emissions test... lil info?

razorrblad

Ok so im buying a 79 mustang pace car with a 351 ( the motor came out of a 75 ford granata ( spelling ?) and i asked him when there was a emissions test done last and he said the motor doesnt have a catalystic converter..so it doesnt have to do one . I'm wondering if thats normal? or.. was the motor just made without it, or what?
I live in IL if that info helps at all..

Answer
if you have to pass emission you'll have to get a waiver this car never came with a 351 so you wont pass visual you'll need the air injection system which has a crossover tube between the heads egr is different converters came on this car so you'll need them usually the require the engine to be same year as car or newer i live in the same area there is a website its called clean air check or something like that just google emission laws illinois and you should be able to find answer also when you plated it they should have told you if it was due

how to use google? learning about car emissions.?

Q. im trying to find something about car emissions on google or wikipedia for me to study, but i cant find anything!!! anyone know any good sources!?

Answer
it depends on what you want to find general info i'd try the california air resourses board web page and see if theres any links. almost all cars have different systems so I dont know what you will find other than general information.there is general information I can tell you like the purposes of oxy sensors, cat converters that sort of thing.www.mycarandineedhelp.com is my free web page to ask specifics of me
