Answer
Which one? There are a few that are going to be out there soon.

--I _Like_ the styling on the Aptera 2e, always have. It looks like a UFO--or the Best Low-Budget Batmobile Ever. And it charges quickly if you can find a 220-volt outlet (like what some air-conditioners plug into). It does irk me a little that it has to straddle the fence between car and motorcycle like it does.

--Then there's the Nissan Leaf. This is the one that's been in the news. So far it seems to be a pretty decent machine--the first Zero Emissions Vehicle that actually looks and acts like a real car. However, there's _going_ to be range issues, and I'm not sure Nissan (or its partner company, Renault) really has plans to do something useful to expand the range of the car (there are things that could be done).

--Then there's the Chevy Volt, which is an Extended Range Electric Vehicle--it can switch into a fuel-burning mode to go farther. I'm a bit torn on this one--some early reports suggest that if you drive it like a normal car, bad habits and all, that it doesn't do much better than a Toyota Prius. But if you are careful and drive the thing intelligently, it's not hard to double that "miles per gallon" and get 100 miles out of a single gallon of gas.

There's others too, but those are the three that are mainstream, non-exotic (sorry Tesla roadster), and on their way to the public roads. So far it looks like there's progress being made, but as always, we need _better batteries_. o_o

So far so good. I'll wait until I can get a good deal, but yeah....

Does the Mégane Sport Hatch Renaultsport 230 have an available Automatic Transmission?

Im interested in this renault model, and their website is quite unclear. What Renault Megane with an available automatic has the highest HP. Thanks

Answer
According to my May 2007 edition of "What Car", the Megane 230 is not available with Auto transmission. Unfortunately I have some more bad news for you - the models with highest BHP are:

1) 1.9 dci 130 ( and the auto gearbox is only available as a £1,000 option ) - all models, the Expression, Dynamic and Privillege. Actual HP is 128 torque of 221 lb/tf, 0-60 mph in 9 secs, max speed 124mph, insurance grp 8, 51.4 average mpg. Cost varies depending on model from £15,570 - £17,170 Not inc auto option.

2) 2.0l VVT models, again auto gearbox is £1,000 option BHP 136 torque 141 0-60 9.2 secs, top speed 124 mph, ins grp 8 35.4 average mpg. Cost varies depending on model from £14,470 - £15970 not inc auto option.

All the high powered VW golfs are available with auto geabox as @£1,330 option e.g. 2.0 FSI GTI 197 BHP or even the R32. But you are looking at £21,500 mininum as normal on the road book price .

Hope that helps
