what is the best, most affordable, & quickest way to sell a car?

i want to sell my car, what do u recommend? newspaper ad? $?
internet? $?

Answer
Fastest way is to sell it for under market value. If it's a cheaper car, Craigslist is effective.

How do I get a car registered which has no papers or plates?

John H

I responded to a newspaper ad recently and bought a 1971 vw beetle. The car had no plates and no paperwork that I could find. There were several telltale signs that the car had sat a number of years, but I understood it to be a project. The seller said he had originally bought it at auction with the intent of using its (good) engine for a sand rail dune buggy, but that like many other good plans requires time. Once paid for, I was provided no bill of sale which I feel I was owed. It was as if the seller felt that since he had let the car go very cheap, that he owed no person any more, and if he did, he should've either charged more or wrecked it instead. Like he could have gone to the trouble but would be put out for something extraneous. The seller has a shop in an easy to find location, so it is not as if I cannot find him, and he doesn't appear to be trying to hide, hes just a strangely irritable character. My instinct: not stolen, but i still need help. John

Answer
Do you have a neighbor or friend who is a cop? Have them run an inquiry on the VIN and if there is still a record of who was the last registered owner. If you're lucky you can then contact that person to sign papers for you.

In some states, you can go to the DMV and pay a fee, sign a form, and they will do a search for you.

If not, you're going to have a REAL hard time with this. You may end up scrapping it.

Title did not get transferred in my name in New York state DMV?

car info via reg on HaCk-O-PeDia - The Hacker's Encyclopedia: August 2009
car info via reg image

durbanskie

Hello,

I lost my title from the dealer for the car that I had bought in the state of New York. The dealer is out of business so I can't ask for it, but I do have the bill of sale. I am located in California. I have the car parked at my place, and the ownership of the car is still not in my name so I can not drive it.

How would I be able to transfer the car's title to my name as of right now?
Please, any tips and suggestions would be of great help!
If you have any notes/info I haven't informed you of, please ask so I can note it in the additional notes section.

Thanks!!!

Answer
Bonded title. It can be complicated, but will allow you to register and drive the car. Make sure it will pass the needed inspections though before you spend a whole lot on getting the title. It's going to be further complicated because you don't have a California plate on it I assume. You might want to look into a registration service rather than doing it yourself.

See https://ameribonds.com/surety-bonds/california-registration-service-bonds/

Instructions

1

Make a diligent effort to acquire the evidence of ownership and any supporting documents required by appealing to prior owners or authorities via certified mail. Keep receipts of the certified mail sent in order to document your search efforts to submit to the Department of Motor Vehicles. Allow recipients a minimum of 30 days to respond. If a response is received, do not open the letter.
2

Obtain a Statement of Facts, or REG 256 Form, from an office of the DMV or from the DMV website if the vehicle in question is valued at $4,999 or less, or if the bond is being requested by a dealer, dismantler or registration service. Complete the form, which requires you to certify that you made a diligent effort to acquire evidence of ownership and any validating documents. Attach unopened letters received in response to your request for evidence of ownership or supporting documents and any mail receipts for requests for which you received no response.
3

Obtain a Motor Vehicle Ownership Surety Bond, or REG 5057 Form, from an office of the DMV or from the DMV website, if the vehicle is valued at $5,000 or more, or if the bond is being requested by a dealer, dismantler or registration service. Complete the form, which requires you to provide information about the vehicle, including California license plate number, vehicle identification number and year, make and model of vehicle. Submit to the DMV, along with the REG 256 Form, if required.

My first car was great (I bought it in 1995 and it was a 1987 E-reg in pretty good shape). How do I go about tracking down what has happened to it, and if it has not been scrapped, who now owns it?? I'm in the UK.

Answer
I have not used this but read about it.

Q. -Hybrid cars
-Shrinking forests
-Renewable energy (wind, solar, hydro)
-Fossil fuels
-Polar Ice caps
Which would be most interesting? Are there any other suggestions?
{I can't do Global Warming}

Answer
Interesting! I actually am doing a project like such. I would probably go with renewable energy. I may choose hydro or wind because people may not know as much about it. I think that you want something people can learn from, so I would choose that one.
For info on renewable energy:

http://www.nrel.gov/
(this is the National Renewable Energy Lab. They have lots of info on most topics like such, however some information is quite complicated!)

http://www.eia.doe.gov/kids/energyfacts/sources/renewable/renewable.html
this is an interesting website i found that has illustrated and detailed info on all types of renewable energy. very good when you first start researching!

those are two good websites for starters-
good luck and nice project ideas...
hope it all turns out well!

Q. Unlike most Western societies were female leaders are sparse?

Answer
Bangladesh had 2 women prime minister. Pakistan had one. Lubna Olayan is Saudi's richest women and is one of the most influential businesswomen in the world.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lubna_Olayan).
and do not forget those many govt officials, mayors are females. there are many female ambassador from muslim world:

Tunisia: 1993-? Zeinouba Khomsi Maaref ambassor in Malta
Yemen: 2000-03 Amat Al-Aliâim As-Asooswa, The Netherlands. 2001-03 Ambassador to Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Undersecretary of Information 1991-2000 and Minister of Human Rights from 2003.

Algeria: 2001- Malika Saci, Denmark. Three other women were appointed Ambassadors in 2001.

She was the widow of President Ali Khan, 1973-76 she was governor of the Sindh Province (b. 1905-)

United Arab Emirates:1999 Ambassador Sheika Fatima, Leader of the UAE-delegation to the Funeral of King Hussein of Jordan.

Yes, there are many western women ambassador too, but my point is that there are women in imortant positions in the muslim world too. It may not be as much as in western world, but the western world is skewed with the perception that women are second class citizen in a mulsim world in general.

West and east see each other through filter glasses. they belive each side is the right side and the other is wrong. They generalize what they hear in news and radio and TV.
the east view the west as place where girls get pregant i their teen, binge drink, open their legs to every men, divorce after 2 yrs and fight for alimony and all. father sleep with daughter (the austrian case). they see the western world where women are object of lust, nothing else (any Ad to be succesful needs to have a sexy women in sexy dress-even ad about baby nappies need ot have a sexy mom), women need to reveal their cleavage to be pulled by a man. If she doe snot have curves she is not considered attractive despite being intelligent. for eastern world, this is oppression of women-that women are forced to be sexual to attract men. Western women may protest this comment saying they like to be attractive and sexually inviting on their own choice. fine, then why cannot muslim women not wear hijab on their own choice? how is that oppression.

The west view the eastern world as full of forced marriages, women being oppressed and not allowed to drive cars (Saudi is the only country of 40 odd muslim country that bans women from driving), women do not study (even in Saudi more and more women are going to uni).
Palestinians have the highest per capita PHD rate of all nationalities and increasing number of them are women.

so sadly we see each other through filter glasses, filter which suits us and makes us the righteous one.

About those mocking comments, bhutto go shot, so did many other male leaders. Her father was hanged. Indian primie minster Rajov Gandhi was assasinated. So its nothing to do with being a woman. so if you interpret that Bhutto being shot is sign of muslim intolerance of women, her father was hanged too and her father was a man, not a woman!!!LOL.

Also i would like to point out to the asker of the question that there are leaders in western world too who are women. so your second observation 'Unlike most Western societies were female leaders are sparse?' is not quite correct. but i agree with your first question.

Why increasing traffic fines first and then giving 50% discount?

H

Please read:
http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/traffic-transport/all-emirates-can-allow-discounts-in-traffic-fines-1.649084

Does this make any sense to you? Do you think people will drive more properly knowing that there is a 50% discount on certain traffic fines automatically?

Any inputs?

Answer
What I believe is that AD Police started this as they needed a way to collect the fines from people who would not pay them any time soon, as well as there are many cars with expired registration on the roads due to lack of money to pay the fines and these cars are possible danger on the road since they are not going thru the registration test.

I am sure that this wont last for a long.....so you better pay and make sure you dont make any in future.

What cars could I do a hybrid engine swap?

car info stands on Painting and Coating Workers : Occupational Outlook Handbook : U.S ...

Seth

OK!!! So, for my first car I wanted an import but my dad wanted me to have a good american built car... So the solution I thought of was, why not put an american engine/parts in an import?? I just need to know what cars would work. I will probably be putting a 350 small block or LS1 in, but I need to know what cars will work. I like the toyota supra and similar styles. Thanks!

Answer
Pardon me for not answering the question straight up, but I think that you might want to rethink your plan first. From what I hear, this would be your first car. Therefore, I'm assuming you might not have all that much experience working on cars. A complete engine and transmission swap, including the fabrication of motor and transmission mounts is a very big project.

For my first car, I myself wanted a big project and bought myself a 1988 toyota supra turbo. I was planning on stripping the motor bay down and putting the engine back in, with new seals, gaskets and belts. For the first summer of it, it was all fun, but then it got kind of dissapointing to have fresh driving licence, a car, but that wouldn't run. I did regret starting on such a huge project and gave up on it. I instead bought a new toyota supra, that I could take for a spin.

All that being said, you simply need to realise that it's going to take a long time to do the swap, and you might want to have a car that you can drive (on top of the fact that the Supra is amazing to drive). Now, if your dad wants you to have an american car, maybe he has more experience working on them. And someone to help you out with your project is really something to value. Learning all by yourself takes 3X longer, and you might not get the car running in the end.

You could choose to simply take a car and not do any motor swapping at all, just upgrade the car you have. I know it won't be as special and custom, but you can pick a car that stands out even when stock (the supra does). I personally have put numbers of upgrades onto my car, but the good part is that they are all small projects coming one after the other. This way, the car doesn't stay undriven for a whole summer and I still feel like that the car is unique.

Now, if all that hasn't convinced you, i have seen people put small blocks in quite a few imports. Remember that you will be mixing up imperial and metric mesures in the same car if you do so. Nothing will fit, it's a lot of customisation. However, below are some examples:

**Toyota Supra**
http://www.toyota-supra.info/forums/mkiii-supra/13356-oh-no-he-isnt-oh-yes-i-am.html

**Nissan 300zx**
http://www.motorswaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=67

**Infiniti G35**
http://driftemporium.com/G35TitanV8.htm

For more models, basically type the name of the car you like and V8 in google. Someone has done it.

what is the best way to trace skips in the car business?

elcheco

I am interested to know what is the most effective way to trace down skips who skips their car notes besides the gps device systems, tell me what your experience is in this matter and any and all tips are very welcome. Thanks.
And I mean how I can do it myself, as a finance manager I even have access to credit reports but once they skip the address is not updated therefore the car can not be found and they become a skip.

Answer
Nothing beats the good, old school skip tracing methods. First of all, for any of this to be effective, you must have obtained the proper information from the skip, at the time the loan was originated. Things like former addresses, bank account info, personal references, especially parents or grandparents if available. Of all the information, nothing is as valuable as the personal references. If you can't talk to them by phone, drive to their homes and interview them in person. Send an empty envelope to the last good address, under your return address write "address service requested" this way if there is a forwarding on file, you will get the new address back on the envelope when it is returned. Go to their last know place of employment and ask if anyone knows them. Interview everyone that is willing to speak to you. It is just good old leg work, and phone work that will lead you to the results. I've been doing this for 20 years and it is very rare that anyone can escape my bloodhound instincts. Good luck and happy hunting. Oh, there are skip trace services, and repo companies that do skip tracing too but I have never needed to rely on them. I can't remember the one that stood out the most as I looked at them but their motto was "putting Americans back on their feet"!! I loved it.

Is it short for "carriage"? Or, "cart"? Or, something entirely different?

Answer
You answered your own question....which at Level 6 you should know better. You should know that it's against the TOS to answer your own question.

http://answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guidelines.php

Car is short for Carriage. <-----<<<EDIT: BOY! Was I __WRONG__ there!!! :(

Wiki says this:

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/car#Etymology

I found this, also:

>>>96/09/09 (Monday) Vehicles (5388)

A number of short words now commonly used to denote ordinary vehicles are actually shortened forms of longer words. "Plane", of course, is simply a shortened form of "airplane" and "bus" is a shortened form of "omnibus". "Van" is derived from "caravan" and "cab" comes from "cabriolet", which is a new word for me. According to the dictionary, it is "a two-wheeled, one-horse carriage with two seats and a folding top". "Taxi" is a shortened form of "taxicab", an automobile that carries passengers for a fare, usually calculated by a taximeter. And what do you suppose is the origin of the word "car". No, it does not come from "carriage" but from a Latin word for "chariot", which was a horse drawn, two-wheeled cart, used in ancient times for war, racing or parades.<<<..........

....Which is from:

http://cgi.biwa.ne.jp/~syobo/cgi-bin/open.cgi?numbers=5388

And this:

>>>car
1301, "wheeled vehicle," from Norm.-Fr. carre, from L. carrum, carrus (pl. carra), orig. "two-wheeled Celtic war chariot," from Gaul. karros, from PIE *krsos, from base *kers- "to run." Extension to "automobile" is 1896. Car-sick first recorded 1908, on model of sea sick. U.S. carport is from 1939. Car bomb first 1972, in reference to Northern Ireland. Car pool is 1942 (n.), 1962 (v.). <<<.......

......From: http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?l=c&p=3

According to THIS site:.....

http://www.millville.org/Workshops_f/kess_mech/Kess_Auto/FuInject/carsection1.html

.....there are MANY origins of the word "Car".

Which car is more reliable for daily usage?

*Cherry*

I am planning on purchasing a car for this coming summer. It will be my 2nd car. These are my options....

1) 2007 Nissan 350z
2) 2004 Infiniti G35
3) 2003 Porsche Boxster convertible

My favorite (and the one I am very excited about) is the Porsche.

I want to know which one will be more reliable because I need it to drive to work (45min commute) and to school (1hr commute) I am pretty young also and most people i have asked do not want me to purchase the porsche. I did have to work pretty hard to save up for a nice car so I want to make sure it is reliable :) I am planning on keeping one of these for about 4yrs.

Answer
I would say the Infiniti. But I would also reccomend the G37XS or G37S, as you will get more of the "fun factor" with those. The XS is AWD and GREAT in snow if needed. The reason for my reccomend action is insurance will be a little less pricey, you would be getting a luxury car, and its sporty and very quick.

I am travelling with my wife and son. I have travelled through southeast asia and other third world regions. i love the culture , the food, and the lifestyle. I am looking to travel safely through Goa and the states below and possibly go to the lakshadweep islands . if you have any info on this area please help.

Answer
You can travel by air, road or rail.

There are plenty of airlines doing these routes now and bookings need to be done well in advance to avoid any holiday rush.

Road is another good way to travel (car or bus). There are a lot of privately run Volvo luxury buses which are very comfortable.

Railways is another option and you can travel by the Konkan railway line.

There is no catamaran service at present doing the Bombay - Goa route but some cruise lines offer 15 day packages or shorter (to and fro) on the routes ....departure Bombay or Goa .....and cruise down to the Lakshadweep islands with halts on the way.

If you are halting in Goa and want more info on this state you can contact me.....

Where can I go in San Diego for a day without a car?

Q. I'm 23 and will be flying to San Diego for a day with my younger sister, and rental car companies don't rent to people under 25. So I was wondering which places I can visit from the airport and have time to make it back for my flight. I plan to fly in on early saturday morning/ friday night, and stay till saturday evening when I get my flight back.
I have no family or friends there so I am pretty much looking for stuff to do around the area and places that wont take too long to travel by public transport.
I want to do some photography there so where are the best places?
Are there groups or organisations that would be able to take us around?
And renting a bike would be too tiring.

This is a serious question. Please do not ask "why would you go only for a day?"

Answer
Take the 10 minute bus trip (route 992) from the airport terminal to the Santa Fe Depot train station. From there you can catch the trolley which takes you close to a lot of tourist sites.

Some must see attractions are the world famous Zoo, Sea World, and Balboa Park. Known as the "Smithsonian of the West" Balboa Park is the largest urban cultural park in the country. You can get a park passport which allows you entry to a dozen museums as well as the zoo.
http://www.balboapark.org/info/passport.php

Other attractions in the park are the Air and Space Museum, Ruben H. Fleet Science Center, the Natural History Museum, the Museum of Man, the Automotive Museum, the Old Globe Theatre, the Hall of Champions, the Botanical Gardens, and the largest outdoor pipe organ in the world (free concerts on Sunday).

Take the trolley from Downtown to Old Town. There is a state park there that recreates life in the Mexican and early American periods of 1821 to 1872.

The USS Midway is an aircraft carrier turned into a museum
http://www.midway.org/

The Maritime Museum offers a hands-on look at San Diego's days as a bustling seaport. You can tour the Star of India, the world's oldest active merchant sailing ship.

Seaport Village is on the harbor and has some interesting shops as well as a great view of the ships on the harbor. Kansas City Barbeque is located at the Seaport Village trolley stop. Best BBQ in town, inexpensive, and it's where they filmed the bar scene in Top Gun. Plenty of interesting memorabilia on the walls and it also has outside dining.

For nightlife, the Gaslamp Quarter offers dining, drinking and dancing. It's also the home of Petco Park and the San Diego Padres major league baseball team.

Answer
NEVER take supplements without your doctor's OK.

For India: http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2013-06-19/ludhiana/40069479_1_hair-loss-hair-fall-treatment-trichology OR http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2013-07-11/health/40513861_1_hair-loss-diabetes-capital-international-diabetes-federation

Biotin alone is not going to do that for your hair, that's like have a car and not use gas. You need all the healthy foods from Mother Nature, not just biotin. Do you know what's in the biotin?
Biotin - cauliflower, liver, salmon, carrots, bananas, cereals, yeast, and soy flour. Keep in mind that biotin content is reduced when food is cooked or preserved. One YA poster caused her to have major breakouts from supplements. Another poster said: "
i took biotin to grow my hair out, and it ended up falling out too!! it was worse around my bang area, like where you part it, there waas a huge patch of hair missing so i had to move my part for 5 months!" Another example, one taking Biotin & Zinc: "I have taken Biotin ( 300mcg ), Zinc (15mg) and Folic Acid(800mcg) and I realised my breast have gotten really sore, I didn't know what the reason was, but then I realised that I have been taken vitamins."

HEAT & CHEMICALS are hair's worst enemies. You have any of those on your hair?

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.

NO MATTER which link you picked, they all suggest the same foods. Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

"You find people oiling hair every single day, the hair sweats and it doesnât get washed. What do you think happens? It goes limp and becomes thin because it is not breathing,â Shamillah Mohammed, a hairstylist at SUQA, says.

Who's excited about doubling energy prices in the name of a vague environmental benefit that can't be measured?

Answer
Ignor-anuses are excited about it...crafting trillion dollar legislation based upon a hypothesis...brilliant. It's nothing more than an energy tax -- more money to spend for those in charge.

I sent an e-mail to my Rep. who voted YEA today that might make her a little uncomfortable...complete moron.

I found this a refreshing clip about Conservatives and Liberal philosophies...maybe you will too?:

Edit:
Quan -- ask and you shall receive...testimony given by Ben Lieberman this morning:
"The only entities directly regulated by Waxman-Markey would be the electric utilities, oil refiners, natural gas producers, and some manufacturers that produce energy on site. So, the good news for the rest of us--homeowners, car owners, small-business owners, farmers--is that we won't be directly regulated under this bill. The bad news is that nearly all the costs will get passed on to us anyway.

What are those costs? According to the analysis we conducted at The Heritage Foundation, which is attached to my written statement, the higher energy costs kick in as soon as the bill's provisions take effect in 2012. For a household of four, energy costs go up $436 that year, and they eventually reach $1,241 in 2035 and average $829 annually over that span. Electricity costs go up 90 percent by 2035, gasoline by 58 percent, and natural gas by 55 percent by 2035. The cumulative higher energy costs for a family of four by then will be nearly $20,000.

But direct energy costs are only part of the consumer impact. Nearly everything goes up, since higher energy costs raise production costs. If you look at the total cost of Waxman-Markey, it works out to an average of $2,979 annually from 2012-2035 for a household of four. By 2035 alone, the total cost is over $4,600.

Beyond the cost impact on individuals and households, Waxman-Markey also affects employment, and especially employment in the manufacturing sector. We estimate job losses averaging 1,145,000 at any given time from 2012-2035. And note that those are net job losses, after the much-hyped green jobs are taken into account. Some of the lost jobs will be destroyed entirely, while others will be outsourced to nations like China and India that have repeatedly stated that they'll never hamper their own economic growth with energy-cost boosting global warming measures like Waxman-Markey.

Since farming is energy intensive, that sector will be particularly hard-hit. Higher gasoline and diesel fuel costs, higher electricity costs, and higher natural gas-derived fertilizer costs all erode farm profits, which are expected to drop by 28 percent in 2012 and average 57 percent lower through 2035. As with American manufacturers, Waxman-Markey also puts American farmers at a global disadvantage, as other food-exporting nations would have no comparable energy-price raising measures in place.

Overall, Waxman-Markey reduces gross domestic product by an average of $393 billion annually between 2012 and 2035, and cumulatively by $9.4 trillion. In other words, the nation will be $9.4 trillion poorer with Waxman-Markey than without it."

Edit:
Bash - "The non-partisan CBO and EPA disagree with you."

The non-partisan CBO clearly identifies that the middle/upper-middle classes will pay for it explicitly -- and when costs of consumer products rise, so will the lower class: Last Page - NET COSTS - middle & fourth quartile...ouch.

Consequently, who do you think pays for this "relief" that nobody seems to be talking about...?

"The Distribution of Direct Relief to Households
About 31 percent of the allowance value would be allocated in a fairly direct
manner to U. S. households to compensate them for their increased expenditures
(see Table 1). Some of that relief is expected to be allocated across most
households in the form of a rebate on their bills for heating and cooling their
homes. Other relief would be directed at low-income households in the form of an
energy rebate or a tax credit. By CBOâs estimates, 25 percent of the direct relief
to households would go to households in the lowest income quintile and
50 percent to households in the two lowest quintiles combined. On average, the
amount of direct relief would offset 94 percent of the additional expenses that
households in the lowest quintile incurred. In contrast, the direct relief received by
households in the highest quintile would offset only 18 percent of their added
costs."

Edit:
Quan -- did you even read the CBO report? Did you recognize who takes the brunt of the burden?

Not sure about you but my family owns a farm and these "relief" allowances provide about $3/acre while our costs due directly to Cap & Trade increase anywhere b/n $75-$80/acre. Who do you think gets to pay for that $72-$77 shortfall? It won't be us...

"Net Costs and Benefits
Taking account of householdsâ share of the gross compliance cost and resource
costs and the relief that would flow to households either through direct rebates
and transfers or indirectly through the allocation of allowances, CBO estimates
that households in the lowest income quintile would see an average net benefit
of about $40, while households in the highest income quintile would
see a net cost of approximately $245 (see Table 2). Households in the second
lowest quintile would see added costs of about $40 on average, those in the
middle quintile would see an increase in costs of about $235, and those in
the fourth quintile would pay about an additional $340 per year. Overall, costs for
households would average 0.2 percent of their average after-tax income."

Why is a British energy firm trying to kill the electric car.?

By proposing that electric cars be taxed and that the electric cost for the cars should be the same as gas.

Answer
Thanks for a very thought provoking post. It makes me think about when there were few diesel automobiles and diesel fuel was far less expensive then gasoline. Then entered the law of supply and demand with increasing numbers of diesel automobiles and small trucks. Although it is less costly to produce diesel - less refinement - diesel is now more expensive than gasoline in the US due to increased demand. Despite the hardships the increased diesel costs inflicted on the trucking industry and the resulting rise in cost of all goods dependent on transportation, the price went up. It seems to me that if electric cars get popular, the price of electricity will rise due to more demand, placing a burden on everyone who uses electricity. If this happens, we may be searching for an alternative to power all our industrialized gadgets - or a way to do without so many industrialized gadgets, which I am in the process of doing.

Answer
you could always get pet guards for your car. they normally stop your dogs jumping out of car
while you leave the windows open for fresh air.
However I don't see why the wouldn't stop cats getting in.
you must be a very trusting person as I'd never leave my car open when untended. and you'll find that if it's stolen and your insurance finds out you leave the windows open the wont pay you.
My friend left her car unlocked while she went into a news agents and had the car stolen £52,000 uk
she never got a penny for it!! so be careful what you wish for!!!

How do I get more exposure for my website?

Victoria

How/where/what can I do to get the most exposure for my type of website online with minimum to zero cost? I already tried Google Adwords, Facebook Ads, fliers, advertise on hat, shirt, car, and my social media accounts and going broke. Iâm not asking about SEO. Iâm working on that already.

My website is http://mistakesinlife.net

Thanks for answering!

Answer
Here are some shoestring marketing ideas that can help you get the visitors you need at the least cost possible:

1. Create the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement - if visitors love your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.

2. Use social media. Twitter, Facebook, Stumbleupon, LinkedIn, Reddit, Digg and others can be a big source of traffic for your business. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Viral marketing is very important -- and easy to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools.

AddThis http://www.addthis.com

3. Rank well in the search engines (organic search results, not the pay per click). SEs can be a big source of traffic. The key is to create the best content in your niche. If you have good content, other websites will gladly link to you and offer your site as a resource to their audience. Check the on-page factors and be sure to get linked from authority sites in your topic area.

Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com's "Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day." http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm

4. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.

5. Submit articles. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.

Here is a comprehensive list of where to submit your articles http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=1006022407481

6. Post a link to your site for free where it is allowed (always read the Terms of Use). Examples are:

How can you make a custom turbo or use superchargers from salvage vehicles?

Fausto

I read in the internet some time ago that you can use the turbos or superchargers from salvaged vehicles to fit in to your car(mine is a '91 integra),but now I cant find the web site anywhere. Honda Tunning Magazine had an article some time ago,but it never gave any details how, what parts, or where? plus never returned my emails (wonder why?) Since I cant afford to misletoe my rear pocket and pay $3000 in shop and aftermarket parts, i would love to make one my self, I like to go to yunk yards, I keep running into Volvos and Mecedes Bens and Mini Coopers S with parts available starting at $100, It would be a great project!!! Please Yahoo questions PIMP MY RIDE!!!!

Answer
The good news is that my friend did this around 8 years back. So I know everything he did on this...even the mistakes he made.

Basically he went around to salvage yard and picked up a turbo from the Buicks. He usually picked them up for $100-$350. He actually owned his own muffler/radiator shop so this was easy for him. Basically he weld a flange onto the headers and then he custom made the pipes that went from the turbo into the intercooler. From there he custom made some more pipes from the intercooler to the throttle body. He actually made his own intercooler by getting an intercooler core and then chopping a 3 1/2 inch tube in half and used each half for the endtanks for the intercooler. He then sealed up the bottom and top with some sheet metal. He then cust a 3 inch hole on the endtanks and welded a 3 inch diameter pipe to each side. Honestly it didn't look all that great, so I would recommend buying an inexpensive intercooler for around $200-$300. This will save you time, however you will be spending around $100 more by pre buying a build intercooler. But bascially it is that simple to mount a turbo onto your application.

Now the problem he had when doing this was he did nothing in regards to his tuning. He shorly blew his engine and had to get it rebuilt.

Later on down the road he purchased larger injectors a larger fuel pump, and he got it all custom tune by using a hondata system. As you can see this is going to be the expensive part where it cost him around a $1,000.

A cheap alternative is to run larger fuel injectors with a larger pump and use a FMU. You can save around $600.00 by going in this direction. It will not work as well as a custom tune Hondata (chip), however it will work perfectly you will not have to worry about blowing your engine. Using and FMU instead of a chip will save you money.

Basically that was a run down of what he did. Here is a list of parts you will need.

*Turbo compressor
*Headers made for turbo
*Intercooler
*Wastegate
*Pipes
*Sleeves to connect pipes
*Blow Off Valve
*Boost controller (optional)
*turbo Timer (optional)
*oil feed and oil lines
*fuel injectors
*fuel pump
*FMU or Chip (hondata, EMS...Etc.)

So basically those are most of the items you will need. I might have left some stuff out however those should be the most important parts. As you can see it still will end up costing a lot. You are still looking around $1500-$2000 for a setup that will not blow your engine.

I will suggest that you buy are look at a book written from "Corky Bell" the book is called "turbocharged" It bascially tells you how to make your own turbo system. He also has a book called "supercharged" which explains how to make a supercharger setup.

I would explain how to make a supercharger system however this direction will be a little more difficult since you have to make brackets and other stuff. The turbo is the easier way to go.

Do You Think Most of the News Being Told From a White Perspective is Dangerous?

car ownership news on In The News , Transportation News
car ownership news image

HUEmans ar

There are hardly any news programs in the U.S. on tv or cable stations that are owned and operated by non-Whites.

Why do Whites feel the need to control the interpretation of world and national events for everybody? Is this monopolizing of communication channels dangerous ?

Answer
The monopolization of the airwaves is to make sure White Supremacy/Racism continues and those oppressed do not have an effective voice to communicate with others about their experiences from their point of view.

The 'corporate not racist' argument is a silly one when you acknowledge the reality that America's treatment of Black people, in particular, has been an economic one as well as a social one. It made the Black community the ONLY community in capitalistic America that was prevented from using their own labor to build capital for 200 years (via enslavement and Jim Crow). No other group went through 200 years of that in the United States' democratic and capitalistic society.

Whites have used that long-standing American injustice to build this monopoly on the media. Even 'corrective' actions (Affirmative Action) has been used to further benefit the White community (via White women and White gays, the former being the biggest beneficiaries of Affirmative Action).

Anyone who tries to 'unconnect' race from economics is either ignorant or, if he/she knows better, deceptive.

In addition, 90% of the networks/cable/broadcast are owned by a White person and geared toward White Americans for 'entertainment'. They don't have to worry about coming home and trying to find a news station or tv show that's giving a White perspective on events and situations, even when it's coming to them from the occassional "minority" face. So they don't need to label a channel "WET". "BET" is used to differentiate its 'content' and target audience from the WET channels. So, a logical person would ask, why would a group pick a channel and label it "WET" when more than 90% of the channels are WET??? Many White people will usually use semantics to avoid a hypocritical, racist reality of what is before us. Wasn't it Shakespeare that said "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet..."? Well, that saying was about semantics and many Whites tend to use semantics when discussing racial matters. We can use that Shakepeare take on semantics to recognize that just because a station is named "TNT" or "TCM" or "IFC" or "WB", doesn't mean it's not a WET. Come, come now.

Anyway, when Black Americans are able to build capital (after such a harrowing American economic start), we know that they face racism in their ability to buy from those in control of the monopoly. And that goes across the board, whether it's a house in a certain neighborhood or a t.v./cable station. Also they face racism on WHAT they are able to buy from those in control of the monopoly. It has been shown that Blacks can obtain a loan for a car easier than we can obtain a loan for a house or business. Media is very important and you'll find the same sort of 'selective' selling and ease operating within that area. Blacks looking to buy music radio stations will have an easier time than those looking to buy talk radio ones. Those looking to buy stations that show nothing but silly videos may have an easier time attempting to buy a station with that sort of 'format' plan than those who are looking to buy a station that delivers news and dramas. Even in the former case, Blacks are finding it difficult to buy and maintain ownership of such stations. This goes back to the lack of capitial we were FORCED to operate with in comparison to White America and the disparity in business-ownership (AKA sponsors) it would've produced from the community, BTW, BET is now owned by Whites.

We know that there are Whites with lower incomes than Blacks who face less difficulty establishing bank accouints, getting loans, buying houses in certain areas, etc etc. So contrary to popular opinion, the color green does not override the consideration of race when it comes to Whites and relinquishing any ill-gotten gains and/or monopoly on media. Green is not the issue, race is. And although it may not 'hurt' a White person to pretend otherwise, it definitely hurts any Black person to do so.

Good news is that we can change our viewing and shopping habits to reflect our disgust with this White monopoly of the media and with the inappropriate behavior of some brain-washed Blacks who choose to act as co-horts in behavior that hurts the Black community.

As far as other groups and their issues with Whites and monopolies, they can speak for themselves. They should address this issue in whatever way it has affected their groups.

As far as Black people though, if you want to learn more about why this problem exists and some solutions we can employ to make things better, read this newsletter:

BET Sold to Viacom article in this back issue:
http://www.harvestinstitute.org/final-harvest_news2001_no.1.pdf

And read the other newsletters there. Very informative.

I gave that link to an African man who I talk to alot. He didn't quite understand how slavery and jim crow affected Black America's wealth and 'opportunities' until he read that. And I like that he forwared it (and cc'd me a copy of the forward) to others in his country so they would have a better understanding of America's real 'economic' structure and how it affects race, ownership of things and the transference of community wealth from one generation to the next.

And to answer your question: Yes. White Supremacy/Racism is DANGEROUS in all of its forms, including the control of media.

When should I buy a new hybrid car?

Jordan H

I am in the market to buy a new car in the up coming year or two. I want a hyprid becuase of the gas milage ect... I don't really want a super small car Honda insight or Toyota Prius more of a standard size, unless it will get wicked good gas milage. Does anyone know if there will be any new hybrids coming out within the next year or so that I should look for?

Answer
Unfortunately, most manufacturers so not announce their upcoming hybrid release plans. Not all hybrids are created alike (some are more geared towards performance (acceleration and available power) than to fuel economy), and some have more hybrid features than others (full hybrid vs. mild hybrid). So, just because it says hybrid doesn't mean that it has "wicked good gas mileage."

So, you would be best to find the best fuel economy vehicle in the vehicle class that you are looking at. For your choices in the US, I'd suggest:
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/
http://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/

I'm not entirely sure what size of vehicle that you are looking for. The Honda Insight was discontinued in the 2006 model year, so you'll only find that 2-seater in the used market. Meanwhile, the Toyota Prius is currently a midsize hatchback, which is the same size class as the popular Toyota Camry, or Nissan Altima, or Chevy Malibu, or Saturn Aura (all of which also have hybrid versions available) or the also popular Honda Accord (which had a performance-tuned hybrid option available in the past, but is now discontinued and only available used). In fact, of the currently available hybrid vehicles in the US for the 2008 model year, the only ones that are smaller than a Toyota Prius are the compact-sized Honda Civic Hybrid and the Lexus GS450h.

If you are planning on the US Federal income tax credit for your hybrid purchase, the sooner you purchase, the better, as there is a sunset phaseout provision set for after a manufacturer has sold a certain number of hybrids. The Toyota/Lexus credits have passed this sunset already (so no more credits), and Honda is currently in the phaseout period...

Hybrids do cost less in the long term than their conventional counterparts. (Intellichoice used a 5 year ownership comparison in 2006) See http://www.intellichoice.com/press/Hybrid-Survey-2006 and http://www.intellichoice.com/carBuying101/HypeOverHybrids )

While Consumer Reports in 2006 only found the Toyota Prius and the Honda Civic Hybrid would pay off within the same 5 year frame. The Honda Accord Hybrid, the Ford Escape Hybrid, the Lexus RX400h, and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid were also studied. (I'll note that there was a mathematical error in the initial publication of Consumer Reports' hybrid vehicle cost analysis, which a retraction was published later... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11637968/ ) Since this publication, many more hybrid models have become available, so I can't use this to say about hybrids "in general." However, in the US, the Toyota hybrids have sold so many that they no longer qualify for the US Federal hybrid vehicle income tax credit, but Honda and others still have theirs.

Check out the April issue of Consumer Reports if you want reliability information. Here are their top picks for both new and used vehicles:

Announced hybrids to keep an eye out for are the upcoming plug-in hybrids due out in 2010, a plug-in capable version of the Toyota Prius and the new Chevy Volt.

The hybrid batteries are typically placed behind the rear seat/above the rear axle, and are not prone to damage in a vehicular accident. (Nor is it easy to cut the bright orange HV cables that run under the car, either.) The hybrid battery is disconnected from the rest of the car when the vehicle is off (SOP for first responders is to turn off/remove key to disable vehicle in an accident) and also when the air bags are deployed. Only a poorly-trained emergency department will not approach your vehicle in an accident. (Emergency Responder guides are available from all hybrid manufacturers for free, and most manufacturers also provide free training sessions when asked.)

The hybrid batteries are warrantied (Full, not pro-rated) for at least 8 years/80,000 miles or longer, depending on manufacturer, out to 10 years/150,000 miles if an AT-PZEV model in a CA emissions state.

car info from license plate image
Q. I need to get just the name of the car owner of the vehicle with license plate DMZ5703. New York License plate.

I know some sites can give you info for a price, but most are too pricey for me. Can anyone help me out with this? Maybe if you already have an account for people's records?

Answer
Those sites are a scam, unless your in law enforcement or employed by a government agency such as the DMV you can't get that information, anyone in law enforcement or employed by the government that passes that information to someone not authorized will be subject to prosecution and lose there job,

Can someone call the cops if the only thing they probably got is your license plate?

What would be a good and simple investment?

lazarus336

I was in a scooter accident and also another car accident (both at the other persons fault) and I am about to come into a lump sum of money. What would be a good way to take that money and keep it flowing. A friend of mines told me you can buy parking meters in downtown areas or buy vending machines....these both seem slow and time consuming so thats why im looking for another venture. What are some other ideas?

Answer
You should invest it according to your financial situation, risk tolerance, and time horizon.
You didn't give any info on that, so you need to think it out yourself.

Try reading Investing For Dummies or The Complete Idiot's Guide to Investing. You can probably find them in your local library. Before doing anything, make sure you have enough in savings in case things go south for at least 6 months.

How do I start finding clients as an graphic designer..?

hanna

I have bought 2 programs, Photoshop and Illustrator (big investment to me) and I am talented and a fast learner ( I have years of doing graphic work at school). Now how do I start finding clientele? Should I make up a dummy portfolio? Any thoughts? Thanks!

Answer
Yes, you do need a portfolio, but you also need to know how long it takes you to create certain things so you can quote jobs.

Start by giving yourself "assignments," as if you had customers. Keep a time sheet on each project, like you would for any client. Use the finished pieces for your portfolio.

Design your portfolio to appeal to the kind of customer you want to approach. Most of my customers when I first started were small businesses and hospitals, so my portfolio reflected the types of things that they actually needed... logos, business cards, letterheads, brochures, newspaper and magazine advertisements, in-store signs, 8 1/2 x 11 handouts. Have a small, very professional book form portfolio, no bigger than 11x14 inches (so it can open on a counter or desk easily) and only your very best 8 or 10 pieces (or campaigns) backed on black and in plastic sleeves. You can make up a second, more extensive portfolio (carry in your car in case), or a website to show more work, but most clients are too busy to flip through 30 or 40 pieces.

It is good to have a few real, published pieces to show clients. Get in contact with a couple of non-profit organizations and offer to do a piece for free. Don't take on a project way beyond your abilities, because you want to do a good job and be able to use those non-profits as references.

When you have your portfolio ready, have YOUR promotional pieces ready (don't forget your own business cards and brochure), know about how long it will take to do certain projects, and know what you will charge hourly, then get out the yellow pages. Make a list (I used 3x5 index cards) of businesses to approach, and call each one. Ask for the name of the manager (or marketing director or publicity manager, if a larger business) so you can call that person by name. Introduce yourself and ask for an appointment to see them to discuss their advertising needs. Most will say "no." Don't sweat it. Just write all the info about the call on your list (or card) and send them an upbeat postcard to remind them who you are.

I think the trick is to always seem interested in what they need, not act like you desperately need the work. Stay friendly and cheerful, no matter what they say. I have had people who said "no" call me months later to have work done.

Another source of clients are the people who actually have client work to do but don't have the talent or time to do the entire job. I got alot of work from print shops without in-house designers by just dropping in, introducing myself to the manager, and leaving a bunch of my business cards. I would promise to have any work they sent my way printed at their shop. So, think about the ad agencies, photographers, or other businesses who can use someone with photoshop and illustrator skills from time to time.

Carry your business cards with you at all times. Hand them out whenever anyone asks "What do you do for a living?" Let your friends and relatives, everyone you meet that you are a professional designer. The word will get around.

Good luck! It may take six months or a year to get really rolling, but don't give up.

More details on these Lambo concepts?

Sam

Miura concept
Zagato Raptor
Cala
Estoque
Urus

Just want to know HP, if they are coming out, approximate release date, 0-60, etc.

Thanks!

Answer
miura concept is a non functioning car made to celebrate history. it has a lot of murcielago parts and possibly even its engine so if it ever did work it could have close to 600 horsepower.

the zagato raptor concept used a diablo base having 492 horsepower. it was meant to bridge the gap between the diablo and its non existant replacement. the concept was auctioned off at the geneva car show in 2000.

the cala was designed by italian design company italdesign. it was meant to fill the gap of the jalpa. it never came out and instead was replaced with the gallardo 3 years later. it had a 400 hp v10 and featured on the second need for speed game

(as you can see, lamborghini skipped out on a supercar and a hypercar generation between the diablo and jalpa to the gallardo and murcielago)

the lamborghini estoque was a prototype to see audience response to a 4 passenger GT lamborghini. news of production plans being stopped arrived in 2009 and since then lamborghini has scrapped the 4 door GT idea. it housed a 5.2L v10 (from the gallardo possibly downtuned to improved reliability and comfort) so it might have had close to 500 hp.

the urus was designed to restart the lamborghini SUV line (ended with the LM002). designed to compete with the porsche cayenne. it will feature a 584 hp turbo v8 engine from audi. and out of all of those cars mentioned it is the most likely to come out. the lamborghini CEO has mentioned that potential sales are close to 3000 units per year making it higher than the gallardo numbers.

performance numbers for all these cars are quite difficult to find since those are reserved to models being sold, approximate release date for the Urus is said to be close to 2017 (from autoguide.com) all others are not going to be released ever.

another thing to look forward to is the release of the replacement of the gallardo. being an old car it is no longer competitive with the new ferrari 458 italia and mclaren mp4-12c. with the current push for hybrid powerplants there is a great possibility that audi's logic will kick in again and make it a hybrid supercar (while people dislike hybrids for speed, they fail to realize that electric motors have instant response and can give off 100% of their available torque from a standstill making a car incredibly responsive as well as fuel efficient when you dont want to go fast. ferrari, porsche and mclaren are all working on hybrid hypercars and acura is making a hybrid supercar the nsx)

This is the problem with the two party system. You get that many people on either side. At least a few will be total tools and you get lumped in with them.

Answer
Most minorities are incapable of making raciest statements according to most of them. After all since most well to do people that make it on their own they usually don't have time to think about race at all. Usually a well versed Minority spokesman is a lot of the time bigoted and will always call out a Caucasian on any out of color comment. It not really the race agenda it's who has done the most for me. The News media is very vindicitive on Conservatives. No question most of the media are out to get ratings and as of now calling Republicans anything or Conservatives anything is cool, but it proves how stupid the press really is, after all they fuel 90% of all Bigotry comments.
