Mahathma: you travelled all over the world without wearing a shirt, with a wood half shoe. you touched every inch of land in india by your walkings. you collected money and handedover without taking a paise where no accounts.
Nehru: why you chose leaving a luxury life. you are born to a rich famous advocate. no time even to take care of your wife kamala and also not took care your daughter indira priyadarshini. you took care of indian people. you struggled for the freedom and ruled india and done good.
kamaraj: you thought of married life will spoil the life and you always thought of the welfare of people. you are a king maker, but hate becoming a king. you left your highest post to serve the people. you asked the police who came to protect you, to go and do their duties saying that why protection where i am with my people. This is an example how you loved your people. you arranged mid-day meals to the poor children. you brought neyveli, Bhel to tamilnadu.
But,
see our leaders with bullet proof car, bullet proof dais, staying away and afraid of their own people. meeting people with black cat protection, disturbing common people by your travels. you are on dais with fear. you ask your people to stay 100 meters away. The people also afraid to go near you. The caste and religion are ruling the country. some leaders are taking Ambedkar protections, some leaders are taking gandhi protections, some leaders are still biting thakurs, agarwals and bramins forgetting that the said bramins are also indians and true nationals.
There are rich people who ran business, industries etc., but now the rich are only politicians and it is secret how they became rich among richest though they have no proper incomes.
But, we are living in free india, breathing freedom freely in memory of you !!!

I understand that you asked this answer to our leaders only, I am not a leader. I may dare to answer this question.....
You gave examples of many leaders, I think, at that time scenario of India was different. A resentment had grown on each section of society, and over entire India (British occupied area from Lahore to Kanyakumari, Gujarat to Dhaka). Then our national leaders emerged. Oh course they had a daring to speak in front of Britishers. On contrary Indian mass also admired them, because we all were having common problem (i.e. urge of independence). We all were (made) so influenced towards our motherland that we forgot problems of water, land, food, population, economy. since there were Britishers to think over these issues (how much they were doing working I dont know)
Now when we got command over our self, our problems increased. We (leaders) have to think over many issues. their work may/ may not be liked by all sections of society. Now exception have grown, Kaveri issue, LTTE issue, Pakistan issue, Bihar issue, North eastern infiltration, IT sector, economic inflation, poverty, many many folds problems are increased.
They (all leaders and Indian mass) were having common issue at that time. now we are different, we have 28 states and 7 union territories and more states are demanded. Each try to defy other.
Level of corruption increased. Media became pessimistic, wrong news and in different form are delivered. We all became pessimistic and in this course we are choosing wrong leaders.
I am presently in an engineering college of an elite university created by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. We all know how he made this university, just by asking money from entire India, and he dared to name it as Hindu University at that time. Student have resentment but "No student" (among my circle) here is interested in joining politics including me. Just because we need safe food, water, shelter.
We have questions but not conclusion......
