How do I use the VIN or SN to verify a muscle car's authenticity?

1970 car info on ... They provided the most info on F&F4 Charger on their June 2009 issue

There is a 1970 Doge Challenger that I'd like to buy, especially because it has the 426 Hemi badge.

How do I use the VIN and/or serial numbers to verify that the engine is actually a 426 and not just a badge that someone stuck on the car?

Answer
Look for the build tag on the car. The VIN doesnt have all the info you need. This tag will be under the hood on the fender. if the build tag has been removed, then you definitely dont have a Hemi car. The owner would do everything he could to make sure that build tag wsa there if its a real hemi.

E Codes are the engine options. On the build tag, you should see an E74 for a hemi car. ANything else and you do not have a hemi car.

Here is a complete list of build codes so you can tell exactly what options are on the car

Are there any 1970's trucks with a manual transmission and a handbrake lever?

I'm looking into a more different project car and I don't know where to find info like this. Thanks for reading.

Answer
When we put bucket seats into our '65 C10 pickup we installled a NOS PINTO handbrake in it too.

But no stock pickup came with one.
