FACEBOOK APP HELP NEWS FEED?

dandii_smb

I need to know how to delete the "Which gossip girl character are you?" and "What kind of car are you?" from my news feed. ALL MY FRIENDS KEEP TAKING THEM and that's what my news feed is mostly made of! I don't wanna delete news feed from the friend, just wanted to take out app posts. I only have Bumper Sticker.. But I have a lot of dead apps that I'd like to remove in Settings>Application Settings>(drop down menu) Allowed To Post>(blue bar at bottom) Never Allowed To Post

So overall:

1)How do I delete app stories on my news feed without deleting all of a friends posts?

2) How do I remove all my inactive apps that were on the said location?

Answer
There is no way to block an app's feed from your news feed. This is a result of Facebook's recent change.
What I do is:
a) block the app.
b) report the app for spamming me.
c) write on the app's wall that it is spamming me and is blocked.

This will at least alert the app's developer that they need to stop generating any feed output until facebook gives me control back.

2001 Chevy Impala Car remote problem?

Kj

I have a 2001 Chevy Impala i recently purchase from a used car dealership. The car remote doesnt work. I look up info on it and i now you have 2 do the FOB settings thing. So when i Do all the steps and it says hold the lock and unlock button until you hear the chime. I hear the chime but the car remote still doesnt work . I was wonder if anyone could help me with this . Am i missing a step or doing something wrong

PS.Took it back to the car dealership they dont know how to fix it

Answer
1. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and the radio to off. Do not crank the engine.

2. Press and hold the DISP button on the radio for at least five seconds until settings is displayed.

3. Press the SEEK up or down arrows until FOB PROG appears on the display.

4. Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the submenu. The current selection will have an
asterisk next to it. BEGIN will be displayed.

5. Press the DISP button to start programming. When the message PUSH FOB flashes, press and
hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first transmitter at the same time for 15 seconds. A
chime will be heard to verify the transmitter is learned.

6. Repeat Step 5 for each additional transmitter up to four remotes total. You do not need to press
the DISP button again, just press down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the next transmitter
to be learned to a maximum of four transmitters per vehicle.

The mode you selected is now set. You can either exit the programming mode by following the instructions later in this section or program the next feature available on your vehicle.

EXIT (Exit Feature Customization Mode): This feature allows you to exit the vehicle customization programming.
To Exit:
1. Scroll until EXIT appears on the display.
2. Press the DISP button to exit programming. A chime will he heard to verify the exit.

If you followed these steps and your remote still will not work the dealer CAN correct this problem.Best of luck.

How to become a Car Designer?

Chris

Hey guys, im currently a senior in High school and im graduating in 2 months. for now i'm just goingto go to my local community college, but i have a passion for designing cars. i wanted to know if anyone know what it takes to become an automotive body designer. im a pretty good artist and i constantly draw cars. the field i want to specialize in isn't very common and i can't find any info on what i have to do to become a auto. designer. i cant figure out what i have to major in, what schools i should go to, etc. i live in california so if anyone knows of any schools that can help me out please tell me. thanks again!

Answer
You'd need an engineering degree to be an automotive designer and there are degree programs specifically geared toward that field. You're smart to go to community college before transferring to a four-year school, since you'll save a fortune and still graduate with the same degree as everyone who spent four years (and many thousands of dollars more) at the university. Here's a link with information about programs for auto designers, some of which are in California:

Answer
My best advice to you is to set an appointment with somebody who is in charge of automotive design at a car company you would like to work for, and talk with them directly to find out what you need to know to get a career started. If you do get a job working in automotive design someday, keep in ming that retro styled autos sell very well here in america. For example the 05-current Mustang, and the new Camaro & Dodge Challenger. I also would love to see Cadillac bring back tail fins and lots of chrome & character back to their cars, instead of the boring cookie cutter cars that they have now.

Are Guys screwed over in the dating world?

Ese

I really don't know how to ask this question without sounding insensitive to women's side of things. I'm only going from what I know.

Here's a Link I saw a while back:
http://womenslane.com/relationship-stats-which-every-couple-can-relate-to-infographic.html

A few of the stats presented put me in this train of thought. And I did more reading.

Men depend entirely on relationships for their intimacy, yet relationships don't come, we have to take. So men have been shown to be hit harder by breakups, and that twice as many men attempt suicide from breakups as women.

Even then, there's this attitude with starting relationships that basically says guys have to keep proving he's something special from the get-go, since they are the ones usually initiating. Basically it's like "OK, you're interested, now prove to me you're not a waste of my time"

And I personally face a "guilty until proven innocent" case. Basically, my ex started a relationship with me. after she broke up with me, she said I didn't do enough for her to prove that I WASN'T some guy only after one thing. She was basically over me in minutes, while I was left in an apartment alone for the summer. So I was basically ASSUMED to be after only sex, and since I didn't prove myself effectively, she left. So I was left emotionally crushed as though I hadn't any emotions whatsoever, when it was giving me nightmares for months.

I also noticed the issue of guys only winning 10% of arguments. In my experience, the guy usually stops arguing as not to hurt her, but then the girl will basically keep arguing even when the relationship is at steak. basically, she loves you, but not when she's arguing with you. I can tell you many times where this has been the case, and they put winning the argument over the relationship. Thus we have the "Wife's always right" idea floating around marriage.

I'm already sensing violent backlash, so if you keep a cool, calm explanation, that would be very much appreciated. My view might be clouded, but that's why I'm asking this question. I need clarification to feel comfortable dating again.

Answer
i agree with you
girls are terrible in relationships
they yell and they argue and they want to win and they're irrational and they know it but they won't stop
and they find and make problems when there aren't any

in their younger years they would do anything to keep a dead relationship alive
they would try to make themselves look better and they will do whatever the guy says
i know girls who have spent thousands on their boyfriends, lent them money, cars, bought them expensive presents and asked for nothing in return out of desperation
and it would inevitably end painfully
and they remember that
it happens again and again that they give their all and they try their best to no avail

then they get older and they feel a sense of self empowerment
they keep all those bad memories as baggage in tow and their mind set is finding the perfect guy
they will no longer settle and they will no longer compromise
they want to be in charge they want to be the choosers, not the beggers
they start coming to terms with their individuality, thinking they don't need a man to make them happy
this usually occurs with college girls and younger women (20-25 and sometimes all the way up to 30 nowadays)

and that is the stage in life you probably found your ex in
the stage where she had a lot of baggage and "guys only after one thing" was all she knew
and she's too busy finding the fabled perfect man to settle down so she keeps on going
and underneath it all is her own insecurity

i don't think guys are screwed over in the dating world at all
i think girls get screwed over again and again until they don't give a fuck
and i think it's sad that girls act that way like no guy will ever be good enough for them
and no guy is serious
because there are guys like you out there who are serious about relationships

but they do get over it at some point
and then they want to settle down with a REAL guy
and they're not too insecure for a relationship anymore
so don't give up

i've been heartbroken by a terrible guy a few years back
i wasn't up to par for three years
and even to this day i know this is a baggage i have to keep for a while
and i'm not going to date for a long long time
it's not fair to break other people's heart just because yours got broken

Hello Tariq

The answer is no.
Your cousin needs a G-licensed driver with 4+ years of experience. Unfortunately, you do not qualify for being able to teach him until you have had four years of G-experience.

please see this link for the VISUAL guide of what steps the process of getting your Ontario drivers license consists of: http://find-a-driving-school.ca/ontario-driving-licence-infographic/

Here's the official driver's handbook for ON: http://find-a-driving-school.ca/drivers-handbooks/ontario-g1-handbook-study-guide-online/

Each of these cars has strong defenders. In my experience the Toyota Hilux is the better vehicle. It has been around for a while and has gotten consistent and excellent reports.

But again the Rexton has many fans.

How can electric cars be said to be zero emission vehicles?

J S

There are emissions at the power plant, as well as ash and other pollutants. People have been scared about nuclear since the 1970's and we don't have anywhere to put the waste. Even if hydro is used, salmon are killed. With wind, bald eagles and other birds are killed. Why are plug-ins any better than gas or diesel cars?

Answer
Hey JS, the "deferred emissions" from electric vehicles is a concern, and one talked about frequently among environmentalists and industry people. This occurs just like you outlined, and electric car not having a tailpipe, but the coal fired power plant where it gets its electricity from does. Any time you plug in an electric car and charge it with a coal plant, you do emit more pollution at the plant, that is a known fact. The good news is that it's also a known quantity. There have been dozens of studies quantifying the "Well to Wheel" ratio of electric cars. This refers to how much oil or coal we have to dig up to run that emission free vehicle, versus just putting the oil in the gasoline powered car instead. For the most part, vehicles that are charged using 100% coal fired plants pretty much break even on emissions. But if you factor in natural gas, oil, and yes even renewable sources like hydro wind and solar, the electric car wins hands down.

Gasoline cars today are only about 25% efficient, 75% of the gasolines energy goes out the tailpipe when you drive. Diesel is a little better at 30 to 35%. But if you burn the fossil fuel in a large powerplant, then use the electricity in a 90% efficient electric car (this is typical), even with transmission line losses and such, you generally come out ahead environmentally. There is also the "embodied energy" problem, which refers to how much energy it takes to mine for metal and other materiels that make up a car. One of your answers here states it takes more energy to mill out a prius than the amount of energy the car can ever save, and that it's better to drive a Hummer. This is a tale woven by the oil companies, it's been around for years, yet nobody in the industry ever quotes it anymore.

The real benefit comes when you can take a plug in hybrid, or all electric vehicle and plug it into a local renewable source, like a rooftop solar array on your carport. We are in the process now of expanding our existing solar array on our home to accomodate the next vehicle we purchase, which I hope is a plug in hybrid. Just waiting to see what is on the market when the time comes. In this case, the transmission losses are zero, the car emits zero, and so does the solar array. The only energy involved is in actually building the car and the solar panels. Anyone can do this by the way, many places sell prepackaged solar electric systems that tie straight into your homes existing wiring and "assist" in making power for your home. In the end a portion of your electricity comes from the sun, and your electric bill is lower. This works whether you have an electric car or not, but if you do, then you truly do have an emission free vehicle.

You will also hear arguments against renewable electric sources like solar and wind because someone read an article that says it takes more power to manufacture a solar panel or wind turbine that the device will generate in its lifetime. First of all, this is not true. The embodied energy in these devices is generally recouped in the first 3 years of their lives. But in reality it doesn't matter. Stand a solar panel next to a coal fired plant someday and ask yourself which one earns back its embodied energy faster. The answer is the coal plant never does. We forget that when you build a fossil fuel fired plant, no matter how efficiently you build it, it now needs to be fed fuel for the rest of its life, which in "converts" into electricity at some rate less than 100%. In the end it digs itself a deeper and deeper energy hole that it can never crawl out of.

It's good you and other people ask questions like this, its the only way to keep other people in line and help us do the right thing as a society. Keep after it, and take care, Rudydoo

What is the difference between USB car radio and USB car radio with iPod support?

Virus

The question is simple: What is the difference between a USB car radio and a USB car radio with iPod support?

If someone owns an iPod and plugs it to a regular USB car radio, what happens? What are the benefits of purchasing a USB car radio with iPod support (more $$$) compared to a regular USB car radio?

Neither Sony nor Pioneer gave me an intelligent answer:
-Sony said that Iâm better off with the USB only as it is compatible with many devices, whereas the iPod USB is LIMITED and ONLY compatible with iPods/iPhones.
-Pioneer said that if I plug an iPod to a USB only radio, it will randomly play songs without me having any sort of control (scrolling, skipping songs, browsing through folders), unless I buy a special 30$ cable â and suggested that I go to a store and test it there with the salesperson just in case anyway.

(Big applause to Sony and Pioneer technical help teams!)

Answer
The USB only will view whatever is connected to it as a storage device. ie; USB jumpdrive etc. In some cases you will still have to control the iPod or iPhone manually.
The USB / iPod, iPhone support radio will allow you to control all the functions from the radio. Example you could get a unit that has this feature on the back of it and put the cord through to the glove box and connect it to the iPod and leave it there with the glovebox closed.
I hope I helped better than Pioneer and Sony's tech support.

EDIT This info will help you understand better ( sorry I didn't get back with you )
iPod/iPhone Direct Connection: The Pioneer DEH-330UB's front-panel USB port can be used to connect your iPod/iPhone to the headunit, via Pioneer's dock connector-to-USB cable (130CDIU50, sold separately) or the dock connector-to-USB cable which comes with your iPod/iPhone. The DEH-3300UB supports audio playback, music navigation, information display, and charging of your compatible iPod/iPhone.
iPod/iPhone Audio Playback: The USB connection allows your iPod/iPhone's stored music to be loaded instantly to the headunit and sound quality to be maximized through the headunit's 24-bit D/A converter, allowing for a Signal to Noise ratio up to 94dB. The Pioneer headunit supports audio playback of music, podcasts, audiobooks, and apps stored on your iPod or iPhone.
iPod/iPhone Control: You can choose to control the iPod/iPhone from the headunit or from your iPod/iPhone's clickwheel or touchscreen.
Music Browsing: You can browse your iPod/iPhone's music library by Artist, Album, Song, Genre, Playlist, Composer, Podcast, or Audiobook. Once you have selected a category, you can search each category alphabetically.
Link Search: In addition, the headunit offers Link Search, which allows you to play songs related to the currently playing song. Link Search lets the headunit can create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, or an album list of the currently playing genre.
Random & Repeat: You can also select random and repeat functions for a certain song or specific folder.
iPod/iPhone Display: The headunit will display your iPod/iPhone's music file information, including - Track number, Folder number, Elapsed playing time, Song title, Artist name, and Album title.
iPod/iPhone Charging: The headunit's USB connection will power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone battery when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position.
Note: If your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it.
iPod/iPhone Compatibility Chart: The Pioneer DEH-3300UB is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model functions (as of Dec. 2010):

Is this a craigslist car scam?

Rachel305

so i was on craigslist today looking for a car that has a reasonable price cause im tight on money i just had a baby last month and im also not working now cause i have to take care of my son or noone else will... well the point is that i ran into this ad on craigslist it said that they had a 2005 acura tl for only $2799 so i emailed the person asking them a few questions about the car and this is the email i got back from them (well her, she claims to be a woman, and lives in atlanta georgia and shes selling the car supposively cause she divorced her husand and the car brings back too many memories) please tell me is this a scam?

please read the email:

Hello. I want to thank you for the interest you have shown in my car. I'll to start off by telling you that I'm from Atlanta, GA, I'm 33 yrs old, one child and was married for 6 years when my husband told me he wanted a divorce. I want to sell my car as soon as possible because it connects me to many memories of him. The final price for the car is $2,799, I'm pretty sure it is a reasonable price and i want to let you know that I didn't drive it much and when I did, i kept it clean and never had any accidents with it. The engine it is running in perfect condition, the exterior it has no scratches or any flaws of any kind.
Year: 2005 Mileage: 75,208 miles VIN: 19UUA662X5A031740 Exterior color: White Transmission: Automatic
MPG: Great gas mileage: Highway - 34 MPG, City - 28 MPG, Combined - 31 MPG (*Fuel economy.gov). Perfect for the city.
Oil was changed every 3,000k miles. Transmission was serviced aprox 2 oil changes ago and is in perfect condition. Tires were replaced about 8 months ago. Tires are only 10% used.

The price, $2,799, it is including title transfer. I have worked a lot with eBay so I'm going to sell my car through them. It's the only thing that i can put my trust into, 100%. Let me explain you how it works, if you are not popular with this process. First of all I will be needing the following details from you: your Full Name, your Address and your Phone Number. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay. They will process your info and send both of us an invoice. The invoice will come to you with the details on how to make a refundable payment. As soon as you send the money and fax the payment information to eBay, i will receive an email with the payment confirmation in order to ship you the car. You will receive the car in 3-4 working days and you will have 5 days to test and verify it. As you can see, you will receive the car BEFORE any money is released to me. If, for some reason, you disagree with the car it will be shipped back to me on MY EXPENSE and eBay will send your money back. You will receive the title of the car with the car, with your name on it. I have a free Carfax if you want to take a look, copy of the original title of the car and eBay car inspection.
I hope things are clear for you of the process it is working and I'm waiting for your email.
Here are some pics of my car:

the pictures were never really there anyways i tried downloading them and when i did they never showed up.
thanks everyone! im def NOT buying this

Answer
100% scam.

There is no car.

There are stolen pictures of someone else's car.

There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

The next email will be from another of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the "eBay car shipping company/agent" and will demand you pay for "shipping costs", in cash, and only by Western Union or moneygram.

Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his 'potential sucker' list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don't bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn't worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

If you google "fake car shipping scam", "western union shipping fraud" or something similar you will find hundreds of posts of victims and near victims of this type of scam.

Geico Car insurance online quotes?

jason_nars

when going online with geico car insurance and getting your quote with your drivers licence included in the quote and you proceed to checkout is the quoted price what you will pay im just curious if anyone has experience with geico

Answer
No. your quote is not accurate. Every company will still ask for your DL number, your real age, your real address and so on. Everything you do with quotes online will still be verified with the states insurance database. When you "proceed to checkout" they will now run your records, and re-calculate your estimate. You would be better off calling a local agent like Allstate. They can offer more discounts than the computer, or a call center. If you said you are a Homeowner, and not, the quote online gives you the discount for buying your Homeowners Insurance through them. Geico doesn't sell Homeowners Insurance in my state. So this discount would not apply. I you said you were 42, and actually 19, it will be found out. You may get a hit (for inaccurate info) and be charged higher rates than being honest. Just saying.

Totally outrageous car insurance quote?

xandera

I had some issues paying my car insurance and it was cancelled. I called by ins company today to renew it. They told me they couldn't renew my policy but they have a buddy company that can give me an insurance policy. So they get all my info and they quoted me 730 dollars a month!
I understand I have bad driving history and I let my insurance get cancelled, but that doesn't seem right at all, I was paying 100 dollars a month before. That doesn't even seem like a real number to charge someone for car insurance, it's more than I pay for rent!

Answer
Apparently they have decided to place you in their companion company which is their "high risk" division. This is standard procedure after being canceled. As for whether the premium amount is too high or not. The only way to see if it is in line is to get quotes from other companies.

I have a very strong hunch that they would rather not insure you at all, hence the high premium.

I want to sell my car! What do I do in the UK?

C h e e z

I've done my MOT testing but I have no clue on what should be done in the UK? Ownership transfer? Test driving with a potential buyer? How to research the selling price? DVLA regulations? Please help! Thanks!

Answer
To sell the car privately, please see my earlier answer on this subject; http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ahkj3CDG1MTDZRi6n_Zv2H7sy6IX?qid=20061127083616AAGSdVS&show=7#profile-info-4a58acbf599956ee8785f20b34678fbeaa

First you neet to research the competition. Buy an autotrader or go to www.autotrader.co.uk, and look at what prices cars like yours are going for. Then decide on your price eg. go cheaper if you want to sell quickly etc. I would try selling it through the autotrader. You can do this online, or just phone them up and they will send a rep round with a camera and take your order, including helping you with the wording.

Depending on the price point of your car and whether you decide to sell privately, make sure the servicing is up to date and the tyres are in good nick, and spend some money having it thoroughly valeted.

Not knowing how expensive your car is... if it is under £1k then I would try the local paper, motoring section or eBay. Either way Autotrader is a good place to start for selling privately.

If you do not want the hassle then go to a garage and see if they want to buy it from you. Pick a garage that specialises in your type of car. So if you have a VW Golf for example, find a used car garage that specialises in these cars. You are more likely to get a fairer price and they are more likely to want to buy it. It will be less that what you would get privately but it is hassle free.

I would say that now is a bad time to be selling a car. If you can wait until the new year then I would.

Steps to registering a car back to its old UK plates.?

Matt

Does anyone know what the steps are to get a British car that is on foreign plates back to it's old UK plates?

Thanks in advance
If I can't get my old plates back, would it go on a Q plate?

Answer
Go to the dvla website for the info - as said
I don't think you will be given the original registration, it may have been reallocated, you could ask but you would have to pay extra, I think its nearer £100 to re-register .

What can I do to make my newsletter better?

meowmeow

Twice a month I make a newsletter for my avon catalogs. I feel like its kind of boring though. All it does it list items I think they should buy and good deals of the catalog. Once I marketed a muffin pan and featured a recipe for my famous pumpkin muffins, but that's really as creative as I have gotten. What else do you think would liven up my news letters?

Answer
Well, not knowing your audience, I think a joke will always attract people and they will always read the joke... and they may then share the newsletter then with friends. Another trick that I've used is to insert simple logic puzzles... not too complicated, but enough to get them interested and the next month give the solution. You can do this by getting a logic magazine with simple puzzles, reword the puzzles to use different scenario, rearranged questions or statements so that you're not just copying what you found. Puzzles are fairly generic and it would be difficult to claim ownership to a puzzle. Tricks like this cause people to always read the newsletter. You might also include a famous quote with question on 'who said that?' and answer the following month. In summary, you want material in the newsletter that is not selling goods.... that causes people to read it even when they aren't thinking of buying stuff and ensure that they never delete it without reading it. And... short recipes are also good and you might even encourage readers to send you a favorite recipe of 5 items or fewer and you could list the recipe and submitter's name... Another possibility is to ask readers to tell you their favorite Avon product and why and offer a token gift for best submission. Be sure always to include a brief personal item of light humor to help readers identify with you as a person and not just the Avon rep... e.g., your child's first day at school, the dishwasher broke, your car makes a funny noise, your hay fever is acting up... doesn't really matter.... just a brief bit to introduce the newsletter... letting them read that personal bit first. and you will find that you have fun doing the newsletter and you may later find that some of your customers are keeping old copies... :) Yes, I'm a writer...

what university in the philippines have invented solar cars?

axl c

Answer
Yup its DLSU-Manila. The solar car named "SINAG" made its public debut in September 1,2007. " The event featured a video presentation chronicling the experiences and challenges of DLSU-M faculty and students during the
development and construction of Sinag. It noted
as well the significance of the project in the
development of research on solar technology in
the country, and the varied assistance from the
major sponsors. Sinag, which will mark the countryâs
groundbreaking participation in the 2007
Panasonic World Solar Challenge this
October, is proof of the Filipinoâs ingenuity
and knowledge on solar power technology.
It will travel across the Australian Continent
from Darwin to Adelaide, which is
approximately 3,010 kilometers long." Text taken from the DLSU Newsletter dated 10 SEPTEMBER 2007. VOLUME 39. NUMBER 08. 12 PAGES downloaded from http://www.dlsu.edu.ph

why is the Singapore dollar so strong?

bazbsg

When I look at what it costs to buy things in Singapore (SG) in SG dollars and compare that to what it costs to buy similar things in the USA with US dollars, I wonder why the exchange rate of the SG dollar is so strong. Housing, cars, groceries, restaurants, hotels, electronics all cost more in SG. I would have thought the exchange rate was basically a matter of the cost of goods in the different currencies. What other factors affect the exchange rate between currencies in general and what factors are making the SG dollar so strong in general?

Answer
Housing and cars are two things in Singapore you cannot compare to other countries. Because of its extremely small size, Singapore is very short of land, but the population is growing, so the property prices keep rising, which means that as time goes by, only the rich can afford private housing. About 75% of the population live in government subsidised housing. Also due to the lack of land space coupled with a dense population, the roads are clogged with traffic jams, so the govt slaps a very heavy charge to own a car, trying to drive down the car population. It costs a lot less to buy the same house or car in the US.

However other things are relatively cheap, like electronic goods and food (apart from expensive restaurants).

As to the exchange rate, perhaps this article would help:

Do cold showers help keep skin moist?

The Maveri

Every time I take a warm or hot shower, my skin comes out very dry and itchy and my hair is dry and fragile.
I've heard that cold showers help retain the oils on your skin that keep them soft and moisturized.

So do cold showers help with that? What are your experiences?

Answer
Too much soaking in the sun, tub or pool ARE SKIN'S worst enemies.

Use warm water if you have dry skin.

Eating good healthy foods helps the skin heal, also. My hubby has high cholesterol, so he always like the sun and take a hot shower, 4-5x a week. But because of his good genes, his skin is never dry!
My hubby have been eating the same types of foods for 40 years, but I just avoid to eat less lean meats or fatty foods and eat more fresh fruits & veggies.

Google: FIVE FOODS TO EAT FOR BEAUTIFUL SKIN
All the vitamins & minerals you need for good skin care comes from all the healthy foods you eat from Mother Nature.

I also have Discoid Lupus - a skin disease my dermatologist told me caused from the sun, so I've been protecting myself by using blanket in the car, a wide brim hat, or umbrella when I'm outside.

As for your hair: heat & chemicals are hair's worst enemies.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" http://www.foodforhealthyhair.com/ http://sg.news.yahoo.com/food-for-healthy-hair.html - or 10 Best Foods for Your Hair.
http://www.channelstv.com/home/2012/07/03/10-best-foods-for-your-hair/
NO MATTER which link you picked, they all suggest the same foods. Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

Washing less often, builds the natural oil your hair needs, to get them smoother, shinier, silkier, softer. Man-made products are just temporary, until you wash them again, and at the same time washing off the natural oil your hair NEEDS. Hair products just absorb on your hair if they're dry, like a sponge.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. on a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2" scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. Then 2x a year, get a good hair cut. This won't speed things up, but it will make the hair look healthier while it's growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling. Hormonal changes can have a big effect on hair.

i have a car insurance question.?

PBALLA

about how much would it cost for a 16 year old boy in california todrive a 2004 silverado access cab? please give me a quote and not a website.
i know it will be exspensive but we got a 2004 v6 mustang quoted and it was of a price we could afford so i was trying to see if this would be more or less.
okay let me refine my question. woulde a 2004 mustang v6 cost more then a 2004 5.3 litre v8 silverado.(access cab)

Answer
Let me redefine my answer - - - - The time its taking you to redefine your question you could of gotton the quotes based on the information i bothered to provide !

You need to run through the entire risk to get a quote,

Reg number
Zip code
Driver details,
Claims in past years
Convictions
Job
ETC ETC ETC
No 16 year old is exactly the same risk... No vehicle is the same engine sizes specs..... 2004 is a year a quick search shows there are more than one engine size available....
You cannot get a quote from just that info provided and any company that gives you a price is over quoting because they do not want the business.

Looks like you need to do some research yourself with all of the information.....
Thats going to mean going to websites which you have already dismissed ;)

Blunt but true unfortunately -

Maryland Car registration?

Yahooer

I cannot take time off to go there to register my car, is there a way to mail-in registration? I check the website( http://www.mva.maryland.gov/Hours-Locations/harfordcounty.htm ) it is open, but Saturday is for license service only.

Thanks.
Not for renew.

Answer
ADD: This is fr the page on titling a new car: "You can apply for a Maryland title, and registration, in person at any of the MVA's full service branch offices. You also can mail the documents to the MVAâs Out-of-State Title Unit, 6601 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, MD 21062, or go to an MVA licensed tag and title service where they will assist you in applying." You need to check the second link below for full instructions. Obviously you only have 3 choices so you'll have to pick the one that's least inconvenient. Best wishes.

Is this for renewing a registration? I just renewed my husbands car on line, my Mother-in-law's as well. I went to the DMV in Annapolis for mine. They don't do renewals in person at all anymore. They have a kiosk w touch screen for you to do it---self service. Have your credit card & if you forget your paperwork that came in the mail like I did you can get all the required info from your registration (the one usually kept in the glove box).

There are private Title Service Agents that will handle everything for you for a fee. http://www.mva.maryland.gov/Vehicle-Services/REG/titleagents.htm

This page tells you how to title a car in MD for the first time & it can be done by mail. Good luck. http://www.mva.maryland.gov/Vehicle-Services/REG/NewtoMd.htm

I've got 4000 and I need a car! What to do?

Justin

I'm a college student and I have a part time job. I have car now but it is a piece of crap and it won't last me too much longer. I want to use the 4k as a down payment for something really nice but I have a couple of tickets on my license and I am afraid of getting smashed by the insurance. My current car is under my father's name and the poor guy has horrible credit so getting the new one in his name is out. What should I do?

Answer
College (young)
Poor
Ticket
No co-signer.
===
You are not give us much to work with. Your best bet is to shop and shop to get a MECHANICALLY great car, but with body that's all beat up. I drive such a car. Here in NYC, cars get beat up (the body) because everybody parks so closely. But my engine and tranny drives like news.

So these kinds of cars are CHEAP (under $4K) but will last another 100k miles (assuming you do your regular maintenance).
====
MSNBC had a news story on where is the best places to buy used cars. The used car dealers were on the BOTTOM of the list. They are pros at negotiations (and you and I are rank amateurs), they are pros at hiding problems on their cars, etc.

The private sales (newspaper, etc.) were the best places. The seller will not tell you all the problems, but they don't know how to hide them.

And a private seller are at MOST they are equal in negotiation skills to you and me.

====
Here's some rules you should consider when buying a used car

(1) don't get sold on the paint job = meaning cars having good exterior, fancy CD radio, etc.

(2) look for car with sound ENGINE + TRANNY + SUSPENSION.

(3) test every button, knob, switch, slider, etc.. Ex: even in the summer test out the heater & even in the winter test out the AC (if you can). Slide the AC/heater to fan1, fan2, fan3, etc. then slid the vent to defrost, front, bottom, etc. Test the high beam, low beam, etc. Test (flip) the visor. Test the alarm. Test all 4 doors. Test the rear defogger.

***** TEST EVERYTHING.

(4) BEFORE the first start, open the engine bay and see if the engine is already warmed up. Many engines starts well when already warmed up, but may have problems when cold (or cold start).

(5) test drive with the sound system off and window down. Listen for weird sound coming from the wheels & suspension.

(6) Look inside the engine bay to see if you can see see leaks, etc. It is normal to see some oil and grease. But too much means that the car is leaking oil somewhere. Too clean (really clean) means they just wash the engine bay - possibly hiding some oil leaks.

(7) check the engine oil dip stick. If the oil is BRAND NEW CLEAN, the seller MIGHT be hiding something. If the oil is jet black and /or smells like gasoline (or burnt), you might have engine problem).

(8) once you are satisfied with the above - you can NOW take it to the mechanic for the engine + tranny + suspension inspection. He won't find everything, but he will find the obvious. Take it to a mechanic EVEN if you are buying from a used car dealer. They cars are NO better than cars you buy from ebay and craigslist.com. Just more expensive.

US Army MPs vs. US Air Force SFs Benefits?

What are the educational and monetary benefits/ opportunities of an us army mp vs. air force security forces personnel? I know that all pay is standard throughout the entire military when only rank is considered (e.g. all E-4s get the same initial pay, but not the same as all E-5s). Any and all information is appreciated.

Answer
The Army moves up in rank faster, but takes rank away faster. I was in Honduras and a guy lost rank for walking outside of a building and he didn't put on his hat. How in the hell do you lose rank for not putting on your hat. That would never happen in the Air Force.

But anyway the Air Force has better housing, food, quality of life, dorms, job, work environment, and is more technical then the Army. It is also harder to get into because it has higher standards.

The Army takes anyone. They also deploy more.

You also need to reconsider being an cop. It is a bad job. It has the highest deployment rate (think about it, what do you need in Iraq and Afgan? Fighters and security. Also to be fair in the AF your work schedule is harsh. You work 5-6 days 12 hour shifts working on the flighline guarding an aircraft. Allll by yourself. It is so boring about twice a year guys kill themselves and it makes worldwide AF news. Or you are checking ID cards all day at the gate. You have to move up in rank and be in about 7 years before you can sit in a patrol car and cruise the base, which is what everyone wants to do. Overall just a crap job.

how come libs dont have fun shows like fox news or talk radio?

Q. fox news and sjhows like rush limgbough are so fun to watch. but msnbc is so boring. no one cares if they educated and they talk above my head. why wont demorats get a fun talk show like fox news.

Answer
Ever listen to Stewart or Colbert?

Also, there are some great shows on NPR (even if it does have a liberal slant) like This American Life (number one downloaded podcast on iTunes) and Car Talk.

Although, I must admit that the idiot things they say on Fox are pretty entertaining.

Best podcasts [twenty characters]?

Legs

I'm in my truck for a few hours everyday. For the last few months I've favored audio books and podcasts in lieu of music. I like typical liberal public radio variety like This American Life, The Moth, Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me and Car Talk as well as PBS News Hour and The Rachel Maddow Show.

What are your favorites? I'd love some suggestions.

Need suggestions on a car for tall person that has kids or info on toyotas if anyone has one ?

baba02703

I am looking to buy a new car. problem is I am a leggy six feet tall and I have small kids. so I need a car that will have enough room for me yet not take up all the room in the back seat. I need room for the kids. I don't have alot of money to spend. Can afford up to 16 grand max so I am looking at an 2008 or 2009. I am interested in the toyota or maybe a hybrid of some sort. right now I drive a 2004 Altima but I want to a newer one. In that car I never use all the trunk space plus my little one always kicks my seat when I drive because I have to put my seat all the way back. I cant afford a newer Altima besides I think they are just too big and I want better gas milage.

Answer
Minivan. Doesn't matter which one.

Hmm, gas mileage is an issue for you. Okay, the Fit fits people pretty well. The Mazda5 is a sneaky minivan - it looks like a zippy tall wagon but it has three rows of seats (they're kind of loose with that "rows" bit)

Get a new Malibu. They're roomy inside, plenty of length for your legs.

My 16 year old daughter wants a new car for her BDay, any advice?

MaHaa

My daughter is very responsible, takes care of herself (she's a diabetic), does well academically and socially in school, does chores as part of our family without having to be asked and chooses to earn her money, instead of looking for hand outs. She is a great kid and it is now time for her to get her 1st car. She has done her research, research that has not only informed us (her parents)in depth but the research was done totally on her own. She presented us with cost, taxes, title, and insurance, what the vehicle got for miles per gallon,....basically she worked out a budget for herself. My question lies within the following, she fell in love with the Toyota Camry Hybrid and I have to admit, she loves it for good reasons. I do not know much about the car ,or the pros and cons to owning a hyrid of any sort. Any information regarding hyrids, their safety history, what kind of vehicle your kids drove for thier 1st car,etc anything that can help this very proud but very nervous Mom
You all are great and the comments are appreciated more than you know. One thing you need to know, my daughter has been saving her money for her 1st car for 1 1/2 years now (with her babysitting $) and starts her 1st retail job on Monday. Her father and she have the following agreement:If you put your entire check in the bank to save, in return Dad will match every cent you saved for your car...plus give you an extra $20 for weekend spending $" She is a great kid! And very responsible. But is this too much?

I just don't know if this is a safe car and if buying her oone or actuall
My daghter has been saving money for her first car by babysitting, doing odd jobs around the heighborhood, and has put every single penny in the bank. For that reason, we will match the amount she has saved.

Answer
the HyCam is a GREAT car, but it's way too much for someone her age. this is a very high end toyota, with all sorts of luxury add-ons that most 16 year olds would never dream of.

she needs to drive a used car for a while at first, i didn't get my first new car until i was 22, financed it under just me and my husband, we are much more appreciative of it. you need to set lower standards at first for her to let her aspire to better things and make her work for them, rather than setting her at the top right away. 16 is just too young- i was also quite responsible at 16, i was fully supporting myself while going to high school, working 35 hours a week, and saving for college. but i was not ready for a brand new car (as much as i really wanted one). i drove an old, crappy buick until after i finished college. and i was happy to do so now that i look back.

in summary, you DO NOT need a new car at the age of 16. how about a used prius or a used camry? they are also great cars, highly reliable if maintained correctly, and very safe.

just for some hybrid safety info, the HyCam is equipped with side, side curtain, front, and driver knee airbags. the prius is equipped with all of the above minus the knee. the high voltage system cuts off in the case of an accident, so that there are no problems with safety in an extraction. i've seen some nasty accidents with the prius that people have survived with minimal injuries. the passenger cage is amazing. i'm sure the camry hybrid has a similar cage structure.

seriously though, that car is way too much. i hope you consider other options.

Are there any car GPS navigators that don't require a monthly fee?

Carl

Answer
There are no fees for using GPS systems the only monthly fee is for traffic and weather news and such, but the actual calculating of your position is free....The unit does the position calculation through micro waves it receives from various available satellites...Heres a quate from Wikipedia "The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) developed by the United States Department of Defense and managed by the United States Air Force 50th Space Wing. It is the only fully functional GNSS in the world, can be used freely by anyone, anywhere, and is often used by civilians for navigation purposes.".....Red@navyseals.com

Cubans are just getting mobile phones?

Junk!

Did you know this? Thank goodness I was lucky enough to be born into such basic freedoms. Amazing. Anyone else have and interesting news to share?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23850623/
Sun., March. 30, 2008
"The decree came a week after a resolution promising consumer goods including PCs, DVD players, car alarms and televisions of all sizes will go on sale in state-run stores Tuesday. Those goods previously could be purchased only by foreigners and companies."

Answer
Mobile phones were things which enterprising Cubans used to persuade people to bring in for them. I wonder if there will be any relaxation on the use of the Internet? Legislation was introduced 4 years ago making it necessary to have an official permit to be on line. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3386413.stm
Even if you are one of the fortunate few, you have to be careful: http://opennet.net/research/profiles/cuba
http://www.cybercuba.com/npa1.html:
'For a private citizen to have full illegal internet access in Cuba, the individual must have (1) a private telephone line (which is difficult to obtain), (2) an Internet access device, usually a personal computer with a modem, and (3) dial-in capability to the Internet for a monthly fee (about $35 per month). Private "black market" full internet access is one of the most rapidly growing areas of the underground Cuban economy. To offset this rapid growth of âblack market accountsâ or âaccount sharingâ to uncensored information by a private citizens, the Government of Cuba is placing more computers into public schools, opening and operating âCyberCafesâ (in Plaza de Armas and the Capitolio) and enabling widespread youth access to formal and Internet faciliated computer courses and a censored version of the Internet through universities, secondary schools, post offices and one hundred and fifty (150) socialist oriented, government supervised Youth Computer Clubs.'
Let's hope for better things very soon!

Have you seen a news story featuring concept cars of the past?

felines

Really very interesting. I was particularly struck by the fact that plexiglas was invented in the '30s. It is the component used in the windshield of Amelia Earhart's plane. On a South Pacific island they have found some that is the thickness and curvature of her windshield.
It was an Internet news story early Wednesday. I think you could look it up by googling "concept cars of the past"

The Amelia Earhart article was a week or so ago. I particularly remembered the plexiglas mention and was puzzled, because I thought it was a later development.

Answer
Which news story? I've read many old car books with the Concept cars, and yes, many had or used Plexiglas in the construction. Haven't heard any news stories on TV lately of the old show cars.

car subwoofer info help?

joe

so can someone like totally explain subwoofers to me like all about them in a somewhat simple way please thanks any help is greatly appreciated and i mean as a whole like the wiring amplifiers and anything i should know thanks

Answer
Ok, well if you know absolutely nothing about car audio, there are so many aspects to it. I've been into car audio for a little over a year now and I know a whole lot about it, but there is still so much I have to learn. Basically, for a simple setup, you will need a amp kit which consists of power wire, ground wire, and REM wire. You will need obviously, the amp and the subs along with a box that meets the subs specs. When purchasing amps and subs you will pay attention to the RMS power rating and always ignore peak, or max power. There are tons of videos & info on youtube, sonicelectronix, and crutchfield that give all sorts of usefull tips. Clubknowledge is another place with tons of usefull info, read the FAQs section and you'll likely find all the info you need there. Also check out some post's by users like myself, we ask questions and the more experienced members give great info and suggestions.

Good Luck!

AUTOSHOP ESSAY HELP!!(about nissan skylines) (car experts please!)?

nick

Ok so i am writing an essay for an autoshop class at community college and was assigned the Nissan Skyline. i am supposed to be covering R32-R34 and not r35, and there were two questions i need to cover, but when i took a second to gather my thoughts it turned out that besides knowing the technical specs and that sort of stuff i dont really know enough about the specific car to answer the following questions:

1.) What was it about your assigned car (skyline) that made it was a great performance car (and please do not include references to any hollywood movies)

2). knowing what you know aout your assigned car (skyline) if given the chance to go back in time to work on the production of the car, what would you have changed about PERFORMANCE ONLY that would have made the car an even more well rounded/higher performance car?

thank you!

Answer
Info is going to be little with the room on here so i will add a few bits then links so you can go deeper into an answer.

R32 Skyline was a great performance car when built as it was way ahead of its competitors,it proved itself during racing such at ones held at bathurst where the Skyline ruled the races that long that rules where changed to stop it taking part and confirming the Skylines Godzilla title.
http://www.southcoastnissan.com.au/automotive-blog/the-skyline-r32-bathurst-legend/

The engine in this car as well as other Skyline models from the none turbo to the single turbo engines placed a major role in the car being great mix ed with all the cars other features made for an ultimate weapon. more links below with more info.

Also the R32 Skyline saw the development of the Attesa system.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATTESA-ETS

Also see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Skyline_GT-R
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Skyline
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_RB_engine

The R33 Skyline was made bigger than the R32 as reasons where people wanted a bigger more roomy model and also rules where changing in the car market and a safer car was needed so the extra room was needed also to carry these extra safety features, also on release this was the fastest production car around the Nurburgring again look at links for engine upgrades etc

See also
http://www.middlehurst.co.uk/content/m_carsR33.aspx

If we move onto the R34 then we have a mix of an R32 and an R33 as owners felt he R33 lack the feel of the R32 and myself do get that as the R32 does feel nippy and around town it feels fast around every street although on the open road it did feel super fast put lack a raw feeling this is where the R33 alters it is also nippy around corners although does feel a lot less nippy than the R32 but once on that open road it feels like it has come to life and feels more raw like a wangan racer more than the R32 does.

So with those feeling felt generally the R34 was a mix of the power set low and high and the cars setup altered to allow the car to have the nippy feeling of the R32 mixed with the raw racer feel of the R33 so yes the R34 is a great car but you have to look at the facts that it took an R32 and an R33 to make it that way.

Back in time the R34 solved part of that problem with its mix of two already great cars but poor sales of the R34 and its high emissions led to the Skyline being redrawn up in the form of the V35/G35 model, with even the Skyline neo engine coming to late.So to save the Skyline performance was an issue with being able to make sure a great engine more eco friendly before its time and obvious points per model could have been altered to allow a better engine per model but these where met per each model.

I may add more later as it is after 2am here, also look at the links and find some angles deeper than i could do with my limited words on here.

Need car insurance help!?

PlantersCa

Weird/awful situation. Co-signed on car loan with a longtime "friend" when he broke off and started his own business. His business tanked, as did his personal life. Lost his job, his business, everything. He's now about a year behind in payments, and the bank is coming after me. Since it's destroying my credit (and life), I'm paying off the loan. The bad news continues. Apparently he loaned the car to his brother, that has disappered and isn't returning it, and the car is nowhere to be found. So now I own nothing. Worse, I'm terrified that whoever has the car could wreck it, and I'm liable. So now I have to get insurance, for a car I don't have possession of, and report it stolen. Who in the world would ever insure me????

Help! What do I do???????

Answer
I doubt that reporting the car stolen would work due to the circumstances. It won't hurt to speak with the cops though. Whose name is listed as an owner of this car? Don't let anyone tell you that you cannot insure this car. Since you have an insurable interest in the car, you should have no trouble insuring it. See below:

"An insurable interest means that the policy holder (or the beneficiary) must stand to suffer a direct financial loss if the event (against which the insurance cover was bought) does occur":.

What do you do from now on? That should be obvious. N E V E R N E V E R be a co-signer on a loan..... NEVER !

car insurance???

k

damn. i hit a car this morning. a brand spankin new one. i made a dent on the front bumper. I'm 21 and fortunately pay 50 bucks a month for full coverage insurance. does anyone know how much i will end up having to pay now??? she told me the damage was worth 1K+

some one give me good news :) I'm a hopeful girl.

Answer
The good news is that

1) Call your insurance... they will take care of reporting the accident and all the paperwork. You will need to give them a statement.

2) WIth full coverage, any damage to your car will be covered less your deductible. Any damage to the other persons car will be covered.

3) Minor downside is that if you have had other accidents, your premium may go up next year.

is that good news or not?
