what is the cheapest way to paint a car?

I have a car that the paint is pretty messed up and needs a paint job! I need something that will look good but is pretty cheap....IM willing to do the work at home.what is the cheapest way to paint it?is there a type of automotive spraypaint that will work well?

Give it the rat rod look. A case of black or gray primer, a couple rolls of body tape (blue masking), some sand paper 500-800 grit, and a warm environment around 70 degrees and up.
Rough sand the vehicle or the area to paint, this will give a rough texture for the primer to adhere. Mask off the windows or areas that you don't want painted. You can even go cheap and use old news papers instead of buying mask paper. If you want a shiny paint job, then put a couple layers of clear coat over the primer.
I did my 89' caprice in primer black and it only cost me about 70 bucks to paint the whole car.
The quality of the job, increases the cost.
