. stands alone as the only major industrialized country to reject the Kyoto agreement on climate change, which is set to expire in 2012. But Congress is nearing approval of an energy bill that would include raising fuel standards for passenger vehicles for the first time in 30 years. It would require a fleet-wide average of 35 miles per gallon by 2020.

Hope this helps

For people who use the knives do not kill as many people argument I say this. It still does not resolve the issue of violence. Killing less people is not a trade off. There is no indication of how bad the injuries are; are they maimed scared on their face. It is still trauma. To even suggest it is ok to remove guns because at least not as many will die is asinine. England has a gun ban and they did not have any where near as many guns as we do now. The murders in England have not gone down with the banning of guns. The amount of murders with guns have been an even exchange for murders with knives. Casket sales are still up and that is the change we need to make. So the guns kill more at one time is a moot point. It is a behavior issue, not a weapons issue.

How are the Syrian Rebels winning against Assad?

Unflushabl

Don't get me wrong I'm not against them or anything, but, I'm curious as how the rebels are winning against Assad who has a trained army with jets, tanks, rockets etc.. and backing by Iran. Where as the rebels are fighting with limited supplies and a limited arsenal. I mean most of the news videos and pictures show them mounted in little trucks and cars with machine guns. While just the other day they are said to have captured a Dam and an airbase? Idk some one enlighten me.

Answer
who are the Syrian rebels? Arent they the people Assad called terrorists?
One mans rebel is another man's terrorist?

Let us look at the most recent past. The Egypt rebels turned out to be Muslim Brotherhood. While we have not seen the replacement for Libya's Khadaffy, is it possible that They are also MB's?

If this is so, then this whole movement is the concerted and organized removal of the predominantly Sunni leaders by the Shias to be replaced by Shias.

Why cant the news sources call it that instead of using confusing labels such as "rebels", " freedom fighters","terrorists", etc

Why do police have the hood on their cars up when they are investigating a accident?

HeavyMetal

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkY6CkXvqIE&feature=channel

Example: on this news video it is at 0:16 seconds

I see it a lot on the news and just wondering why they do it?
It seems like the state troopers do it, i always see and accident on the news and the state troopers have the hood up for some reason but i have never seen local police do it.

Answer
I've never seen that before, and I used to be a trooper.

However, squads that patrol the interstate can reach high speeds when responding to a call. They also cover a lot of ground, so they can be several miles away. My guess is the engine gets pretty hot when they are responding, so they pop the hood to help it cool down. City squads don't have such a large area to cover, and they can't go as fast on city streets, so their cars don't get so hot when responding.

I have a limited budget.
The shipping would be or to Germany or to Italy.
Can anybody tell me which requirements I have to meet to be able to drive my car in Europe? Is there the need for a special car inspection?
What about the insurance?
I would appreciate any info to any of my questions
Thanks

Answer
Seriously, unless you have a very expensive car, it does not worth shipping it. Just sell it and buy one in Europe.

Which states do NOT require an annual car inspection?

Q. Surely 3 police cars is the most that would be needed. I was just watching the following video on CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2007/09/07/vo.truck.chase.ktrk

Answer
That's not normal. The reason that it was on the news is because it was a strange event.
If someone refuses to stop for police and starts running, usually they call every available car to chase them.. they want to make sure the person won't get away.

Can a person press charges on a cop? Can a person fight back if a cop being to aggressive and violent.?

carlosc1db

For example during a stop can you engage in combat with a cop if he starts to push you and punch you? What are your rights against cops like these? I once saw a police chase where at the end a man got out of his car and everyone tackled him down, and then one cop comes while the guy is on the floor and kicks him in his privates. Can you charge him with assult and sue the department?

Answer
Yes you can, but u better have some witnesses, cause w/o them ur doomed. It's extremely hard to fight the cops, they seem to get away with everything. I'm sure you've seen the news. Even when they have a video, they still get away with assault. Good Luck

jenjen;

I just found my old nintendo ds, and I wanna see if it still works and stuff, but I can only find the car charger, not the actual outlet charger. Is there a way I can charge it in my house using the car charger somehow?

Answer
Well it would be cheaper if you just charge the unit in your car. But that wasn't your question was it. Well if I wanted to get that job done,I would simply Go to your nearest radio shack buy yourself a cheap transformer 110volt to 12v with a 3 amp output it may will cost about 10 to 20 dollars some models even come with a 12v plug right on the front of it ready to go. Now if you had some knowledge in electronics you could check you specs. on the nintendo ds for charger volts and amps and look around the house or garage for a smaller transformer like one from old answering machine cordless phone or a broken laptop computer a lot of those items work with a 12v transformer it's the little black box that plugs into the wall outlet and try to match the nintendo ds specs and then go from there..But please don't do this unless you have the knowledge in the field of electronics repair you could get hurt or damage your game unit or even a fire not good. Hopefully this info will help you out if so great have some fun,

Buying a car in a different state than where you live?

mb20and151

My dad found a car in Wisconsin for me but I live in Vegas. He's going to drive it out here. I heard that it's not good to do that because "cars are made differently for Wisconsin than for Vegas." Is that true? I thought all cars of a particular make were the same and not fine tuned to the area where they are to be driven. Is it wise to have him bring the car?
I know I physically CAN drive it here. I am asking if it will have more problems here. If it was made for cooler temperatures and will have difficulties with the weather in Vegas.

Answer
As long as it is 50 state certified, or certified to the same emission standards as NV, then you should be fine. Or does the vehicle you're purchasing in Wisconsin have some "cold weather option package" that is giving you some concerns?

Usually, NV will get some CA-emission spec. vehicles, as opposed to the non-CA emission spec. vehicles, so that may be where you are hearing some concern.

I think your bigger concerns should be on how to physically get the car from Wisconsin to Vegas. Can the dealer in Wisconsin get you a NV title? Will you have to pay both Wisconsin and NV sales or excise tax? Can you get a temporary plate to drive it out of state, or will your father have to plate it in Wisconsin, and then resell it again to you once in NV to replate it? Or would a better route be to pay for an auto transporter to put it on a truck and ship it down to you?
see: http://www.dmvnv.com/nvreg.htm#Out-of-State for the NV DMV registration info for buying a vehicle from an out of state dealer
or http://www.dmvnv.com/nvreg.htm#private if from a private seller

Good luck!

Porn DVD Screams Prompt Sword 'Rescue'
Wednesday, February 21, 2007 12:53 PM EST
The Associated Press

OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (AP) â A man says he broke into an apartment with a cavalry sword because he thought he heard a woman being raped, but the sound actually was from a pornographic movie his upstairs neighbor was watching.

"Now I feel stupid," said James Van Iveren, who has been charged in the case. "This really is nothing, nothing but a mistake."

http://adelphia.net/news/read.php?id=13473726&ps=931&lang=en

Answer
I definitely do not think that he should have been charged with a crime. My goodness what if a real rape had been occuring and the police came only after the entire act had occured and the perp had left? This should fall under the "good samaritan" ideal. James Van Iveren is a person who thought something terrible was going on, acted to stop it and should not be punished in "any way, shape, or form." I am also sure that James is the type of person who would pay for any damages he caused since he did try to "do the right thing" in the first place. I also think that he should not be embarrassed or feel stupid, because of this. If I could, I would give him a hug and tell him thanks for caring enough and for willing to put himself in harm's way for a stranger. As far as the police being called, even if he did have a phone, I would like to know, how many people would have wanted him to dial 911 and then just sit around thinking that he had done all he could? What if it had been REAL? What if it had been YOUR REAL Mother, wife, sister, girlfriend, female friend or your daughter? Thanks James!!!!! You are a HERO!!!!!

(As for the guy watching his porn too loud--yeah, I definitely agree with what he said in his interview that he would lower the volume or get some headphones. This should serve as a reminder to those "Loud Music/TV watchers" to knock the volume down a bit. I think that all people should be more respectful than to play their tvs, radios or whatever so loud that everyone around them can hear it----this goes for ANY loud music or tv, in cars, homes, anywhere really and especially when you are sharing walls or airspace with other people.

IN CNN TODAY: A case where neighbors heard and called 911, but did not act. Instead they relied on waiting for the police.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An internal affairs report detailing an Jacksonville Sheriff's
Office deputy's slow response to a 911 call for help in a child abuse case calls for the
officer's suspension, Channel 4 learned. Police were called to an Arlington apartment
complex on Dec. 4. However, 24 minutes passed after the first call for help from a
concerned neighbor -- who said it sounded as if the parents were trying to kill the child --
before the first police officer arrived. The child's mother, 21-year-old Brittane Stanard,
and her boyfriend, 25-year-old Kahlil Mabuyi, were arrested after the incident. Both were
sailors on the USS John F. Kennedy and are facing an aggravated child abuse charge.
Investigators said the couple beat the 5-year-old girl for 30 minutes -- most of that time
after the first call was placed to 911. According to dispatchers, the first call came into the
911 center at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 4:
Caller: "They are, like, trying to kill the child."
Operator: "Are they outside or inside the apartment?"
Caller: "No, they're inside but you can hear it through the door."
Operator: "OK, we'll get officers out there."
Fourteen minutes later, another neighbor called 911:
Caller: "I'd like to report a child being abused. Someone else called it in about 20
minutes ago, and police haven't gotten here yet."
A third call was placed four minutes later:
Caller: "The people upstairs are about to kill their daughter. They are beating her
and beating her and she is screaming. They won't stop. This has been going on."
Operator: "How old is the child?"
Caller: "She's like 4 or 5. They're throwing her around. I need to go up there."
Operator: "Ma'am, no, no, do not."
Caller: "It's been 25 minutes."
Operator: "Let the police handle that. You do not need to go up there and get shot
or hurt."
Caller: "OK. No, but she's going to die. If they keep hitting her like this, she's
going to die."
Operator: "Ma'am, the officers are on the way and in the area. Do not go up
there."
About 24 minutes after the first call for help, an officer arrived.
Police reports officers "observed welts and considerable swelling on both of the victim's
legs, both of her arms, both of her shoulders, her back, her stomach and her chest." The
lax response time to the call prompted an internal investigation. Two months later, the
investigation concluded that it took police too long to respond to the scene of the alleged
child abuse. The report states the officer G.E. Dobkin was less than 3 miles from the call
and did not follow the rules. It states that he was writing tickets instead of going to help
the girl, and that the officer was worried about getting in trouble for not finishing the
tickets. It said Dobkins changed the battery in progress call's priority 1 status --
emergency/life-threatening -- to an investigation call prior to arriving at the scene of the
incident.
The report also said the officer did not use his lights and siren while en route to the
Arlington apartment complex because he thought the call was routine and did not want to
put drivers in danger along University Boulevard during rush hour.
Finally, the report recommended the charges of failure to conform to work standards,
failure to take prompt action and incompetence against Dobkins be classified as sustained.

Fortunately, in this case this poor child did not die. But, I am sure that the child would have greately appreciated someone coming to her rescue even if it had "just been a neighbor" and not a police officer. Child, woman, man, no one should be left in danger because the "proper authorities" should be the ones to come to the person's rescue, because someone already did their part and called "911" or because someone is afraid of getting charges placed against them. Sometimes, non-police officers are the only ones who can make a difference. To James Van Iveren and to the child who saved my life when I was a toddler, "Thank-you with all my heart."

After his minor car accident when he hit a tree, and his wife smashed the rear window with a golf club to free him - it's speculated that it was not an 'accident', but rather his wife went after him after there was news in the tabloids that Tiger may have had an extra marital affair.

What do you think?

Answer
It's no longer speculation but fact. Tiger had multiple affairs.

My opinion of him mostly concerns his genius on the golf course. That remains unchanged. Then again, at age 40, my days of blindly worshiping athletes are long past.

Answer
A clump of hair smacked across Colin's face. The wind even tried wrestling him to the ground. Instead of newspapers, it felt as if Colinâs news-bag was full of Nova Scotia potatoes.

Maybe it had to do with the news dad read before Colin left the house. The morning headlines were full of the usual sad stories.

"For goodness sakes," dad said. "No good news again!"

CAR ACCIDENTS! HOUSE BURNS! STORM DAMAGE!

Colin wished he could have been able to cheer up dad. He moved quickly from house to house leaving papers on the porch or in the mailbox.

It helped being the fastest runner in the school and even wearing his new running shoes.

Right now Colin wished he could bring only good news to his family, also to his friendly neighbors. "There's that paper boy bringing sad news again," they were probably saying.

"How could he make things better for everyone?" he wondered as he continued to deliver his papers.

He met Nathan near Victoria Park. Colin really liked Nathan, even if his words sometimes got mixed up.

Someone told him Nathan was mentally challenged. But Colin didn't care. Nathan was his friend.

Colin noticed Alice coming. She was in his class. She only had one real eye. The other was made of glass. He liked Alice even if people called her, "Bionic lady," behind her back.

He didn't realize how much It helped her, having a friend like Colin.

The dog down the street barked loudly. Prince was lonely tied to his chain and Colin knew all he needed was a good friend. He always liked to pat the dog's head.

Prince's breath was warm as he licked Colin's hand.

"It's okay boy," he told the dog.

Each time Colin left a paper by a customer's door he felt bad, such sad news. How could he make some good news? He thought about it a lot, as he made his rounds.

Colin gave his usual cheerful "Hi" to everyone on his route. Adults and children on both sides of the street yelled and waved back.

His smile was like the rising sun.

Someone was crying and he ran to where a little boy had fallen and hurt his leg. Colin calmed him down until the boy's mother arrived.

"I'm glad you're my paperboy," she told Colin.

He continued on his route, still ten more customers to go. But, he didn't feel tired. It was fun doing what he usually did, helping others.

Now, let's see. What else could he do to cheer up people?

His best friend Donna came by to pick up her paper. It saved him from going all the way to the second floor.

It was her way of saying âthanksâ for giving her a chance to earn money, helping him on Saturdays. She was saving money for Christmas presents.

Besides, he liked Donna a lot.

Mr. Weatherby was such a grouch but Colin didn't mind. His car was not working, again. And Mr. Weatherby's lawn was all grown up, again.

Colin would come later and cut the grass. No charge, again.

He raced up the street to his last customer. Colin had quite a bit of energy left, as he bounded up the stairs. Mrs. Williams saw him coming and had her usual snack waiting.

She wondered why such a lively boy always had time to chat with an old lady.

Lemonade and his favorite peanut butter cookies were a neat treat. After all, she had told him many times he was her favorite paperboy.

His own treat for his customers came from his little boy's heart. Colin was so full of joy, and it made him many friends.

Everyone looked forward to his daily trips with the newspaper, even if some of the news was sad.

There were customers from all over. Some even came from China and Africa. Others had thick, wavy hair and some, no hair.

Colin didn't mind. He liked them all.

Some of his customers were fat, others skinny. And some had customs and clothes, which were different. But it didn't matter to Colin.

He liked them all.

Colin did have much good news to share, even if he didn't realize it. His smile and polite manners brought cheering-up news to all his customers.

Yes, Colin was a very special paperboy.

if so, what is the reward?

Answer
Well, the reward would be what the TV or news station wants to pay to buy the rights to your video or tape and use it.
I have seen this back fire, watched the TV plus the person with video, getting sued, as the whole tape of the incident was not given, only what they wanted to be shown for enticement news.
Many police cars carry cameras so that they can video tape the event as it unfolds.

How do I have more interest in books?

alipio

I need to be a better person. Reading not watching TV and surfing the web all the time. Any suggestions? Thanks.
My interests are wierd stories but not scary. I've read Siddartha and the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Those kind of novels. I also hate books with big words, unless its a really good book.

Who is the guy who invented a new fuel atomizer for your car?

josef

I remember seeing a local news spot about this guy in Arkansas (i think it was Arkansas) who invented this fuel distribution system that atomized the fuel as it sprayed it into your cylinders, and is supposed to vastly increase your mileage. Does anybody know where i can find more information?

Answer
Another urban legend. Ever see a photo of a standard fuel injector spraying gas or diesel? I doubt you could atomize it much more than it already is.
