Forward facing car seat?

Q. My son is 13 months old and recently had his one year check up and it was suggested by his doc that he could go ahead and be in a forward facing car seat. I've done research and have read articles that suggest not to change from rear facing to forward facing until you absolutely have to. Any tips or experiences to help me decide when would be a good time?

Answer
2 is a bare minimum per the AAP (the organization whose advice your doctor should be following but clearly isn't) http://www.healthychildren.org/english/news/pages/aap-updates-recommendations-on-car-seats.aspx?nfstatus=401&nftoken=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000&nfstatusdescription=ERROR%3a+No+local+token and the NHTSA recommends rear facing right up until the child's 4th birthday as long as they still fit rear facing in their convertible seat http://www.nhtsa.gov/ChildSafety/step2

And this is a wealth of information on rear facing http://carseatblog.com/5168/why-rear-facing-is-better-your-rf-link-guide/

Personal experience: my godson moved to a Graco MyRide rear facing around 6 months. He's a big boy- over the 97th percentiles for height and weight. In the meantime, I purchased an Evenflo Tribute for a spare seat. He outgrew the Tribute around 21 months so we put that away and used the MyRide full time. Then I purchased an Evenflo Triumph 65 to keep in my car for him. At 2 1/2 years old he outgrew the MyRide rear facing by height so now with his mom he rides forward facing in his Evenflo Tribute. He's pretty much at the height limit for that so he's switching to a Graco Argos. He's still rear facing in my car because he's still within the height and weight limit. If he hadn't outgrown his MyRide, he would still be rear facing 100% of the time. He's rather uncomfortable forward facing- he doesn't have anywhere to prop his legs up, and because he's not as reclined as he was rear facing, his head falls forward when he sleeps.

What is the latest news update on the little girl Caylee?

Q. I have been out all day, and saw only the headlines during dinner at the pizza place and could not hear any of the news said, does anyone know if they have found her?

Answer
i think Caylee's mother has been arrested. the news was saying something about how there was a rotting smell in her car, which they think was Caylee's body, but her mother is saying that it was rotting pizza, not Caylee. it is so sad that innocent little girls, like Caylee and Madeline McCan go missing.
