if i scraped against a car and the owner took money from instead of calling police can he sue me?

Robert

he took down reg.number and nothing else can he sue with no insurance info. plus the car was'nt mine

Answer
In the US, there is almost no limitation on suing anyone. Whether he can prevail against you is a different matter. But if he sues, you will have to defend yourself, which is going to cost money (maybe a lot), and you will not recover those costs even if the finding is for you. And remember that if the matter progresses, even just to depositions, you will be providing testimony under oath, so you must answer questions truthfully at every stage.

Whether ownership of the car is relevant depends on what it is he sues you for. The owner of the car may also be liable (and subject to suit), but the injured party could perhaps find a matter for which you would be civilly liable separate from the matter of insurance on the car you drove. Finally, if a suit generates evidence that you did not report an accident that must, under your state laws, be reported (e.g., there were injuries or the value of the damage exceeded some threshold), that could be used against you by the State in a separate action.

At a minimum you had better speak with the person who owns the car, so that if he is served he is not surprised. And you had better develop a plan about obtaining legal counsel.

Looking for a special car. ?

Michael

I'm looking for a car that my dad and grandpa built. It was sold around dundee ny. It is a 1968 chevelle ss. It was candy red with black interior. Also is there anyway i could track this car down? My grandfather recently passed away and my dad would pass out if i came home and gave him the car that they built 20 years ago.

Answer
Do you have previous Reg and title info or at least a copy. Vin or engine number.
