Aussies who live in New Zealand?

Melle

Ok, i've been considering moving to Auckland New Zealand for the past few months, i live in Adelaide South Australia and i'm sick of the extreme weather changes and the fact housing is so expensive here. I just want to know is there any other Aussies who have moved to New Zealand, can you tell me was it easy to migrate? and what's the country like compared to Australia

Answer
It easy to migrate as long as you have Australian citizenship. Just hop on a plane and come on over!
Ok the bad news. NZ has been hit by the recession like the rest of the world. However our economy was in a bad way before that so expect to earn a lot less than your Aussie mates. The cost of living in our major centres, Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch is pretty much the same as Australia. However if you decide to live in a smaller city like New Plymouth or Hamilton be prepared to get bored as there's not usually very much happening.
The good news, the population of NZ is small so you won't have to push and shove to get a train! (well not as much!) Our weather is pretty good. We don't get the high temperautres that you guys get but its a diferent kind of heat and you will burn quickly so you need to cover up with sunblock! Wellington is very windy though and the weather can get pretty rough down there. But a beautiful day in Wellington takes your breath away.
NZ has gorgeous scenery and is very green. No water restrictions here. Enjoy your long shower and wash your car whenever you like!
NZ is very multi cultural however you will encounter some racism in the major cities as you do with most cities around the world.
You can't live more than 1.5 hours away from the beach in NZ which is always a bonus!

Hope it helps...

Would you rather live in the U.S. or New Zealand?

And why

Answer
Well as an American who immigrated to New Zealand have experienced both countries. There are certainly upsides to each. Neither is a terrible place to live, but individual circumstances make the biggest difference. Living in Auckland is like being in a whole other country to Invercargill.

The US has the advantage of being much wealthier. Americans drive bigger, newer cars, enjoy much faster internet, pay less for food and electronic goods, housing etc. and earn much higher wages. If you are unhappy with your life in one area of the US you can move somewhere new with a different culture, accent, history without ever leaving the country.

The downside is living in a very materealistic culture with a vast gulf between the wealthy and the poor. The culture of fear is what really annoyed me. Thanks to 24-hour news networks Americans are constantly afraid of things harming their families. Everything is blown out of proportion. There's also the culture war between liberals and conservatives that takes on a more venemous nature than in NZ.

New Zealand is a peaceful and beautiful nation that combines the best aspects of the landscape of California, Hawaii and Vermont. Violent crime rates are lower and people feel much safer. The low population means overcrowding, traffic and pollution are smaller problems than in the US. Life moves at more laid-back, slower pace. Even visitors from Hawaii have told me NZ is way more laid-back culturally. People are less confrontational, less blunt. Mostly free medical care, university education and stong social services are also big plusses.

The downside is that NZ's infrastructure hasn't been well developed. Rationed internet (bought per gig/per month), motorways that end at the city limits and total lack of a national rail network are symptoms of this. All goods are more expensive and wages are 40% lower than just across the Tasman in Australia. Housing generally lacks insulation and central heating, meaning the cool, damp winters are shockingly cold for Americans used to modern housing. Cars are significantly older (averaging 14-15 years old) and petrol is at least twice as expensive as in the US.

Personally I chose New Zealand and I've never regretted that choice. I'd never move back to the US because my life is in NZ and as a teacher I'd never want to work in the US education system. New Zealand has one of the best public systems in the world, ranked far above the US. New Zealand may be less wealthy but it does more with less money. However I've spent my whole adult life in NZ and I imagine it would be tougher to adjust for someone moving as an adult because it would likely mean having to take a serious pay-cut.

To help the environment, should car manufacturers stop making cars for 5 years?

ZORRO

Look at all the new & used cars on the lots of car dealers in America. Just let people who want a different car, buy one that's sitting on the lots. Outlaw gas guzzlers. School busses smoke like a chimney. Mexicans who do yard work, collect junk, etc. to make a living, drive some trucks that smoke yet they don't get a ticket. 18-wheelers even blow smoke from their vertical tail pipe stacks. Many other problems, think anything will ever be done about vehicle pollution?

Answer
Your many ideas are LOGICAL.
Bad news is humanity has an economically based system of supporting all the various fields: agro, manufacture, support - that to take away the gas/diesel engine would collapse the whole worlds system and no one will do this.
On smaller scales, like Island nations, like Fiji, Samoa, possibly larger like New Zealand your idea could be possible - but great courage at such a scale would be amazing - the sacrifice of profit stops me from thinking this could happen. Well Brazil has changed to ethanol from sugar cane - and lowered dramatically their oil import - but they still use gas/diesel.
Humanity needs a totally new power supply to make the gas/diesel unpopular to the people that make money. If it costs more (like double) to have gas/diesel or use the new technology - the people with money will go with the new technology as it costs so much less. Then they make more money and the pollution goes down, and humanity is not stuck using only gas/diesel. A win-win eons from now, sadly.
Well as I write this - it's with my pessimistic attitude. Of course if humanity took a courageous and radical step - ANYTHING is possible. That's how humans got to the moon - radical thinking and courage. I guess if your over 40 you see little change for the future. If your under 30 no one has forced you into a rut, and anything in the future looks possible.
Keeping politicians and law enforcement honest - and stopping poluting cars and trucks is what is supposed to happen today. Smog checks and 1-800 numbers to report exhaust law breakers is tough because people have to be involoved 24/7 and many do not want to deal with mad, angry people (Dangerous too) over exhaust smoke.

Is the conversion of running your car from gas to water a scam?

Answer
Here's an honest, non-biased answer:
1. Try it for yourself. Run some electricity through water and baking soda, and hold a lighter to gas bubbles it produces.. OR full a balloon with the gas it produces , let the balloon next to a lit candle, and stand way back.
2. Here's an nbc news video where they non-biasely tested an HHO setup for themselves. http://www.wptv.com/content/specialreports/story.aspx?content_id=74b15465-2ebb-49e0-acb1-939c4bb13a28

People who shout it's a scam are too lazy to try it.
People who make outrageous claims, are usually using wishful thinking or selling you something.
People who actually use this, are saving lots of money.

If you want free plans to build your own and try it, I have free plans on my myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/trinityenergies

NOTE:
To the yahoo member below by the ID name of "dontspam",
I've never followed your links nor paid attention to your constant followups to my answers here. But since you keep brining that up in your edits, I followed that one link.
I would enter that challenge under the following conditions:
1. The million dollars would be PROMISED me in a legal contract.
2.That legal contract and contest be held within the United States, so I'm sure of the payoff.
3. The contest currently includes terms that discriminate against older vehicles. It specifies "Late model" in the terms. Any vehicle after '98 is likely to have a sophisticated set of o2 sensors which will detect the extra presence of oxygen in th exhaust and enrichen the fuel mixture. The contest must be permitting my current vehicle of use - my 94 Mazda.
4. A certified mechanic perform the road test under CONSTANT video surveillance to document the entire test from start to finish. I'm pretty sure that my current 78 MPG (yes, it has gone up in the past 2 weeks) average will be more than sufficient to prove OVER a 20% increase from what the standard economy ratings of my vehicle.
I know that my stipulations would not be met because the challenger:
1. is currently not legally bound to pay the million if he's wrong.
2. wouldn't post someone who does win anyway.
3. Isn't warming to have the entire test performed by a NON-BIAS, certified mechanic on ANY vehicle. Meaning - he's afraid of losing something.. perhaps a million dollars or his larger-than-science ego?

"dontspam", I have little respect for you and the new zealand website you continue to follow up my answers with. Not because you call me a liar, but because you haven't tried an HHO generator out for yourself - and you are obviously a non-educated individual. It makes sense that there's always someone trying to rip you off, but it's less enticing for you to stop being so LAZY and actually hook a set of jumper cables up to two stainless steel plates in container of water and light the hydrogen it produces.

You keep saying that people like myself are in this just for the money and are lying about results.
1. I have FREE plans of my designs put up on my site. I ask for nothing and charge nothing. There are hundreds of people who I can get to testify that I have spent moreso hundreds of emails and personal messages just helping them setup and troubleshoot their HHO generators for FREE.
2. There are scam artists in everything - HHO included.
That's why we encourage people to do the testing, work, research, and science themselves. We offer our findings, designs, and results to help them in the right direction. HHO isn't our only work, we also do Solar, Wind, and any other verifiable Alternative Energy.
When we started, we approached HHO with a scientific mind - we didn't pre-conceive that it worked or didn't work until we TRIED IT FOR OURSELVES.
3. A 20% increase can easily be achieved by changing one's driving habits. A 120-300% increase - is no placebo effect.

Seriously man, get a life and consider going back to the 10th grade and sitting in on a few science classes.

How to find t in a compound interest equation? Different form of the original, includes k?

The equation is B = {A[(1+r/n)^nt -1}/1-(1+r/n)^-n/k.
I know that finding the equation for t (all the other variables are solved for) involves using natural log (ln), but I can't figure it out for the life of me. Anybody help?

What are all the locations where birds/fish (any animals) have died and the amount?

Mario

Like stated in the above question where are all the locations worldwide where birds/fish have died with no explanation in the past week?
Also what are the number dead?

Answer
Brazil, New Zealand, Florida, Maryland, Texas, Kentucky, Arkansas, Louisiana, Sweden, Italy, and England

Arkansas- 100,000 dead drum fish, and the i think it was 5,000 (or 3,000, i'm not sure, sorry!) blackbirds.
Texas, Kentucky, Louisiana- Thousands 'American Coots' and Sparrows found dead.
Maryland- 2 million fish dead.
Florida - Thousands of fish dead.
New Zealand- Hundreds of dead 'Snappers'.
Sweden- 50 'Jackdaws' dead.
England - 40,000 'Devil Crabs' washed up on shores.
Brazil - 100 tons of fish wash ashore.
Italy- 8000 Doves fall from the sky.

It's also crabs.
The scientist and researchers are trying to find out what happened.
They say it can be the end of the world, as stated in the bible (Night Line says this, i'm not saying this personally) and it can also be a sign from the Mayans prediction (Though i read on Yahoo! News that the people who studied the Mayans prediction read it wrong, and theres actually like, 100 more years or something till the Mayans prediction of the world ending). Or it can be just pollution, or as the researcher said, "The black birds can't see in the dark like owls. Just like, humans, if we walk around at midnight outside, we can't see very well. It's the same for the birds. If they were to leave their perch at night-time, they could have ran into a tree, house, car, eachother, mailbox, etc." Or it could have been their navigation thing.

But, animals don't just die. There's always a reason.
