And also, if it is, on TV we obviously see what horrible things are happening so how far away is that going on from the tourist?
PS. And what EXACTLY is even going on? I've seen the news where kids are riding in army-type cars, bombs etc.. So I don't know if it is safe there?

Answer
Yes it's safe. 3 million tourists come & travel & go home safely every year.

Not sure what you've seen, but the missiles coming in, are in very specific limited areas right at the border where you wouldn't wander to as a tourist. (Town of Sderot south of Tel Aviv by at least a 1 hour bus ride.)

Here's the main travel site: http://www.goisrael.com They'll have more info on safety questions too. Before the trip it's good to check the US State Dept travel advisories for Americans going abroad. Under Israel they'll warn against going into the West Bank & Gaza (the Palestinian Authority areas which you have to go through obvious checkpoints so you won't be going accidently, & which is where Jewish kids are in army-type cars), but they will list the rest of Israel as safe... which is where you'd be anyway.

This part of YA gets a lot of trolls... so chances are soon some will be by to try to claim it's not safe... but notably none of them have been to Israel!!

@JohnE's
usual YOUTUBE (not an accurate data source) videos are cuts & pastes. There's a guy with camera crew who tells Jews Hitler should have finished the job, then uses the reactions. News programs that are cut off or mistranslated... Stuff like that by people who have nothing better to do than try to create more animosity in the world. Christians are welcome in Israel & come back glowing from their trips.

@Steel
Since you're the same person as JohnE, of course you agreed. Rachel Corrie was in a war zone protecting ISM (a terrorist protecting organization). So no need for you to make up about nazis.

Why is the media biased against good news?

Q. When I read the papers or watch TV, I hear about a car-bomb here and an earthquake there. It's always so depressing.
Why is the media so negative? If 200+ people die in a plane crash, the media will milk the story for weeks. However, if 200 children are born in a hospital, it goes unnoticed.
There's a lot of nice things happening around us. For example, this year, New Orleans was NOT hit by a hurricane. Isn't that newsworthy?

Answer
If 200 children are born in a hospital and a HURRICANE hits it, then that's NEWS, baby! Nobody does splatter better than network news, which is why I watch it. It's very entertaining. I mean, really, who cares if 200 babies are born in hospital? That happens every phucking day! And newborns are UGLY as hell! Like walnuts.

See, what I'd like to see on network media news coverage is more slanted opinion from media lackeys who are in the pocket of huge corporations. There's nothing like a mouthpiece for a hidden corporate overlord to make me march lock-step in my brown shirt and jack boots with whatever toxic viewpoint they spew. We ALL need to thank them for relieving us from the onerous burden of thinking.
