In the news - Did New York police murder a black man exiting a club the day before his wedding?

50 rounds...isn't that a bit excessive?
Hey Richard, you look very cute in that Santa Claus cap. Wanna go camping??

Answer
According to the news, the alleged suspect and his friends were at a strip club that was about to be shut down because of the problems it caused. One of the suspects mentioned getting a gun. The suspects then struck an officer with their car and then rammed an undercover police vehicle.
Although the suspects did not know about the undercover operation, their actions were aggressive and violent. Striking the officer is aggravated assault, ramming a vehicle (if it was occupied) would also be either aggravated assault or reckless endangerment (both are felonies).
When the officer was struck with the vehicle, it became a deadly force issue. The officers are justified in responding with deadly force. Unlike the movies, people don't fall down or fly into the next room when they are shot. Often, people can absorb several rounds with no initial response. There were 4 men in the suspect vehicle. You shoot until you stop the threat.

If you don't like the way these officers do their job, get off your uninformed judgmental backside and become a cop --- show us how it is done. Or are you too scared ?

When and where did the âBlack and Whiteâ Police car originate?

Richard

The oldest reference I can find is for the mid-1930âs in New York City. Were the NYPD cars the first?

Answer
Richard,
Finding an original date and city of origin (when & where) is proving to be tough (at least for me). So far I have only been able to determine the "why", but I'll keep digging.

Police and fire fighter myths
By Lance Bailey | Sunday, January 28, 2007, 07:30 AM

"Sgt. Shaun Pendleton, public information officer for the Longview Police Department, responded to the question about black and white squad cars:

There really isnât much out there on this. The basic consensus is that way back when Henry Ford told people buying cars that they had their choice of colors: black, black, and black! Also the wide range of colors didnât become available for many years and you basically got your car in either black or white, so to make the police cars look different from any other car, they made them black and white instead of just one color."
