I had to call the cops because the neighbor hit my car and refused to give me his insurance info- I saw him do it.

BUT, the cop is saying that because the neighbor's bumper isn't bent or cracked that he doesn't believe us...

The neighbor's bumper is thick plastic, mine is metal.

Answer
it does depend on the gauge of the metal on your car, also the type of metal
the same goes for the plastic or composite bumper on the neighbors car, new composits are very resiliant and resist dents cracks and scratches
get a second opinion just because he is a cop does not mean that he is an auto expert
this is all to say it is extremely possible and you should get on top of it before its too late

Some questions about cooling system in the car?

Veraniego

So as I am having some issue with my car I'm after a bit more understanding, can you please tell me about....

The coolant temperature sensor and/or the radiator fan switch... the question here is, which of these 2 elements is the one who actions the radiator fan to work?

Can you please explain how these things work and how to find out wether they are working tr not?

Answer
I have to be honest with you about one thing, when asking questions on any site like this, complete info is required to give a proper answer. For example, your asking about coolant temp sensor and radiator fan switch and what operates what. Depending on the car make, engine, etc, depends on the answer to your question. Some engines use both and others use just one. The coolant temp sensor is the sensor that a cars ECM uses to help regulate fuel issues among other things, depending on engine temp, and one of those is sending a signal to the ECM so it can turn on and off the fan relay power/ground depending on car make.Yes, a radiator fan switch can turn the fan on and off, but auto makers realized as of 5 years ago or so that rather then have switch and extra wiring in a engine harness turning the cooling fan on and off at a predetermined temp that a simple signal from the ECM could do the same job with a relay in the power dist box. The coolant temp sender is how the temp gauge in the dash shows what the engine temp is, some engines the sensor/sender operate through the same unit. So now you are completely confused, year, make, model and engine size please. Thank you.
