what?!?! you can Wrap your car with advertisments?!?!?

TheChomp.

So i am kind of interested in wrapping my car with an advertisement. How does this work? I heard you get paid for wrapping it, if so how much?? Please can you give me detail on it as much as you can to help me make my decision?

Answer
What you want to do is do a search on "paid to drive advertising". or paid to wrap your car. A better search would be to add your local area in the search string ie paid to drive advertising in los angeles. There are a ton of companies out there offering info on this. Be careful some of them are just broker sites or sites selling the info on getting paid to drive or paid to get your car wrapped. If they want you to pay something up front then it's a scam. Most major cites and heavily populated areas have paid to drive opportunities. You will most likely not get to choose the sponsor wrap that they will wrap your vehicle with. You will probably not find anyone who will pay you to wrap your car. The deal is the car wrap is free and they will pay you anywhere from around $350-$400 a month to drive their ad around. So this a supplemental income venture not a full-time job. They will want you to travel the most congested routes of couse for more exposure so if your a shortcut or backroad driver then forget the idea. ;) A lot of the companies will actually chose a route for you or pay you on a scale based on the different routes that are available in your area. If you are a road warrior that likes to drive 800 miles or more a month and live in a highly populated area you have a good chance of being selected. There is a waiting list for these opportunities due to the fact that there are more people interested in doing this than there are opportunities available. In some cases they will actually give you the use of a free car if you are in a highly desirable area. So if you live in a major city you have much better odds of getting accepted and of course the wait time to process your paid to drive application will be much less. I unfortunately live in an area that isn't populated enough to have this opportunity. Doesn't hurt to fill out the applications. You never know. Good luck! ;)

Car Trouble (Coolant Leak)?

desertsk8t

I noticed that my car was getting very hot, so i took it to have the coolant flushed and refilled. while refilling, the mechanic said that he noticed a leak in there, but had no idea where it was (unless i pay extra for him to find it). well, i had to work, so i just picked up my car and left. I put some sealing fluid (radiator) in the radiator and left. Tongiht while i was driving my car starting letting out high amounts of steam from the front, and eventually started to rattle whenever id give it gas...as i slowed down, well, it eventually died. A friend looked at it and said the Water Pump had a leak and was spraying coolant everywhere, which got on the belt and loosened it (which hypothetically caused the squeak). we put more coolant and drove to a parking spot squeak free. does this sound like it is the pump? if so, how could i fix it besides going to the shop?
i own a 1996 pontiac firebird

Answer
well sweetie, it would help if you gave some info like type of car, year, engine, ect... but since you didnt i can tell you that many waterpumps have weep holes that will leak water as a way of saving your engine if you over heat or have other problems like its getting old and will be failing soon, so its possible that you have a weep hole thats leaking and yes that would soak your belts and make them slip and squeal. now that hole is small and since the cooling sys is under pressure it can spray water when hot. now heres a quick fix that would make my dad roll over in his grave but you can take a self taping screw that slightly thicker than the hole and wrap some teflon tape around it- white plummbers tape- and then screw it into the hole but be careful not to over tighten because you will strip out the hole- its only aluminum, and that will stop the leak and let you drive trouble free for a while. i did that to the waterpump on a chevy truck of mine and it lasted for yrs that way, but honestly this is a temp fix to get you to your next paycheck so the waterpump can be replaced properly. i hope this helps sweetie, and a mechanic that would charge extra to do a pressure test on the cooling system is a rip-off. go to autozone, use their pressure tester for free and you hook it up in place of the radiator cap and pump it like a bicycle pump and then look for where the water is coming out, sometimes its the pump, other times its an old bypass hose or a heater hose or what have you. but those are my best suggestions and as you can see some girls know about cars, lol.

What are some alternatives to getting a car spray painted?

What are some alternatives to getting a car spray painted? I've heard about something called body wrapping? Does anyone have info on this or had it done? OR does anyone know any other alternatives to spray painting? Also, what would the pricing be for a 4 door sedan?

Answer
Car wraps or body wraps are usually for advertising, not as a solution for getting a paint job. They would also be more expensive than getting a painy jon and not last as long. They might be a good choice if you like to design a different look every few years, but financially it isn't a smart move.

My car is red, and I want to paint it black. But getting spray paint seems a bit pricey.

Answer
You can DIY your own auto painting project. As long as you get a decent brand of HVLP spray gun set. It does not have to be the top of the Line 300 dollar gun, a 125 dollar paint gun will do. Nearly all of the HVLP guns are maded in China, now. Dupount Nasson is a good band for automotive work. Most paints don't require to be forced dryed, so a clean garage will do. Just will need to practice with some Rustolem before spraying the good stuff. Also will need to wear Resprator, paint flumes can kill.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows what those are called, because I don't even know how to look them up. I am interested in doing some advertising that way, but have not been able to figure out where to start.

Any help on that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Oh yeah, while we are on the subject, does anyone know how to get to be the person with other people's advertisements?

Any info. on the subject will be great, thanks!
Randahl,

Thanks, but what I am looking for is how to get one made for MY company. We have a vehicle that we would like to use as an advertisement.

Thus, as the original question says, I need to find out more about those type of advertisements and what they are CALLED so I can look up more information on them.

Thank you for your input though.

I amtrying to find some fund raising events for my sons school district does anyone have any creative ideas?

antoweril

My sons school district is going to be laying off 11full timeteachers this coming school year because os lack of funds. It will bring the average classroom to 25-30 students. I have been going to board meetings and gathering info. In the meantime Iwould like to start afund for the teachers. Does anyone have any creative ideas for fundraising?

Answer
Oh my- 11 teachers! Awful. One of the schools in our area has sort of a block party. Basically people just donate money during the day and into the days leading up to the event. Each classroom makes t-shirts (kids design and sign) and kids buy them for small profit. Bake sale, car wash. Kids get sponsors to donate money for how many laps they walk around the football field
Carnival-type games: some I thought were a bit unusual- 1) they set up a dog kennel fence for the "jail" You pay $1 to "arrest" someone, they have to pay $1 for "bond". They have coloring books, etc in the jail to make it fun. 2)Car Smash- someone donates a junk car and you pay $5 to have 1 minute to smash it with a sledge hammer- googles and gloves are provided.

Also, hosting a big sporting event tv viewing (to bad SuperBowl is over) Usually school has projection tv- get lots of seating - donates snacks & drinks and charge admission

I know lots of people who would rather just give money than to buy the trinkets/gift wrap/magazines etc. Good luck! I hate to hear of teacher lay-offs

What would it take for a cop to abandon a traffic stop to catch a different driver?

I am not arguing that my assumptions are correct. But it seems to make sense, to me. When a cop is in the middle of a traffic stop, would he abandon it to catch a different traffic violation? What type of violation would motivate this? Speeding? Unlikely. But what about if he witnessed someone blow through a red light? Would he pursue it then?

========================================================================
EXTRA INFO, FEEL FREE TO IGNORE

In 17 years driving, I have always kinda chuckled at people who slow down when they see blue lights at a traffic stop, as if they are more likely to get stopped. I've always seen the opposite: the cop is most likely busy with the current stop, unless it's ending, so you should have a BETTER chance to get away with it, no? Especially on the freeway, it's probable that only one patrol car is in the area, so it seems safe to assume that one can speed freely, no?

But even on your standard 35 mph road, I tend to think that very few things would motivate the officer to abandon his current traffic stop. Particularly with speeding, I find it very unlikely that another cop is assisting in an operation. It's certainly possible, but in many cases like tonight, it's midnight and the roads are clear. So, as long as the current stop isn't wrapping up, it should be perfectly safe to violate most traffic laws, no?

I took it a step further tonight. A traffic stop was in progress about 100 ft from the next intersection. The light turned yellow as I approached it, but I knew I would definitely not make it in time. I was right, because it turned red when I was about 20 ft from the stop line.

The funny thing is that I would have stopped if the cops WASN'T there, on the basis that he would have to witness it, and then abandon his current stop, just to get me instead. My reasoning is that he likely won't even pay attention to trivial things like that, particularly because he THINKS that no one is brazen enough to do it. But supposing he DOES witness it, would he pursue it? A near miss? Sure. But on the basis of boldness? I can't envision it? Another possibility is he can simply tell the first driver to stay put, then go after me and come back to the first driver. Is that even possible? It's not like he can order me to follow him to his first stop. I wouldn't comply if he tried anyway.

To top it off, two intersections away is my left turn. But because I knew that at least one cop was preoccupied, I went ahead and ignored the red light, instead making sure that no one was nearby (both cars and pedestrians). In fact, I'm so confident that my analysis is accurate, that I did all of this while under the influence of alcohol. Not excessively, but there's a good chance I was over the limit, though a cop would never get a sample from me unless he arrested me. An unlikely occurence because my actions hardly constitute probable cause for DUI.

In fact, I've been pulled over 4 times in my life (for equipment violations, and once, 30 in a 25), and I readily admitted to drinking all 4 times. I submitted to HGN all 4 times, but was never asked for more. Which is fitting, because I would refuse all other tests anyway, including the roadside breath test. Instead, I was free to go, and I tested my BAC at home after 2 of the 4 stops, and got 0.18 and 0.22%. Alcoholic? Certainly. But dangerous? No, according to the professional judgment of 7 officers.

I pulled over 4 times, but I was lit up 5 times. The fifth was when I *safely* blew a stop sign in a residential area, and I saw him too late. But due to the fact that it wasn't unsafe, I decided to ignore him, instead hiding on the LEFT side of the next cul-de-sac. Sirens blaring, a homeowner came out, so I fled the scene about 2 minutes later, NOT going back to the scene of the "crime." My heart was racing for about a week after, because I just committed a felony. But in the end, I did the absolute most virtuous thing I could. I wasn't unsafe, so I didn't morally deserve to pay for it, even though the law requires that I do.

I'm sure that nearly everyone disapproves, but it doesn't prove that I was unsafe. Likewise, not everyone is being unsafe when they break certain laws. And don't even try the "slippery slope" argument, as if I will gradually get worse and worse. My driving and criminal records are spotless, btw.

Answer
Officers on my department average two warnings for every citation. If an officer is on a stop and in the process of giving a warning and sees something that would warrant a citation, he would certainly abandon the warning in favor of the more dangerous driving that would result in a citation.

As far as your personal history, I suspect your luck is due to change. Especially since refusal to do field sobriety is probable cause for arrest.

As far as your self administered test for BAC, I would certainly be interested on how those tests were performed.

How do you go about buying a car from ebay and not getting scammed?

Tears are

i have a friend who wants to buy a car from ebay but he is afraid of being scammed. How do you go about paying for it without doing it in advance? And seeing the car first then paying? And getting the car? Thanks for the info

Answer
You winning the car is not necessarily a commitment to buy. It depends on the situation. Most reputable sellers are dealers and they will let you bid, then come in for financing and a test drive knowing that it may not work out. If it is an individual selling a vehicle, I would be more skeptical. I would contact them up front and ask if they would let you test drive and take it to your mechanic before paying. Do NOT pay through PayPal as soon as you win and without seeing or driving the vehicle first. Also, you can ask for the VIN number and go to Carfax.com to see what the car's history is. I did this and found that the car I was interested in EBay was a former lease with a clean record. I bid on a brand new Monte Carlo that had only 10,000 miles on it. My max bid was 10,000 and it went for a little over that to another buyer. I was disappointed, but later found that the person who had bought it had paid for it right away only to go pick it up and find that it had dents and body damage. They obviously left negative feedback and I was thankful then that I hadn't won! On the other hand, we know a couple who got a great deal on a van and it worked out great. Just be careful and watch our for scammers on Ebay motors. After the Monte Carlo experience, I got a second chance offer on it that asked me to log into my PayPal account and pay if I still wanted it. I have been a buyer and seller on EBay for years and knew it sounded suspicious. I contacted ebay and they told me it was fraudulent and it was reported. I guess my point it take it slow and don't get too wrapped up in it. Treat it the same way you would if you were looking at cars as usual to buy. Good luck!
