What does it mean to have recurrent zombie dreams?

P

I've been having zombie dreams periodically for about two-three years now. As for how recurrent, it's not weekly or monthly, but every now and then I'll wake up from a rather freakishly scary nightmare. I'll put in a few descriptions about some of the dreams I remember the most and try to keep them short, but I can't promise anything.

1- So there's this one I had at least two years ago, but I can remember it too well as I consider it the worst nightmare I've ever had D:

We were in a train station, because we knew that the zombies could not get in there. Some reporters approached me and the little group of friends I was at the station with and asked us whether we wanted to come down to some place and answer a few questions about the whole apocalypse thing. I didn't think it was a good idea at all, but the rest was going and I ended up coming anyway.

When we got outside I saw a teacher of mine turning into a zombie, so we hurried up to the car. I had closed the door when we noticed one of my friends wasn't in the car yet. She came running and crying, and started knocking on the door desperately begging that I would open it. I'm ashamed to say I didn't directly open it. I hesitated, and by the time I had finally chosen to open it, my now-zombified-teacher grabbed her from behind and the reporters sitting at the front sped up and drove away.

We got to some abbandoned-suspicious looking place. I remember I wrote a goodbye-message for my friends on the wall because I remember I had chosen to find a gun and kill myself. I didn't end up doing it because a bunch of other people showed up and we all left together, but I remember still wanting to give up on my life. It shocked me that I was so determined and sure about killing myself in this dream, as I have never felt like this in real life. I *have* been depressed at some point in my life, but never so far to that point.

2- The second is just to sum up what kind of nightmares I typically have. Usually I'll be escaping the zombies, sometimes with the company of one or two people. I'm always terrified of them and we don't seem to be on the winning side. I'm really negative about it. If the nightmare gets too bad I tend to realize I'm dreaming but, upon finding myself unable to wake up I might try and focus to erase them from the dream, usually successfully.

3-This one's the one I had last night. I dreamt I was at school when the news spread that there was a zombie attack going on in the city. Apparently there was some sort of optional military service my school had and many of my guy-friends were a part of it, since they never thought they'd actually have to do or go somewhere and it offered some sort of benefit for joining. My best-friend was in it and he didn't seem too concerned about it, while I feared for his life. Somehow I ended up in the school's entrance, where the zombies seemed to have been gathering. They couldn't get through because of the fence, so I took the advantage and finished them off by stabbing their skulls with big-ass knives. I didn't feel afraid at all, for a change.

Anyway. I'm sorry for the long text. Just in case, here's some personal info. I'm seventeen, I'm a girl, I like zombie movies and videogames (although I don't watch them too often), as far as I'm concerned I'm happy and sure of myself. I think... Lol jk. I'm not under any particular kind of stress that I can think of. I'm on holidays.

Thanks for the help in advance! And sorry for making it so long...
4- Now that I remember it... I've recently had another dream my bestfriend was at too. We'd been escaping zombies in this weird-building, when he left the group to see I-don't-know-what. I thought he'd end up getting himself killed, so I followed him. Turns out he got us to some stairs zombies seemed to be crawling up. These ones were rather stupider than the average zombie, so we sat still and they didn't notice us. One was crawling over my body, when she/it stopped to take a second look at me. I had some kind of zombie-poisonous-lotinon over my body, so she died because of it. But, regardless of how sure I felt about it, it took its time to die, which began to raise doubts in my head about whether I should get up and fight it or just wait there, at the risk of dying.

When they were dead, we got up and left for a safe train.

Answer
There is one website called dreammoods.com which interprets your dreams. I'm not exactly sure if it's 'reliable' or not, but this is what it says:
-To dream that you are attacked by zombies indicates that you are feeling overwhelmed by forces beyond your control. You are under tremendous stress in your waking life. Alternatively, the dream represents your fears of being helpless and overpowered.
-To see someone as a zombie implies that your feelings for them is dead. You have not emotional attachment towards them.

Andrew

Just wondering, I'm looking into buying another car after I graduate High School. and I was wondering how much insurance cost per month to own a WRX between those years. For someone who has just graduated and turned 18.

Answer
There are so many factors besides age and the type of car when they calculate insurance premiums so there's no way for anyone here to give you an accurate number with the info given. Just call some places to get free quotes. It'ss be much quicker and more accurate.

how to handle the dealer in buying preowned car for a lower price possible in cash?

cyril

I want to buy preowned car here in canada buti i'm afraid the dealer will make higher offer and put pressure on me. Since I'm buying it with cash i believe i have advantages like discouns or freebies.

Answer
Of course the dealer will do that, that's their job.

Cash might work against you, since dealers make money on financing.

You advantages are you can make a deal now, and the dealer has competition.

Your disadvantage is you'r not informed; that's a big one. Fix it.

Why are my car insurance quotes changing?

no info car insurance quote on Auto Glass Replacements: Replacement Auto Glass & Windshields in South ...
no info car insurance quote image

Tim G

I shopped for car insurance yesterday. Today I could not remember if I I forgot a company, so I did them all again because I was bored, all of my quotes went up with some, went down with others. I double checked and I didn't change any info. So I did 3 companies within 10 minutes of each other, and they changed again! I think they pull quotes out of a hat.

Answer
There are a lot of reasons a quote can change. If you put in just 1 small detail different, it can change your quote.

Also, some companies give an advance quote which can make your quote go down (ex: if u do quote today, but don't purchase for 7 to 10 days)

Your insurance score (somewhat like a credit report) can change making your rate different.

Not answering all the questions the same can make the rate change.

Some companies give discounts if you pay in full or EFT through your checking account.

So in other words, you have to put the information in EXACTLY as you did the first time. As long as your insurance score did not change, ur rates should be pretty close to your original quotes. Insurance scores don't usually change within 10 minutes, so my guess is you input something slightly different then you did the first time.

Why is there a huge difference in insurance quotes if all info is the same?

I'm shopping around for insurance quotes because I thought my car insurance was too high. Progressive gave me a very low quote, which I was happy about. It was what I thought I should be paying compared to friends I've talked with. All the other quotes from the other insurance companies were in the same price range and very high. I began to worry that Progressive had some incorrect info, so I called them back, we went over all the info again, and everything is right. They even emailed my quote to me and it's all correct. Should I be worried that the quote is so low or is Progressive just being competetive?

Answer
Doesn't matter. If they take your money and write you a policy (and don't say OOPS three days later) you should be fine.
You could just be falling into a specific underwriting model that Progressive uses. Count your luck!

i figure i would need the cars make, model. year, and vin. is that all?

All you really need is the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). CarFax will provide all the rest of the information. Your insurance agent will also need the VIN if you decide to buy the car.

What would be a decent settlement amount for a diminished value case involving my vehicle?

marilee111

I have a nice sports car, a 2004 model, but cannot disclose much more info than that as per agreement with my lawyer. This car has had the engine replaced twice and has died on me multiple times in the past year. It is under warranty and I have had it in the shop for the past several months and have been driving rental cars covered by the dealership.

My lawyer just came back and said that the manufacturer offered $3200 no strings attached. I still keep the car and let them continue trying to fix it, I don't have to agree to anything or give them anything.

If you have any knowledge of this type of situation, I would appreciate your feedback. I just don't know if this is a good deal or if I should use the money to sue the manufacturer.

Answer
I would take my attorneys advice. This sounds like an excellent offer but if you accept you will have to sign a contract that you can not sue the manufacture. They are offering you an out of court settlement. That means it is over and you can not come back and sue later. I would use the money as a down payment for another car.

I read car newspapers and visit car web sites and one qiestion has captured my interest "Where do they take information?"

Answer
Car magazines are given cars by the manufacturers to test drive and review. Some websites are given the cars as well to drive and review. But others are just opinions from "gear heads" and car owners.

What do I need to know to buy a used car from the owner directly?

Ansi C

Hi,
I want to buy a car in the newspaper ad I saw for sale by its owner. What do I need the owner to show me so I know this car is not stolen or has other legal issues?
Thanks.

Answer
Above is correct. The original copy of the ownership proves he or she is the owner. Some jurisdictions also require the seller to buy a used car package. That package will list the current and past ( if any ) owner(s) of the vehicle, if the car was ever a write-off, as well as if there are any registered liens against the car. That used car package is then passed on to the buyer at the completion of the sale. This package is supposed to help fight against curbsiders ( used car sales people that pose as private sellers ) and other fraudulent misrepresentations.

What are at least 20 news events that happened over the summer?

car news used on Bmw Summary New Cars Used Car Reviews - Ajilbab.Com Portal
car news used image

Kate

My school has current events quizzes, so I need to know 20 news events that happened over the summer. Please no celebrity news. Not to much sports, but some. Political is the best. Both national and international.

Answer
1. Ted Kennedy's death,

2.Michael Jackson's, even though you said no celebrity, that was big news.

3.The fact Jackson's doctor was giving him anesthesia in his house but no surgery, sorry, but news.

4.North Korea was threatening to shoot missiles at the US on the 4th of July, but didn't.

5.Swine flu is still around and has killed a few hundred people and they think it could come back.

6. President Obama's health care plan has not passed, many are for and against it.

7. St. Louis Cardinals are 9 games ahead of the Chicago Cubs in the National league Central Division (sorry but could not resist that)

8. A girl kidnapped 18 years ago was found today (August 27) and apparently had 2 kids by her kidnapper.

Sorry, that's all I can come up with. Good luck

Look in Wikipedia under 2009. They have a month by month review of the year. See if there is anything you can use. One big one I forgot was

9. the Air France crash in the Atlantic off Brazil

10. The collision of a plane and helicopter over the Hudson River, killing all on board both. Close to where the plane safely went down in January.

11. Protests about President Obama's health care plan, related to #6. Senators and Congressmen and women are being booed at Town Hall meetings.

12. Weird weather all over. Droughts in Texas, too much rain in the Northeast; cool weather in the midwest in July and August, hot, dry weather in normally cool, wet Northwestern US.

13. Wild fires in California

14. Nearly total economic collapse in California's government and in other state, and local governments.

15. Car companies going bankrupt, Chrysler, GM

16. Cash for clunkers, people turn in old, gas guzzlers for new cars with a $4500 or so rebate. Old cars are destroyed completely.

If he was in the act of committing a crime. Then there is nothing wrong in having an undercover operation.

Using a government car for personal reasons, like it is alleged in this case.

Is obtaining property by deception.

The public has a right to know considering the public has paid for that car through taxes. Those taxes pay for those cars so politicians can get to and from business meetings and to and from parliament.

How have TV and Moves Affected People?

car crash news articles on ... coverage of weekend accidents including James Dean's fatal accident
car crash news articles image

Vivian

Could you please guide me to some news articles or online articles explaining incidents where TV and movies have affected someone or a group of people. It can be a good affect or a bad one.
Like I remember one article explaining that the movie "Fast and Furious" caused tons of teens to get in car crashes trying out what the movie held.

Thanks!

Answer
There have been tons of studies trying to prove one way or the other. The methodology has always been flawed. The most rigorous, scientific test showed that such movies do have some effect, but not enough to actually influence a person's behavior more than what they'd normally do.

If a car plunges off of a bridge into water what is the rate of survival?

Kelly Lass

I'm wanting to know about the math and science.... Is there a certain height of a bridge that will lessen the impact of the crash? I know that many factors will contribute to surviving something like this. Also, what is the primary cause of death in car crashes into water? If the car is still completely in tact is the crash fatal due because of the impact? I can't find any articles that explain this... Other than news stories of actual events.;)

Please, no rude or condescending answers. Thanks!

Answer
Car crashes into water are so rare that I am not sure that they can compute a statistically valid "primary" cause of death.

Crashes into water can be roughly divided into three categories:

a. Shallow water. Water does not stop car; car impacts the bottom. Passengers do not go underwater. Situation is the same as if there was no water and the car just hit the ground. As in any other crash, fatalities are typically from head injury or blunt force trauma.

b. Deep water, person wearing seat belt. Water softens the impact, car floats for awhile. Seat belt prevents severe head impact, so person remains conscious and can get out of car before it sinks. Person often lives.

c. Deep water, person not wearing seat belt. Person hits dead, gets knocked out. Car eventually fills with water and sinks. Person drowns.

I'm interested in a hybrid car, will the batteries pollute a landfill when they are used up?

rehabdoc67

I read about how good hybrid cars are for the environment but I'm worried that in a few years we will have landfills loaded with toxic batteries contaminating the groundwater. Is any information available about this?

Answer
Questions that make ya go hmmm... :)

Before looking anything up, my personal thought was that since these cars are about HELPING the environment, I would *imagine* that hybrid owners would be encouraged - even expected - to trade in their used up batteries in order that they could be sent back to manufacturers for recycling! You would think that they could just melt down any metal or plastic and reuse them, as well as recycling any other components in some way just as used oil can be recycled - despite the unaware people that vacantly dump it in the sewer drains. :(

Ok, that's personal opinion... now for facts...

In looking around for the info, it seems that other people have asked about and discussed this elsewhere online, so we get to glean whatever we can from that...

One person says: "There is no "battery disposal" with hybrid vehicles. They last as long if not longer than the car itself." Further discussion from that person only showed that beyond the life of the car itself, he didn't see the point. :( He only offered that "disposal of a hybrid car w/battery is no worse than a regular car." Gee, how comforting. :P

However, I looked further, and found THIS (much more reassuring) -

"Hybrids use NiMH batteries, not the environmentally problematic rechargeable nickel cadmium. "Nickel metal hydride batteries are benign. They can be fully recycled," says Ron Cogan, editor of the Green Car Journal.

...and even better: "Toyota and Honda say that they will recycle dead batteries and that disposal will pose no toxic hazards. Toyota puts a phone number on each battery, and they pay a $200 âbountyâ for each battery to help ensure that it will be properly recycled." *cheer!*

So it would seem then that just like owners of cars with regular batteries, it will still come down to the level of environmental responsibility and concern held by the owner of said hybrid... which of course we would hope would be answered by the fact that he/she took the measure of owning a hybrid in the first place for the same reasons. :)

What is the best way to get top dollar for a classic car?

I have a restored 1971 240-Z in my garage. There is easily over $25k invested into this car over the years, I don't expect to get all that back if I sell it, but I don't want to give it away either. How can I get top dollar for my car?

Answer
We can not see this car that you are talking about and have no idea as to its value. I would suggest that you take a bunch of photos of this car and then post it for sale on E-bay. This may not appeal to you but remember that even on e-bay you can set a a reserve price for the car and most often if it is a real nice car you can get more for it than if you just listed it in a news paper a few years ago I had a BMW that I wanted to sell the most I could get for it was about $6200 around here but the car was listed (reserve)for $7600 sold it for $9600. Or you can as the other has suggested and shop the car around to several different auctions. I might keep that as a back up plan but taken a few photos to post on e-bay and and trying to sell it there might even be faster. Also remember that you can use a 7 day sale time and you can also use buy now as well.

Is the BMW 3 Series really unreliable and expensive to maintain?

AyD

It seems there are lots of dissatisfied BMW 3 series owners (going by comments on various consumer reviews). Is there any statistic showing the ratio of dissatisfied versus satisfied owners in the USA? My thinking is that consumers with horrific experiences are twice more likely to vent their frustrations via various feedback/review systems than satisfied customers echoing their positive experiences via the same medium. I'm interested in buying a 2002-06 BMW 325 or 330.

Answer
Hi AyD

In my honest opinion, the 3 series is neither unreliable or expensive to maintain.

Firstly, maintenance if anything has got less expensive as labour times for servicing have been cut and the introduction of CBS (Conditioned based servicing) which involves only replcing parts when they really need replacing.
This however has generated some unhappiness with customers as it then means slightly more visits to the dealer ie Sparkplug service one month/ Oil and filter the following month / Brake fluid two months after etc etc.

With regard to reliability, I am not saying the 3 is flawless however all models in every brand has problems. Some vehicle manufacturers are better than others at keeping things quiet if you know what I mean.

The 3 Series was recently (November 10th 2008) voted most reliable car in the UK which for the first time put it ahead of all Japenese models. I am not aware of any fundemental differences between the US 3 series and the UK 3 series. Have a read.........

http://www.vcars.co.uk/news/bmw/3-series/bmw-3-series-the-most-reliable-car-in-the-uk-1796.html

One thing of note is that BMW are selling more and more every year. A percentage of those will have problems, the more they sell then the more that have problems is always likely to increase.

If I could afford it right now a 3 would be my first purchase.

Hope I helped, Happy New Year,
Pyth

i need a good nonexpensive prank to play on my 15 year old brother at home ASAP!! hehe

Answer
sneak lemon juice onto their tooth brush

brush your hair or your pet with their toothbrush & leave the hair in it

a glob or smear of peanut butter on their toilet seat or bed sheet looks like poo

White liquid shoe polish washes off easy & looks like bird poo when splattered all over car hoods, roof, trunk, rear window & windshield or on on bikes, 4 wheelers, lawn chairs, anything left outside. Use a water gun or medicine dropper.

Squirt Silly String into the toes of their shoes, making sure none of the string shows where they slip their foot in. Or save hair out of hair brushes & pet brushes & tuck a fluffy wad into the toes of shoes. It feels alive! Just don't make the wad too solid, like cotton cuz that doesn't feel weird.

Smear KY lubricant or vaseline on their door knobs, cabinet or drawer handles that you know they'll open.

A big glob of KY looks like someone hacked up & spit out snot. Drop the glob on their bathroom sink, night stand or someplace you know they'll see it.

A wad of toilet paper with peanut butter, chocolate syrup or smashed chocolate bar in it, left laying on their floor, by their door, on their toilet seat or bed.

Stick mini pads all over their door, mirror, bookbag, window, etc.

Super glue coins on their night stand & watch them try to pick them up or super glue soda can tabs on the bottom of their shoes to make noise when they walk on a tile floor or sidewalk.

Fill their bed with packing peanuts then cover them up. When she pulls her covers back, packing peanuts will fly everywhere.

Carefully remove a dead moth or butterfly off the grill of a vehicle, trying not to crush it, then put a glob of KY on it's belly (or other wash off adhesive) then carefully stick the bug on the bridge of their nose while they're sleeping (during daylight) then wake them , gently, so their movement doesn't knock the bug off & tell them with concern that there's a bug on their nose. You can also use a live earthworm without adhesive or waking them cuz the earthworms movement wakes them. Or you can put a dead bug or earthworm in their food, drink, shoes, etc. The bigger, the better. Handsfull of earthworms work best in shoes, or even in the toilet and it doesn't matter if they get flushed, they'll most likely get out at the other end.

Take something from their room or bathroom that they use everyday & place it elsewhere in the house or car. When they look for it, they'll whine about finding it someplace they don't remember taking it. Then the next day, move the same item to still another location. Do that everyday with the same item till they get smart enough to hide that item from you.

Prank phone calls to pull on boys:
1. a client from Birthright (or Family Planning or whatever free clinic you have in your town) who has identified you as the father of her baby. How soon can you make an appointment to come in for a dna test?" Then play it by ear depending on what he says. In reality, the pregnant girls info is private so you don,t have to tell him a name if he ask.

2. Or, tell him you're calling from a health clinic on behalf of a client who has an std who has named him as one of her sexual partners so when can he come in to be tested? Be prepared to respond according to his unpredicted remarks & questions.

3. Or, tell him you're calling from the Child Support Enforcement Agency on behalf of a client who has named him as the father of her child & he is to appear in court at (a time) on (a date) so he can establish with the judge how much child support can be ordered. Be prepared to respond according to his unpredicted remarks & questions.
April Fools Day pranks:
4. Sneak outside & knock on the door or ring the door bell then run to another door & do the same thing then run back to the first door & when they open it, say "thanks, I thought no one would ever let me in, April fool!"

5. Knock on the door from the inside, yell "I'll get it" then open the door & yell for you sister or brother, saying someones at the door for them. Walk away but where you can watch them look around for 'nobody there' & when they say no ones there, egg it on like someone was, describing a person, then tell them April fool.

6. Write April Fool on a note, wrap it in a box, either gift wrap or shipping paper with used stamps glued on it, cut from old envelopes. Address the box to your family member or put a tag on the 'gift' with their name on it. Watch their face when they open it & find the note but pretend you don't know anything about it. You can leave the gift where they will find it or you can knock on the door, yell I've got it, then tell them the shipping box was dropped off to them. You can also put the April Fool note in an envelope with old stamps glued to it + family members name & address & leave it with the rest of the mail.

7. Get to the daily news paper before anyone else, put a small smear of glue at the corners of each page so they all stick together, rolling

What is actually possible to do with a computer and programs?

Ghastly Ra

I've heard people do really amazing things using technology. I've seen lots of crap on tv and in films about hacking cars (Untraceable) and many others. But what exactly is possible? Could you state if each one is real or bull-crap?

1) Hacking any car(one that has a computer) to make it stop in mid traffic. I read that some cars can have a little box installed that will stop it if the owners don't keep up payments.

2) Go onto(hack) any other persons computer and messing with it. I read that some people can turn on another persons web-cam.

3) Create a program that will activate itself some time in the future, just say a virus?

4) Find out anything about a person that has ever made it on the internet? My picture was in the front page of my town's news paper. This also comes from those phone adds where they tell you to send your name and they'll send back info about you.

5) Create a virus that will carefully insert pornography into your computer and call the FBI or police?
-A virus that can forcefully(without your consent or knowledge) delete everything on your computer.

I would be really interested in the facts. Thanks.

Answer
YES, all of them

In practice, any device that is computer controlled can be subverted and made to behave in any way the hacker wants. Computer are devices that are controlled by programs, and, if you can modify or insert programs you can alter their behavior.

In case 1, I can tell that my car can be located, stopped, unlocked by phone.

In cases 2 and 5, some recent news have provided evidence of them. In one case, a school activated students' web cam and took pictures of them (see Robbins v. Lower Merion School District). In another case a virus/hacker downloaded child pornography and the owner was prosecuted for it (there are several cases in the news in internet)

In case 3. It is very common, virus are a pervading example.

In case 4, you can use search engines to find anybody's internet activity. In the internet archive you can find information not currently available. And many companies collect information from the internet and archive for future searches, like security companies.

i wanna get a motorbike, got a few questions. help?

Regal John

i've heard that car insurance is crazy right now, and so is petrol so i thought that i'd go for the cheaper option and buy a motorbike.

i went to confused.com to check out insurance and stuff and it was asking loads of question like 'what cc is it', 'what kind of bike' and 'bike qualifications'... i'm not going to be able to figure out the insurance before i whittle a few details down!

what i'm looking for is good advice for a beginner in terms of what my next move could be and what bikes are good choices for an adventurous 23 year old student who travels around a lot.

my price range is anything up to £800. i want one of those comfy big seats, with the luggage containers on the sides. not bothered about speed, just want a big comfy spacious cruiser, think they're called tourers, not sure, but anyway... something big and meaty, chunky and funky, comfy big seat with space for two and large storage compartments. what kind of bike am i looking for?!

[edit] eeerm... something like this... http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/250837/images/police.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/General-news/2009/May/may1809-have-you-bought-an-ex-police-bike/&h=500&w=800&sz=27&tbnid=poDksraYtoxDJM:&tbnh=89&tbnw=143&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpolice%2Bbike%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=police+bike&hl=en&usg=__CCAlCn5oRhR7r-dKxhzNRXnpNHs=&sa=X&ei=52SkTYacLcmYhQeGuPTZCQ&ved=0CDUQ9QEwAQ but obviously... NOT like that... just like the shape and feel.

would be extremely grateful for any help.

thanks, regal johnston...

Answer
Oh jesus ... OK... total newbie. How do we address this.

Right, first up, you're not going to be on anything over 125cc as a learner, unless you do something stupid like go straight from never having sat on a bike to doing a Direct Access course over a weekend and barely passing the test. You will need to pass Compulsory Basic Training before you get anywhere near a road, which clears you to ride a 125, solo, without going on motorways. You can get cruisers in that capacity, but to be honest if you get one of those and then load it up with loads of luggage etc it'll struggle to clear 50mph. Get some experience on a more standard cycle, go for your full test (or Direct Access, probably more appropriate so you're not further limited to 33hp for two years), THEN get yourself the touring Hog.

Secondly... as a new rider... of your age... on a learner bike... I'd estimate probably £300-400 for your first year. Going on how my first annual payment was about 2/5ths what I was paying on my car at the time, and I wouldn't be surprised if car insurance for someone who was in my position when I bought my first (at 22-23) has gone up considerably from the ~£650 I paid for a group 2 runabout. However, I'm now paying about £120 a year for the bike (vs £500-600 for a car), having survived a year with no claims. This, however, is STILL on the standard 125. I have no idea what it is on a fat, fancy tourer, but it's certainly going to be more. The accident payouts are less, but you're at much higher risk of having one, so don't be surprised if the premiums for a luxury bike aren't far off that of an economy car. On student finances, a 100cc scooter might be a more sensible bet. Or an old Fiesta, and charge your mates petrol money for rides to the shops etc.

Thirdly, looking at the insurance as your first port of call? That's a bit wierd if you don't mind me saying. Your priorities seem topsy turvy. It certainly wasn't what I first looked at, in fact possibly the last. Fuel economy, ability to pick through traffic, ease of parking, lower costs of purchase and maintenance (on a simple bike, anyway), much lower road tax (£15 for the bike ... £205 for the car! And it doesn't go up *massively* with a larger engine), the fun of riding in the first place... Any of those call to you?

Fourth, after looking at your link: Honestly. You want a police cruiser copy as your first motorcycle, and as something cheap to get around on. Dude, give it up. It's not happening. Those things are freaking expensive (far more than I've ever paid for a car, and I bet they're not even particularly economic - just fast, and able to "filter" more easily than a panda car ... 45mpg might be ambitious), heavy, and I bet the insurance is insane, much like if you were to try and insure an ex-interceptor Vauxhall Omega 3-litre Turbo. They go on special courses before riding them.

Fifth: Have a look around a forum like bikechatforums or ukbiker, and the mcn fora, maybe pick up a bike mag or two and look at what their top picks are for beginners and any tips. Have a look on the DfT, Directgov, DSE websites that have quite a bit of good info on getting into it. There's another called, appropriately, BeginMotorcycling which does look like it harks from the mid 90s but has good, up to date info (did me well when i started) and others that cover e.g. what to look for when you DO buy, etc, if you google for them. Also Sharp helmet test ratings, if you care about your head.

In all, I don't want to overly discourage you - getting on 2 wheels is a very handy thing to do, it can save you a packet, put a smile on your face and, if you're brave and careful, even make christmas shopping in the middle of a Big Freeze a whole lot easier (just be careful of the black ice, jeeeez!!! 8-o). But it's better to dispel your dream of picking up some Trans-alpine road warrior tank of a bike like the one pictured and think it's going to save you fuel and insurance money vs, say, a secondhand Focus TDCi, before they get too far entrenched.

Welcome, potentially to the fold. I hope you can achieve your dream, and do it economically, just realise the deck is stacked against you.

Why Is Syria Currently In The Civil War?

I am a little lost as to why Syria Is in a civil war? Can someone please explain?

Answer
A protest movement recently began in Syria calling for more democracy, freedom, and reforms. It was originally peaceful, but outside forces and extremist factions hijacked this movement for their own purposes, and began using violence. The Syrian army then had to respond with even more violence, and an armed conflict erupted.

The majority of those currently fighting against the Syrian government are terrorists and foreign mercenaries. America, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and several other countries have been funding these terrorists and using them to try to overthrow the Syrian government. They are smuggling large amounts of weapons to these groups across the Syrian border, and they are also sending in hired insurgents from other countries to kill random people and cause chaos.

Every day, these terrorist groups are blowing up government buildings, sabotaging infrastructure, setting off car bombs in residential areas, and murdering people on a mass scale. They are destroying and terrorizing neighborhoods, committing massacres, forcing people to flee their homes and targeting anyone whom they suspect of supporting the government.

The collection of terrorist groups known as the "Free Syrian Army" is kidnapping and torturing people every day. Since the start of the crisis they have killed over 10,000 civilians, soldiers and policemen. Many of them are salafi extremists who want to establish an Islamic state in Syria, or radical Sunni terrorists motivated by sectarian hatred. Many of them are jihadists linked to al-Qaeda, and many are insurgents who have come from places like Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Tunisia, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt and elsewhere, by illegally crossing the Syrian border.

The US wants to overthrow the Syrian government not for humanitarian reasons as the media claims, but for geopolitical reasons, in particular because of Syria's firm stance against Israel, its opposition to US regional interests, its support for resistance movements in Palestine and Lebanon, and its alliance with major US enemies like Russia, China and Iran. By destroying Syria the US would be able to break apart the Iran-Syria-Hezbollah axis and get closer to establishing total hegemony in the middle east.

Not only has the US admittedly planned an overthrow of the Syrian government for decades, but it has also given money and weapons to sectarian anti-government terrorists in Syria and provided training to so-called Syrian âactivistsâ before the start of the current âuprisingâ. (bit.ly/KmkQF3)

The majority of "news reports" about Syria that you see on CNN/BBC/Al-Jazeera are stories and rumors that are taken without any verification directly from Syrian opposition sources, and from anonymous "activists" who have a vested interest in painting the Syrian situation in a certain way. Most of the time these stories later turn out to be misleading or completely false, and many times the sources of these stories are not even in Syria.

For example the "Syrian Observatory for Human Rights", which is possibly the most quoted source in the media about the Syrian conflict, is actually run from an apartment in England by one man who owns a clothes shop and supposedly gets all his information from "anonymous phonecalls". Meanwhile, sources actually on the ground in Syria who tell a completely different story are ignored.

The western mainstream media is owned by the military-industrial complex and is an inseparable part of the establishment. It is controlled by the very same interests that are trying to overthrow Syria, and its job is to help facilitate that overthrow by manipulating public opinion. That is why the media demonizes the Syrian government and exaggerates its wrongdoings while ignoring the atrocities committed by the rebels.

What you will never hear on the news is that the Syrian government has already met most of the demands of the legitimate opposition in Syria (those who are making their demands peacefully, and who are actually inside Syria, unlike the Istanbul-based SNC that is calling for foreign invasion).

The Syrian government has already implemented new party laws, new media laws, new election laws, a new constitution has been implemented via referendum, the emergency law has been lifted, general amnesty has been granted multiple times, there have been new local & parliamentary elections, etc.

in syria, What goals do the rebel groups have? Who are their leaders?

I know 100% that they will report you to the dvla for not having a tax disc and they will look into how much to fine you. It usually depends how long the car has had no tax for, the police are not interested in tax as it's not a criminal offense, it's a revenue issue. No MOT is max of 6 points, a fine and court costs. Good look to whoever when in court because they are on the rampage at the min.

These cars are notorious for loosing their charges in the system after the system gets some age on it. Some parts stores now carry a product that you can put in your system that will mix with anything the factory used. Normally one small can of the refrigerant will get you through the summer unless your leak is really big. If your system has blown a seal, you may have to take it to a shop and have the seal replaced. Mot shops worth their salt do have a chemical they can pump into your system and find the leak by using a black light. Be careful. it is real easy to get ripped off on air conditioning systems. If you need to take it to a shop then I would get at least 3 estimates. Do not allow the shop owners to know you already have prior estimates, keep it secret till you need to use that info.

Is buying a used car from one of those small independent dealers a good idea?

Common Whi

I always see small car dealers with a trailer home office and about 50 cars on their lot. Are they as scuzzy as they seem, or just as risky as buying from an individual. Any car I'd buy I'd take to an independent mechanic. Im just wondering if there's some tradition to those smaller dealers and that they might be crooked and fly by night. Any experiences or knowledge about small car dealers?

Answer
Good question. It's hit or miss with those places honestly. Those dealers are the reason that I got into the car business as a career. I was young, just married and super pregnant and my husband had a wreck and we needed a new car. Didn't have a lot of money to put down and we went to one of those places and they put us in a nice car, it was only about 3 years old, excellent condition....and the payments were like $560 a month, they ran us through a real lender. A subprime lender with high interest rates. But I didn't know that at the time, I was just happy to have a nice car. And then one day I realized my car loan was for 60 months....I was like, wait, couldn't we have gotten something brand new with a warranty for the same price or less? Yes. We could have. But I didn't know any better. I thought wow, these people are really making a lot of money! But it's not fair for them to do this to pregnant women!!!
So I applied with a nice car dealership. Lincoln/Mazda. And I learned to sell cars. Then I moved to Mazda/Kia. After I mastered Kia, I trained others on it at several different dealerships throughout the country. Then I decided it was time to check out the other side of the car business. I know pretty much everything there is to know about the new car side. Let's see if all the rumors are true about the buy here pay here lots....So I applied for a management position with one. A nice one, with a really nice bug building and some nice looking cars. Of course they hired me. The owner was crooked as I don't know what. Found out after I was working for him he is a convicted criminal, he uses the cars to run drugs all over the country, oh yeah it was pretty terrible. No payroll department. He paid me cash only. And he hated to pay me. At a new car dealership, I make about 30% off of the front of the deal and 10% off of the financing in the back end of the deal (off of the profit). This guy at the BHPH lot....he was only paying me 10% of the down payments I collected. Always promised he'd pay me more when he got some big check for some business thing he had in New York. And with only 10% of the down payments....I was still bringing home $5000+ a month. I sold 53 cars in one month, me and my finance guy. We financed everyone through a lender called Mark One, the king of sub-prime lending. Usually a 23% interest rate. (That equals $230 a month the customer pays just in interest). The customers we couldn't finance through the lender, we would do a BHPH (buy here pay here) deal on them, but they didn't know it. We told them it was done through a lending company. The lending company was called MAPAW. You know what that stands for? Miss A Payment And Walk. They had people fill out credit apps with pens from our repo company just for fun. I never once delivered a car the same day I sold it. They would get all the info, take the down payment and then tell them go home, ok, we will call you once we get it approved, it may take a few days, I may have to pull some strings, I'll get it done. And then a week later, we need $1,000 more dollars. Ok, thanks, still working on it. 2 weeks later....It's been a month since they first came to see us. They have given us $2,000 (a lot of the customers are on social security, welfare, making minimum wage) so at this point they were so desperate for a car they would take anything. So we put them in some piece of junk. You have NO idea how many times I'd get called "I'm a mile away and my car is smokin, what do I do?" Bring it back in, we will fix it for you, no problem. You pay half the cost of repairs. So we would just double the repair bill and make them pay half....therefore they thought we were helping them out. As long as the BHPH deals would come and make their payments to us for 60 days (which we usually broke down by weekly or bi-weekly payments) then that means the loan was "seasoned" and a bank would pick it up and buy it. For about 80% of the total loan value. Want to know what the total loan value is on these cars? Here's one, for example. A military kid named Cody, really nice guy I liked him a lot, but I didn't do his deal. I saw it after it was done. He was in a 99 Isuzu Rodeo (we probably paid $1500 for it at auction) he put like $2000 down I think (it was a good amount) and they financed him at about $12,000 on the loan. It was over a $10,000 profit deal AFTER repairs and fees and such. He was so happy to have a vehicle he sent 3 of his friends.
I learned enough, saw everything I had to see and quit after about 3 months. The real used car business is VERY UGLY. I'm not saying that All of them are like that, but 90% of them are. Sawdust to stop engine knocks...I know all the tricks. I will never ever recommend going to anything less than a reputable dealership.

What do accidents do the the value of your car?

jbgp1200

I have a 2002 Ford explorer XLT that I own outright. The car is a magnet for bad drivers. I have been hit in it about 5 times now. Always been noting more then body damage. However with carfax reports now available to the public, I am wondering what these fender benders will do to the over all value of my car. They are always fixed by reputable body shops, but because the car has been hit numerous times, I question how this will effect the resale value if and when i decide to sell the vehicle. Any thoughts on this?

Answer
To prove to potential buyers that the accidents were minor, it would be best if you keep all receipts for work done, and what the original costs for repairs were. It would seem it hasn't been damaged enough to have a salvage/rebuilt brand. If this does happen, you will see your value drop considerably, most people don't want rebuilt cars, however, some care only about how it looks, if it looks good, they think they look good, so there is always a buyer out there. Your accidents will be on record with the DMV, if the accidents were reported by insurance agencies, or if law enforcement was involved, and police reports were filed. The accidents are not broken down by the seriousness of it, it merely states an accident occurred with that VIN, on a certain date. Another thing you might be interested in is, some states are very far behind in their getting the accident data entered into the system. I was hired by a state to do just that, I entered accident info, then went on to the driver records, and added the info to those records. This state was two years behind in their reporting! 30,000 accidents per day happened, adding to the load already far behind. It took us six months to get caught up, at that point, you can imagine the ire of people upset that their driver licenses are being pulled for accidents that happened two yrs back. So, when you talk CarFax, Vehix.com and the other online services, they get their info from the public records held by the state. As you can see, if the state is behind with reporting, the services offered cannot be fully guarenteed.

Is swine flu just a big rumor to jumpstart the economy by making people spend money on the health industry?

Because swine flu is one of the top stories on every news media resource, many people who have normal flus or even colds, are going to the doctor's office or buying lots of medicines and drugs. What if it is a corporate and government sponsored media sensationalized rumor to try and help the boost the global economy?

Answer
lol

no, dude the swine flu is real it's already killed approx. 145 people in mexico and is spreading across the world as we speak.
Besides spending money on the health industry wouldn't be a great boost in the economy since the health sector of the USA is one of the few HEALTHY parts of the economy which is still growing even in this recession. Now if the flu somehow made people buy houses and cars out of some weird panic or something now that's when i would start to think the governments behind it haha.

Why were progressives offended by the NRA pointing out facts but ok with Obama using kids to end the 2nd?

Tringle

When I was a kid I thought I could time travel in time in my parents car after I saw Back to the Future. Obama uses these kids who were scared by the news media fear mongering to take our rights and that's ok, but point out that Obama doesn't believe in gun free zones when it comes to his safety and its all of a sudden its a big offense.

Answer
Progressives take Obama's side in arguments and the NRA opposes the ban on guns because they feel it is a violation of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. The NRA will be an opposing force to
congress for any laws that diminish peoples rights to own firearms. There are also many members in congress that are avid gun owners, many of which are not progressives.
