New Toyota Car that Changes Color?

Q. So, I saw this on the news the other day, it was a car that changes color with a tap of the touch screen on the door. I was like, whoa, that doesn't seem normal, so I went to the computer, and couldn't find anything! Does anyone know what it's called? I'm pretty sure it's a Toyota.

Moving, how to set up your car info? Please help!?

kainrich98

Ok, im in the process of moving from Pa to Mi, and i know absolutely nothing about this.
First of all, my car is in my fathers name for the sake of my almost non-existant credit score. Im the co-signer and im still paying off the car with only one year to go. I know I need the title to the car in order to get the appropriate liscense plates in MI, however, my dads telling me that we dont receive the title until after the car is payed off? Im not sure if he's lying because ive been told that before by others but im pretty sure we shouldve received at least a temporary title.
On top of that, im guessing ill have to switch complete ownership to me. Where can i do that? Will it affect my payments? How much will it cost to change ownership of a vehicle?
Thanks for your time^^

Answer
1. Most all states do not issue a temp title anymore (less paperwork).

2. Since you will need a title file for a duplicate title before leaving.

3. Switching ownership will be something that you and your dad will need to discuss (big liability issues for your dad).

4. If you switch ownership then you will need to apply for credit and this will need to be okayed by the lien holder.

5. Yes your rates will increase because of your credit history.

6. Your insurance rates will also increase.

7. Part can be done at at the DMV and the loan portion can be done a the bank or credit union.

8. The costs for just the transfers will be in the area of around $500.00 to $1000.00 dollars depending the year, make and model of the vehicle.

How can someone change car ownership in CA?

Andy

Ok so this an issue I have. Last year December I had to pound my car and to take it out I had to come up with about 4,000 to take it out or lose it so I borrowed money from my current boss but came to an understanding that in 6 months I would repay him but then he cut my hours and made me sign a paper that said i had sold him the car for 4,000. At the time the paper just said the following I ..... sold this car to......for 4,000 dollars and car info.....without a date added. But after I signed it He added by Nov. i still have the pink slip but i'm afraid that if i don't pay him in full by the date He put I might lose my only way of transportation. My question is can he sell my car?
I had to pond the car due to financial house problems for my father. It wasn't my personal choice, the guy said that he wanted to help me and I Believed him unfortunately now hes saying he only wanted me to sign this paper because to scare my father into paying but I told him it was between me and him. It had nothing to do with my father. This just turned into an awful mess and I just don't want to loss what i worked for so long. =/

Answer
You need to get things in order in your life, for what ever reason you owe this guy, tell him NO he does not get the car, he cannot legally sell the car without the pink slip, you signing that paper will not help you later, but he may have to drag you into court and try to prove to the judge that its his car, when you tell the judge the real story, hewill look like a fool. However, what kind of guy is he, ?? does he do things by the law or not, you should know, you are working there.

Why people still do not use steam car washing?

Huar

Steam car wash Machine, Steam Cleaner for Cars

Answer
The steam car washing method differs from all the other traditional cleaning techniques:

1, It doesn't require fancy, bulky equipment to be done;

2, It doesn't make use of harsh chemical cleaning agents;

3, It can be used for both the interior and the exterior of the car;

4, It doesn't use a lot of water - a pint can clean an entire car effortlessly;

5, It can be conducted in the comfort of your own driveway, just like your regular family car wash.

Despite all the advantages, many people still have misgivings about trying it. It's understandable that car owners want to make sure that their cars will not get damaged during the cleaning process. Steam car washing is such a new technology that there are numerous doubts about its capacity to deliver efficient, high-quality results at the end of the day.

The biggest fear that both car owners and detailsave about using steam to clean vehicles is that it can't do the job well or worse, it will cause damage to the vehicle. But this couldn't be farther from the truth. After all, we have been using steam technology to clean fabrics, rugs and carpets for a long time now and this method has been proven safe and effective.
Steam car washing is good for both the exterior and the interior of your car.

Hand car wash steaming is also a great way to perk up your car's looks because it blasts away stubborn dirt, mud and grime from the surface better than soapy water or chemical agents. Your car's finish is also protected because the high-pressure steam doesn't mess up the paintwork or scratch the surface. Instead, it delivers high-quality clean that can last even longer than the conventional car wash clean.

Interior steam car washing is also excellent as different nozzles can be used to pick up dirt and dust from hard-to-reach areas like air vents, foot well and the small spaces between your dashboard buttons. Dusting and wiping down your car's interior regularly cannot get rid of allergens and germs that may have accumulated over time, but steam car washing can.

Best of all, you get a beautiful, clean and shiny car without causing damage to the environment. Most old-fashioned cleaning technologies rely on water and chemical agents to clean your car, so these are consumed in high quantities per wash cycle. With steam car washing, you only need a steam machine and a little water to do the job. That's certainly more than enough reason for you to try this new technology the next time you bring your car in for professional automobile detailing.

Our company is one of the leading companies specialized in steam car wash machines in China. You are welcome to contact us for eninquirynd cooperation.

i am looking for an inspectable car for very little or free..?

Leslie W

i just cracked the block on my truck and am a single mom with little $$$$ can anyone help me???!!!!!?????

Answer
MSNBC had a news story on where is the best places to buy used cars. The used car dealers were on the BOTTOM of the list. They are pros at negotiations (and you and I are rank amateurs), they are pros at hiding problems on their cars, etc.

The private sales (newspaper, etc.) were the best places. The seller will not tell you all the problems, but they don't know how to hide them.

And a private seller are at MOST they are equal in negotiation skills to you and me.
===
My 94 Civic can get 41 MPG (and I was doing 72 for the mileage test). The engine + tranny + suspension runs like new. It ain't no beauty but it is rock solid. If I had to sell it, I would not get more than few thousand dollars. This is the kind of car you want to look for.

Just take your time, as good old used cars are cheap but hard to come by.

====

Here's some rules you should consider when buying a used car

(1) don't get sold on the paint job = meaning cars having good exterior, fancy CD radio, etc.

(2) look for car with sound ENGINE + TRANNY + SUSPENSION.

(3) test every button, knob, switch, slider, etc.. Ex: even in the summer test out the heater & even in the winter test out the AC (if you can). Slide the AC/heater to fan1, fan2, fan3, etc. then slid the vent to defrost, front, bottom, etc. Test the high beam, low beam, etc. Test (flip) the visor. Test the alarm. Test all 4 doors. Test the rear defogger.

***** TEST EVERYTHING.

(4) BEFORE the first start, open the engine bay and see if the engine is already warmed up. Many engines starts well when already warmed up, but may have problems when cold (or cold start).

(5) test drive with the sound system off and window down. Listen for weird sound coming from the wheels & suspension.

(6) Look inside the engine bay to see if you can see see leaks, etc. It is normal to see some oil and grease. But too much means that the car is leaking oil somewhere. Too clean (really clean) means they just wash the engine bay - possibly hiding some oil leaks.

(7) check the engine oil dip stick. If the oil is BRAND NEW CLEAN, the seller MIGHT be hiding something. If the oil is jet black and /or smells like gasoline (or burnt), you might have engine problem).

(8) once you are satisfied with the above - you can NOW take it to the mechanic for the engine + tranny + suspension inspection. He won't find everything, but he will find the obvious. Take it to a mechanic EVEN if you are buying from a used car dealer. They cars are NO better than cars you buy from ebay and craigslist.com. Just more expensive.

good Luck...

1998 lincoln town car skips. no codes showing. what to check?

Carolina G

Answer
What do you mean it skips? We need more info.

Like the engine misses, where it doesn't fire on one cylinder? If that`s the problem, than its a coil pack.

I have a 1998 towncar touring sedan myself, and when I had a coilpack going bad which wouldnt throw the engine light. I bought an obd2 tester like in my sources, It allows you to check unconfirmed codes(pending faults).

In order for you to get an check engine light, the same problem needs to pop up two times in 90 seconds. If it doesn`t show up twice, than you dont get a check light, which is why you need this product.

It only works with Android phones, and you can download the program called TORQUE for free. All you need is the 25 dollar ELM 327, OBD2 V1.5 scanner which operates via bluetooth.

First video is a tour of the program, second video is the exact scanner I bought for my car. It took 6 days for my scanner to get to me from this seller.

How long do most car motors last? (miles)?

hello

im looking at a lot of cars right now at a cheaper price, i found mercedes for 8,000 and with 130,000 miles..... do you think that is a good deal? as well how many miles do most motors last?

Answer
To answer your first question: It is VERY subjective, meaning (and were talking used cars here) it all depends on how the previous owners(s) maintained the vehicle. Did they change the oil regularly? Did they beat on the car ie: floor it from a stand still all the time/take corners too fast/brake hard/jerky often? etc...Some would say that toyota/honda/nissan cars are better claiming the engines last longer, but most importantly its routine maintainance and driving habits that matter most. I have a 1999 olds intrigue that has 237,000 miles and it runs great mostly cause the previous owner took care of it and as problems arise I fix them in a timely manner. I can't answer your second question "mercedes for 8,000 and with 130,000 miles" simply because it is fart too vague. You are leaving out pertinent info: year? model? Keep in mind when buying a car like Mercedes, even if it is in good condition, and it is a good deal, you will end up paying FAR more in parts / labor to fix/repair/service it. Unless you make a lot of $$$ or are mechanically inclined concider an American/Japanese vehicle. Don't get me wrong, I love BMW, audi and Mercedes, but when they start getting up there in age & mileage ya gotta be prepared to possibly fork up some extra dough. Hope that helps :)

Will this rc car motor fit my car and is it better than the titan 12t 550?

Ben

Im looking to get this seeming as though im on a tight budget http://www.ebay.com/itm/Venom-1313-Fireball-17T-Double-540-Motor-/190601065928?pt=Radio_Control_Vehicles&hash=item2c60b575c8 and i was wondering if it will fit a Traxxas Bandit Xl-5 and weather it is better than the Titan 12t 550 motor.

Answer
You are better off staying with the Titan 12T 550 motor. It is faster. Read info:
"Motors are characterized by the number of turns and winds they have. 'Turns' refers to the number of times the armature wire is wrapped around the iron core of the armature. In general, the lower the turns, the faster the motor and the higher the turns the more torque the motor has. 'Winds' refers to the number of strands in the armature wire. Motors are available with one to four winds. More winds equal more torque; less winds equal more speed. Turns and winds are denoted in the following format: TURNSxWINDS. For example, a "15x2" denotes a 15 turn, double wind motor." Enjoy.

Report: McCain Has 13 Cars, Obama 1

September 21, 2008 9:57 AM

ABC News' Tahman Bradley Reports: After the brouhaha over Sen. John McCain's struggle to recall how many houses he owns, Newsweek wondered how many cars might be parked at the presidential candidate's multiple homes.

The weekly newsmagazine checked vehicle registration records for both McCain and Sen. Barack Obama and found that when you include the candidates' spouses, McCain owns 13 cars, Obama 1.

McCain has a 2004 Cadillac CTS, a 2007 half-ton Ford pickup truck, a 1960 Willys Jeep, a 2008 Jeep Wranger among other American cars. He's got a few foreign vehicles in his fleet as well, owning a 2005 Volkswagen convertible and a 2001 Honda sedan.

The only vehicle registered in Obama's name is a 2008 Ford Escape hybrid.

McCain's wife, Cindy, an heiress to a beer distribution company, has her name on 11 vehicles but actually only drives one car - a Lexus with the personal plates MS BUD.

Answer
I don't understand why you even believe this is important. Where the candidates stand on important issues is what counts.

It is no secret that Cindy McCain has wealth. Somebody in her family took the chance, started a business that employs others, paid taxes, and succeeded. Is that bad?

That's the American Dream. You can always move to France once McCain-Palin get elected.

BTW I took the risk of starting a small business 8 months ago, a two-bay auto repair garage and I actively solicit "fleet" work. Senator McCain is welcome to bring his 13 cars to my little shop in a small PA town for automotive repairs! I make a very modest living, I am open 7 days a week and work hard to succeed, but my partner and I also employ one other person and we spend money in this small town.

Why do you think G.M. stopped making its EV1 electric car ?

Q. Some suggest that G.M. -- which says it invested some $1 billion in the EV1 -- never really wanted the cars to take off. They say G.M. intentionally sabotaged their own marketing efforts because they feared the car would cannibalize its existing business. G.M. disputes these claims.

Will TESLA MOTORS new electric car meet the same fate ?
http://www.jalopnik.com/cars/news/mechanical-resonance-the-tesla-motors-press-intro-complete-with-governator-188590.php

Answer
GM was very clear when the program started in 1994 that they thought it would fail, and wanted it to.
*
As Matthew L. Wald wrote in a front page New York Times story (January 28, 1994):
*
"General Motors is preparing to put its electric vehicle act on the road, and planning for a flop.

With pride and pessimism, the company, the furthest along of the Big Three in designing a mass-market electric car, says that in the face of a California law that requires that 2 percent of new cars be "zero emission" vehicles beginning in 1997, it has done its best but that the vehicle has come up short.... Now it hopes that lawmakers and regulators will agree with it and postpone or scrap the deadline."
*
GM only made the car to comply with the California ZEV mandate. As soon as the mandate was killed, so was the car. They had no plans to build EVs beyond that, demand or not. Electric Cars are too disruptive to the existing business model. The first successful mass-market EV will almost certainly come from Asia, where many EV concepts are being worked on right now.
*
Regarding true demand for electric vehicles, a survey from 2003 Commissioned by the California Electric Transportation Coalition shows significant consumer demand for an electric car, if the right price target and range can be acheived. Up to one-third of car buyers expressed interest. Of special interest is that half of those buyers would still be interested even in the range of the vehicle were as low as 60 miles.

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/01/breaking-toyota-admits-270-000-cars-have-faulty-engines-worldwi/?flv=1

Answer
Nope, won't hurt sales a bit. Many people that buy Toyota Lexus and have the delusion that a Toyota can be worth 40 grand have the same mental disorder that makes a wife go back to an abusive husband so no matter what Toyota does or how many people die from Toyota engineering ineptitude (56 so far this year) they will still go back and buy yet another one.

Yea it is pathetic, I know.......

what nice car should i get.?

When i get into med school my father said he would buy me any car under 60 thousand. new or used. I like the maserati quattrope used. ANY IDEAS?

Answer
There are many cars that available that are right around your price range. You have a wide selection of both new and used cars. Used exotics are not the best choice when it comes to buying a used car, there are plenty of great new cars that would deliver you the performance you knowingly desire. The BMW M3 for example, it is in your price range and was ranked among the best handling cars in the United States or the Porsche Cayman S which was ranked by Car and Driver as the Best Driver's Car and it beat out the ZR-1, CTS-V and many other cars. But just recommending two cars will not do any good so here are some cars that are right up your alley:

News Cars for Around $60,000:
2009 Porsche Cayman S (RWD 0-60 4.3 sec) $61,000
2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 (RWD 0-60 4.5 sec) $57,000

Where can I get info on '88 to '94 Jaguar XJ6?

macvenom@s

I am interested in a late 80's to early 90's Jaguar XJ6. But, I'm confused about the difference between a Vanden Plas & a Sovereign. Is there a base model too? It would be great if you could tell me the differences, or point me to a web site that has this information.

Answer
The different trims the Jaguar XJ6 came in are as follows: XJ6 (base model), Sovereign, and Vanden Plas (most luxurious).

I'm not quite certain of my history anymore, but I believe the Sovereign was only offered for the XJ40 series car, and denoted the larger 3.9 liter straight six engine. For 1988 and 89, the XJ6 base model was saddled with a 2.9 liter inline six that Ford was quick to phase out of production.

The Vanden Plas edition cars were considered to be the highest-end; Vanden Plas is a coachbuilder in England, and the XJ6's that received the VdP treatment featured more luxurious leather interior points and upgraded wood trim (and of course the exterior badging). They also featured the more expensive engine option.

Now for the buying. The 1988 and 1989 XJ6 is the model that broke Jaguar. This particular model had so many recalls when new that it almost single-handedly drove Jaguar out of business. I see quite a few at my shop, and I can say of all of them but one that they are monsterously bad cars. They treat the owners badly.

For an 88 or 89, finding used major parts such as the ABS control module is nearly impossible--much less finding anything new, since Jaguar no longer supports those model years. I will caution you to absolutely stay away from those cars. Be careful to look at the VIN (vehicle identification number)--some 1988-89 XJ6's were altered to look like newer cars by the installation of the later-model square headlamps.

The 1990 and newer XJ6's, however, are a completely different story. We see many more of the 1990-1994 XJ6's at my shop, and I can say that they are vastly superior cars. They treat their owners well, are very reliable and parts availability is much better. They are both mechanically and electrically stronger than the 1988/89 XJ6.

Actually, if I were to recommend a car to you, I would have to direct you to a 1995 or 1997 XJ6. They may be more expensive than an XJ40, but they are mechanically and electrically sound and have a much better electrical system than the one used in the 1988 to 1994 cars. They are incredibly reliable, have a wonderful ride and are relatively inexpensive to fix.

Either way, you'd be making a good choice by buying a later XJ40 (1988-1994 car) or early X300 (1995-1997 car).

An excellent resource is the Jag Lovers website (http://www.jag-lovers.org). They have everything you could ever want to know about the history of Jaguar, can connect you with owners clubs in your area and are an invaluable resource when you need information on mechanical difficulties or simple questions.

Good luck and enjoy your Jaguar!

I'm a new car owner.?

...I mean im going to become one.But i don't know the whole process of buying a car.
And words like:Registration,Title,Insurance etc.,make me more confused. Can anynone explaing everything to me?

Answer
Registration is just a piece of paper that is with the state you are in with the info about the car and info about you on it. This is what allows you to get your license plates.

Insurance is what you have to pay legally on the car. Insurance allows you to pay in small payments all the time based on cars value, your age and driving record. This money isn't like kept in an account but just goes into a general fund. Now when you have an accident the Insurance company pays to have it fixed. Insurance is law cause most accidents are in the thousands of dollars for repair and few people have that kind of money laying around.

Title is the paper on the car, the main sheet. Shows the VIN (vehicle identification number) on it, who you bought it from, who you are, etc. You have a birth certificate...a title is like a cars birth certificate.

Sales tax will be the sales tax you pay on the car when you buy it. Like anything else you buy, gotta pay taxes on it.

If you are this unwise in buying a car, I would take an adult or someone familar with the process with you or a crooked salesman might talk you into items you don't need.

car burning oil & wont start? HELP?

Louis R

So i Just bought a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage that has 238,000 miles on it (I know thats a lot). The owner son drove it around a lot back and forth for hours without any problems ever (So i was told) so i bought it for $650 and my dad test drived it for me because i dont know how to drive a 5 speed and he felt nothing wrong with it even though he stalled out quite a few times.

The next day we drove back to the city where the car is (almost a 2 hour drive) and picked it up and it passed inspection and my mom drove it around for quite a bit going to the License plate agency and Auto zone where i bought some brake fluid for it, filled up the brake fluid, and checked the oil level, and it was pefectly full on oil. The only thing i couldn't check was the transmission fluid because there was no way to measure it until i got the car home so i can just change the fluid.

We began the 1 hour 45 minute drive home and part of the way there the car shut off when my mom tried to put it in 5th gear and the car choked for a little and couldn't turn it back on for a good 5-10 minutes. I assumed it was maybe gas so i filled up the tank at the closest station with 9.3 gallons (i guess it was close to empty!). we stayed at the gas station and my mom said it smelled as if the had " choked the car" i guess she meant stalling out and we waited a little because it gave problems starting and then it finally turned on. we left and traveled for 40 minutes with her on 4th and 5th gear going about 55-70 mph until i began to see a white smoke come out of the exhaust in little clouds then all over the back smoke was coming in the air vents (i was driving her car behind the Mitsubishi) and it smelled like exhaust and burning oil. My mom said the car began to want to shut off so she went from 5th to 4th to prevent it but it did turn off and we pulled over and under the hood there was white smoke smelling like burning oil coming from under the front part of the engine. We waited for the car to cool down and it stopped smoking but it wouldnt turn on and i couldnt abandon my new baby in a tow away zone so i pushed it with my moms car with a yoga mat she keeps in her trunk and we were able to push start it after a few attempts and we were hoping it would last to the next exit to park it somewhere in a mcdonalds and rent a dolley the next day to bring it home but we pushed our luck and continued to drive it until 10 miles later the same thing happened... so we gave up in pushing our luck and i pushed it with my moms car while she drve the Mitsubishi in neutral to a nearby store and went home so tomorrow i plan on picking it up after work ( just got hired its my first work day and im 16).

My dad believes it is a busted head gasket and that oil got into the valves causing burning oil but hes getting old and rusty as well as his skills so please fuel me with ideas on what might be wrong with the car! i don't have the money to be letting some random untrusted mechanic put his hands on my car.

PLEASE HELP

GET STRAIGHT TO THE POINT WITH AS MANY HELPFUL DETAILS. and what the cause of the problem may have been

Thank you so much for your time.

Answer
Get it towed to a trusted mechanic. Do not drive it. Check the dip stick. How much oil is in it now? Is the oil black or grey or a good clear color like it has just been changed? Does it look like oil and water mixed? Bad news. That means it is the head gasket, and the steam coming up also could mean that. When you check the dip stick, wipe it with a rag or kleenex so you put the dip stick in dry and clean to check the oil level. Does it look like water is in that oil on the dip stick?

Yes, the engine was flooded and so you had to wait a bit before it would start again. You pumped too much on on gas pedal, or the carb. is set too "rich".

You could have quite a repair bill on your hands. I just hope you did not crack the engine block or that's the end of it. Do you have lots of fluid in your radiator now?

You may also need a tune up with new plugs, etc. Check the oil lines, too, where they go into the brake cylinders of the wheels. If you had to buy brake fluid, you may have a leaking brake cylinder. You will see brake fluid that leaked under your car and alongside the wheels or maybe just one wheel.

Get an estimate from your trusted mechanic about how much he thinks the work will cost you, before he does anything. It may be more than you paid for the car and you might be better just to walk away from it. Get it to the garage by the dolly or tow truck, whichever is cheaper.

Sorry about your problems. Good luck. My knowledge of cars was gained by being around mechanics all my life.

You will probably hear from some mechanics here. I hope so.

What was China like in the 1990s?

L'Carpetro

Was it still significantly more Maoist and old fashioned than today or was it already pretty materialistic and Westernized? Did bikes still outnumber cars in 1999?

Answer
The Chinese GDP per capita was only 300 dollars in 1990.

In 2013, it's 8,271 by nominal exchange rate, and 12,472 by PPP (i.e. purchasing power parity).

Total GDP in China was only 200 billion dollars in 1990, in 2013 it's 9,372 billion dollars.... or 9.372 TRILLION DOLLARS.

In the 1990s, no Chinese own cars, in 2013, car ownership in urban area is UNIVERSAL. The Chinese buy 0 cars in 1990, they buy 20 MILLION in 2013.

In the 1990s, there was no express ways in China, in 2013, The Chinese express way (or highway) system EXCEEDED US INTERSTATE HIGHWAY BY 30% ! OR 97,234 KM, THE US HAS 78,281 KM.

In the 1990s, China was not industrialized, industrial output is lower than Canada... In 2013, THE CHINESE INDUSTRIAL OUTPUT IS 48% HIGHER THAN UNITED STATES. (Notice, United States is 15 times the size of Canada, in terms of Industrial output).

In the 1990s, traveling in China by train was miserable, it's no better than India... In 2013, The Chinese mainly take high speed trains that travel more than 300km/hr, in 1990, there were 0 km high speed raillines in China, in 2013, 70% of high speed raillines in the world are in China.

In 1990s, No Chinese travel abroad for tourism... In 2012 alone, 85 million Chinese have gone to foreign countries for recreation purposes, and spent 112 billion dollars abroad for tourism ! THE HIGHEST IN THE WORLD, OUTSTRIP THE DISTANT SECOND ... US BY 43% !

Literally 900 million Chinese people were lifted out of poverty because of CHINESE GROWTH.

The difference is HUGE, and remarkable to say the least. Look how far they have gone !

@WNL: YOU COULDN'T BE MORE BITTER, The very fact that negative news about China are freely reportable within China BY Chinese media shows degree of freedom is greatly improving in the country IN THE FIRST PLACE ! PERIOD !

@Liu: WRONG ! If only those who are connected with the government can get rich, how come 900 MILLION WERE LIFTED OUTTA POVERTY? ARE YOU SAYING THERE'RE 900 MILLION CHINESE WHO HAVE SPECIAL CONNECTIONS WITH THE GOVERNMENT??? ! PREPOSTEROUS ! BE PROUD, LIU, YOU ARE ALSO CHINESE, BE PROUD, AND BE A MAN !

@Sense: YOU REALLY HAVE NON-SENSE. Back in 1978, 95% of Chinese population lived under 2 dollars a day, in 2013, only 7.8% live under 2 dollars a day, in effect more than 900 MILLION WERE LIFTED OUTTA POVERTY. YOU JUST CAN'T DENY THE TRUTH.

@FREAKLY: Haters are always gonna be haters, I'm not gonna argue with you, it's very very sad that you choose to be a self-hating Chinese whereas actually trying to make the world a better place. RIP.

If you noticed, the teams first drivers' red strip on their on-board cameras are gone. Only the yellow ones on the second drivers are there. Any ideas on why is that? In my opinion, red and yellow is more ideal for better distinguishing of the cars.

What car should I get?

adskfj

I'm 17, and I want to start looking for the car that fit me: I like old American racing car (but not too old please), dark color, strong engine, a price that I can affort, if you saw the movie Faster and know the SS that The Rock drives than you know that I want something like that. My other option is a Ram truck, what do you think?

I need the car brand, speed, price and other infos if you can. Thank you :)

Answer
The car is a 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport... A classic American Muscle car... Base engine was a 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 although some had 454 ci V8s... Cars like these were plentiful when I was in high school, as was the 1967 Pontiac GTO... Mine were a 68 GTO and a 69 Mercury Cougar Eliminator...

These are definitely Old school rides... I remember working on my car all weekend to make it faster, cooler, or sound better, so that I could drive it to school on monday morning and Blow away the other hot rods during lunch...

Those were good days to be a kid, good clean fun and plenty to do...

Our cars were our lives, and of course our girl friends...

It's too bad that these cars are out of reach for most of us now... A good 72 Chevelle SS will cost around $25,000.00...

By todays standards these cars probably won't keep up with the technology of the newer cars, but they are definitely fun to own and drive...

As a first car, you might look into an older mid 70s Pontiac Trans Am or Chevrolet Camaro Z-28... These can still be bought in good shape for a lot less, but even they cost more than they did when they were new...

how do i become a car expert?

Q. By cars i mean sports cars: exotics, tuners, super cars. I'm currently 15 but as a kid from 4-7 years and again 9 i was obsessed with car makes and i knew the name of every car i saw. I always played games like NFS, Forza motorsport. My first racing game was Test Drive 6 when i was 4 years old. But now I want to know about the engineering of cars. And how to fix one up and what not. I am currently playing Forza Motorsport 4. What should i do to increase my knowledge in cars.
I don't live in a small town

Answer
Attend local car meets even if there nothing big, attend car shows and all those get talking to folks, but car mags and look up info on the net if you get the chance buy a cheap scrap car and strip it.

Games are a step to learn cars but if your not careful and i have seen friends whom play the games etc and feel they know all about cars and driving when they cannot even drive.

I have one lad whom keeps coming round my house to look around my Skyline and ask me questions. So do the same where you live if you see a car model that you like the look of.

Also go around car garages and see if they need help even passing parts or making tea after school and at weekends.

Can you identify this 1950's pedal car?

Answer
It looks like a Fire Chief Pedal Car, but its really hard to tell from the pictures. It looks like someone repainted it as it doesn't have the decals. The racks on either side at the back don't look right for the Fire Chiefs pedal cars and almost look like someone took a normal pedal car and tried to make it look like the fire chiefs pedal car.

It looks like a T-Bird pedal car someone modified and painted to be truthful, but I could be wrong.

Probably 1960's vintage given what I see on the front (grille and headlights) and you might get $50.00 for it from the right collector.

does anybody have an old 1950's car ?? I do looking to give and recieve advice?

Q.

Answer
There are a lot of 1950's cars out there waiting for restoration. If you get one pre-restoration, you'll find that there are some available at very reasonable prices.

Here are two good sites. You'll see that they cover the whole price range from cheap to "more than any sane person would spend."

1) http://ww2.collectorcartraderonline.com/...

2) http://www.buyclassiccars.com/ (good forums, good info about how to avoid eBay ripoffs)

If you are not in a rush, I would also follow cars for your area on craigslist.com. Since it is just a car selling site and doesn't specialize is expensive classics, many unrestored classics get sold inexpensively. But you may have to watch the site every day for a couple of weeks. There are a lot of opportunities out there if you are willing to settle for a driveable used car that hasn't yet been restored.

Good luck with this! I hope that you have a very exciting search.

buyin a car?

buying a car and i need to know what are the procedures to buying a car owner to owner? (paying cash)

Answer
Finding out what's wrong with that used car before you buy
Everyone buying a used car should get an Experian AutoCheck Vehicle History Report, they get data from a substantial number of dealers and aftermarket repair shops, nearly 5,000 sources. A mechanic can put the car on a lift and instantly spot previous crash damage, hidden frame damage, corrosion, and fluid leaks. But your mechanic can't tell you if your car title has been branded as a flooded vehicle, salvaged, junked, rebuilt, stolen, or passed through a salvage auction. Most mechanics overlook airbags. You can only tell how many owners that car had or where it's been with a history report, not just by looking at the car. This is not the time to 2nd guess. Unfortunately there are no clear laws if you sign an "As Is" paper. Any used car can have a bad past, Mercedes, Lexus, Honda or Toyota. Some municipalities don't supply accident report info, that's why you still need to have a mechanic look at it. If the police never made a report, it won't show up in the AutoCheck Vehicle History Report.
People ask "What's the Blue Book value of my trade-in?" The Blue Book value of your car is the market value listed in the Kelley Blue Book. Many people spell it wrong as Kelly Blue Book or Kelly's Blue Book or Kellys Blue Book or even NADA Blue Book or KBB. KBB started from a family owned used car business that bought trade-ins from auto dealers and used their internally generated list of used car prices to inform dealers how much the car was worth. They became trusted industry insiders and appraisers of car values. This led to Kelley Blue Book, named after the social register, called a blue book. The rest is history. KBB supplies used car prices to most car pricing sites. Dealers laugh when you tell them you know the Kelley Blue Book Value of your trade in. I think blue book car prices show trade-in values lower than other sources, which falsely leads you to accept less for your car then it is worth. Use other sites in addition to Kelly Blue Book to price cars. Most car dealers use the yellow NADA book to price used cars.
Start Working On The Seller
Have your partner be negative, pointing out every little item that erodes away at the seller's asking price, and confidence. A great tactic with huge psychological impact is to rub your finger over every major scratch or dimple, and shake your head no in disappointment. The car dealers use this all the time, so learn from the best. You don't have to say a word, the seller reads it right off your face, and you've set him up for the low ball offer. Have your partner write down all damage.
Ask for the maintenance records. Bet he'll have nothing at all. This is why I tell you to save every record, and oil change receipt in a notebook. Just add each new one to the end, and you have a nice history record. Now buyers of your car years later can't say you did not take good care of your car. Ask if the car has been in a wreck, staring them right in the eyes waiting for their answer. If the answer is yes, inspect the area that was repaired, and point out every tiny little flaw in that repair.
Test Drive The Seller's Used Car
Take the seller with you and ask questions when noises pop up. Listen for noises, rattles, or grinding sounds. If you hear rattling in the quarter panels, the car may have been in a wreck. If the car is a manual transmission, see if the shifting is smooth. Ask the seller if the clutch has been replaced, clutches fail after 4-5 years. This sets up the seller for a low ball offer. Most people are unaware that manual transmission vehicles have lower market values than automatic. Check the heater and the A/C, drive it in the daylight when the sun is hottest, to see how the A/C performs. Listen for grinding noises when the A/C kicks in, the bearings in the compressor are worn.
If the car has a voltmeter, make sure the voltage stays at 13.6 volts when the A/C is on. Bring a portable volt meter with you. Not everyone has one, many people do. You can get them for $20. Measure the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running, and the meter set to DC Voltage. The voltage should be at least 13.6 Volts with the engine running, and no more than 14.8 volts. If it's not, there is a problem with the charging circuit, most likely the alternator, which is a costly component, usually about $150 rebuilt. If the battery is not at least 13.6V with the engine on, the 12V battery will not remain charged, and will die soon.
Drive with the radio on and off. Test the speakers to see if they are cracked. Make sure the CD player works. Take the car on a highway, main streets, and side streets, see if the car loses alignment, or bears to the left or right. See how good the car brakes, drive sharply around some corners, and your companion is writing everything down. Make sure all the seat belts work, that electric seats work, look for missing or burned out bulbs inside and out. If the car has retractable headlights, make sure they pop up and turn on. Make sure the brake lights, reverse lights and directional lights work. Ask the seller when the brake pads were last replaced.

"What kind of research did you do to determine what your car is worth?
Show me your research printouts, I have all mine right here, where's yours?"
I bet the seller has no research may be arrogant and indignant over your offer. They are unaware their asking price is off base, they get infuriated with your "low ball offer", and may refuse to deal with you. They probably need the money, the car is taking up space in their driveway, their wife complains every day as he lets offers slip through his fingers. His pride won't let him sell the car at your price. He'll say, "why don't you buy one of those other cars if they are cheaper? If my car is not worth it, why do you want it at all?" It's their last ditch futile effort to justify their price. He's trying to divert you from the fact that he cannot justify his selling price. Any seller using this strategy has just told you he has no valid research on the value of the car. A seller who knows the market value would say "Here's my printouts from the car pricing sites, my price is in line with accepted standards". Tell him "We like your car, but the research we have shows that it is not worth your asking price", point out all the defects, lack of maintenance records, etc. Tell him the printouts specify a car in good condition. Point out scratches, dings, rust, carpet stains, cracked dash, justification to offer even less than the car pricing printouts. Keep hammering him for his research and justification until you are the clear victor of that debate.
