Is it morally acceptable for TV News Broadcasters to air graphic violence?

David

Is it morally acceptable for TV News Broadcasters to air graphic violence, such as police shootings, car chases, and so on, on live TV? Why or why not?

Answer
News is an entertainment business, not an information business. They want viewers, pure and simple. If shock sells to the sponsors then that's what they will show. They just need to stay as credible as it takes to keep viewers. THe rest is up for grabs. Don't believe anything you read and about half of what you see. The odd thing... I am an optimist...lol

what should i do with this car i just bought ... HELLLP PLAESE?

MotherNatu

heres my story:
i just bought this car out of desperation, its a 1993 olds mobile, kinda old im holding the title with expired tags, well im kinda regreting this large purchase (today) , i guess i wanna get rid of it, so how can i do that i cant put the ad back in the newspaper that would be weird (rite?). is there a way to pawn it or get cash for it, im located in western part of Colorado help i dont know what i just got myself into ....
this is my frist car Ever! , can i return it too her i now see that she did'nt sign the title compleatly/ properly..

Answer
First of all, I live in Colorado and I've worked in the car business here for years. I can tell you that you don't owe any back taxes on the previous owner's expired plates. Those aren't YOUR plates, so it's not YOUR problem. That might be true in other places, but not here.

Second of all, you really should title the car yourself before you try and sell it. The good news is that you don't actually have to register the car to title it - you can title it for about $15 + whatever sales tax you owe. That shouldn't be more than a couple hundred dollars (hopefully much less). No big deal that way and you're 100% legal.

While you're titling your car, you can request a temporary tag too. I think they'll give you a 30 day temp for $2.50. That gives you a month to sell it without having to pay registration (might be a little different where you're at, but that's how it is in the Denver metro).

Pawning your car isn't a good idea. They won't give you much and it never really works out in the consumer's favor.

Craigslist is easily the best place to sell this car of yours. I would suggest you list it immediately. Put up some photos and get it listed. Make sure your ad says "cash only" and sell it to anyone with a reasonable offer.

Finally, as for insurance, again the info you've been given isn't 100% correct. If the person test driving your car has insurance, the car is covered. Insurance (in Colorado at least) follows both the insured driver and the car. That's why Colorado residents should never buy rental car insurance. Every CO resident is already covered by their personal policy.

Just make sure whoever test drives your car has insurance. Ask to see proof of insurance (not to mention a driver's license). You probably want to hold some collateral too.

The link below has some good tips for selling your car yourself.

Why are women complaining about getting treated equally in this article?

this article talks about women's car insurance and about how now women have to pay the same car insurance. The funny thing the article is written in a negative slant. Portraying this as a bad thing for women or that women are being treated badly now even though you know if it was the other way around (women paying more for something and men then being made to as well) it would be seen as a victory for equality. Take a look at the women interviewed in this article, whining she has to pay more now. What's wrong ladies, I thought you wanted equality? Well here it is ladies here is what it tastes like

hilarious part in the article

"A European court ruling last year found that gender discrimination in insurance was against the law."

It took a court ruling to realize discrimination against men was wrong. Say it all doesn't it?
@prettyLiars, should we also charge women more for health insurance since they go to the doctor far more than men do?
women are not safer drivers, they just drive far less than men do

Answer
I've long thought it odd that it's been illegal for employers to gender discriminate based on real statistics, but perfectly legal for insurance companies to. It seems to me that gender discrimination should be either legal or not legal across the board.

The women who are complaining are mostly those who feel they deserve to have their cake and eat it too.

Finally seeing equality being rammed down the throats of those who constantly whine they don't have it, and when they get it, what do they do, they whine that they have it

Answer
Not to play the devil's advocate here, but women pay like 150 bucks to get their hair done like once a month or 2, whereas guys pay like 12 bucks. I don't see you fighting for women's hair cuts to be cheaper, or for men's to be more expensive. They have to buy tampons, we don't, they have to buy bras, we don't.

On another note.... Its about damn time.... It sickens me when a I hear what my girl friends pay for car insurance.... I have a clean record (for over 10 years now) and I know females who have been in multiple at-fault accidents that still pay less than me.

Answer
I've long thought it interesting and inconsistent that companies legally can not gender discriminate based on statistical gender risk, but insurance companies can.

I think it make sense to hold insurance companies to the same non-discrimination practice we hold others which is why we should also get rid of legislation that allows or even encourages gender discrimination.

Add: To answer your question, women, or feminists are complaining because they want it both ways. They are against statistical discrimination that works against them, but want to allow statistical discrimination when it advantages them.

Answer
What I don't get is why aren't men getting a significantly lower insurance premium? If women have to pay more, why aren't men paying less to equal out the premiums so the insurance company gets the same total amount of premiums that they got before? They say women are going to pay a lot more, but men are only going to get a little lower? That makes no sense. If the average women's premium goes up $500/year, then the average man's premium should go down $500 right? Sounds like the insurance company is going to use this to screw everyone and make more for themselves.

*sigh* But, yea, if you haven't figured out that women want nothing to do with true equality, then you just aren't paying attention. If women could actually earn equality, they would have done it. But they can't, so they have to have it GIVEN to them by courts and government. So, of course, they are going to scream bloody murder when they are forced take on equal responsibility and accountabilities. They never wanted to drink the crap they shovel out, they just want to play victims and get free stuff.
