My scariest moment was last years christmas road trip to gold coast queensland from sydney(australia).
My dad was driving at 120km/hr (about 75mph) on the Pacific Highway (Route 1). There were about 9 cars following my car because we were the car in front leading the way. About 650 km into the trip there was this straight stretch of road that goes for 1km+. Anyways a truck was coming towards my car in the oppsoite direction and then out of no where this purple car overtakes the semi trailer truck from behind, crosses into my lane heading straight for my car.

The car somehow overtook the truck and cut in front of the truck back into his lane at the very last second missing my car by inches. We were lucky that my dad was alert and slammed on the brakes when he saw the car coming (120km/h down to 80km/h in a second or 2). At that moment when the car was in my lane, i was thinking 2 cars heading for each other in the same lane with cars behind my car= Head on crash+10plus car pile up+semi trailer truck crashing through car pile up like dominos = Death.

Funny thing was, from that moment on, everyone in the car stayed awake for the remaining 400km of the trip.

For those of you not from Austraila, heres a pic of the exact road i was reffering to

WOW.....I have had some real "heart stoppers".......
First one in 1964.....was a passenger with my brother and his friend....(No seat belts in those days).
The idiot was driving too fast and showing off. We ended up fishtailing all over the road and in the ditch sideways..Lucky we weren't ejected from the car and killed...I was 17 at the time. BUT....that was nothing compared to my Father's wrath! Four months later. my brother was killed in the same car.....He was a passenger with the same friend...only it was not his fault...They were hit head on by a drunken driver and my brother was ejected through the windshield (no seat belts) Took me until I was 21 years old to get the courage to get my license.....Has made me very aware of the fools on the road and cautious. Always make sure I am courteous to my fellow travelers and don't take chances in bad weather

It was a nice fall day, a little warm, and me and my friend were driving through the mountains just looking at the foliage when we came upon a group of hikers walking down the side of the road. It was kind of warm and one of the hikers decided to take off his shirt. Well, being the gay tramp that he is, he practically broke his neck watching this guy do it as we drive past, and he kept on watching turning around to strain to see and he drove us right off a cliff. It was only about a 20 foot drop but it totaled the car, he hurt his neck (served him right), and I had to have one stitch put in my finger.

The cops laughted really hard when he told them what happened. I wasn't too happy.
