Scion tC performance upgrades?

tred3123

I am buying a 2006 silver scion tc on saturday, and was wondering about some performance parts i may get? I was considering getting a TRD cold air intake and TRD high performance air filter?

1. will both increase my HP and my MPG? (gas prices so high needs mpg's!)
2. how much?
3. know where i can get a lower price for these items?
4. any other comments/suggestions?

wouldnt mind more performance, but don't want to pay for something so expensive like a supercharger, and dont want to hurt the mpg's at the same time.

just incase..... anyone know where i can get some 18" ZINIK black rims for cheaper than sites like tirerack, wheelfire, ect??? looking to tint windows, smoke tails, put on the rims, maybe do the CAI and air filter?

thanks

Answer
hi
just to start with "Whenever u increase ur car's horse power (hp) u will sacrifice some MPG.
Cold Air Intake would provide some gain in MPG, if u don't drive hard.
(u would either have to get a Cold air intake or airfilter bec. ur stock intake filter is replaced by TRD high performance filter and if u want to get Cold air intake (cai) they have to take out stock intake....long story short u can't have both TRD high performance filter and and a CAI)

I would not recomment TRD if u want some performance out of intake...go with Injen technology CAI...which gains about 5-7hp
if u want performance replace Headers with megan racing headers..gives about 7-10hp, get a catback exhaust system...usually gives 7-15hp(go to ptuning.com they offer exhaust w/ gain of 20+hp)
these will cost u about <$1000

also remmember performance is nothing without handling..so u might want to get some sturp bars, lowering spring etc.

or

if u want MPGs clean ur airfilter every month, DO NOT DRIVE HARD, and keep ur tire pressure slightly up than recommended.

so u scionlife.com for more of this info

hope this helps!!

I am trying to buy a car and I want to look at a site where I can find out information about the car I am interested in buying. Something like consumer reports.....

Answer
Microsoft also has reliability ratings on line. They can be found here:
