I'm in the market. Where are some places to look for used cars? What do I need to check out on the vehicle when I test drive it? How do I politely haggle over the price? Any tips and suggestions are appreciated. :D Thanks!
P.S. I've got about $4000 to spend. I'd rather buy outright but I'm not opposed to financing.

Answer
Good reliable vehicles, under $5,000 are hard to find, but they ARE out there.
Searching for them, and researching them, is a bit time consuming but a little time spent researching is well worth it in the long run.

The vehicles in this price range are likely to be older and/or have higher miles on them. Most lenders (banks) won't finance a vehicle with over 100,000 miles on it so try to find one with less miles.
Also most lenders will not finance smaller balances these days. The average lender will finance no LESS than $7500. But there are always exceptions.

Even higher mileage used cars can be a good value if they have been maintained well.

The internet is your friend for researching, but NEVER buy a vehicle (or even commit to buying one) BEFORE having it thoroughly inspected.

Samarins has some good tips on what to look for when inspecting a used vehicle:
http://www.samarins.com/check/index.html

And so does Edmonds:
http://www.edmunds.com/advice/buying/articles/160166/article.html

Car "Histories" are $old by companies like Carfax ( http://www.carfax.com/ )and Autocheck (http://www.autocheck.com/?siteID=0&WT.mc_id=0 ). But they also give up "some" (limited but valuable) info for free.
(hint: from the carfax site.. scroll down to the bottom and see some of the info that is public "free" info)

I always recommend buying (even a used car) from a reputable NEW car dealer.
Why? Because a new car dealer has their reputation to protect. (too many complaints against them can make them lose their new vehicle franchise agreements). They always get trade-ins and if a car isn't worthy of their lot... it gets shipped off to auctions or sold to the wholesalers, salvagers, and the little used car lots.
If a trade in is worthy .. and has some good life left to it, a new car dealer has the facilities and the wherewithal to spruce it up and do any reconditioning, maintenance, and repairs BEFORE you buy it.
It's a good idea to befriend a trusted salesperson too. Even if they don't have "just the right car" at the moment... the car of your dreams could get traded in 10 minutes after you leave the lot, so get to know a few good salespeople that can keep their eye out for the right vehicle for you.

Buying from a private party can be tricky too. You'll be handing over your cash to a perfect stranger and that stranger has no obligations to you after they take your money. Same goes for the little used car lots ( like the ones that buy the beater cars that the reputable new car dealers wouldn't put on their lot) They can disappear in a heartbeat, and anything that goes wrong, including the proper documentation for licensing and titling, could get hung up in "red tape snafus" forever.

You can get some ideas as to what is a good value by doing some research on the vehicle (at sites like KBB.com )
Remember that KBB (Kelly Blue Book) does not buy nor sell vehicles.. they just collect data as to what vehicles LIKE the one you are researching are selling for (on an average) and they post the data.

How to avoid paying too much repair cost for my old car?

justice_ba

I drive 2000 Chevy Impala, which has several minor problems. I want to take it to a Chevy dealer for a check-up and fix somewhat major problems only. The thing is the car is only worth a few grand, so I don't want to end up spending more than the value of the car to fix it. After all, I'm only going to drive it for a few more years.
How can I avoid unnecessary repairs and reduce repair cost?

Answer
Well first of all How many miles are on it . Also what some of the major problems are you having with it.
There are other options you can take to repair your car. Dealers are incredulously expensive when it come to repairs. And they are not about taking care of the customer.
Do you know of any auto repair shops around you that are reputable, if so Talk to the person in charge ask what type of cars they specialize in. Or what certification there Techs Have. You looking for someone who has a back ground In later GM cars and more than just 7 years of exsperiance.
I could help you more if I had more info about you car. Like the manufacture date make model size of engine and type of transmission. The amount of millage and what the history of it like what you had repaired on it in the pass. What repairs are you exspecting know. Contact me at mck3sams@yahoo.com

Wanna move to Sydney. how is it?

car news perth on Limited edition Falcon GT most powerful police car ever | Perth Now

I am from perth and get sick of it. I am moving to Sydney and also get a new job. how is sydney? i heard it's very beautiful harbour. I visited New york and London and loved it. so i think Sydney is like that big city. Any suggestion?

Answer
I moved to from Perth to Sydney for work several years ago now. This is what I found:

What's cool:

1. Amazing multicultural eating out. There are whole suburbs in Sydney that have places to eat that specialise in particular cuisines. Most of them you can get right down the street from where you live.

2. Yes the Harbour is great. I love cycling into the city (I'm in the upper north shore) on a lazy sunday afternoon and finishing up with tea and cake at some little patisserie in the Rocks (and visiting the rocks sunday markets while I am there). Watching the ferries come into circular quay late in the afternoon is so relaxing.

3. There is always something going in Sydney. The place never seems to shut down. Perth is a ghost town by about 5pm. Here you can go grocery shopping almost to midnight at your local mall on weekday (and almost as late on weekends). If there's not some big show on, there's a parade or some huge event somewhere in the city. You just never get bored.

4. Public transport isn't that bad if you take the trains. Just don't plan for them to be there exactly on time. they go so often it doesn't really matter that much. Sydney buses are a bit disjointed, Perth has a way better system but Sydney train network gets you most places you want to go anyhow.

5. Everything is just available. No need to order anything nice from the eastern states, chances are if its made in Australia its easily available from most places in Sydney. At worst they will have it to your door within 24 hours and not a week.

What's not so cool:

1. Big cities have big city problems. Get to know the area you are moving to and find out what nearby areas are safe to hang out in and which aren't. You will be safer in the suburbs than you will in the inner city areas after dark. You will need to be much more aware of what is going on around you as you kgo about your business. Personal security will be much more important to you there.

2. Traffic is horrendous day and night. That's comes with the territory. There are tollways everywhere you look. Say goodbye to the excellent road and cycling/pedestrian networks that you were used to in Perth. Sydney is a nightmare to get around in the car. The place is a real rabbit warren. I strongly suggest you invest in a car or handheld GPS unit (many mobile phones have them built in). If a road has a pothole in it, its probably been that way for over a decade.

3. The pace is fast and people have far less patience than you will be used to. Most are just trying to get from A to B or do what they have to do. So that typical Sydney "get outta my way" attitude prevails everywhere. Many people are pretty cool, but you will easily notice the ones that either ignore you or are intentionally unhelpful (especially those in the public service or service industries). Watch out on the roads, Sydney drivers are maniacs, many seem to have gotten their licence in some remote third world country, because road rules and indicating are alien to them.

4. Everything is much more expensive here. The rents are astronomical. The grocery bill looks more like the electricity bill. The good news, your pay (after basic bills) will be more to compensate for that. Cash in hand you should be about the same (unless the move is a promotion). Fares for public transport will be 5 times more than you were used to paying in Perth for 1/3rd the service improvement.

5. The climate in winter is a lot lot colder. Invest in a good Heating unit while you can. Don't forget to rug up in August/October. The temperature is slightly warmer, but the windchill will rip straight through to your bones. Sydney summers are mild compared to Perth's scorchers.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!! ITS ABOUT NEW CAR LAW?

hi i was wondering if their is any way that i can drive a Nissan 350z on my P's??
i am a responsible driver and not a hoon, i really like the car and its exactly what i want to drive. Dont tell me about how my insurance is going to be high because my Parents are paying for the insurance and i am going to be a designated driver. (and im not rich either i have been working very hard for this car, so this news is heartbreaking)

I live in Victoria, so can i go to Sydney/Perth or something that allows me to get a exception???
Is their ANYTHING i can do????????? i really want to drive this car.

Answer
No sorry mate. The 350Z is listed as a high performance vehicle and is subject to the ban. I found a search engine on the Vic Roads website that you can use to find another car though. In fact the only way you can be exempt is if your boss owns the car and he needs you to drive it for a work purpose like deliveries etc. Here's the link:

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/exeres/2CCDA928-0B07-404D-B6A5-F14AC2356E20.htm

Just click on the "agree to the terms and conditions" part and it'll take you to the search engine.

It's a pity you can't have that car but I'm glad to see you moved away from that Eos idea...

How is the maintainence and repairs on a Prius?

It is expensive, is it difficult to locate a mechanic, and battery life?

Answer
Hi,

lots of misinformation out there, so let's clarify things a bit...

short answer...

It costs a little less than .11 per mile to maintain a Prius, including gas at $3.50 a gallon. Full details and every maintenance point are broken down below.

Any mechanic that you trust can change the oil and oil and air filters on the internal combustion engine (ICE) and rotate the tires. You could do it easily change the engine and cabin air filters yourself, if you're not going to take it to a dealership. Just keep your receipts.

There is no regular transmission, so there is no fluid there to change in the sealed power split device until 90,000 miles.

Beyond that, there is nothing changed or maintained as far as the electric portions of the hybrid system are concerned, it's self-regulating and self-adjusting.

There has yet to be a person who has paid for a nickel metal hydride (NiMH) hybrid to be replaced due to defects or failure.

There have been NiMH replaced due to accidents or owner abuse or attempted modification (one guy drilled a screw into his NiMH stack trying to install a big sub-woofer in the back).

Anything else you've seen or heard is a myth. Common sense says if these things were failing, it would be all over the news. The Prius have been in the US since 2000, eight, almost nine, years, and in Japan for the last ten, almost eleven, years.

full answer (and it's a lot, so stay with me)...

Let me break down the cost of operation for a Prius and compare that to what is honestly spent on any other vehicle.

The cost of operation of a Prius is a little less than .11 cents per mile for each 100,000 miles of operation. I don't add in insurance, bank interest, or the cost of the vehicle itself, because all of those can vary based on each owner's situation. Add them to the .11 cents per mile amount.

A Prius will maintain 51-53 average if driven properly.

This means doubling your usual stopping distance and taking your foot off the accelerator at that double distance to shut down the ICE sooner when coming to a stop and then pressing the brake at your normal stopping distance gently to the stop.

Accelerate like there is a egg under the accelerator pedal and you're trying to roll the egg out, not make omelets. In other words, driving defensively and learning to get the most out of the hybrid drivetrain.

As far as the cost to operate a Prius over 100,000 miles:

- There is no steering belt or steering pump, the system is electronic and uses electric motors. There is no belt to wear and no pump to lose fluid out of (ever hear a car squeal when it goes around a corner? that's the belt or pump going bad) No cost there.

- There is no accelerator cable or cable linkage, once again, it is electronic. So there is no loss of acceleration over time from cable stretch and wear like on a standard vehicle. No cost there.

- The brake pads should never need to be replaced, they are hardly used due to the regenerative braking system. Look up pictures on the net of Prius with no appreciable wear on the brake pads. One great example is an owner who thought to take pictures of his Prius' brake pads at 8,000 miles and then again at 105,000 miles. The pads were measured with calipers and there was no appreciable wear after 97,000 miles. No cost there.

- As I said, you never touch the nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery or the hybrid system, it is self-regulating. No cost there.

- The gas engine is not tuned up for 100,000 miles. At even 15,000 miles per year, that's about seven years. And then...

- four spark plugs run $12.00 each, four is $48.00 (the wires aren't replaced and there are no distributors because each cylinder has a direct injection module and they are not replaced)

- coolant is $15.50 a gallon and you need two gallons, or $31.00 (if you live in an extremely hot or cold climate, you might need to change the coolant 2X in 100,000 miles so figure $62.00 there)

- air filters are $18.00 for the engine and $25.00 for the cabin and are replaced every 15,000 miles. So over 100,000 miles, we'll go high and say 7 sets of air filters at $301.00.

- at 100,000 miles, inspect the wiring, change the oil (might as well, since you're there) lube, inspect and flush the brake lines, flush the coolant if necessary. It runs about $225.00, which includes parts.

- the sealed, continuously variable transmission fluid is not changed until 90,000 miles, about $140.00

- The OEM (Original Equipment from the Manufacturer) Goodyear Integrity's are about $113.00 each, installed. The originals are low-rolling resistance, specialty tires, just like a truck or sports car. They will last about 35,000 or so. Three sets of OEM tires- over 105,000 miles- will run $1356.00 installed.

- Oil and filter changes every 3000 miles and tire rotations every 6000 miles, just like any other vehicle. Oil changes are about $26.00 and tire rotations are about $18.00, or about $884.00 for oil changes and $306.00 for rotations over 100,000 miles

So, over 100,000 miles, for regular service, a Prius should run about $3322.00, rounded to $3400.00, or about .034 cents per mile.

All of my service and parts amounts come from a local Toyota dealership (not the corner cheapy lube), and do not figure in any kind of promotions, coupons, or discounts. I called on 6/12/07.

We'll go high and say gas in a Prius at $3.50 a gallon will run about $7,000 over 100,000 miles, or about .07 cents per mile (100,000 miles / 50 mpg (I get 51.7 mpg currently as an average, city and highway, auto temp w/air and stereo on) = 2000 gallons of gas X $3.50 a gallon = $7,000).

So a Prius will run about $11000 ($3400 + $7000), or .11 cents per mile, to operate over 100,000 miles.

I used 100,000 miles because it is a easy, round number, and most people don't keep their vehicles more than 6 or 7 years. The Prius will last much, much longer than 100,000, and it will perform better at that amount than most vehicles on the road with 100,000 or 150,000 miles.

Any vehicle you are considering should be put to this kind of scrutiny. A vehicle is a major investment and it will cost you money to run properly. Please print this info out and use it to compare any vehicles by calling your local dealership and asking the parts and service departments what is involved in maintenance over 100,000 miles.

As far as the energy and materials for the NiMH batteries go:

Our federal government has tested NiMH batteries from the Prius and discovered they still maintain 90% of their capacity after 100,000 miles. They do not lose 10% capacity/storage/efficiency per year, as others have stated. Look up the testing at the DOE website.

BTW, the price for a new NiMH battery for either generation of the Prius is $2985.13, not the $5-10,000.00 that people like to throw around the internet. Call your local Toyota dealer and ask for the parts department.

And the current record is over 360,000 miles on a Prius using the original NiMH battery and hybrid system. Many Prius are used as taxis and also by the State of New York and Colorado as state municipal vehicles racking up 100,000-200,000 miles without issue on a regular basis. Those are not typos, anything else you may have seen is an urban myth.

Speaking for Toyota, there is an 800 number on each NiMH hybrid battery, and that number allows a person to turn in that battery for a $200.00 bounty. That's assuming a NiMH even gets out of the hands of an auto salvage company who will sell it to the top bidder. Who's going to throw something like that into a dump?

The entire battery, just like almost every bit of those vehicles, is completely recyclable.

The alkaline batteries that people use and throw out are a different type of battery than what is in vehicles like the Prius. The Hybrid Synergy Drive unit that Toyota developed is designed to keep the NiMH battery in a mid-peak charge range, trying not to top-charge it or, of course, completely discharge it.

That enables a NiMH to last fairly indefinitely. Obviously, there will be some breakdown eventually, but one of the great things about the Prius system, for example, is the NiMH battery is composed of 36 individual cells. If one cell goes bad, it can be replaced and the remainder stay. That is what's happened when Toyota has torture tested the Prius in Alaska and Death Valley.

Working with Toyota, I know about their commitments to recycling and the environment (Toyota's web site lists environmental reports dating back many years).

As far as the supposed "environmental impact" of the NiMH batteries in the Toyota and Lexus hybrids...

The plant in Sudbury where Toyota buys approximately 1.5% of the plant's annual nickel output can be seen using this Google maps address:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&la...

Sudbury, Ontario is called the mining capital of the world for good reason.

The Sudbury plant has been in continuous operation since the rock was blasted to make way for the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1883.

That means that nickel has been mined there for the last 125 years. The Prius has been on the road since 1998. What about all the environmental damage done for the 115 years before the Prius ever came along?

There used to be a great deal of pollution at the Sudbury plant, just like there was at a lot of factory facilities. However, new pollution controls are in place and Sudbury residents themselves will talk about how things are improving dramatically in the area around the plant. Young trees are growing there, even now.

Another thing noted about the area around the plant is the Apollo astronauts trained there. It has been said that the area around the plant was as lifeless a wasteland as the moon. Actually, the astronauts trained there because the rock formations were similar to those

Isn't she suppose to be PROTECTING the country instead of opening it up to illegals?

Answer
Arapio is doing a good job, and is a direct political competitor with her cronies. She does not like his approval rating.. she attacks him. It is pure politics that harms the American People.

Understand a couple of things folks: Phoenix, AZ, had a huge criminal element from Mexico. They lost more cars than any other city in the United States and they headed for Mexico, and Mexico, and Mexico. They had businesses putting their cars inside tall fences, (which worked well) with security. But the Citizens continued to lose vehicles and Phoenix became as flies on the cake. Growth stopped.

Sheriff Joe started pretty serious efforts to control the crime and became very popular. He raided Mesa, Az, which was notorious for gun battles and narcotics, and Napolitano criticized him for it. He did drag nets for illegal aliens, and she tried to cut off his money. The FBI said great job Sheriff Joe.. Governor Napalitano said booo. Sheriff Joe won and the Governor was in the process of losing her job.

One point worth notice: the Napalitano said.. show her a 50 foot fence and she would show you a 51 foot ladder. How cute... try and jump down from 51 feet if you believe that. Further, two news supporters of Napalitano went down to Mexico to buy a 50 foot ladder and couldn't find a thing. While the two reporters were down there, they were threatened before they got out because the Mexican Mafia could not find a way over the fence... and that includes her famous 51 foot ladder.

Napalitano needs to be fired. Sheriff Joe should be director of Homeland Security.

I live in PG County,MD,and about a week ago an officer was killed in the line of duty. His funeral is scheduled for today, and today I noticed a lot of officers with black tape on their badges as well as their police cruisers. Is this done in memoriam of an fallen officer? Or is it for another reason?

Answer
Yes; the black tape on the badges are in memoriam of a fallen hero. I am sorry to hear this. I think they should make it known nationally whenever an officer has made the ultimate sacrifice. Same thing w/our service men & women. Instead of just hearing a few names at the end of Nancy Grace's shows (where she says, "An American Hero"); they all deserve national attention. They could make it a 7 PM thing on a certain channel that would cut into any regular programing at least to say a couple minutes of who the officer(s) was/were & the situations to how/where they lost their lives for serving. All flags should be half-staff, too. I'm sure they are in your area?
Prayers & love to Officer Adrian Morris & his loved ones. RIP. <3
http://www.lawofficer.com/article/news/maryland-officer-killed-crash ~fatal car crash claimed Officer Adrian Morris' life. He was 23 years very young and a part of the Police Explorer's program before becoming an officer. The county police chief said that many of the department's officers knew Officer Morris since he was 15, making it even more extremely difficult for them. Officer Morris (driver) & his partner were in pursuit of a stolen veh when the accident occurred. http://www.odmp.org/officer/21366-police-officer-adrian-morris It's soo eerie to see a law enforcement cruiser like that; especially knowing it claimed an officer's life. ={

Speaking of half-staff; they will be flown in that manner this Friday in honor of Neil Armstrong's funeral.

How much do you know about the Illuminati?

Rissord

I just want to know what you know of them? Might be something very useful. Share your thoughts. Everyone is welcome. I already know much about them, I just want to know new things, if anyone knows more about them. Always learning :). So share it so everyone can know. Many people already know, how their symbolism is shown through the music industry, movies and cartoons ect. The us dollar bill and so on. That part is the basics of it I guess, since they already also have an agenda that they follow and have a goal for. They believe in some sort of higher power (Not the devil as I heard it) and call themselves freemasons who wants to control this world ect. If you think this is crazy talk :D, then do not comment and leave now. I don't want hate comments to my question, please. Be nice? How much do YOU know about this, and what more can you say about them. Every answer is accepted. Also the ones I just talked about. Just not much, because now I mentioned them. But other things as well about them instead, if possible. Thank you all :)

Come up with new things about them. The more the better :) Everyone needs to know.

What I know about the Illuminati, may be wrong too. I'm not 100% accurate. So I want to learn from you guys :).

I still believe in, that they exist. But at this moment I'm also doubting on it. Yet I see some accidents like Michael Hastings car crash, that probably was remotely controlled. I just don't know. Some things just seem very convincing to me. I don't easily believe in anything though ;)

Enlighten me lol

Answer
There is a lot of misconception and misunderstanding
on this subject. The Illuminati in the modern context means the ruling elite. They are the international bankers and royal families of Europe and elsewhere.
The goals of the Illuminati is the creation of one world government and a new world order. Here is an excellent article exposing who they are , how they operate , their plans , why are they successful. Read here http://endalltyranny.wordpress.com/2013/05/11/what-is-the-illuminati-3/
Yes. The illuminati is real. I have read hundreds of
books , articles and watched hundreds of
documentries and radio shows on this subject and i am absolutely convinced that they are real believe
me. They are the International bankers , royal families of europe. all the elite plans are happening now like end of national sovereignty , end of national identity , end of true culture etc. There is no need to search for any proof.
One should read the books of elite frontmens like H.G Wells , Bertnard Russell , G.B. Shaw , A. Huxley. These people openly wrote about the elites plan in their books and essays. Another good book by their own historian of Council on foreign relation is "Tragedy and Hope" by proffesor Caroll Quigley. Bill Clinton was
recruited by C. Quigley. All things that are part of the
agenda are rampantly promoted like Global
warmming , New age spirituality , electronic currency etc. This is a huge topic. A very good and true researcher on this subject is Alan Watt. Listen to his shows. Here is his website
http://www.cuttingthroughthematrix.com/
a know a great deal on this subject but it would take loads of time and space to write here.

Here are a few topic concerning the Illuminati and the NWO you should look at

1) The Ruling Elite (Illuminati)
a) The 13 International banking families.
b) Interconnected bloodlines

b) Carbon Currency , Carbon trading , Carbon taxes.
3) New Age Spirituality : The New World Religion for the NWO
a) New Ageism everywhere.
b) Systematic end of Organized religion.
4) Transhumanism
a) Merging of man with machines

5) Merging of Capitalism and Communism.
6) Electronic system : Electronic currency , Electronic shoping , RFID Chips.
7) Financial control of the Elite.
a) Banks
b) Corporations
8) Supranational Institutes and International Financial Institutes controlled by the Elite.

9) Elite NGO's and think tanks : Bilderberger , Council on Foreign Relation , Aspen Istitutes etc
10) War on Public
a) Massive total surveilance : everything being monitored
b) Police State
c) GMO Foods

d) Fascination with the Occult.
e) Gender blending and confusion
f) Predictive programming for future changes.
12) Mainstream media control of the ruling elite : All major news channels , Newspaper , magazines used to brainwash the public

Is it easier to be a good person or an evil person?

us news car quotes on Blizzard Entertainment CEO and co-founder of the world's Mike Morhaime
us news car quotes image

michael w

Personally, I have been battling with my thoughts on how evil society can be. Sometimes, we don't hesitate to insult one another, submit to greed, or become envious. I try to look for the good people in the world to prove my theories wrong.Do you think it's easier to be a good person, or an evil person? Is it hard to do good things that sometimes get unnoticed? Are we bad because we live in a society that revels in attention and fame? Are people just inherently rude and evil, or is the temptations that drive us away from a true good life?

Answer
Being good is always hard. I am a Christian---I promise not to quote scripture here---but as a Christian, the struggle with temptation sometimes is difficult.

I'm handicapped, can't work and am on a fixed income. The last year and a half was extremely hard and I found myself living in my car for a few days. During this time, I considered stealing, which meant hurting someone else. I soon realized it wasn't in me to do such a thing.

Society can be evil, it's in the news every day. I am sad at those who think robbing a business at gunpoint will solve all their problems.

I do believe that some are inherently evil. Look at society's children who are abused daily. Men and women too. I often ask myself what posses the abusers to be this way.

We all would like to be applauded for our good deeds, but someone once said, "do good then disappear" (or something like that) I've seen this first hand. Before I started living in my car, there was always a bag of groceries on my doorstep, and sometimes, money in the mail. To this day I don't know who it was, but I'll always be grateful.

This is a good question, thanks for letting me answer

So what is the economic outlook in the upcoming months?

internet

240,000 jobs lost in october alone. 14 year unemployment high, over a million jobs lost in 2008 alone. record number of companies going bankrupt including all domestic car companies. foreclosure rate still very high. consumer spending comes to almost grinding halt, and dow jones keeps falling steadily. Record number of unemployed recent college graduates, etc etc etc.

and recession hasn't even been announced yet.

not to mention that the current economic condition snatched away John Mccain's chance to presidency.

How can one derive a car dealership's actual invoice price on a vehicle?

car info app on Impugnaci N de Algunos Impios, Blasfemos, Sacr Legos y Sediciosos Art ...
car info app image

SoxFan

I know that it's easy to present a phony invoice on anything. But are there ways to crack the secret? A sticker price might reveal a figure that matches what one might find in a blue book, Edmunds, or website for that make and model. How, then, can one determine the actual amount that a specfic dealership spent, to acquire the car?

Answer
Hey SoxFan,

Hey SoxFan,

My name is Rebekah and I work at Kelley Blue Book. If you are talking about new cars, the invoice information is available in the new car section on our site (http://www.kbb.com/new-cars) in the vehicle pricing guide. You will need to put in the make, model, trim, and any specifics about the vehicle to get the typical invoice price. This is not the actual invoice price of the particular vehicle at the dealership, but should be close depending on when the vehicle in question was built. The manufacturer typically has price increases throughout the year.

Weâve also launched an optimized site for cellphones at i.kbb.com, as well as an iPhone app you can find in the Apple App Store, to make it really easy for you to get this info while at the dealership.

Hope this helps!

How do I sell an out of state car in california?

Randy

hello, i am selling a car that is registered and insured in another state. I am hoping someone can map out the process for me detailed as this is the first car i am selling. How does the licence plate situation work also since it is out of state? i appreciate everyones help thank you.

Answer
Hey Randy,

First off you need to make sure you have a free and clear title in your name to the vehicle in question.

If you purchased it and were making payments you should make sure that the vehicle is paid off or atleast know what the cash buy out price is on your loan to pay off the title.

Now, let assume it been paid for and you have a title. The next step is to make sure that the title you have show no lien holders or if it does, that the lein has been signed of as paid in full. If this is the case, you'll need an application to transfer title in CA. Put all the new owners info on the app and yours as well for the previous owner.

There are other docs involved, vehicle inspections and emmissions test but you'll need to check with dmv for specifics.

Once you've taken money for the purchase you and the new owner will need to go to the dmv office, sign the application for transfer and have ownership changed and registration issued. The new owner will need to show proof of insurance and pay tax title and license fees and your done.

It his worry now.

If you need specific info it would be a good idea to take your vehicle title and your id up to dmv and have them explain everything in detail to you before you actually try to do it so that you make sure you've got all your bases covered.

Answer
Get Google Chrome (in order for it to work you need Chrome, so if you don't already have it, download it), then go to some News Website, like msn or fox or something, then right click on a story headline and click "Inspect element" and then when the dialog box appears, double click the text that is the headline and change it to "[mom's/9 year olds/4 year old's favorite actor] Died Today in a Car Crash" or something, then find the story in the dialog box (if you can't find it close out the box and right click the story and open it again, and then find the story and delete that and change it to your own. Also after retyping something, hit enter, and the change should automatically appear one your page you have open.

NOTE: If you refresh the page, it will go back to what it originally was, it only changes it on your computer, not the website.

October Surprise: McCain Killed Someone In 1964 In A Car Wreck?

American V

Is this a cover-up?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/28/news-orgs-investigate-pos_n_138449.html
For the past two months, a major American magazine and an allied news service have been engaged in a legal battle with the United States Navy over records that they believe show that John McCain once was involved in an automobile accident that injured or, perhaps, killed another individual.

Vanity Fair magazine and the National Security News Service claim to have knowledge "developed from first-hand sources" of a car crash that involved then-Lt. McCain at the main gate of a Virginia naval base in 1964, according to legal filings. The incident has been largely, if not entirely, kept from the public. And in documents suing the Navy to release pertinent information, lawyers for the NS News Service allege that a cover-up may be at play.

Answer
I saw that and thought about posting it but I figured the cons would just dismiss it as liberal lies. Its amusing what they are willing to overlook just because of their raw hatred for Obama. (I wonder why??)

Looks like McCains drives as well as he flies. Did you see the piece on how he crashed two other planes and was investigated for it??

Someones daddy got him out of a lot of trouble...

EDIT: as I figured, in the time it took me to write that, 3-4 people just bashed the "Huffington Post" instead of reading the article. Whats funny is that HP simply reposts articles from other sources while Fox (Faux) News makes up stories out of thin air, but somehow the cons treat that as 'real' news.

How to fix my steering wheel on my car?

kia car info image

I have a 2007 Kia Optima and none of the buttons on my steering wheel work. The horn, the cruise control, the music controls, and the airbag, none of them work I was wondering where to start looking for the problem. I have tried to find a fuse with no such luck.

Answer
there is a switch located in the steering column behind the steering wheel that controls everything that you just mentioned. It is called a clockspring, and in order to replace it you will need to remove the steering wheel, disconnect the airbag then you will see it,because that is what operates the airbag, horn, cruise, and radio.I just did one on a dodge dakota that had the same problem. If you decide to do it please do not forget to disconnect the battery cables and let the car set for like 20 or 30 minuets so that all the current from the airbag memory will go away, that way it wont deactivate on ya. You can get all the info.on this by googling it,just type in the tool bar ,,,,how to replace a clockspring on a 2007 kia optima, and it will take you to a lot of pages and just scroll down to any of them. Please let me know if this info helped ya out.,,,,,,,,

How to get car insurance for a modified car?

car info through vin number image

User

Im looking to buy a modified Mitsubishi with modifications like butterfly doors/ better engine/ new body kit etc...

I just wonder who insures modified cars in the USA? and for a 16 year old driver around how much? I know its hard to determine a price but a rough estimate is appreciated
to Merissa, not all companies insure modified cars, i need a company please

Answer
All of my cars have been modded. I drive a Eclipse GT right now. I just dont tell them its been modded lol. I go through a local insurance company. They walked out and looked at my car. All they ever wanted was my info and the VIN number on the car. Im 24 and I pay 75 a month for full coverage. Insurance is different for everyone. Considering your 16 and if its something like an Eclipse I would guess around 200 a month. The only time I have ever known people to need special insurance is if its some kind of classic car or something more exotic like a Ferrari.

I bought a car in california without a smog certificate?

x

I bought the car and i didnt realize it was required by law for the seller to provide the smog certificate. I tried to contact the seller through text message and calling him and leaving a voice mail detailing the situation. Needless to say he is not contacting me back, what can i do. I have his address, name and phone number thats about it.

Answer
I'm not certain, but I think you can go online and get that info from the DMV website, if you have the VIN number. However if it is not current, I don't think you have much recourse except to take it in yourself. Good luck.

What are good questions to ask when buying a used car not from a dealer?

Jorge V

I dont know much about cars and I am going to go look at a car this weekend and i want to know what i should ask before buying the car. What things should i look out for? It's not from a dealer.

Answer
Do Not Buy That Used Car If...
These are the top mistakes made by used car buyers. Don't let this happen to you!
â¢The 17 digit VIN#'s on the door, hood, engine, dashboard do not all match exactly
â¢You failed to have a mechanic check out the car on a lift
â¢You did not run the Experian AutoCheck Vehicle History Reports on the car's VIN# prior to purchasing
â¢The title still shows a lien holder with no "Lien Satisfied" stamp on it. It means they still owe the bank
â¢The AutoCheck report shows evidence of odometer rollback or title branded as junk, flooded, stolen, etc
â¢There is no VIN# on the dashboard, or it has been filed down or altered in any way
â¢The seller does not let you drive the car first
â¢The seller does not back up every verbal promise IN WRITING!
â¢The seller is NOT the owner of the car. It means they are a dealer's agent
â¢The seller has no written bill of sale identifying the car, VIN#, and stating the title has not been rebuilt, etc.
â¢The seller does not give you copies of anything you ask for
â¢It's parked along the side of the road with a For sale sign, unless you can verify they are the owner
â¢The seller has no drivers license, title, and registration for the car. Assume the car is stolen
â¢You have not verified the seller's name on their drivers license is the same person on the car title
â¢The seller refuses to let you take the car to a trusted mechanic for inspection
â¢The seller's asking price is suspiciously far below market value
â¢The seller makes you sign a power of attorney, or only wants cash
â¢The seller tells you to pay now, and he'll get you the title tomorrow, it's locked up at the bank

You see and hear horrible things on the news and in magazines about how abused women and children in these countries are. Does anyone have anything to add?

Answer
lemme gve u my inetrpretation being a muslim teenager stayin in one of da midd east country. it depends on wat middle east country ur talkin abt. SA is a highly conservative country coz its holy but they hve recently allowed women 2 vote. if u visit oder countries like dubai, qatar, bahrain, kuwait etc women are a part of developing the country n seen as role models 4 da aspiring teenagers.

Current statistics underscore the significant improvement and the remarkable expansion of educational opportunities at all levels for Arab women in the last two decades. A new born girl in the Arab world today has much better chance than her mother to attend school and finish college. Arab governments are committed and determined to augment educational opportunities and to make them accessible to all eligible women. It is firmly believed that without emancipating women from the bondage of illiteracy no real political, social or economic development can take place.
Many Arab women already have distinguished themselves as poets, novelists, teachers, physicians, chemists, physicists, engineers, doctors, judges, lawyers, journalists, and Cabinet members.
Female genital mutilation is still practised in certain pockets of Africa and Egypt, but viewed as an inconceivable horror by the vast majority of Muslims.Plus its cultural not religious. Forced marriages may still take place in certain Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities, but would be anathema to Muslim women from other backgrounds. A woman forbidden from driving a car in Riyadh will cheerfully take the wheel when abroad, confident that her country's bizarre law has nothing to do with Islam. Afghan women educated before the Taliban rule know that banning girls from school is forbidden in Islam, which encourages all Muslims to seek knowledge from cradle to grave, from every source possible.

Yes, i agree der r places like afganistan, iraq etc where women are abused and their rights r snatched away 4m em but dat doesnt happen everywhere. my rites r not taken away 4m me nor kids n women r being abused here.

women have the right to own property, to choose their own partners, and have equal rights to education. In accordance with prevailing culture, these rights became transformed into the duties of women to take care of children and remain in the house. This is not all that different than a century ago in America where women were expected the duties of "Republican Motherhood," which did not take them beyond the household sphere.
It is not Muslim women as such, but women everywhere who have been imprisoned by prejudice and cruelty.

What does it mean to find a dead bird on your doorstep?

german car news on German cars drive export boom for Germany - Carmony
german car news image
Q. Today I found a tiny blue tit tucked under my front door. My cat died a month ago so it couldn't of been her. Also, I have like a mini roof thing on top of my front door so there's no way it could have fell on the doorstep. The car is also directly in front of the driveway so I doubt it flew into the door. I heard some superstitions and that it represents death, is this true?

Answer
It represents death but death represents change too. You might want to see what this particular bird means as an animal totem.

I found some information online for you. For me if the animal message is coming from a dead one than there is a change coming that relates to that animals "totem traits". So for example if a particular bird talks about prosperity then a dead one of those birds could be talking about a change in career, receiving money from a death, pulling out of an investment etc.

So focus on your life and see what's going on in relation to the bird's meaning and then add the element of the fact that it's dead which most times is referring to change, endings which bring new beginnings etc. and not death.

In this case here's what I found online:

A few years ago I bought a second hand Vogel Orakel, a German oracle deck with real and mythological birds.
This is what the book says about the blue tit (in short):

Sign of emotion.
Affirmation: everything new inspires me.

You are always looking for new things to inspire you. Communication and exchange are vital for you. Your curiosity is endless, which may bring you to many new places. You like to find out secrets from other people - but consider, that if you do, you also gain a part of their life energy. Be careful that you have no more than a healthy curiosity and don't use it to fill an emptiness inside yourself.
You are a source of vitality for friends and neighbours. All the people in your surroundings are important to you.

You love the interaction with others, and enjoy the lighter side of life.
At the moment you should just go with the flow, which will give you strength and harmony.

http://www.tarotforum.net/archive/index.php/t-80615.html
******************************************************************

There is more to that thread above if you go to the link.

Here is the interpretation I like but I wanted to give you some options:

Blue tit
Perseverance, quick reaction, problems, joy, positive news, attention to detail. It is important that you act quickly with any problems or difficult situations, this will avoid bigger problems. You will receive some surprising and positive news, important to pay attention to small details especially with anything legally binding. There will be several opportunities for enjoyment and fun, take full advantage of them. A time to be aware of all what is going on around you, and not to take risks or be complacent.

http://www.theseer.com/totems-birds.htm

So with the above considered, maybe find the message that relates to you and take the message a little more seriously than you normally would and fit in the element of change.

Does anyone feel that the Hadron Collider in Switzerland poses any real danger to the world?

Work in Pr

It was mentioned in my local news paper this morning as a concern. I had never heard of it before so I looked it up on Wikipedia and this is what it said about it under "Safety concerns".

"Concerns have been raised that performing collisions at previously unexplored energies might unleash new and disastrous phenomena. These include the production of micro black holes, and strangelets."

What are your thoughts on this?

Answer
CERNs web site states that we have not been destroyed by effects of cosmic rays and micro black holes will evaporate.

However, cosmic rays travel too fast to be captured by Earths gravity, and Hawking Radiation is disputed and contradicts Einsteins highly successful relativity theory. Collider particles smash head on like a car collision and can be captured by Earths gravity, and relativity predicts micro black holes will not decay (Hawking called Einstein doubly wrong, yet it is Einstein who is repeatedly found to have been correct in his theories). There is currently no reasonable proof of LHC safety, LSAG (LHC Safety Assessment Group) has been trying for months to prove safety without success. I hold the minority opinion that it may not be possible because it may in fact not be safe.

Cosmic Rays from the legal complaint.

any such novel particle created in nature by cosmic ray impacts would be left with a velocity at nearly the speed of light, relative to earth. At such speeds, . . . , is believed by most theorists to simply pass harmlessly through our planet with nary an impact, safely exiting on the other side. . . . Conversely, any such novel particle that might be created at the LHC would be at slow speed relative to earth, a goodly percentage would then be captured by earths gravity, and could possibly grow larger [accrete matter] with disastrous consequences of the earth turning into a large black hole.

Professor Dr. Otto E. Roessler hold the minority opinion that there may be a very real danger from the Large Hadron Collider (translation from German at www.lhcconcerns.com/LHCConcerns/Forums/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=52)

If this thing is so safe, why arent CERN scientists allowed to express any personal fears they might have about this Collider?

Alleged in the legal action: Chief Scientific Officer, Mr. Engelen passed an internal memorandum to workers at CERN, asking them, regardless of personal opinion, to affirm in all interviews that there were no risks involved in the experiments, changing the previous assertion of minimal risk.

(Statisticians generally consider minimal risk as 1-10%).

We are 4 women doing the Avonwalk for Breastcancer and need to raise 1800.00 each by April 08. We've fundraised on smaller scales but we need big-time fundraising efforts now. We all live in Houston, TX.

Answer
Houston is big, try a local radio station such as a college/high school radio station. Put flyers on peoples cars where you know there is a big events (i.e. church, concerts, sporting events, night clubs, mall parking lots) Put up flyers in the grocery store, laundry matts. See if one of the penny saver papers will sponsor an ad.

What to do when not involving car insurance in car accident?

changling_

Ok so I hit someones bumper, my fault. I don't have insurance but they do. Her car insurance called me the next day asking for basic info. A couple days later the car owner called me and said she didn't want to go through the insurance company because it would take her too long to receive her deductible back. She said she was going to pay the deductible to allstate and get the car fixed but not go after me I guess, I don't really get it, as long as I pay her back for the deductible. Would I still owe something to allstate afterwards or would I actually be able to walk away from something like this?

Answer
Kind of; it's more like you still owe the women. She's paying for Allstate, you're paying her.

You wouldn't own their insurance company anything, legally. You are not covered by insurance nor are you any way related to Allstate, so her insurance company is going to take care of her car and get it fixed up, she pays the insurance company the deductible, and you are going to pay the amount she paid the insurance company.

The deductible can be anywhere from $250 to $1,000. Depends on what plan she signed up with.

If there was a one-stop place to get info on Hawaii, what would you want to know?

car info website on price,International Cars and Motors Ltd Rhino Rx Car models in India
car info website image

Willow Nat

The company I work for is very invested in getting information to people who come to Hawaii. What are the top 5 to 10 things you want to know about when planning a trip or moving to Hawaii? Your responses are very valuable, so let me know what you want to know about. Who knows, your questions may lead to a one-stop info website.

Answer
I'm currently planning a trip. Never been there before. The questions I'm currently wrestling with right now are:

1) Want to go to big island. Frequent flyer miles getting me to Honolulu. I will buy a plane ticket from Honolulu to Kona and back to Honolulu. Not sure if I should buy it for *immediately* after my long-haul flight gets in, and returning from Kona immediately before my flight back to the mainland leaves, or if I should bother spending time on Oahu. In other words...for everything I want to see on Kona...would it be better to see that type of thing on Oahu instead? For instance I know they have botanical gardens on both islands, but should I see one on Oahu or one on big island?

2) It would be awesome to be able to find information about Hawaii restaurants, with specific information about common dietary restrictions - low-sodium, low-fat, vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free, gluten-free, shellfish-free, or whatever various people need. But this isn't exactly "low-hanging fruit" in terms of website content, as the majority of your visitors won't need it.

3) Most rental companies don't let you take their cars on the saddle road (again, talking about big island here). But, they're reconstructing it over several years. It would be nice to have up-to-date information on where the road is good and where the road is bad, and how bad does "bad" really mean. And, whether it's worth it to take a rental car there anyway, in violation of the rules. But legally you're probably not allowed to say that, huh?

How can I find out if my car has been impounded in Tijuana?

Jessica

I let a friend borrow my car, and to make a long story short, my friend and my car ended up in Tijuana. The only info I have is that my friend was arrested and my car impounded. How do I go about finding where my friend and car are? Thank you for any info or websites or phone listings.

I saw an interesting article on Yahoo News concerning natural foods that are good fat burners, such as green tea, cinnamon and some others that I can't remember. I would like to find it again but so far I've had no luck.

How do you find a car to restore?

Q. I'm looking to do my first car restoration: preferably a camaro. I'd love to find one from either the 60's or the 80's, but it's hard to find one that's not in pretty good shape, meaning theyre not cheap either.

Answer
Try hemmings.com for one.
Find a dirt track and talk to the racers, some one may have one that has a good body that all the power train parts have been taken off of.
Of course there is always e-bay motors.
The last course is to just drive around town till you see one in a back yard or a field and then try to find the owner and buy it from them.
Go to car shows and auto swap meets, sometimes you will find one for sale there. You find many of these listed in Hemmings Motor News (also at hemmings.com).
There are also local publications that will have them for sale (Thrifty Nickle for example).

The home I live in has a front door that was painted with car paint. It is chipping and looks horrible. I am wondering if it is possible to sand the door down and repaint the door with regular outdoor paint? Anyone have any experience/advice with this?
So another question: what would I use to sand it with?

Answer
yes it will work,Lowes has this new paint that is awsome and also priced reasonable, the name of it is ONE and it has been proven to be just as good if not better than Valspar.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Does anyone know how to fix deep chips in car paint?

laura_lou8

I have some(lots) deep chips and cracking in my car paint. Does anyone know to fix them or a website that explains how to?

Answer
It may be cheaper to take it to an auto body shop and have it repainted. Macco usually have deals on painting cars from 299.00.
But if you are a hands on type.
You need to sand the area of the chips/scratches. Depending on how deep the chips are will depend on what type of sand paper you'll need. But you'll need to sand down the chips/scratches so its even with the rest of the area around the spot. You may need to use bondo, or spot puddy to fill in any scratches you made in the metal. Spray primer on the area. And then paint the area with color match paint. If the paint has CC after the color code then you would need to clear coat the paint after it dries.
Hope you have fun!
