Answer
TomTom 720 , Cost aroud $399 I have a TomTom 720 and for me the deciding factor was for the price the TomTom has more features , bluetooth, hand free calling and traffic update including weather from your cell phone , as this may not sound like something you'd be interested in, the one time you look at some POI and you can call them right from the gps screen its worth it, if you are in trouble you can phone the police or tow truck right from the TomTom screen, TomTom uses tele-atlas it more up to date than garmins navteq maps ,oh and TomTom uses mapshare so you can allways have the most up to date maps ,FM transmitter plays you MP3's, audio books and text to speech right over your FM stereo in your car , you can link any search from google maps by selecting send to gps device(only works with TomTom) and save it to your favorites and open later when running your unit so it will take you right there, help me feature works well to locate a police station or call them also for other emergency services,
TomTom is the most popular GPS system in the world , in europe they don't call it a GPS they call it a TomTom, I went to my friends house last night and I know he lives in a new sub-division so I typed the address into the TomTom and there it was, the address not to mention the whole east part of that city didn't even show up on his garmin , he's going out to buy a TomTom after christmas and try to sell his garmin. Anyway I hope that helps, P.S next time you see a police or ambulance ask them which GPS they use. and then go out and buy youself a TomTom and be happy....Ren

What Is The Best Child GPS Tracking Service?

There seems to be quite a few and I was hoping to narrow it down a little.

Answer
You are right...There are dozens of child monitoring services available. What it comes down to is what features you want. The most basic of child GPS units are just that...basic! If your child has the unit on him/her, you can track the location via your computer and thats all. There was a recent article on CNN about child GPS tracking devices and the most highly rated was a system called Amber Alert GPS (http://www.Important.biz)

I can't remember all the details, so I am copying some of the info from their website...

Features include:

Safe Zone: Define a virtual boundary (safe zone) around your neighborhood, school or any where you choose. Receive an alert when your AAGPS is carried outside of that safe zone. You will continue to receive safe zone alerts by text and email (you choose) every 5 minutes giving you a bread crumb location trail. The safe zone can easily be changed or cancelled in seconds from your cell phone or from our website.

Maps:Introducing the new Amber Alert GPS 2G. The worldâs smallest, most powerful GPS tracking device. Tracking your child is as easy as placing a call or sending a text. Simply place this device in a pocket, purse, backpack or car, or attach to a wrist, ankle, or belt. Call or text the AAGPS device, and within seconds youâll receive a detailed map and address of their exact location right on your web-enabled phone. You can also track one or more devices from your computer.

SOS Button:If your child is in a dangerous or threatening situation, or has a medical emergency, they can press and hold the SOS button. The device will then send a âHELP MEâ text and email to 5 trusted individuals that you have predetermined. The text and email will contain the street address and map link. A âHELP MEâ text and email containing their current or updated location will be sent to all users every 5 minutes until the emergency is resolved.

Destination Alert:Do you want to be notified when your child arrives at school, soccer practice, or the mall? You can with our latest feature: Destination Alert. Destination Alert allows the parent to define an area on a map, and receive notification by text and/or email when the child arrives. It's easy and it gives you one more tool to keep your child safe!

And many, many more features.

So, in answer to your question, The "best" child tracking GPS would be the Amber Alert GPS system.
