The car computers I am referring to are the ECU s which are built in the cars to moniter its defferent functions.

Answer
You can't ! This is Something that has always Frustrated Me. When I Repair a TV, Stereo, VCR, etc. I can get the Specific Diagrams, usually a "Sam's Pack" that clearly outlines all Components, as well as Test Points, and Voltage Measurements. The Car Computers, and Instrument Panels, Climate Controls, etc. that I have Repaired are built no better than Consumer Electronics. Yet They Cost Hundreds of Dollars, and are often Difficult to Obtain Parts for. The Vehicle Manufacturers have a Virtual "Lock" on the Electronics of Vehicles . This is so Wrong ! And much of the Software Independent Auto Repair Shops need to Perform Vehicle Diagnosis Checks is kept hidden as well. I can Understand that while the Vehicle is New, and under Warranty why this is so. But the only Place, other than the Vehicle Manufacturers that have the Diagrams are Factory Authorized Aftermarket Repair Shops that Charge Hundreds of Dollar$ to do even Simple Repairs. And They don't Share Their Diagrams ! Also, all Employees who Work there must Sign a Contract Stating They will not give out any Info. on Repairs or Diagrams. One that comes to mind is "Downtown Radio" in Charlotte N.C. They are making a Fortune on ECU Repairs ! There was supposed to be a Class Action Lawsuit before the Supreme Court about the Diagrams, as well as the Software. That was Last Year. I'd like to know what Happened with that Case. Then, We'd both have our Answer !

How do I connect my new laptop to the old one to transfer files?

kellydavid

My old laptops screen is gone but it will boot. I need to get some of the old info off of it to put on my new laptop. Help. FYI- I do not have an external hard drive.
I have a cat5 cable. Would that work? I can't see my screen on the old computer but it's on. However it's in stand by so I can't see the area to put my password in windows. What I'm needing to know is once I have the correct cable to transfer will I be able to toggle the screens from the new laptop? Okay I'm confusing myself so I'm sure this makes no sense. But basically I can't see my old screen to get my password in which means I can do the toggle fn key from the old one and need to somehow from the new one be able to view the old ones screen. Wow that was a lot to say. Hope someone can help. THANKS!

Answer
If you have a monitor, you could try and plug the monitor into your old laptop with the non-functioning screen, and you might get lucky and be able to navigate around that way enough to copy the files you want.

Get a Crossover Cable to copy files from one PC to another.

These are software solutions that mention using a crossware cable:
http://www.cellarstone.com/softcopy.htm
It may help you copy the files you want.

http://www.stompsoft.com/easy-pc-transfer-complete.html $40.(adds the cable for 'free')

UPDATE: cat5 won't do it...not geek enough. Hmmmm....let's make this practical and realistic. I'm thinking you may need to "get a geek" to help you (think relative, friend of relative, friend, friend of a friend, relative of a friend, coworker, friend of a coworker, salesperson...you get the picture...do some human networking and follow the chain until you can hit on a serious geek..). Didn't catch it all, but what I did catch is that your old laptop is messed up, but the harddrive seems to spinup okay. "get a geek" to get that harddrive from the old laptop and set it up in an external hard-drive bay with a usb...that may be the best way for you to get access to the old laptop's files. Print this out and take this to comp-usa, best-buy or some place with the geekiest looking salesperson, wave the print out infront of them and ask them for help (buy them a MtDew or something if they help you through it, for future, ongoing assistance). Take the old and new laptop with you, in the trunk of your car or somewhere hidden.

Should I be worried about the swine flu?

I'm freaking out about this flu that's going around. I live in california in the LA area. Is the media making it sound worse than it really is? Should I worry more about dying in a car accident than dying of the swine flu?

Answer
3-5 MILLION people are infected with the good old regular everyday "flu" per year. Roughly 500,000 people die each year from complications related to the good old regular flu. Put things in perspective people. Stop creating hype.

I seriously think people need to stop watching the news. I'm an RN. We have NOT implemented anything new, we have not changed protocols, we dont ask people to wear masks --- hell, we've not even been inserviced on the virus. It's business as usual. And - I work in a very busy San Diego hospital where there have been some local cases.

Stop worrying. Don't buy into the hype.

Drunk drivers kill more people than this virus ever will. Besides - those that've died from the virus likely were in poor health to begin with. -Chad, RN ICU

How to determine if a non-relative is in a car accident?

Emergency

I'm in Minnesota, and yesterday we had nearly 1.5 feet of snow fall at once. I'm supposed to meet my boyfriend tonight, and he assured me he'd be home by 6:30pm. He emailed me at 6pm to say he was leaving. It's now 8pm, it's only a 20 minute drive to here from his work, and traffic reports suggest he should be home by now. I am stranded outside his apartment building since I do not have a key. He is not carrying his cell phone; he forgot it at his apartment this morning.

We are not married and do not live together, and I don't know if or how I would be contacted in an emergency. I have to know what's going on - I can't stay here overnight and there are no buses to take me back to my home.

What does one normally do when they suspect an accident? Call hospitals? News stations? Police departments? I'm at a loss. Please help me if you have any guidance.

Answer
If he was conscious and knows your cell phone number, then he would have called you from the hospital. Assuming that this did not happen, the possibilities are (a) he's not hurt, (b) he's unconscious, or (c) he's dead. Most likely, he's not hurt. Either his car broke down or he was in a minor accident and was not hurt. Either way, he's probably trying to get a tow truck. This will take him a long time, because (1) he forgot his phone, so he can't use it to call a tow truck, and (2) the wait for tow trucks is longer when it snows.

Leave a note for him on the door, and start driving yourself home, or call a cab.

If you want to check on the other possibilities, you call one of his relatives, or whomever you think would have been notified if he was unconscious or had been killed. But, first, call the place where he works; if the weather was bad or he had car trouble, he might have gone back there.

How do I hide the scratch on my new headlight purchase?

quest love

I have purchased a new headlight online. But I has been scratched when I placed it. I wonder is there any chemicals or any cheapest way to fix it.

Answer
chemicals will not dissolve away a scratch - a scratch is "missing material" - you can either try and find a way of filling it OR polish down the surrounding material to try and disguise the scratch.

Is the scratch in a metal / glass / plastic part of the headlight. Do you mean a light that you fix on your head - eg: for potholing / caving, or a thing you plonk on the front of your car?

Not really enough info to know how to guide you, even the part where you say "But I has been scratched when I placed it." isn't especially helpful.

Has the media affected men and their reputation?

V Bomb

Is it easy to believe things when something negative is said about men in general?

I have read questions here that asked - why men are charged more for car insurance? I bet people replied with the usual stereotype that men drive more rashly. So it was a bit of a shocker when I(as a man) read this.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2012188/Women-drivers-ARE-dangerous-wheel-scientists-discover.html

http://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1084419_younger-women-drivers-more-likely-to-die-in-crashes-than-younger-men-study

Also the media publishes a thump load of misleading reports.

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/indias-neha-ramu-has-higher-iq-than-albert-einstein-stephen-hawking-mensa-iq-test/1083401/2

It seems female journalists don't have any respect for a man's outstanding contribution to humanity. They don't think twice before insulting Einstein.

Straight read the last line. And then read the report. I just want to say that my cousin has taken the SAT and scored much higher than the score mentioned in that report. By that logic he is way smarter than Einstein. I have never lost a game of chess with him, even if he has spent more time reading chess books and perfecting his game. So I must be a rocking genius by that logic(BTW I understand that this is nonsense).

Here is more -

http://www.news.com.au/money/banking/girl-11-has-higher-iq-than-einstein/story-e6frfmcr-1226695454418

http://www.salon.com/2013/06/08/13_year_old_with_iq_higher_than_einstein_is_also_refreshingly_modest/

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/9865246/Essex-teenager-has-higher-IQ-than-Einstein.html

Both Einstein and Stephen Hawkings have never taken an IQ test. BTW. If I ever hire a female journalist I am going to have her IQ tested first.lol(no offense intended here)

I can rant a big deal here but, hope you get the point. And many many(not typo) such reports are published that say women are outperforming men, better than men according to science. It takes only 2 minutes of research on the net to debunk them.

The most horrible crimes that some men commit are sensationalized. If from a population of 1 million men 365 men commit crimes per day. Then it will look like men are really bad. I guess I am just touching the tip of the iceberg here.

All this at a time when the media is a large part of average people's lives due to technological advancements.

Tips for going to India for 18 year old girl?

Kiran

Hi, I am Indo Canadian and 18 years old, I have lived in Canada for all my life and will be visiting India for the first time. I speak fluent punjabi and will be staying at my grandparents house there. Does anyone have any tips for my trip? Do I have to dress a certain way? Can i wear Canadian clothes (short shorts, tanktops, dresses) ? What can i expect while visiting a village in punjab? Is there anything i should avoid? All advice is appertiated, i am really nervous for this trip.

Answer
Do not wear tank tops, shorts, dresses to the village.

You might be able to get away with this in Delhi or Chandigarh, but I would get yourself measured in Canada at a suit tailor, and send your measurements to India ask your family to have some clothing made for you in your favorite colors. This way, you will have clothing ready for you when you arrive (it can take a week or two, depending on the season/holiday). In the mean time, nothing less than a Tshirt with sleeves (the longer the shirt and sleeves the better) or tunic and jeans/full length skirt.

If you are leaving soon, Punjab can be warm at noon, and very cold at night... and sometimes the houses feel cold, because of the concrete construction they are often not heated in the way we are used to in North America.

You may also find a good wool hat, gloves, and a cardigan (to wear over everything) will be useful in the Punjab winter. If you go for indian-style clothes, there is almost always a "dupatta" -- which is pretty useful in hot weather (for shade) and in cold weather (as a scarf)

As for the speaking fluent Punjabi, this will be helpful in getting around, and I suggest a lot of these modest clothing options because you will actually be able to understand the insults that could be said about you... Some foreigners (myself included) have the luxury of being language/slang ignorant, so its easy to ignore and continue on, unphased.

Other tips include: learn how to clean yourself in the bathroom without using toilet paper... do this at home, while you are in your safe/happy home, so that you can master it in the village. (Many toilets are "indian style" and are holes in the ground, with footpads to stand on!) One other tip about girls that these style toilets, is that our center of gravity isn't designed for this position... you can rectify this by wearing short - 1 inch,chunky-heel sandals... you will be able to squat with more balance and less fear of falling over backwards! (try it!)

You can expect there to be absolutely no nightlife. Unless this is a festival time, everyone goes home after dinner.

Boys and girls are not friends. You will see boys holding hands, they aren't gay... and making long eye contact, talking to a boy, as a friend, especially alone, may inspire comments, about your virginity, or propriety, because you aren't married to him -- This is something that has taken me a while to get used to... and I wish I could have more friends of any gender, but gets awkward, as things get left open to unexpected interpretation.

You can also expect your grandparents to be very warm, welcoming, feed you a lot, and the way they operate may be considered "strict" by your home standards.

Hopefully you will be able to make some friends while you are there (even though you won't stay out at night). A 18yr old girl who came through my program, really felt lonely, because friendship didn't look the way she was used to. Bring a hobby, book, game etc. You can also expect that life will move very very slowly. Take the time to enjoy the new pace, because it will take a cup of chai, and maybe 15 minutes of chat about life, the news or the weather, before you can ask... "so what about my visa/clothing/tailoring?"

The concept of "me time" doesn't exist. Privacy as we know it in the west, doesn't either. Doors open, you grandmother will know when you are sleeping and know when you are awake, as she is likely tuned in every sound in the neighborhood. (My Indian auntie knows the sound of my employee's car, and predicts his arrival!) Another example is that when I have been sick, and want to me miserable alone in my room, they want me to come out and be miserable with them! Being alone is one fear that many Indians highlight -- and they want to comfort you in a way that is familiar to them!

Other than that... the best advice I received about this kind of travel was given by a muslim woman who traveled all over countries where Muslims weren't welcomed, or women couldn't go by themselves... I asked her how she did it, and she said... "Go with god, and go." There are a lot of doors that were closed because I was a single woman traveling alone... but there were also many doors that were open. :-)

Good luck and have fun!!

Im looking for a new car but I want a reliable, affordable, but yet goodlooking car.

Answer
JEEEZZZ! Everybody says Honda, Toyota Etc. but you know, they are just like all the other cars out there, and so many of them too! You`ll just blend in with the bland with those. Cheap plastic interiors too!

Honda wants you to change the timing belt every 50,000 miles at $600. Toyotas and Honda both are so easily stolen because the ignition switches are made of cheese.

Gas VW`s are cool but get average gas mileage...

, but the diesel ones are super reliable because there are no electronic spark timing sensor stuff in them, They`re diesel, NO spark plugs, NO tune-ups, only oil and filter changes, AND 50MPG!!
Dieswels las 3X longer than gas engines do...

The Diesel Jetta looks good..
http://www.stealthtdi.com/index.html

and heres the pro`s and cons of going diesel!
http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/auto/20030804a1.asp?prodtype=auto

ever seen an odometer hit a half million miles? SAME engine SAME EXHAUST!!
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/23/vw-finds-highest-mileage-diesel-in-ohio/

Diesels sound cool under the hood, and if you ever drive one, you will DEFINETLY notice the tourqe it puts out, you wont kill it when you let the clutch out!!

Trading in one car for two of less value?

Brian

I have a car that has about $14,500 left to pay on the loan. I am planning to trade it in for a car of less value ($3000) with a possibility of another car about that price. My wife and I need to separate cars for work. So a total of less than $8000 for the other two cars, which I have yet to purchase. The car I currently own has a trade-in value of $9,500.
Is this possible to do? I've read online and so far everything points to yes and that the dealer will make more money off the re-sale of my current car.
And any recommendations are much appreciated.
Besides trying to get a car each for my wife and me, I am trying to take away from the high monthly car payment that I'm currently going through.

Answer
This isn't going to happen. Here's why:

First and foremost, unless you have enough equity in your trade to pay off both cars, each car has a separate loan. Why is this important? Because it means you can only trade in your car towards one of the two vehicles you plan to purchase.

Second, you need to know that banks loan money based on "loan to value". This means that the amount they will lend is directly proportional to the retail value of the vehicle. Most lenders will not exceed 125% loan to value. You will not receive more than $3,750 (125%) for a $3,000 car, and this will include tax, title, and license. $3,000, plus tax ($240 - estimated at 8%), title and license (estimated at $150), will give you $3,390. This gives you a total of $360 to put towards the negative equity on your trade. You will need to come up with an additional $4,640, just to get the deal "in line" with the lender's guidelines. The second car is a completely separate loan.

Third, you're not going to be able to finance two $3,000 cars. In order to get the value of a car that low, it would either be very old, have extremely high miles, or both. After 4 years, most lenders won't do 72 months. After 6 years, most won't do 60 months. In addition, most lenders will not finance a car with more than 100,000 miles (one exception being full size trucks with diesel engines).

You're not going to be able to trade out of it, even if you tried to buy a more expensive vehicle. You are going to need a significant amount of money down if you try to trade it, or sell it (you'll need to pay the difference before the lender will release the title). Your best bet would be to save enough to pay cash for a beater. After you do that, put every penny towards paying off your truck, or, at the very least, paying enough to sell it, and come out even.

Sorry I don't have better news.

Why are women complaining about getting treated equally in this article?

Ebomaniac

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-20557527

this article talks about women's car insurance and about how now women have to pay the same car insurance. The funny thing the article is written in a negative slant. Portraying this as a bad thing for women or that women are being treated badly now even though you know if it was the other way around (women paying more for something and men then being made to as well) it would be seen as a victory for equality. Take a look at the women interviewed in this article, whining she has to pay more now. What's wrong ladies, I thought you wanted equality? Well here it is ladies here is what it tastes like

hilarious part in the article

"A European court ruling last year found that gender discrimination in insurance was against the law."

It took a court ruling to realize discrimination against men was wrong. Say it all doesn't it?
@prettyLiars, should we also charge women more for health insurance since they go to the doctor far more than men do?
women are not safer drivers, they just drive far less than men do

Answer
I've long thought it odd that it's been illegal for employers to gender discriminate based on real statistics, but perfectly legal for insurance companies to. It seems to me that gender discrimination should be either legal or not legal across the board.

The women who are complaining are mostly those who feel they deserve to have their cake and eat it too.

i have a 1996 chrysler lhs drove the car from virginia to michigan the car sounds like it want to start but will not. i changed the starter and alternator and the fuel pump is good. what else could it be?

Answer
Find out if the green/orange wire going to the coil pack has a positive 12 volts when the engine is being turned over.If you unplug the coil pack connector then use a 12 volt test probe, ground it's negative/ground lead wire to the negative on the battery and touch the green/orange connector while the key is in the run position the test light should of came on for a second and then go off.Next try the key in the start position if the test light comes on and then stops lighting up while the engine is turning over that means the ECM has detected either a short or a problem either with the camshaft or crankshaft sensor or the circuit and it's shut off the automatic shut down relay that feeds the coil power.

If no power at all is at that green/orange wire either in run or start that means the automatic shut down relay fuse maybe bad or the relay is no good or you've problems in the wiring.Note their known to have wiring issues in the engine harness especially in the green/orange wire circuit that feeds the injectors and coil etc.

Now if the light stays on while turning the engine over this means you have to check the coil pack for spark and it's a common problem on those vehicles to have a bad coil pack.If you look online at autozone.com under repair info or ask part source stores for the resistance tests you could perform on the coil pack with a ohms meter.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if you're getting gas to the engine after trying to start it a few times you should be able to smell gas by the fuel rail, injectors and the air filter housing.Note I do have the factory service manual for that vehicle so if you need anymore help or advice feel free to contact me.

Has anyone had experience converting a car to run on grease or electricity?

governorho

I am looking into getting a kit to convert a used car to either run on grease or to run on electricity. I'd like to know of the experiences that some others have had going either of these two routes. Thank you.

Answer
governor

i converted 1 car to run on ethanol, a truck tor un on biodiesel 2 cars to run on hydrogen and one electric. here's what info i have for you...

Ethanol doesnât go bad like petroleum itâs just Alcohol. Itâs what preserves your wine and gets better as the years go by.
Ethanol is a much cleaner fuel than petrol (gasoline):
It is a renewable fuel made from plants
It is not a fossil-fuel: manufacturing it and burning it does not increase the greenhouse effect
It provides high octane at low cost as an alternative to harmful fuel additives
Ethanol blends can be used in all petrol engines without modifications
Ethanol is biodegradable without harmful effects on the environment
It significantly reduces harmful exhaust emissions
Ethanol's high oxygen content reduces carbon monoxide levels more than any other oxygenate: by 25-30%, according to the US EPA
Ethanol blends dramatically reduce emissions of hydrocarbons, a major contributor to the depletion of the ozone layer
High-level ethanol blends reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 20%
Ethanol can reduce net carbon dioxide emissions by up to 100% on a full life-cycle basis
High-level ethanol blends can reduce emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) by 30% or more (VOCs are major sources of ground-level ozone formation)
As an octane enhancer, ethanol can cut emissions of cancer-causing benzene and butadiene by more than 50%
Sulphur dioxide and Particulate Matter (PM) emissions are significantly decreased with ethanol.
Lastly and my favorite.. It can be made at home.
It will cost about $1.10 to $1.20/gal to make the alcohol from various feed-stocks like corn, barley, potatoes, or Jerusalem artichokes. You will also have by-products which you can sell or use as animal feed, reducing the total cost down to about $.95/gal.

I currently run Bio Fuel (straight vegetable) in a 1999 Dodge 3500 truck. But all Cummins engines were modified from the factory to run on BioD since around 1992 without any modification.

Biofuel is recognized by both the US Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy as an alternative fuel, and qualifies for mandated programs under the Clean Air Act Amendments and the Environmental Protection Act of 1992 (EPAct).

USDA Clears Air with Biofuel: Buses and other diesel-burning vehicles run cleaner if they mix biofuel with regular diesel fuel, said the US Department of Agriculture at a biofuel fuel seminar at a USDA research center.

Conversely most major automotive manufacturers (Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors, etc) recommend the use of bio fuels, and nearly every car manufacturer in the world approves ethanol blends in their warranty coverage.

In fact your probably even driving an ethanol car and didn't even know it.

The trick is finding fuel.

I've been producing biofuel for about 3 years now, it's not extremely difficult. Basically you need general household ingredients, a processor (or still for ethanol) and some used oil. Blend it, let separate, screen and use. I complied a guide a while back to help walk you threw the process step by step, just email me or check out..

Hydrogen is a great option for the concept of free energy. I built my first hydrogen cell about 5 years ago and now currently run 2 trucks, my home hot water heater, home stove and home generator on hydrogen for free with caught rain water and the help of a $10 solar panel. I offer a step by step DIY guide to walk anyone interested threw the process. You can find it at http://www.agua-luna.com/hydrogen.html or you can email me.

There are basically 3 safe ways to make and use it... chemically, electrically and molecularly, the first 2 being easier so I'll only discuss them here. The fallowing steps were taking directly out of a DIY guide I offer to those who would like to run their vehicles or home on hydrogen safely. The entire guide is available at http://www.agua-luna.com/guides.html

On demand h2 generators are a bit different from the Hollywood versions like seen Chain Reaction with Keanu Reeves, that tend to explode violently every time a film is being made. However when used in an on-demand system there is no storage of hydrogen and oxygen in its gas form, only liquid (water) and is only transformed into gas âon-demandâ in small cylinder size amounts. Itâs actually safer then gasoline as it doesnât evaporate, creating explosive fumes in the tank like gas.

Chemically

1. Youâll need a 6inch x 1ft schedule 40 pvc pipe. With pvc cement glue a cap on the bottom and use a screw on cap for the top. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, screwing in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).
2. Now crunch up a couple aluminum cans (beer cans, soda cans etc) and drop them into the pvc pipe, along with a couple cups of lye (Red Devil drain opener has lye in it, some Clorox and Dranoâs do to).
3. Then simply add water, screw on the top and wait a few minutes.

What happens in simplicity is that aluminum and lye donât really get along so they battle, and as always the innocent civilians (water H2O) that the most casualties, by giving up its hydrogen and oxygen. This then builds up in the void of the pipe and is ready to be vented into your engine, by opening the valve. You may need to start your engine on gas then switch it off after the hydrogen starts burning.

Electrical is a bit easier then Chemically.

1. Simply take a small solar panel 1.5 amps is what I use ($9 at harborfreight.com), connect the 2 wires from the panel +- to 2 conductors (carbon cores of batteries work well, just be careful removing it from the jacket), but any conductive material will work ie. Copper, aluminum, steel, etc.
2. Drop the wires into a water tank (I use 55gal drums), make sure they donât touch each other.
3. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, screwing in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).
4. Then simply add water, screw on the top cap and wait.
After a few hours tiny bubbles will form and rise off one conductor (thatâs hydrogen) and even smaller bubbles that just looks like foam will rise off the other (oxygen). I donât remember which likes the positive and which likes the neg hydrogen or the oxygen.

The third method is more complicated and is what I use for my vehicles. Itâs just a modified Joeâs Cell, thereâs a step by step DIY guide available to walk you threw the process here http://www.agua-luna.com/hydrogen.html It also covers the other 2 methods described in more detail.

The one EV car I currently have (have 2 vehicles that run on hydrogen also) I converted from a vw bug and is free to charge. As I live completely off the grid all my electricity comes from solar panels and 2 wind generators, which I a;sp built.

However I did charge up at Costco in Carlsbad California (I actually only drove up there to fill up) if I remember right it was around $2.00

Hereâs a list of other places you can charge up, donât know if there are any prices though.

http://www.evchargernews.com/#regions

Not sure if youâre interesting in doing it your self, but Iâd be willing to walk you step by step threw the conversion. I've converted 3 of my own cars (a datsun truck, ford ban, and a vw bug) and a few for neighbors. I've also converted cars to run on hydrogen, ethanol and biodiesel, by far EV is the easiest.
If youâre interested hereâs what it would entitleâ¦

- The engine compartment is first cleaned out of any gasoline components.
- Electric components are then installed in exchange.
- A battery bank is built and incorporated.
- Existing starter and driving systems are connected.
- Turn the key, step on the gas pedal sending more energy to the electric motor, & thus more power to the drive system, which in return creates more speed, more acceleration.
- The system has normal automotive top speeds and acceleration, typical to the vehicle your modifying. If your top speed was 85 mph and your acceleration was 1 mile per min, then this will be what your left with after the conversion.

The methods are extremely simple, making the process possible for anyone, everyone, ANYWHERE.

Typical tools, hardware & supplies are used, making access to parts available for all.

Electric Conversions can be easily accomplished in ANY model vehicle, even tractors, Generators, types of machinery, etc.

Project lengths range from 1 day to 1 month.
If youâre interested I wrote a guide on it which is available at http://www.agua-luna.com/guides.html

Hope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions if youâd like assistance in making your first self sufficient steps, Iâm willing to walk you step by step threw the process. Iâve written several how-to DIY guides available at http://www.agua-luna.com on the subject. I also offer online and on-site workshops, seminars and internships to help others help the environment.

Can you run hydrogen car conversion below freezing?

HardTech

How do you keep the water from freezing? Any ideas or techincal info?

Answer
i'm assuming you're talking about the HHO assist cars that have a bottle of water that's used to make HHO gas. The water has a little electrolyte mixed in, much like your car battery. This allows current to flow through the water, yet lowers the freezing point well below freezing. you may be able to check to what temperature with an electrolyte tester.

Has anyone had experience converting a car to run on grease or electricity?

I am looking into getting a kit to convert a used car to either run on grease or to run on electricity. I'd like to know of the experiences that some others have had going either of these two routes. Thank you.

i converted 1 car to run on ethanol, a truck tor un on biodiesel 2 cars to run on hydrogen and one electric. here's what info i have for you...

Where can my Hubbie and I find the best used PS2 games online?

xXx Gypsie

Looking for any and all genres in like new or new condition.

We have looked on craigslist and ebay, we don't trust them.

Thank you!

Answer
You should trust eBay because it has buyer protection, so you should trust them since their such a big company. If you don;t, you can always use PayPal if you don't want to "endanger" your credit card (the account will be linked to a bank account if you choose.) I also recommend you buy a PS3, PS2 is out. And even if you get "scammed" you can always file a report and sue, but it's only 20-40 bucks a game no big deal. And this never happens. Last time that happened it was like on the news when some guy refused to sell his car for such a low price that was bid when an auction ended, and the guy got in real big trouble. So you don't need to worry about it. I don't know much about Craigslist so I don't know if it's a scammer type of thing. All sellers are generally above 95% buyer satisfaction on eBat, if not 99 or 100. If you STILL INSIST ON NOT TRUSTING EBAY (WHICH IS, NO OFFENSE, WIERD, BECAUSE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE BUY FROM EBAY, JUST ASK SOME PEOPLE WHO HAVE AND HOW IT WAS) THEN LOOK IT UP ON AMAZON.

What is the best way to increase AdSense revenue?

I have a small personal blog, about my life with tinnitus and hyperacusis. I get about 30-50 visitors each day. I have AdSense ads on it, but, in the 5 days I have been using it, I have only made about $1.24. I really don't have enough money to spend on any advertising, and I have my blog listed on multiple blog directories. Any ideas on how to increase my AdSense income?

Answer
The good thing with Adsense is that it is not solely based on your traffic. You can have little traffic but if you have good paying keywords and highly responsive audience, then you can still earn good money

To increase Adsense revenue, experiment with the factors below

1. Responsiveness of audience to the ads = A travel website that provides information on travel to Spain will attract visitors looking for ways to arrange their travel and spend money on their vacation to Spain. Your site provides the info, but the ads will provide hotels, travel agencies, tourist destinations, car rentals -- ads that are likely to get the attention of the users of your site. This is a site that will most likely do well with Adsense. However, if you are a gaming website where the main purpose of the user is to play games on your site, then Adsense will not perform as well.

2. Ad format = some types of ads do better than others depending on your content and layout. In our case, large rectangles in the middle of the content is the best, while leaderboards do not generate as much as income. Skys are the worst for us. Experiment and measure the results via channels and see which formats work best for you.

3. Ad placement - check Google's heat map as they have tested where the best placements are https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=17954&ctx=en:search&query=adsense+heat+map&topic=0&type=f

4. Ad colors - sometimes ads blended into the content works wonders, but sometimes ads that contrast your site colors work best

5. Number of ad units on a page = we are allowed maximum of 3 ads + 1 ad links + 1 search box on a page. Maximize the allowed number based on the resulting look of your page (you don't want an overkill of ads). Users going to your page and reading your content may ignore the banner or rectangle at the top of the page, but may click on the ad at the bottom of the article

6. Smartpricing - the big unknown in Adsense. No one knows how this actually works. But it can affect the pricing of the ads on your site. If the advertiser paid for $0.50/click - but your site is smartpriced - then the cost may be discounted lower (e.g. $0.25). So you may try to develop a site based on high paying keywords but if smartpricing gets to you, then you may not get as much per click as what you are expecting from your keywords.

Here is Google's explanation of smart pricing https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=9562&query=smart+pricing&topic=0&type=f

Google's smart pricing feature automatically adjusts the cost of a keyword-targeted content click based on its effectiveness compared to a search click. So if our data shows that a click from a content page is less likely to turn into actionable business results -- such as online sales, registrations, phone calls, or newsletter signups -- we reduce the price you pay for that click.

How much can you make for having google adsense ads on your webpage?

big_j_gizz

What is the cost per click price and is there a limit per month on how much you can earn? Thanks.

Answer
You will never know the cost per click price as it depends on (a) bids of the advertisers which fluctuate; and (b) smartpricing which can discount the value of the click. Adsense is one of Google's main revenue sources, so the more money a publisher can bring in, the better for them. So no, there is no limit.

In terms of earning money on Adsense, your mileage varies. One website with 10,000 uniques a day can earn $50 a month while another may earn $5,000. It is not easy to predict how much you will earn from Adsense. The only way you can learn about how your site will perform with Adsense is through trying it.

The amount you can earn will depend on the

What are all the problems Toyota is having?

El Manio

I just heard of Toyota having a few problems, which with Toyota standards should be fixed soon, but what are they, and are they solved and where are they mainly happening.
And is it a good idea to get a 2010 Camry as my first car?

Answer
I haven't had one single problem with my 2010 Corolla that now has about 15,000 miles on it. The problems that you see in the news about Toyota are the same kinds of problems all American cars have had lately. They aren't being reported, so it looks like a thing unique to Toyota. Take a look when you have a lot of time, here:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/defects/defectsearch.cfm

Look at as many different models as you care to.

If you want a 2010 Camry, buy a used one with very low mileage from a Ford dealer, that was traded in for a new Ford after the hysteria over Toyota began. That's how the Big 3 are getting out of bankruptcy. If you want a new Camry, get a 2011. In 2010 a lot ofthings were introduced as new featured, such as electric power steering. This hasn't been a problem with Toyotas, but Chevy has had a terrible problem with them suddenly oscillating left and right by themselves until the car was stopped and restarted. Nothing in the news about that dangerous defect.

How much money in gas could I save by getting a Toyota Prius hybrid?

Richie B

I am trying to figure out if I should get a Toyota Yaris sedan or spend the extra $10,000 and get a Prius. Will the prius pay off in the long run?
This would be a second car. We are going to get the prius or the yaris.

Answer
It takes 10 years for a Prius to break even. Hybrids arent the best technology for better fuel economy anyway. A clean diesel can get 60 mpg easy, while costing thousands less than a hybrid system. Diesels are most common in European cars, and manufacturers like Volkswagen sell them in the US as options. The Prius is a much better car than the Yaris, although I would not suggest either mainly because of Toyotas falling quality. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/10/toyota_quality.html
The Yaris was called a "disappointment" by ConsumerReports, which has long been criticised for being biased towards imports. The Yaris is the ultimate penalty box. A good medium between the two cars is the upcoming Saturn Astra. It has been rumored to have a hybrid option, and if it does will be much more affordable than a Prius. The upcoming Saturn Astra is light years ahead of the Yaris. It is a rebadged Opel Astra, one of the most popular cars in Europe. Nothing will be changed from the original Opel in its transition to a Saturn. It will be made in Belgium and imported into the US. Here are some reviews of the Astra.
http://www.caranddriver.com/autoshows/12137/2008-saturn-astra.html
http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/12767/upfront-news-2008-saturn-astra.html
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/21/candd-crowns-saturn-astra-safest-car-under-25k/
http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/12859/2008-saturn-astra.html
The Astra has already proven to be a great car, since it has been on sale in Europe since 2004. The Astra is more refined than the Yaris, not even going into its driving dynamics. Compare these pictures:
http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpcontainers/do/MediaNav/year=2008/make=Saturn/model=Astra/firstNav=Gallery/photoId=20142846#

The gas mileage should be about the same on the Yaris and Astra, since every other car currently in that segment is within 2 mpg. Here is a side to side comparison of the Yaris VS the base Astra. Just look at the features, the Astra is hands down a better package, not including the longer warranty and better saftey.

GM is now on top of JD Powers reliability/quality ratings with Buick. The tests were on cars from 2004 to see how they held up. This does have some faults since Saturn has completley overhauled their lineup, and currently the oldest car in their lineup is the 2006 Sky.

When is China going to 'full-scale' reform to fight inequality?

By Boris Cambreleng | AFP News,

China's stated aim to narrow the income gulf between its sports-car driving elite and vast numbers who still live in poverty will need radical political and economic changes to work, say economists.

Long-delayed "proposals on the distribution of income" were announced this week ahead of Sunday's Lunar New Year, as hundreds of millions working in cities returned to their rural homes, many without running water or heating.

Beijing promised to improve the lives of these rural migrant workers, who are denied equal access to health, education and housing services in cities under a half-century old system of residency permits known as "hukou".

"Migrant workers from rural areas will be assisted to register as citizens and entitled to all basic public services in the cities," according to the measures quoted by the official Xinhua news agency.

But the aspirational document was generally short of concrete steps.

Tax reductions will be "promoted" for low- and middle-income earners, it said, and the government will "target" reducing the number of people living on less than $1 a day by around 80 million by 2015.

In 2011 Xinhua said 150 million Chinese live on less than that, a stark contrast to the country's image as the world's manufacturing heartland, the holder of its biggest foreign exchange reserves and a motor of global recovery.

The extent of inequality in China, particularly between urban and rural areas, saw authorities refuse to publish the country's Gini coefficient, a commonly used measure of inequality, for more than 10 years.

In December a research centre which operates under China's central bank said its Gini coefficient stood at 0.61, one of the highest in the world. A Gini figure of zero represents perfect equality of income and 1 total inequality.

Last month China's government said the figure was 0.47, higher than the United States, and above the 0.4 figure widely cited as a "danger level" for social discontent.

Research centre director Gan Li questioned the official statistic, arguing that the government "has not published the percentage of people who refused to answer" and "the richer they are, the more likely they are to refuse to answer".

Like other economists, Gan believes the authorities underestimate the incomes of the wealthy, who hide a significant portion of their earnings.

China has seen an explosion in its luxury goods market -- which grew 56 percent last year -- as Western makers of products from designer handbags to yachts and supercars pile in.

The boom casts doubt on government statistics saying the top 10% of earners had an average annual income of 59,000 yuan ($9,500) in 2011, economist Wang Xiaolu said recently in Caijing, a respected economics journal. "Solving the income distribution issue requires full-scale reform," he wrote on his blog.

Aware of the growing resentment against the rich and endemic corruption, the Communist Party is urging officials to be frugal, pledging strict controls on government spending on banquets, car purchases and overseas travel.

But many observers say that fundamental tax reforms are essential to create more equal income distribution.

The government plan said only that property tax, which some cities have been experimenting with, will be extended, and inheritance tax will be introduced "at the appropriate time".
Local governments derive much of their income from land sales, leading to many farmers being evicted from their land and compensated below market rates.

The newly released plan says that farmers will be "guaranteed proceeds" from land sales, but Hu called for greater changes to China's system of property rights, where all land is officially owned by the state or rural collectives. "Farmers should be able to develop or sell their land, which is their collective property," he said.

Mao Yushi, a guru of economic liberalisation in China, called for reforms to the financial system, where firms with close connections to the state receive the vast majority of bank loans, leaving small-business owners short of capital.

"The princelings can go to the bank and get money just on the strength of their status and get rich on this basis," he said, referring to the children of members of the communist elite.

"The two-tier society of rich and poor is everywhe
The distinctive characteristic of China is people who have special powers and bully others."
Thanks for the 2 great answers.

Now I start to realize the reason China's inequality problem can never be solved after reading CCPkv's long answer which is somewhat like an emperor asking a beggar on the street why the latter doesn't go home to cook himself a steak instead of searching for food in trash bins.

Answer
There isn't anything the elite can really do to change the monstrosity created by CCP corruption. It runs too deep and too far to an extreme. The People no longer believe that the government has their best interests at heart...

"Limited capitalism" should NOT have been instituted ONLY for the benefit of greedy criminals. Instead of promoting unity and balance in a society, the CCP chose to employ selfishness and strong-arm tactics to abuse the poor.

Perhaps the CCP cannot learn from history, and that's why they constantly try to change it via propaganda. "French Revolution"????

The CCP f***ed-up!

How would you rate Obama's management of the Iraq War?

STRAUSSIAN

If you do a news search on "Iraq," the stories are still very grim - bombings, assassinations, kidnappings, etc. This story from only an hour ago says that seven people have died in the latest wave of Iraq attacks, including a professor at Tikrit University who go nailed by a "sticky bomb" placed on his car:

http://dawn.com/2012/12/13/iraq-attacks-kill-seven-inmate-detonates-explosives/

I would have to give Obama an "F" for his management of the Iraq War. He has really managed to squander the victory in Iraq that George W. Bush handed him in January 2009. This disrespects the American, British, and other coalition soldiers who won that war. Thanks, Obama.

Look at Wikipedia's article on the war in Iraq after the US withdrawal in December 2011:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_insurgency_%28post_U.S._withdrawal%29

More than 4,000 Iraqis have died in militant attacks since then.

How can Obama fans possibly defend his performance in Iraq? Should Obama be impeached for losing the war?

Answer
Squander the victory, hilarious. Not in my lifetime has there been a more incompetently and disastrously run war than Bush's Iraqi adventure. It's not Obama's responsibility what Iraqis are doing after Bush destroyed their country. Any blood is on YOUR hands.

Why do natural disasters in the US bring out the worst in non-Americans?

Poison Ivy

I can't believe some of the truly cruel remarks I'm reading on some foreign news sites regarding Hurricane Irene and the death/destruction it caused in the US.

Some people (mostly Brits, French, Australians, etc) actually believe the US should have been able to come through this with absolutely no damage/deaths.

Do these people actually live on Earth?? Have they ever been in a hurricane?

Answer
Did you see some of the Brits on BBC complaining about how "their holiday was ruined" and how "they've seen worse storms in Scotland"? I got a huge kick out of that. I live in England for school and I can tell you the worse I've ever seen there is a rainstorm. No, not a thunderstorm or flooding, a rainstorm. Not even any lightning.

Basically, they have no clue. Ignorance is bliss, huh? Must feel really good to care more about your stupid holiday than those who have lost their homes, cars, and lives.

How do we know when car companies are going to make the next generation of a certain model?

I'm a fan of late models because they usually are improvements of the earlier models. Another reason why is so that I don't have to buy the parts that make my car look like the "kouki" model or perform like one. In other words, I want the whole package at once! How can we find out when they will come out with a new generation so I know when I can buy the car I really like during it's last year of production?

How much child support is Jon going to have to pay?

Kerry B

Seriously, a ton! Besides, he is going to spend a boatload on some expensive NY apartment, cars, women, and partying. He'll be broke in 5 years and be begging Kate to take him back. He is going to crawl back to her with his dink between his legs. What a douche bag for leaving 8 kids. Jon, isn't not about YOU anymore!

Answer
Hopefully none, as he should get custody, or at least there be Bird Nest Custody.

I find it interesting that with her abusive attitude toward him that she filed first, than now claims they need protection from him. She's more the douche bag than him.

Which car is more reliable for daily usage?

*Cherry*

I am planning on purchasing a car for this coming summer. It will be my 2nd car. These are my options....

1) 2007 Nissan 350z
2) 2004 Infiniti G35
3) 2003 Porsche Boxster convertible

My favorite (and the one I am very excited about) is the Porsche.

I want to know which one will be more reliable because I need it to drive to work (45min commute) and to school (1hr commute) I am pretty young also and most people i have asked do not want me to purchase the porsche. I did have to work pretty hard to save up for a nice car so I want to make sure it is reliable :) I am planning on keeping one of these for about 4yrs.

Answer
I would say the Infiniti. But I would also reccomend the G37XS or G37S, as you will get more of the "fun factor" with those. The XS is AWD and GREAT in snow if needed. The reason for my reccomend action is insurance will be a little less pricey, you would be getting a luxury car, and its sporty and very quick.

Would I be made fun of for driving a 2013 Buick Lacrosse?

Mht

I am about to get my license within a matter of months, and I'm looking at cars. I'm really into the 2013 Buick Lacrosse, but my parents keep telling me that it's an old persons car and no one will respect me if I drive one. I'm going to get the Touring edition if I get the the car.

Answer
Anybody who makes fun of you for having that nice of a car probably drives either a Ford Escort or Chevy Cavalier. The Lacrosse is a great car and it is really cool car to have for your first car. It is big enough to hold your friends and it still gets good mpg. I would love to drive that car but I still have a great car (2012 Jeep Liberty).
